Some say opposites attract, but what happens when they act on that attraction?

Domino Rush can’t write a song. Every time she tries, nothing comes out. Her band, The Shrikes, had a hugely successful first album, but writing the follow up is way too muach pressure. Adding to the pressure? Her entire band is depending on her. But Domino has never been one for responsibility. So, instead of writing, she surfs, drinks, and finds pretty women to keep her company.

Sabrina Meloy has her entire life planned out and organized. Literally. One year ago, she founded a home organization company and in the past year, it has slowly grown into something she’s extremely proud about. She doesn’t need any distractions. She just needs one big breakout client to really cement her professional expertise and make her brand explode.

When Domino’s band hires Sabrina to organize Dom’s house to hopefully get her back on track to get in a songwriting state of mind, the two women find themselves spending a lot of time together. Except, the two opposites have nothing in common and quite frankly, can’t figure one another out.

Will Sabrina be able to organize the mess that is Domino Rush — and in the meantime, will Domino finally show Sabrina there’s more to life than matching spice racks?

This is a full-length, standalone romance that can be read on its own, but it also harmonizes well with others in the series.

Marie Kondo

This is the second book of the Kaleidoscope series - a series that revolves around members of a hit indie band. I enjoyed most of the previous book short of the last quarter when Billie's relationship with Vero started to tank partly due to Billie's meddlesome sister, Domino. So at the start of this book, Domino is already at a disadvantage with readers, but I didn't dislike her in the course of this book. I think she made all the right moves when it comes to Sabrina, except maybe the last quarter of it.

Domino is a mess in every sense of the word. The strain in her relationship with Billie hasn't worn off. She's having a songwriter's block, which is a major deal because she's the main songwriter for the band. She's having casual sex that she doesn't care for and she's a slob at home. Zoey, another band member, decides to intervene, chooses the lowest hanging fruit, and engages Sabrina to 'Marie Kondo' Domino's house.

Domino and Sabrina are complete opposites, but they somehow fit together very well and their chemistry is really good. So it works and I really love it. Organising her house and life isn't Domino's thing but she's completely taken in by Sabrina, which fast tracks their relationship but it also leaves her no time to process what it means. Sabrina, on the other hand, is star struck by Domino and the rest but still carries her own pretty well with them and I really like her and think she has a charming personality.

I think this series suits me well and I'm enjoying Bryce Oakley's writing so far.

This is second in a series and some character arcs carry over into this one, though nothing important. I recommend reading in order, but you're likely fine if you don't.

Short review because I'm way behind and need to lessen the psychic weight of my own expectations.

I liked these characters and, while the background is far-fetched and the wish-fulfillment strong, I liked the developments and relationship as well. I particularly liked the solution to Domino's writers block and how it wasn't just "love inspires me".

The dark moment was lame, though, as was some of the plot elements. And I don't buy Sabrina's career path, though I'm glad the negative motivation* didn't actually pan out.

I'll call it four stars, though that's a little generous.

A note about Steamy: This is the middle of my steam tolerance, though I forget the actual count.

* Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back (or, if that link doesn't work, here's a cache of the original) and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

My favorite book in the series. Though I find that confusing since the book stars Dom, who turned out to be my least favorite band member. I liked her well enough in this book, I suppose, though it is more the other co star in this book who edges this book ahead of the first book in the series to be favorite book. That would be Sabrina.

The concept of this book is this: Dom is a massive slob and a fellow band member calls in the help of a professional organizer, Sabrina, to help Dom. Sabrina is not a life coach but she kind of falls into this role in this book.

I rather like Sabrina.

Dom is oddly a good character in this book.

Good solid story.

This is the second book of the series The Kaleidoscope Album, this time we met Domino, she is second in command in The Shrikes Band, her sister Bille, the lead of the band who we met in the first book of the series. Domino and Billie are very close friends with Meg and Zoey, all of them are band members too.

In the previous book we see how Domino and Billie had a very intense disagreement due to Domino getting involved in her sister’s relationship with Vero De Luca, beside this Domino is having a writer’s block so there are no new songs for the band; in this new book we add several situations to Domino’s endeavors like the lack of stability and unable to keep anything near her organized.

Searching for that stability, Zoey suggests Domino (with Billie’s endorsement) to hire a professional organizer to help Domino get at least her house together. They met, they feel attraction for each other but they are so different, and both believe that that's not enough, that to try to be together is not the right path.

