Drixonian Warrior #4

The Alien's Revenge

Rate this book
"All I lived for was revenge. Until her."

Miranda: I'm on a strange planet surrounded by blue aliens and women who clearly have Stockholm Syndrome. I'm not content to pump out alien babies and have dinner cooking for my guy after he returns from a long day of hunting and gathering. Independence is great until my solitary exploration leads me right into the hands of a savage, horned alien who barely speaks but has no intention of letting me go. The worst part? His survival skills are actually kinda turning me on.

Drak: After I'm exiled, the only thing on my mind is revenge. Other than that, I'm merely existing as a beast and a shadow of the warrior I once was. Until I see a human female struggling for her life. I save her, but then I find I can't let her go. For the first time, I'm not thinking of revenge, I'm focused on providing for her, feeding her, and keeping her safe. But the one responsible for exiling me isn't done with his betrayal. This time, I'm fighting harder to reclaim my place... and my female.

The Alien's Revenge is a full-length Sci-Fi Romance novel featuring an independent, fiery heroine and a tortured, possessive hero with savage fighting skills.

3.5 stars. I liked the heroine in this book, Miranda - she has strong eldest daughter syndrome and insists on taking on responsibility for everyone else without ever accepting support. Too real.

The hero, Drak, is what I might call a "reformed caveman": when they meet, he can't speak and doesn't remember anything about himself. He just lives alone in a treehouse in the jungle and kills the occasional unsavory alien crossing his territory. Once he meets Miranda he begins to want to remember, and so things start coming back to him.

Much like all Ella Maven books, there's insta-love and fastburn spice. I wish her books were longer, or at the very least took longer to get to the "I love you". Even in this book, the characters are practically in love from the day they meet (at like 30% or 70 pages in).

Terrific main characters!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😤😠🙃😘🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Miranda - she is a friend of Reba from The Alien’s Undoing. She thinks all the women that were kidnapped from Earth have gone a bit crazy and are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome as they have been falling in love with the blue Alien men and having their babies. Miranda doesn’t want to rely on the Drixonians for everything, she wants to go hunting and tracking with the men to learn to take care of herself and the other women.

The Hero: Drak - he was a brave Drixonian warrior before he was exiled. He now lives on his own in the forest. All he thinks about is getting revenge on the one who betrayed him, took everything from him and left him a mute savage. He has a darkness inside of him, his memories are like ghosts and disappear when he reaches for them.

The Story: Another reason Miranda wants to go out hunting was because she was taken from Earth without her glasses and she can barely see unless something is right in front of her face, so she wants to learn about the world around her. She goes out hunting with Gar, who is the best hunter and Krias, the best tracker. Gar is a bit of a grump. She was the only female he tolerated, and she felt a bit of a connection to Gar but she didn’t really like Krias.

Miranda’s dislike of Krias seemed to be verified when he left her alone in the forest when a bunch of the Kulk’s came upon her. The Kulks work for the Uldani, the race that brought the human women to Earth. It seems that Krias had sold her out, when something came out of the forest, killed all the Kulks and took Miranda when she had broken her ankle and passed out.

I have to say that I like the way the Drixonians find out a female is their fated mate, by locks or tattoos that appear on the wrists of both the male and the female. The locks appeared quickly for Miranda and Drak, long before they ever speak to each other. Drak never even had his implant updated with the English language since he was exiled. Though he takes Miranda and takes care of her and her injury.

I also liked that Drak had more depth to him than the Heroes from the previous three books. He had PTSD from both the war and being betrayed and exiled. He couldn’t remember how to speak since he had been alone for so long and the fact that his memories of his past were affected.

Whenever Drak’s memories bombarded him, he would have pain in his head and it would be like a PTSD episode. He was certainly the most interesting Hero so far in this series, the same can be said for Miranda since she was affected by her vision loss, but so willing to go out into the wilderness and learn new things.

