Aleisha Maree knew she was going to write... well, since forever.
As soon as she could read, she wanted to be that escape for others.
Words pulled her in and held her tight in a world that captivated your soul and took you on a journey.
She crafts sensual, sexy, tantalizing stories that weave together her love for darkness, pure passion, and most of all human emotions which dance on the cusp of your soul.
She's from the South Island of New Zealand born and raised in a tiny but extraordinary village called Wakefield which holds so much more than her heart.
She now lives in the North Island of New Zealand in another village called Wharepapa South with her husband and 6 kids on a dairy farm.
When she's not consumed by those beautiful humans, she's knee-deep in writing, working on another work of art to captivate your soul and mind. To take you to the edge and back again.
She's a dark soul and introvert who loves nature and water, is insanely in love with coffee and reading.
She can always be found with her family with a book in her handbag and the wind in her hair.
Just keep an eye out for all the loud crazy kids, and she will be like right there!

4.75 stars

This is a continuation of the story of Gracie-May and Kaden which started in April from the Calendar Men series and to be perfectly honest even better than book 1.

This book had my heart pounding with fear, simply screaming with anger and tearing apart with devastation at various times. This author truly knows how to emotionally wring you out where you definitely need to put the kettle on at least.

Although this story has many deeply sad elements, where you want to simply wrap Gracie up in your arms and take her away, there are lighter scenes as well which make you chuckle if not out right laugh. The one that comes to mind immediately is when Karen’s friend, Brad, comes to visit him in rehabilitation, so funny..you need to read this as I definitely wo spoil it for you.

I gave it 4.75 stars because I needed a little bit more from the story as I felt there were a couple of things left unanswered properly. Perhaps I was just too invested in the book but I found I craved actual answers, especially about Ben, and not vague suggestions. I suppose it is testament to this writer that I was stirred up this much!

If you haven’t read April, Calendar Men series, please do then you will enjoy the full wonderful journey of Gracie-May and Kaden.

What a ride this book took you’re emotions on. I mean idk what to think except this book was an amazing journey of emotional turmoil and true love between two broken people who find solace in each other and want to put their pieces back together.
You have two broken people who have found a soulmate in the other and want to find true love and happily ever after.
You have a soldier who was hurt in the war an she is the nurse, nursing him back to health and sparks fly.
You must read this book and let us know if you love it as much as I do!! Fantastic job Aleisha Maree

“He brands me with every touch, touch which is shadowed by the depth of the dark and insane which haunts me. Beautiful moments which take away the pain of everyday living.
But, in these moments, all I could feel were my empty lungs burning, my heart thumping against my ribs so hard I was sure those same ribs would shatter. My skin would be ripped apart, the memory of his fingers – gone. Leaving me more broken than I already was. Trapped in a void and alone.
The black hole in my head, deep inside my soul, was slowly swallowing all my hopes and dreams. It was the worst of moments. The realization of the vacuum, the nothingness, the absurdity of my existence.
They gripped the inside of my mind and made me feel like I was constantly walking on glass. They made me wonder why I bothered to live.
Then he came into my life.”

“I needed to be all I knew I could be for the man who had witnessed unspeakable horrors. A man so broken and haunted by a past, he chose war to flee to.”

Well, that was one heck of a gripping and emotional ride!! Aleisha Maree does it again- playing with my heartstrings the whole way through.
April- by Aleisha Maree, is the fourth book in the Calendar Gals Series. This series is a collaboration by 12 authors who each contribute a story about a sassy gal, for their own designated month, with one author/book release per month, continuing for 12 months. April is Aleisha Maree’s addition to the series.
The story could be read as a standalone, but as there is a continuation from April- Calendar Men Series, I highly recommend reading that book first before starting on this one- as there is a lot of character details and important plot points contained in that first book. Having all those details will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book.
As with the first book, this is a heart-wrenching wounded warrior story, with a second-chance romance element to I, too. There are some sensitive topics that are part of the storyline- such as abuse (physical, mental, emotional, domestic, and substance), war (the horror’s that soldiers endure in service to their country), trauma, grief, rehabilitation, alcoholism, suicide, and violence. But these are not used gratuitously- Aleisha Maree handles them all quite mindfully and realistically.
There were very emotional, violent, and heart wrenching moments that had me really on edge, feeling so much for and with the characters, while also on the edge of my seat as all the drama played out hoping and praying that everything works out in the end. There were quite a few tense, heart-in-my-mouth moments where I wanted to put the book down because the scene was so intense, but at the same time I had to keep reading because I HAD to know what happens next.
I have discovered, after exploring most of Aleisha Maree’s work now, that she is a really great storyteller who has a knack for writing very realistic and believable stories, with the ability of grabbing and vigorously plucking your heartstrings along the way.
The story is told with some flashbacks, set as journal entries- which help to build backstory and give us a better understanding of the character/s, and situation.
I love Gracie-May and Kaden, and found myself rooting for them right from the start of Book #1. They are wonderful characters who are fully realised individuals- which I didn’t expect from such a short novella. But their personalities shone through- and I fell under their spell.
Aleisha Maree also does a brilliant job of highlighting some of the adversities that soldiers endure while in service to their country- as well as what the nurses, Doctors, and other hospital staff go through while carrying out their job.
What I mainly take away from this excellent story, is the enduring power of love and its ability to overcome even the most difficult of situations.
I would definitely love to revisit Kaden and Gracie-May and get more of their story in the future!!
I wonder what Aleisha Maree has in store for us next??

Thank you, Aleisha Maree!

This is Gracie-May's story of finding herself again and what a story it is... I felt so many emotions reading her story, especially when it came to her husband Ben.... wow what a piece of work that guy is.... Kaden is everything her husband isn't and more, he has his own demons to fight but to have Gracie-May in his life, makes any battle worth the fight.... The characters are so well written and their story is one that at times may be hard to read for some but it is totally worth persevering with.... Aleisha Maree has woven a story that will resonate with you long after the final page....

If you or anyone you know is in a situation like Gracie-May's, please find someone to help you escape that life, no one should live in that kind of fear....

Kaden and Gracie-May’s story continues. Gracie-May is dealing with her abusive husband in the best way that she can. He beats her and she makes excuses. The pain and regret that she feels, can be felt through the pages. Kayden is dealing with the suicide of his wife and his developing feelings for Gracie-May. She reminds him of his wife. And with her situation with her husband, he is afraid that he will lose her as he did his wife. The love that they feel for each other scares the both of them because she is not safe as long as she is with her husband. After she is beaten several times so severely, that she fears for her life, what choices will she make to be able to live a long and happy life? What if it is too late? How will they ever be able to be together in love?

How to put into words what this book has done to my heart. Heartbreakingly beautiful with pulse pounding words that will make you cry and laugh some and will get so mad that you will want to throw your Kindle. Kaden and Graice-May will have you pulled in write from the start and leave you breathless. Two beautifully broken people who find in each other what they need the most, but will they be able to keep? Can not wait to read more from this author.

Dark, intense, so very realistic. Such a great read, a dramatic look into what so many military members and families go through when a loved one returns from war.
*****WARNING**** this book has triggers of Domestic violence and rape and PTSD.
So worth the read.