What I liked about this book is that we met them so much is a short period of time, the book is relative short, but you get to know about their family’s or their background at least, their fears and expectations, the struggle but the realness.

For me this is like a compact, low-angst book that meets diverse criteria for a quick read but not dull or sappy.

Bryce Oakley’s Bewilder, narrated by the always-brilliant Lori Prince, is such a fun continuation of the Kaleidoscope Album series and honestly is such a fun, feel-good listen—and honestly the perfect choice when you want a full-length romance that still flies by. I had it on while meandering the home improvement store & painting, and the hours just disappeared. That’s how you know it’s good.

This one is some opposites-attract magic. Domino is the chaotic rockstar we’ve all crushed on—surfing, drinking, avoiding responsibility, and definitely not writing the songs her band needs. Sabrina, on the other hand, is Miss Organized: she runs a home organization business, color-codes her life, and knows exactly where she’s going. When she’s hired to whip Domino’s house (and maybe her whole life) into shape, sparks start flying in the messiest, cutest way possible.

Their chemistry is chef’s kiss. Domino can’t help but fall for Sabrina’s steady charm, while Sabrina—totally star-struck by this celebrity mess—still holds her ground. I loved how they balance each other out: chaos meets order, and somehow it just works. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it has that swoony, “I can’t stop listening” energy that makes a road trip, painting project, or even laundry day a thousand times better.

And Lori Prince? Absolutely stellar as always. She brings such warmth and personality to these characters that you feel like you’re right there with them. Honestly, her narration makes the Kaleidoscope series shine even brighter.

If you’re craving a sapphic romance with sparks, banter, and a guaranteed happy sigh at the end, Bewilder is the one to queue up next.

This continues where Undone stops, or rather it starts somewhere towards the end of Undone.

This book revolves around Domino, Billie’s sister, and Sabrina. Dom and Sabrina are about as opposite as you can get but they bring out the best in each other.

I found some continuity issues that really distracted me, but overall it is an enjoyable and easy read.

This is part of the Kaleidoscope album but can easily be read as a standalone.

I just enjoyed reading Undone, the first book in this series, and I thought I'd jump right into book two.

The main character in this book is Domino, Billie's younger sister from book one. She's a captivating character. The same goes for Sabrina, the other main character, though they're very different.

It was incredible how time flew by when I started reading. I quickly got into a wonderful flow, and the book finished quickly.

On to book three in this series!

Unfortunately I found this a bit weak by comparison to "Undone". On one hand I missed more about the creative atmosphere between the musicians, on the other hand I found the Sabrina character a little over the top. So a weak 4 stars for this one.

(Sept 24, 2025) Domino Rush is having writers block. She and her band, the Shrikes, had a very successful first album. Now there is extra pressure to build upon that success. It doesn’t help that things are a little tense between her and one of her bandmates who is also her sister. She spends her days surfing and drinking, looking for inspiration. Another band member introduces her to Sabrina Meloy, a professional organizer. The hope is if she can get her house cleaned and organized her writing inspiration may return. Sabrina is a breath of fresh air. She has a plan and her life is on track. She is very much the opposite of Domino. So why does Domino feel so balanced with her?

I gladly listened to the audio book narrated by one of my favorites, Lori Prince. I can honestly say I have searched and found audio books only because she is the narrator. My first surprise was realizing I have read this book previously. I joined KU and binged there during Covid. I read many of Oakley's books during that time. I didn’t remember this book and enjoyed it as if it were the first time.

The characters are great. Sabrina stands out as confident and smitten. She is a little unsure of how to deal with Domino who has never tried to be in a relationship. The friend group, which is the band, adds some humor and camaraderie to the story. There is a brief third act break that fits the story and is not overly angsty. I enjoyed the book very much. This is the second book in The Kaleidoscope Album series and I liked it without remembering the previous book in the series. (Which I have also read.) Now while this is all fresh in my mind I will probably revisit the rest of the series. I am leaving my original review on Goodreads in addition to posting this one.

Thank you to Tantor Media and NetGalley for the audio book and I am leaving an honest review.

**************

(Sept. 29, 2021) Second in Oakley's The Kaleidoscope Album series. It continues following up close after the first book. Domino Rush still can't write music for the follow up album of her band The Shrikes. Dom likes to party, surf, and drink. Dom's band hires Sabrina Meloy, a professional organizer to clean-up and organize Dom's house. Hoping if she gets her house under control the songs will follow.

