In our world, there are some lines you just don’t cross. New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings readers a new addition to the Satan’s Fury MC- Memphis series. Get ready for a ‘wilder’ ride. Gus wasn’t just my president. He was the father I never had. He was steadfast and strong. I looked up to him and trusted him without question. I’d never seen the man show a single sign of uncertainty until the day August James showed up at the Satan’s Fury clubhouse. None of us knew why the beautiful brunette had come knocking at our door, but we’d soon learn she was in need of help—the kind of help only a man like Gus could give. When he didn't turn her away, it became my job to watch over and protect her. I tried to keep my distance, but she drew me in with her soulful, dark eyes and sultry curves. I wanted to make her mine, but August had secrets—secrets she didn’t even know she had. In our world, there are some lines you just don’t cross, but for her, I was willing to cross them all. Gunner is book five of the Satan's Fury MC- Memphis Chapter. While this book is a continuation of the novella— Satan’s Fury MC- Memphis which was included in the Love, Loyalty and Mayhem Anthology, it can be read as a standalone. Gunner is a full-length novel which contains no cheating and a swoon-worthy HEA.
Gunner was the fifth book in L Wilder’s Satan’s Fury Memphis series. It can be read as a stand-alone.
Gunner was a patched member of the MC. He was the typical gorgeous, loyal and protective alpha that we expect. He was a war vet who didn’t find his place back in the world until he found the Satan’s Fury MC.
August James was an elite damsel in distress that was sent to the MC’s President, Gus, for protection. She was gorgeous, smart, strong and completely independent. The MC life was like nothing she had ever experienced but she recognized good loyal men when she saw them.
As expected, Gunner was well written and well developed with suspenseful plots. It was a fast read and I enjoyed all characters and sub plots. Wilder took us through several storylines to get to the end. I was thrilled to have read Gus, a short story within the Love, Loyalty and Mayhem anthology, prior to reading Gunner. It wasn’t necessary but it introduced some key characters and provided insight into how August could have been directed to Gus. Again, it wasn’t necessary, but added to my excitement.
Although I enjoyed the entire storyline, I at first felt there were too many gaps around Gus’s storyline that were crucial to Gunner and August; however, Wilder gave us just enough to mesh with the overall saga but left enough details so that it could be completed with Gus’s full story in a future release. It made more sense, but I still craved more depth and connection.
All in all, it was a quick, light hearted and action packed MC read.
Lies. Secrets. And more romance then I originally thought I'd receive. But it was all so good. Gunner is the newest book in the Satan's Fury: Memphis series. It was a story filled with suspense and interesting twists. It was also sweet with characters that I found myself really liking (the good guys any way, but L. Wilder also really knows how to write a bad guy that you love to hate.)
I loved that I not only got to learn about Gunner but also got another MC member's back story too. It was almost like getting two stories in one.
I always enjoy picking up a book by this author because I know that it's going to be well written and keep me engaged. I find them easy and rather quick reads simply because I don't want to stop reading until it's done. I definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy this author and fans in general of MC and/or contemporary romance.
Book Review for Gunner: Satan's Fury MC- Memphis (Satan's Fury- Memphis Book 5)
Wow this story start out with on heck of a bang! Right from the beginning the author drew you in.This story was Gunners and Aggies but ,Gus was affected in this story as well. One of the things I love most about the story and that so many of the members and other MC members were so much of this story this time around.
I loved Aggie she was a strong and brave female character who braved the lions den in order to save her daughter and we just loved that.We love strong female characters.
Secrets Secrets and More Secrets exposed! The story was filled with great characters and was action-ed packed from beginning to end and was a bit of emotional as well and we loved that. One thing we loved about the story is that this author makes it easy to fall in love with their characters easily and we did just that.Like Aggie's daughter who was utterly precious....
Overall we loved it from beginning to end and the intrigue kept us turning the pages to the bitter end.We loved the chemistry this couple had and those hot sexy hot scenes but, also loved that the story affected your emotions on some level because you went through some of the same emotions as some of its characters. Another winner in this on going series as we are so loving it !
L. Wilder has a writing style that is understated but full of affliction, feeling and passionate characters. She knows how to express a character in more then just words. Gunner is the perfect example of this; he is not only a character in this story; I felt him, his emotions, this thoughts this actions and that is what makes a book fantastic.
August is an amazing character in of herself; she is strong and determined, but also a tad broken and in need of more then just physical help. The bother’s of the MC are great men who are loyal and caring but take not crap. I loved the entire story for it’s dynamics.