Like the last books, this one was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Heather Costa and Jeffrey Kafer. I didn’t like Heather Costa much when I listened to the first book in this series, but I have grown to like her. She is a good narrator and shows a lot of emotion in her voice. Jeffrey Kafer is good, though more of the chapters are in Miranda’s point of view.

Update:
Upon my re-read, I decided to give give this one 5 stars instead of my initial 4.5

Re-reading this July 2025 LBR with my group:
Midnight's Embrace

So another great installment here.

Drak & Miranda were incredible together. But Drak's story, really got to me. Broke my heart in so many ways regarding the things he has suffered and what was basically stolen from him. So much and on top of that, his sanity as well. Many, many levels to the root of his betrayal, and in turn the betrayal to their clavas.

But these wrongs were finally made right. With a lot of tears and actions to back up the words of apologies and guilt that was felt on Drak's behalf from Daz their Drexel and fellow Warriors as well.

Now there were 4 things in this one that was a bit sloppy and annoying. But because the overall story and everything else that had occurred, really got me, I was inclined to still give this one 5 stars.

I just will never get why someone with such a serious physical weakness like what Miranda has, (eye sight) would (1), not say anything after awhile of getting to know her "Girls" since they're so close and all, and (2), would demand to be taken on a hunting trip in the most dangerous trenches of the woods. Dangers she's well aware of.. This is what got the story going, but it was a weak starting point for it. Didn't fit what we are told about the type of level headiness our Miranda possesses.

(3). The constant back and forth on how long Drak was really gone from the Clavas. Was it 15 or 10 years Ms. Maven???? Like I lost count of how many times this plot hole appeared in this 16 chapter book... (Ms. Maven clearly updated this issue, because it was not present when I did my re-read this time around)

(4). The last TSTL action that Miranda makes that brings the story to its climax. Really??? Why would you do that Miranda, why? After EVERYTHING that has already happened, WHY?!!!😤 If I were Drak I would have beat her a&&!

But, it was still an awesome read. In spite of this sloppiness.
I would still recommend this read. This series. Please read in order :)

4 stars. This book gets four stars for the hero. He was really an interesting character in this series, and he went through way more than anyone should ever have to endure. On the other hand, the heroine was definitely dumber than she should have been, considering she was a lawyer on earth. I didn't understand this author's choice to make the well-educated heroine the one who acts like the biggest moron at times. I understand that education doesn't equal street smarts, but damn, she made some REALLY BAD CHOICES. She can't see well because the aliens who stole her didn't bring her glasses, but she still gallivants into danger as if she's mentally impaired instead of vision impaired. Not my cuppa. I like a smart heroine who can make good decisions in every day life too.

Anyways, the story was still really good overall, probably my second favorite of the series just because of the hero.

Safety is the same as with all the other books; virgin hero, heroine had experience

This series so far has hit all the right spots and with a romance bringing a little bit of everything from sweet and touching to intimate and steamy, Drak and Miranda’s story is up there as a fave. If you love an alpha man/alien who will do whatever it takes to protect his love and strong-willed determined ladies who are forces to be reckoned with, then this is that.

Highlights:
I picked up this book as part of my diverse monster romance spreedsheet! I really liked both Miranda and Drak. Miranda has intense oldest sister syndrome and loves to care for others but Drak is the one who takes care of her. I love the language barrier trope and this one reminded me why I prefer alien books before they have a translation chip or whatever the equivalent is in their series. This is my first book in this series and I liked this version of fates mates with the tattoo on the wrist.

Lowlights:
Miranda got dickmatized in the second half of this book which made it much less enjoyable or interesting. She no longer could make logical decisions and was hyper reactive to everything, even when it wasn't necessary. I hate when this happens to good main characters in books like this.

Horn Level: 3/5🌶️

Format:

The Rating
I give this book a 3/5🌟 rating. This book was okay. It didn't make me want to read the whole series but it has all the basic good alien romance tropes.