I still didn't like Dom much from the betrayal in the first book. But I really like Sabrina. She is fun and brings out a new side to Dom. I love when she creates a drinking game to get through a stressful family gathering. These books are easy quick reads and I've already downloaded the rest of the series.

Great Read!

I loved this story. Domino and Sabrina had great chemistry revolving around a great premise. I loved the The Shrikes bandmates appearing and adding to the outcome of this story. I loved the other two books in this series and look forward to the fourth installment. Bryce Oakley did it again.

I received this audiobook for free from Netgalley & Tantor Audio.

I honestly didn't know I had listened to the first audiobook. In my defence, it was in October 2023 when it was part of audible's plus catalogue. You don't need to have read the first book. Would it add additional context for why you should be beefing with Domino? Yes. Would this hinder you if you haven't? No, you'll be fine.

This was a nice and quick opposite attract, low stakes, and lighthearted romance. If you've got five hours to spare, give this a go.

On to the narrator, Lori Prince, I expected nothing less from her - she delivered. I've listened to enough audiobooks narrated by her. In fact, **checks my audible rating for book 1**, her narration really elevated the first book. So, I'm not surprised that she's the narrator for the entire series.

Sidebar: For those who care, judging from my audible rating of the first audiobook, I prefer this story.

The music industry provides the background setting for this story but is not the focus. The main characters make a cute couple. The obligatory miscommunication at the three-quarters mark is a little forced. Fortunately it blows over relatively rapidly so the couple can have their HEA in New York City in time for the new year.

A touching and wonderful story. Who's not afraid of hoping a relationship can progress with two people following different dreams yet still continuing to grow together? This story addresses those issues and fears beautifully....and works them out in the end.

Bewilder by Bryce Oakley is an opposites attract sapphic romance between Sabrina Malone, a professional organizer, and Domino Rush, a rockstar/songwriter. Sabrina is hired to organize Domino’s home, so they team up together in a story that has plenty of banter, tension, and spice. Bewilder is packed with plenty of feet kicking, giggly moments that serve as a reminder of why the romance genre is so adored.

Things I enjoyed:

1. The banter. OH, the banter!
2. The intrigue and interest that morphed into tension and desire between the main characters.
3. The vulnerability and the growth that was displayed throughout their relationship.
4. The depth of each character was explored through their backstories and I loved that the book was not only cute and romantic but deep!
5. The conclusion of the book! The Happily Ever After!

Thoughts on the narration:

Lori Prince is an incomparable voice actor. She brought every character to life as if the book were featuring duet-style narration. One of the reasons why the book was so captivating was the way she could create atmospheric shifts in the scenes between the main characters. The way she made her voice inflect or crack at the perfect time during a confession or an internal thought created a book experience that had me GLUED to my seat. Prince didn’t just recite lines; she fully embodied each character. I’d listen to this book again. Bryce’s writing, in addition to Prince’s narration, was amazing.

Book 2 in the Oakley's Kaleidoscope series following Domino Rush, lead songwriter for the Shrikes, and Sabrina Meloy, a professional organizer after my Type A heart will take you on a fun, relatively quick journey that is refreshing and engaging listen. At only 5 hours and 5 minutes, this listen will hit all the sweet spots you love in a good sapphic romance while keeps that anxiety inducing "what if" to a minimum. I love the characters, they are relatable, voiced by the queen of sapphic narration Lori Prince, so you will smirk at their sarcasm as much as you will swoon at their vulnerabilities. It's really in the little moments of this listen where you see the greatness that is, Oakley's written and Prince's spoken, words. The sitting in the sand scene when Dom is finding the quite and reflecting on what jut doesn't feel comfortable and Sabrina comes out and is asking about sharks... I think we've all lived moments like that. Where we are needing to find our solace and even though we enjoy someone we just want them to stop talking. That is a small but very real experience that makes readers connect with characters, and feel understood. If you need a pretty uplifting and fast paced listen, this is a great one. I could see this being a casual relisten for me when I want to lose myself in something, but my mental health needs it to be something I know won't make me cry.

