A goldmine for anyone starting out in PHP. Even after writing PHP for several years, I still use my beaten up, dog-eared, index-tabbed version almost every day.

The approach is different, as it breaks the subject material into 2-4 page sections based on common programming needs. This is extremely useful to people who already know how to program in other languages. Instead of bogging you down with fundamentals, you can start programming immediately.
In terms of the book itself, the two-color aspect (black and blue) makes it extraordinarily readable, and the binding has lasted far longer than I ever expected, considering the kind of abuse I give my copy. In addition, this edition comes with a CD with text and exercises, if you'd like to avoid retyping things.