Still super addicted to this series, folks! I especially loved this one. Even though she had a couple TSTL moments, Miranda was probably my favourite heroine out of all of the ladies so far. She was so practical and level-headed. I loved how she was like, 'Nope, don't need a man,' but then as soon as she met her mate, she was like 'Never mind, I need him.'

I have a total weakness for a wounded hero, and poor Drak had a lot of wounds. So of course I adored him. I've read other books with the "kicked out of the crew for unjust causes" trope, and I have to say, I really appreciated how the author went into Drak's difficultly forgiving the people who wronged him, even after everything was made right. In real life, that kind of shit can take decades to get over, if not a lifetime.

Drak and Miranda were adorable and this book was awesome! Stoked for Gar's story :)

Ok

In the good column, I read the whole book, and I'd still read the next one in the series. In the bad column, the character did something so unbelievable it pulled me out of the story and had me throwing up my hands and saying 'really'. It's a given that author's sometimes have a character do something stupid or out of character in order to move their characters and the story where they want. However in my opinion this book crosses the line from fudging it a bit into unbelievable.

Spoiler alert.
If the girls are days pregnant - not even months, why do they have baby bumps?
If human gestation is 9 months and alien 12, then why would pregnancies be shorter than 9 months?
I don't buy for a second that they've been there for weeks and no one has noticed Miranda is nearsighted. Everyone would know in the first seconds when she squinted &/ or got closer to something to see it. If you wanted to give her a weakness that no one else knew about there are a variety of other more believable choices.
If Miranda is a good judge of character and she doesn't trust Crius she should never have gone off alone with him. It's one or the other you can't have it both ways.
Miranda has to know from the moment the moment the Kulks attack that Crius has betrayed her and it should be the first thing she says when returning to the night kings. As her character is a defense lawyer the lapse in adding 2+2 is more unbelievable.
The warriors are not dumb so why does no one interrogate the traitor? At least ask him what he's already told their enemies? This is basic stuff.
The one that pushed it just too over the line for me, the straw that broke the camel's back, was Miranda sneaking out for flowers when she knew all the dangers. That's just plain stupid. It's beyond stupid, and she is not a stupid character.
Lastly Miranda's ben having sex with a warrior. Everyone else that has done that is pregnant. Why is she not clamoring for a pregnancy test?

A lot of these are simple fixes, which I believe if the author took the time to consider & address would improve the stories. It's sci-fi romance. I don't expect everything to make sense, and fudging a few things here and there is largely accepted. As long as they don't pull you out of the story.

Unbelievable it gets better with every book - the limit is 5 stars so I will stay there.
Drak and Miranda are so perfect for each other to complete each other’s - awesome! Good written, captivating story, twists and turns, thrilling and entertaining and sensible at each point. A beautiful story in this amazing universe.

Only one shadow one factor got me out every occasion it comes to the time of Drak’s cast out and solitude: 10 or 15 cycles? It’s like a spot you want to scratch and can’t reach.

Short and cute alien read. Didn’t really need any prior knowledge of the series as it works fine as a standalone. Like my favorite caveman series, simply leaving the safety of the compound while on an alien planet will likely get you in trouble but if you’re lucky a stray (good) alien will whisk you away and/or kidnap you depending on your perception 🤪 This was fairly lighthearted though I am left with residual anger on the hero’s behalf. He was cast out 15 years ago as a traitor and honestly it’s ridiculous.

These books just get better and better each time!

This book was totally a step up! I love that SOMEBODY finally covered the fact that kidnapping aliens don't act on your convenience...

Being someone of the medicated variety (which anymore, who isn't), the idea that you could be taken, and now you have to survive without that daily functioning med's, would be Daym. Near. Impossible.
I feel like every heroine kidnapped by aliens to this point conveniently doesn't have any day-to-day medications she has to take, needs hearing aids to hear, has to receive insulin shots, Just Any Sort Of Inconvenience In Our Body's Day To Day Survival.