Spice Level: 2/5 Open Door

Domino Rush is a rockstar in the popular band The Shrikes. She has been a blank slate lately when it has come to her song writing. Her band hires Sabrina Meloy to help clean up Domino’s place because it is a mess and maybe a clean space can be a new beginning for her. They have, what I call a meet-oops because it definitely wasn’t cute. They work past the tension their first meet-up causes but the more time they spend together, the more they can’t deny their attraction to one another. Can Sabrina be Domino’s muse?

I received this audiobook from NetGalley and the Author in return for my honest review. This was a sweet and quick listen. It’s around a 5 hour listen so I was able to get through it in like 2 days. I love the way that there is something undeniable between Domino and Sabrina, yet, they’re stubborn and try to deny what is literally right in front of their faces. I also liked Domino being a rockstar. I know it is out there but not a trope I have seen much in sapphic literature so thank you to the author for something a little different.

Lori Prince. That’s it, I really don’t need to say anything else. Wait. Queen. I will listen to anything she reads. My absolute favorite. She will bring the story alive. The only way she’ll disappoint you is by ending the story.

I would recommend this if you enjoy:
- LGBTQIA+ romances
- Musician romances
- One of them is famous trope
- Forced proximity
- Friends to lovers
- Spicy scenes

Thank you for the ALC Netgalley, Tantor Media & Tantor Audio. All opinions are my own.

This book follows Domino Rush, a musician, and Sabrina Meloy, a professional organiser, who meet when Domino runs over Sabrina outside of where they are supposed to meet for the first time. Domino is reluctant but lets Sabrina do what she was hired to do.

I listened to this book in one night because it was so good. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters as well as their build up from friends to something more. I liked that they talked to each other as well as the friend group.

The spice was well written as well as well placed. It wasn't straight away which I appreciated. I also liked the music aspect of this book as I enjoy music myself.

Overall, I would recommend this book as the writing style was good as well as the narration and I would pick up another of this author's books.

Review of *Bewilder* by Bryce Oakley
**Narrated by Lori Prince**
*Thanks to NetGalley and Tantor Media for the audio ARC.*

*Bewilder* is the second book in a series centered around musicians finding love. In this installment, we follow Dom, a talented artist battling writer’s block, and Sabrina, a professional organizer eager to grow her business. She jumps at the opportunity to help Dom bring order to her chaotic home—hoping that a tidy space might lead to a clearer mind and renewed creativity.

The premise had potential, and the concept of using home organization as a metaphor for inner clarity was a nice touch. However, I personally struggled to connect with either of the main characters. Their romance didn’t resonate with me, and I found it somewhat distracting rather than engaging. That said, it's possible that some of the character dynamics and backstory were better developed in the first book, which I haven’t read.

The narration by Lori Prince was a strong point—clear, expressive, and well-paced, adding a layer of depth to the story that I appreciated.

**Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 stars)**
**Narration: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars)**

❤️Opposites attract
❤️Forced Proximity
❤️Musician x home organiser
❤️Instant attraction
❤️Sapphic romance
❤️Fun friendship group

This was a very quick, easy and enjoyable read. The friendship aspect was probably my favourite part, each character in their friendship group brought their own little bit of joy and quirkiness to the story. I actually think I enjoyed the parts with Dom’s family and all their friends more than the romance.

I really loved Sabrina’s character but struggled to connect with Dom which is probably what let this story down for me. Dom was a bit of a prickly character which I usually enjoy but I found her a little selfish and frustrating at times and I don’t feel that she had enough of a character arc or lessons learnt. Nonetheless, I do think this series is a lot of fun and I would recommend giving it a read.

I would recommend it if you like a romance with instant attraction, just the right amount of steam and sweet friendships.

I experienced this book in audiobook format, and for me the narration played a big role in how the story came across. The voices of the narrators were quite distinctive, yet they fit the characters perfectly. They helped me form a vivid picture of who the characters were, which made the story even more engaging.

At just under five hours, it is a relatively short book, but it never felt rushed or incomplete. Nothing seemed to be missing, and the pacing was very well balanced.

What I particularly appreciated was that the story was not only about the development of the main relationship, but also touched on deeper themes such as family dynamics, past experiences, and self-worth. These layers gave the book more substance. At the same time, I felt there was still room to explore these aspects even further, which could have added even more emotional depth.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would definitely listen to a sequel if one were to be released.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, but I chose to write this review voluntarily and all opinions are my own.
