Srishti Rathour is a young author who is currently pursuing electronics and communications engineering from Manipal University Jaipur. As a result, her words tend to flow out like electric charges and bind pages with the field of neutron stars. She calls herself ‘wonderfully weird’, believes in healthy narcissism and swears by the pull of gravity. Srishti’s mother defines her as an emotionally badass brat who knows precisely the amount of water needed to simmer a perfect bowl of Maggi.
Recently, her short story ‘Rekindle’ was published in a romance anthology titled The Love I Know. She is a spontaneous storyteller and her general ideas range from intricate moral based fables to gripping suspense thrillers. Her love for writing stems from her colourful childhood of Ron Roy stories, Tinkle comics and a plethora of stuffed toys which she once swore came alive at night.
When she’s not reading or writing, Srishti could possibly be enjoying a random flick, binge-watching Friends, ‘wasting’ precious time with her eccentric friends, bickering with her little sister or probably fantasizing over chocolate.
She is a fantasy freak who unabashedly attempts at finding platform nine and three-quarters whenever she is at a railway station. Some believe she could be a vampire owing to her immortal string of thoughts, but her friends know she could very well be a werewolf. She is a crazy dog lover and has this habit of gobbling up books!
I am sucker for Fantasy fiction genre and always keep looking for one after the other. This book, “The Missing City” does not disappoint and gives you ample space to imagine and delve more into the story.
The Author, Srishti takes you on an adventure filled journey of two friends, Sumi who is an introverted avid reader and Rahel, who loves to go out and party (Of course, I had an instant affinity towards Sumi, as we share the same love for books). Their lives turn upside down when the secret of missing Guardian city is revealed in front of them and they are pulled into the mess to make things right. The characters are well rounded and part of a captivating plotline. This book has elements of magic, betrayal, prophecies, good vs evil, love and righteousness.
The book is fast paced with a lot of twists and turns, it keeps you engaged at almost all times. It is one of those reads that does not take an effort. It is light and entertaining. The writing flows well and you feel connected with the narration. Some chapters of the book are so larger than life that they feel cinematic. I particularly liked the ending of the book.
Overall, this book can be a good ‘on the go read’ while travelling or commuting, as it will keep you entertained at all times. The simple narration makes it a good pick for beginners.
I never expected to love an upcoming author and their work as much as i did. The plot, the world building, characters and their portrayal was very intriguing and indulging. I liked how she focused on the friendship of these two Indian girls and how hindu mythology was mixed and matched. It felt like a bedtime story that i would imagine myself to fall asleep where i might be the strong lead who falls in the love with the oooo mysterious hot prince (come on y'all, admit it. We all guilty of these crazy imaginations). Even her acknowledgement was interesting. She wrote and I quote her line 'I hope you will think of me the next time you look at a mirror and believe, as I do, that there is always more to your story than just your reflection' very inspiring. I absolutely loved sumi and alexis and rahel with Aaron. The battle scene at the end and the plot twist had me surprised and biting my nails. The epilogue was absolutely beautiful and I believe the perfecting ending to this beautiful book. Ok the only reason I didn't gave it five stars is because there are some veryyyy minor issues with editing. All in all, loved it and totally recommend it. Thank you for sharing your story srishti.
I love love fantasy fiction , and I can never have enough of that. I was searching for good fantasy readings based on India , and suddenly author blessed me with one. The Missing City is another book with cover and story both equally beautiful. I loved her characters, specially Sumi , because she is so much like us book nerds. The story has really cute romance parts. It's a fast paced book , full of twists and turns which are totally unexpected. Srishti has a really simple yet beautiful flow of writing , she maintained it until last. The book is written in simple language, beginners can easily read it. And the ending was perfect, slightly left for the imaginations readers. Overall it's a really nice , relaxing read. One can just put it in bag and read while on train or road trips. I love this kind of fast paced books with good stories which I can enjoy in a journey. I read it while I was going to another town and finished it in one day.
This is a story about two best friends - sumi and rahel Both are book lovers and mind you they both are female leads (sumi more than rahel I think ). They stumble upon different dimension or world when they were being attacked by a monster and from there their adventure journey starts which is full of twists and turns with a little bit of fluffy romance. Both male leads of story are Ok but a little bit of backstory about their character and personality will be appreciated in my opinion. Secondary characters are all well written and backdrop of story is actually quite impressive. Story is fast paced, author is good at storytelling and all the connections and twists in story are well written. I haven't read a good fantasy for a long time and I liked this story very much so Awesome work author!
A great fictional read which will take one to a roller coaster ride. A thrilling and bone-chilling novel which will take your breath away. Written in a simplified though elborative manner, the author justified each and every incident in an amazingly manner. The book revolves around two best friends - one being a book-worm and other being a party animal. Two distinct girls entering a world of fantasy in search of a world of hidden mystery. Let's enter the world of searching something lost yet found. Enjoy the world of fantasy land with experiences worth remembering. Fanticize Sumi Solanki and her friend Rahel Ouseph on this ride. Engaging Read :)
I've always been huge fan of fantasy fiction, the way it teleports us to some world where everything seems possible, easy and great.
The Missing City too is an amazing work of fiction which includes characters associated to books, a world with angels, devils, magic and adventure. The story is a tale of two friends Sumi and Rahel with qualities much different from one another who are somehow pulled on to an adventure to protect and uncover the secrets of their missing city.
It's a fast paced and easy to read book which would be excellent for beginners ready to tour a fictional world.
The book will take to the adventure story of two friends Sumi and Rahel. Their lives are going to changed when they discover an unknown thing. World has been saved by an unknown city known as Guardian city. Suddenly something happens and it changes everyone's life. To find what will happen and what will these two persons do to solve the problem. The book shows the adventurous story of both the persons showing what they will do next. A good book of adventure.
This is the best fictional book I have read recently. All the characters and the story was pretty good and very well narrated.while reading the book I felt like I was watching some movie . Every chapter is so interesting and there are more unexpected twists and one couldn't fathom what happens next . This is a story which captures all our hearts. I just can't take the characters out of my mind even after two days of reading. One really can't keep the book down till one finishes reading it. Such an interesting work by the author 👏👏
The first thing to say... The cover!!! It is just so very beautiful. Beautiful would be an underrated word for it because it is just so amazing.
It is a fantasy fiction book and you would love it if you are interested in fantasy books. Personally, I am not really into fantasy but this book really got me hooked. It's in very easy language and good for beginners. The ending was implicit and was just perfect. It is a fast paced book with twists and turns and can force you down to finish reading it in a single sitting.
Overall, a must read, even if you are not a fan of fantasy books.