Until Now.

We've had family left behind, we've had significant others left behind, BUT we ain't never had key equipment to aid in our personal functioning and day-to-day-survival left behind.

Until Mutha Effin' Now Homie.

Miranda's vision Sucks. With a Capital S, Hun. She has to find a way to cope and survive on an alien planet, and find a way to adapt without everyone knowing that she can't see clearly. And it's another capital S word y'all. STRUGGLE . It's so amazing finally seeing this addressed! I love the thought that a captive has some sort of physical handicap and isn't just a scared nervous Nelly, but is not just dealing with the physical changes of environment and cultures, but also A Physical Disadvantage.

I would seriously LOVE to see a story where someone who takes a regular medications or prescription that helps you function would deal with being kidnapped to an alien planet. I think there is so much potential for struggle, but also for seeing a strong character deal with all the horrors of EVERY aspect, and to become strong in their own way.

Thats the way I saw Miranda, and it was seriously a treat!

Now Drak, I think so far he's probably my fav. Alien H in the series. For Realz. There's just something about a strong silent type. I found myself the whole time thinking of an alien Tarzan; doesn't remember how to speak, doesn't remember things from his past, fiercely protective of his mate,Big-Strong-& Gentle, Loin cloths...

It's seriously every quality I swoon over.

So Overall, another fantastic addition to what is quickly becoming one of my favorite alien series'.

Now, HONEY.

“I wish I could talk to him like you do. He pretends I don’t exist.” “That’s not true.” She gave me a suffering look. “Okay, fine, he actively avoids me.” I bit my lip on the denial because she wasn’t lying. When they did interact, Gar barely looked at her.

I have never been so ready for a book in my life. BRING ON NAOMI AND GAR!!!

She was my mate, and I was hers. No matter what this rotation held, or the next, or the one after, I'd always, always belong to her. My cora beat for her.

5 stars!

Even though the basics of each novel in this series is similar (human meets alien on a strange planet and falls in love against her better judgement), I can honestly say that each story is unique and gets better with each new couple. I absolutely loved Miranda as I completely related to her independence and need to have some control in her life. Drak's gentle yet confused soul was such a great compliment to her tenacity, while also giving Miranda the perfect outlet for her caring nature. I also really loved the way their protectiveness and vulnerability for each other taught them to accept their bond and how to move forward together. The sexy scenes nearly set my kindle ablaze, and I cannot wait to continue this series!

Tropes: fated mates, scarred hero with tragic past, independent heroine, alien abduction, Tarzan and Jane vibes, outcast hero, heroine-in-danger, alien romance, size difference, language barrier, 'touch her and die' vibes, band of brothers, found family, STEAMY🔥

I will be honest, I was a little disappointed when I realized Gar's book wouldn't be next. I was unsure about going into this book because I really hadn't connected with Drak. I mean we have only seen him briefly. I was worried I wouldn't connect to the story... Well folks, mark the date and time because I was wrong. This book totally worked and it was another perfect Drixonian match!

Miranda has been a mother to the earth girls and now little sister to Gar. She was a lawyer on earth and had been responsible for taking care of her younger siblings, so she naturally became someone the women look up to. She's independent and wants to contribute to the clavas, but she's hiding one tiny little thing....that may cause her problems down the road.

The story starts with Miranda talking Gar into teaching her how to track and hunt, and Gar invites another Drixonian along to provide assistance. Next thing you know, Miranda is off track and separated from the Drixonians and under attack...this is where we meet Heart/Drak.

Oh, Drak. You poor, lost soul. Drak has been hurt, he has been betrayed, and he has lost himself. He is almost feral, but he comes to Miranda's rescue swooping down like Tarzan from the trees. As a matter of fact, he is a lot like Tarzan, lost and alone, not sure what do do with the earth woman he just rescued.