Gunner really stole this story for me, I know this books is a romance but his character is what kept me turning the pages, sighing and wishing he was mine. If you are looking for a new book husband this Gunner is your man!
Love this series!.. L. Wilder has held my interest in all her books so far and hopefully this will continue. Gunner was a lost soul when he returned from the military to his home town. Couldn't figure out why everything was the same but felt different. While sitting at a bar determined to get drunk Gus, the president of Satan's Fury recognized the look of Gunner and spoke to him and that is how he came to be a member. August has gone through a divorce from the high political figure...an older man who seems to have his hands in too many pies and not good one's. Their daughter has been kidnapped. Her mother sends her to see Gus to ask for help. He gives it and they both learn so much more. Gunner is the one assigned to protect August and protect he does along with falling in love but is love easy... read and find out what they have to go through to get to their HEA
Finally getting to find out where Gunner’s nickname comes from! Another installment in the Satan’s Fury MC series and I cannot get enough! A chance meeting, Gunner is enthralled with a girl at a gas station who successfully blows him off, but joke’s on her because she ends up at the Satan’s Fury clubhouse anyways! Autumn is desperate, and on her mother’s advice, travels to the clubhouse to see if the guys can help in finding her missing daughter. As the story continues, we find that Autumn was married to the mayor, and her family has history in politics. In addition, we also find out that Autumn’s mom and Gus had a past relationship that nobody knew about, and that saving Autumn’s daughter is means more than just helping an old friend’s daughter. As they work on saving Autumn’s daughter and then protecting them against her ex, Gunner and Autumn continue to grow closer and build a friendship that later turns into more. In the end, Autumn is a strong woman with amazing core values and doesn’t settle for less than what she deserves and does what’s right no matter the consequences. We also get to understand a little more from Gunner and his background and past, and how he developed such a close, father-son relationship with Gus. I couldn’t get enough of this couple and their HEA combined with the promise of filling in blanks with Gus and Autumn’s mother. Another great story from L. Wilder! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The Satan's Fury MC has been an exceptionally well written MC series. Gunners book is no different!
When Gunner has a fleeting glance of August in a gas station he is instantly attracted to her however but when he is shot down by he goes on his merry way back to the club house.
August isn't really thinking of big beautifully bikers when she meets gunner her focus is finding Gus the president of the Satan's Fury - her 2 year old has been kidnapped and and unknown to August her ex husband the mayor of her local town is into some very shading dealings with the locally drug cartel who take her daughter hostage. Augusts Mum Sam urges her to go and find Gus the man she was in love with many years ago to help her find her granddaughter
When August and Gunner meet again the sparks continue to fly - when Gus asked Gunner to take care of August and Harper and keep them safe Gunner knows that he would lie down his life for them but what secrets will be revealed that could change everything and can these three really become a family?
I loved Gunner and Augusts story and can't wait to read the follow up to Gus and Sams story later this year. We first meet those two in the Love Loyalty and Mayhem MC Club book in July
I am always so excited to read another book in this series. Gunner is such a sweet man and very loyal to his MC. August is on a mission to find help to get her daughter back and where it leads her is to the Satan’s Fury.....what better group to have help from!!! From the moment Gunner sees August there is just something there. There is a lot of secrets in this book and the shocks that come out will really surprise you!!! I can’t wait for more!!!
This was pretty good. I got a little lost at the start, the whole kidnapping thing felt a little rushed and could have been done better but the romance between Gunner and August was nice in the end and I liked Harper herself too, I think she was the right age character and not too old for her age as can happen with toddler characters.
Gunner, book five in L. Wilder's Satan's Fury MC series, brings another worthy biker to the club and the hearts of readers!
While this book was full of suspense and action what it really brought to the pages were people reaching to find their role in the world and a place to call home. Ms. Wilder tied together a bunch of characters at loose ends, joining them together in a way that reached beyond all the other aspects of this work. Gunner and August both had love in their upbringings yet shared the loss of a present father figure, both gravitating and bonding with Gus the President of the Satan Fury MC Memphis chapter. Each craved not only finding a kinship with their own families but the urge to form their own family.
Gunner and August's appeal was more than just physical. This pair shared attributes such as loyalty, dependability and kindness giving a firm connection to explore their mutual dreams and take their chemistry to the next level. Gunner had all the makings of a hero and August was the catalyst to give him the chance to be one. August was a perfect mix of vulnerable and capable. There was a sweetness to this relationship that was offset nicely with the steamy tension of their attraction. This author did a great job in her portrayal of August's daughter Harper, who was charming and age appropriate.
L. Wilder writes in a deceptively casual way that makes her intense characters and story lines approachable and consuming. Lots of on point dialog and well-formed characters made up a wonderful cast that brought a whole other dimension to this author's work. All of her books have an intimacy to them that make her words feel personal. Ms. Wilder writes in a gray area where her portrayal's actions are not always socially accepted and defy the definitions of good and bad. The struggles of her characters to do what is right shows their humanity. In Gunner L. Wilder shares a depth filled story that merits praise and her devoted following.
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.*
*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
OMG Satan’s Fury MC is back. Yeah love how many of the crew is peppered throughout this story.
This is Gunner’s story and I love him. He is so nummy. His backstory is really interesting and I love how the topic of Asperger’s is explored (wink, you have to read to know what I mean).
August is such a sweet but resilient heroine. She is dealing with some major issues. Her 3 year old daughter, Harper is missing and August’s mother has sent her to ask the MC for help. Plan for several revelations as the story progresses.
Gunner and August have an intense story to tell. It has all the elements that I love. It is suspenseful, angsty, and of course sexy.
I have to admit I am addicted to this author and series. Because of my obsession with her the storyline felt familiar like going home to see a good friend. Sigh. This made it even more enjoyable. I did give myself a big pat on the back when I made an accurate prediction. Hee hee. This is a stand-alone but you really should read the others. SO GOOD! I can’t wait to get the rest of Gus’ story too. Eek this book felt like one big tease in a way. Haha.
Gunner, August, and Harper bring out “all the feels”. Awesome story and Happy Reading!
August James' daughter has been taken from her daycare, and the police don't seem to be that concerned in helping to get her back. So her mother sends her to the Satan's Fury MC because she knew that they would help August. Gunner served in the military, but once he was back home, he felt like he didn't belong near his family, so when he meets Gus at a bar, he takes Gus up on the offer of going on a ride, then joined the MC. He wants August the very minute he spies her, but she shot him down at first, however, the more time they spent together, the more they couldn't resist each other. Their chemistry is off the charts HOT, so sexy times lit the sheets on fire once they finally hooked up. Of course, there are crazy twists, as her daughter got taken, but who did it and why is the big questions. And while that's enough for the f-bombs dropping loudly, there are even more twists to keep them dropping. This story was awesome, and I LOVED Gunner like crazy, as he wasn't the usual playboy biker. Not to mention, the tiny human who belonged to August was so cute, that she just about stole the show. I LOVE this series, and can't wait for more, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Another good story in Satans Fury MC world. Though, I have to confess, I a bit struggled reading this story, because I was so more into in Gus story, then in Gunner. If you read Gus novella in Love, Loyalty & Mayhem anthology, you know why. I couldn't settle and wanted to know everything about Gus story now! I had my theories, and I wasn't happy with what my mind was coming up with. Not sure the true revealed made it 'better' or not. Gus such a great man. He deserved the world. Sheesh! I should stop here. Its Gunners book and I'm going on and on about Gus. LOL. Gunner.... Honeslty, I feel like a broken record, every time writing reviews related to any guys of Satans Fury. I'm pretty sure I even wrote this too. Lol. But seriously, these guys are amazing. A perfect middle between bad and good. They are caring, loyal, bada$$ and sexy, and they don't afraid to do things, to protect what belongs to them. Gunner isn't exception. Loved his connection with August and Harper. Those interactions... Also, if you think, this story is just romance, you are wrong. There's plenty of action too, to spicy it up.
I must say Gunner is my most fave so far out of all L wilders books I've read. I loved the connection Cade and August had from the start. The storyline was great. As soon as I started reading I was hooked. Took me a day to read I couldn't put it down.
I can't wait for the next installment of Gus and Samantha.
I loved harper and her fwozen obsession that August couldn't stand but still watched. August was a great mother to Harper and I loved that she didn't take crap from David the low life. How he didn't react to his daughter getting taken had me wanting to jump in the book and deal with him my self. To think it was nothing them taking his daughter, saying it was fine he would sort it out had me even more angry.
Glad Gus and Viper came together and they sorted them out and they all got what they deserved.
August James shows up at Satan's Fury MC demanding to talk to their President Gus. Her daughter has been kidnapped and her mother sent her to Gus knowing he is the only one who could help. Gus wants answers about August who he suspects is part of a long kept secret.