Miranda is somehow able to reach him, and slowly the Drixonian that Drak used to be starts coming back to the surface. Drak's story is a sad one, and it made me angry how much he was hurt, but Miranda was the seed he needed to bloom. As she heals from her injuries they become close, but what will happen when they are attacked again. Will Drak put Miranda first and risk himself? Will he figure out who he is as the fog starts to lift?

This book was wonderful and suspenseful and a great read. I have enjoyed this different take on Alien Romance. I mean come on... an entire race that believes "She is All"... yes please! I am really enjoying this series and cannot wait for Gar's book! So yes, I am going to keep reading and yes, I do recommend!

Ah, I loved Drak. There’s something so special about a nearly feral man coming back to himself for the woman he cares for, not just for her either, for himself too under her loving guidance. It was just a great story. Their bonding & how they complemented each other was perfection.

Even with that though Miranda wasn’t my favorite, lol. At times she honestly was TSTL and too sure of herself and put herself at risk when she should’ve known better, it’s one of my biggest pet peeves in alien romances — you’re human, babe. You are not equipped for this planet or it’s trials, just accept that.

Less of a complaint and just a lament, I wish we had gotten some more answers about the enemy & where the stolen soldiers are but I understand the plot value for the rest of the series and why the author didn’t. Cryus’s arc was a little unsatisfying from a justice standpoint but I love that the author made Drak’s revenge not the point, and for that to work Cryus’s story had to go the way it did.

My other favorite part to end this out on a high note was the overall interactions with the other characters in the series, I really loved Gar’s bond with Miranda. I loved how the girls rally behind her and how the warriors come together to fight, defend, and honor the women. I like that the couples don’t just fade into the background like with some series, we get to see their progressions too and they remain important. It makes me look forward to the rest of the series so I can see how Miranda & Drak flourish too.

This was such a short and easy listen! Although aliens are far out of my usual comfort zone, I enjoyed it. I didn't read the other books, so I was a little confused about the world at first. The relationship between Drak and Miranda escalated quickly, but I liked the steaminess that we got. I mostly enjoyed learning more about Draks past and why he was exiled, and I was fully invested in the suspense surrounding him. However, I feel like we still barely know the characters. There's just not a lot of depth to them, especially Drak. The drama was also quite annoying, Anyway, short and steamy!

Continuing the story of the female stranded on this strange planet with the Drixioan warriors. This was one of my favorites, storywise. If you are thinking of quitting this series, read this one first.

I love Drax. I was hoping he would be a true innocent virgin but, even with his amnesia and other problems he still seemed to remember how to perform. Also, it was the female POV while he was losing his V-card. I don’t care about her thoughts, I wish I could know what his feelings and thoughts were while he did it for the first time.
Like I have said before, it is has to rate these Drixonian virgins. This one, Drax, for example. He has never seen a female. He never had an erection before until he met his “core eternal”. So, should be a no-brained. 5/5 for “innocence”. Except… all Drixonian males have been trained in hard-core sexually pleasing a mate. This includes piercing all over. Sooo.. they are not really innocent on the ways of love. They know just what to do even though they have never done it.

Virgin rating:
Innocence of virgin hero: 4/5
Innocence in losing it: 4/5
Build up to losing it: 2/5
Hotness of losing it: 3/5
Busted touching himself: no

4.5 - Drak Is the Sweetest - Stars

As stated in my previous review, this one is my favorite of the Drixonian Warriors series. We have a trope of amnesia, silent hero who is protective of and takes such sweet care of his mate. We have a heroine who is happy to just be a big sister to the other females and has no plans to be the mate of one of the warriors. However, circumstances change when she is attacked by some K something (can't recall their names LOL, Kluck's but that' not quite right. LOL) and Drak saves her life.

This is such a sweet story of a woman who has always taken care of others, finally getting taken care of by someone else. And a male, Drak, who is scarred from what happened in the past, both externally and internally. He is mute and can't speak and has no memory of why he is alone, just that he has someone he needs to take his revenge against.