Gunner saw August earlier in the day and when he is ordered to protect her he steps up knowing he should not act on his attraction to her. August quickly weaves her way into Gunners heart though and knowing what he does he knows he is going to have to be sure of what he wants from her before taking the next step and that August is on the same page.
This was another fantastic addition to this series. I liked August and Gunner a lot. I was not sure what to think of August's mother, was conflicted with her. Otherwise a terrific story that had a few new characters I would love to read more about.
WOW!!! Another fantastic book by one of my favorite authors. I loved Gunner's relationship with Gus. And how he got his road name, rofl! His loyalty to his brothers was strong and true.
To me, August was likable from the very beginning. She didn't just fall at the sexy biker's feet when he threw corny pick-up lines at her. She was focused on finding her daughter any way she could, even if it meant asking the president of the notorious Satan's Fury for help.
There were a few different story lines happening in this book but the author did a great job keeping things clear and weaving it all together when the time came. L. Wilder never disappoints!!!
When August's daughter is kidnapped her mother sends her Gus, the prez, of Satan's Fury MC in Memphis for help. August's ex, the shady mayor, and the cops seem to have no leads.
Gus seems taken back when August explains her situation and who sent her. It's heartbreaking when he realizes truth.
Gunner has always been like as son to Gus. Never in his wildest dreams did he think that a woman could make him feel the way he does.
As evil lurks in the shadows who will be it's next prey?
I think this should be called Gus & Gunner and rightfully so! After leaving us heartbroken and hanging in Gus L. Wilder completely makes up for it with this epic story. The revelations that come to light are astounding
Single Satan's Fury book is amazingly good. Now with the branch off into Memphis & Day Three I'm so thrilled to get more and more from this talented author
There’s just something about big bad men stumbling over themselves to help a woman and child. I absolutely loved that aspect of this book. Gunner held nothing back when it came to his woman and child, and it was perfect. The author made this story more than just a biker MC book. They made it a story of family, loss, and love. It was beautiful and ugly all at the same time, just like life. I felt for each of the characters in the story as they went through their obstacles, and yet, it didn’t feel overwhelmingly sad. There was still light at the end of the tunnel, and everyone kept a smile on their face and a good attitude. I applaud the author for keeping it from getting too dark. Unlike some MC books, this one wasn’t quite as dark and gritty, and it was refreshing. I loved the characters in this story, and they rallied together to protect those in need. Overall, it was a great read!
DNF.. I’m just like a lot of you out there who hate to stop a book before reaching the end... But Damn! 1. Three Year olds are not mature. Even the most mature ones don’t react the way the 3 year old acted in this book. 2. If you threaten to expose someone that has dealings with the mob how are you surprised when they come to hurt or kill you. 3. How are the ratings on this book so high? What are we going to do if the reviews on Goodreads start looking like Amazons??? If YOU (Author) write a good book you WILL get good reviews. Buying them or having a ton of “YES” people around you doesn’t do anything but make you look bad. My advise means nothing I realize but find some people that will be honest with you.
Gunner is a goner, grazed and permanently marked by love
Gunner: Satan’s Fury MC - Memphis (Satan’s Fury MC - Memphis Book 5) by L. Wilder is a wonderfully well written MC romance with plenty of grit and MC justice. Gunner (Cade) and August’s story is really a two for one in a sweet and long over due second chance. I really enjoyed this author’s writing and MC style, character depth and length of detail especially in the characters. The plot was engaging, emotional, suspenseful and some edge of your seat danger too. Overall a very entertaining MC read with alpha characters that are just rough enough sprinkled with sweetness when necessary and tough ladies that go with the flow without being pushovers.
When August James strutted into the MC’s clubhouse, it was a good thing and a bad thing for Cade/Gunner. Less than an hour before, he’d tried to talk to her at a gas station and she’d shot his advances down, now she’s at the clubhouse dropping Gus’ name. After a brief conversation and question and answer session, Gunner’s randomly assigned to look after August.
Apparently, August’s toddler daughter has been kidnapped, she’s the mayor’s child yet only August and her mother seem to be concerned about little Harper’s life. According to August, she’s told the police and a PI she’s hired to take a harder look at her ex since he seems much too calm but neither is looking hard or offering answers. August was on her own. Rating: 4stars
This story was enjoyable with some exciting moments involving the MC club to save a little girl that was kidnapped. Gunner becomes attracted to August the child’s mother. There are some twists and turns along with some secrets that get revealed. Other than some missing words or grammatical errors the book was good.