As with the other cora-eternals, when Miranda is hurt by one of the other aliens and Drak kills him, their loks appear. Miranda wants nothing to do with it and Drak is confused by it, but both are drawn to each other.

Anyway, I just loved their story. I loved their time together and how they had some hot sexy times and some very sweet times. Drak is a cuddler and just loves holding Miranda.

They are attacked again and they have to return to the Night Kings. Drak has a flashback after the evil aliens call him "Drixonian" and he knows that he has to protect Miranda. We of course, then get some great scene since he was cast out years ago for "betraying" them. I loved how protective and fierce Miranda was over Drak.

Just a really great read and fast one too. Again, I love the interactions inside the compound and the family atmosphere.

Off to read the next one about Gar and Naomi!!!

Random Thought:

💜 Drak is just so sweet.

💜 He takes care of Miranda and it so makes my heart melt.

💜 He calls her "his bloom" and it is so sweet.

💜 See?

💜 He is just plain sweet.

Definitely pick up this series! Thanks again to ~*~Princess Nhya~*~ for getting me hooked on this series!!!

"Everything she touched seemed to sparkle. Around her, colors were brighter. The sun was warmer. I felt less like a savage."

One thing I thought about while reading this fourth installment in the Drixionian Warriors series is that there is something quite cute about falling in love without speaking. In a way, it's all about feeling and really seeing without the complication of words. Of course there is the language barrier between Drixonian and humans, but our Warrior in this one has his own troubles with communicating.

Drak was once a respected member of the Knight Kings Clavas, before he was betrayed and cast out. Now he has amnesia about his life before his exile, suffers from PTSD, and struggles to speak. When Miranda gets lost and then captured, Drak is there to save her. Then the loks appear, revealing that they are each other's fated mates.

I liked that although Miranda never wanted a mate, she didn't try to resist the connection between them. She saw the brokenness in Drak, and she wanted to bring happiness to him again. Miranda and Drak were a sweet pair and a great addition to the lovely mated couples in the clavas thus far. The friendships in this series is also something to be admired.

Wow! I blew through that fast. I couldn't put it down. I love these big blue alien bikers and how they care for their women. This particular story was interesting in how it dealt with PTSD. I love how the author describes the scenes, and the characters are well developed too. My only beef with the books in this series are the typos. Supposedly this author has been writing books for a long time under a different name. She shouldn't have so many typos and grammar errors in her books. I found 16 in this one.

This one was another Fav!!! I thoroughly enjoyed Miranda and Drak's story. The twists made the story all the more interesting and was captivating to the very end. If you're interested in Romance with a sexy Alien, Alpha male that will protect his mate at all cost, a strong willed and beautiful black female lead, steamy scenes, and an interesting story line, then this is definitely one for you!! If the other books in this series is anything like this one, then I'll be hooked!!

The Good: There's something about the way Ms. Maven has set up this 'verse that continues to draw me in. I like the usual protective alien heroes, but I really like the setup for the overarching storyline and the bread crumbs in each installment keep me wanting more. I also have a soft spot for the tortured hero who's been hurt through no fault of his own. Drak is pretty great.

The Bad: In this particular installment, I'm not a fan of using dumb moves by an allegedly smart heroine to drive plot. It was frustrating and unecessary. I like Miranda and she's supposed to be a lawyer, but damn if there's two particular times when she's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

The Bottom Line: I like the series, even if this isn't necessarily a top fave for me.

Didn’t really care to read Miranda’s story but this one ended up being one of my favorites in the series. Drak pulled at my heart right away. Lots of fun banter with the other characters as well.

Okay, before I write anything else, can I make a quick complaint unrelated to Drak and Miranda?

Anna and Tark have been hot-n-heavily together without contraceptives for TEN YEARS, and Drixonians are particularly virile, but their daughter (singular) is only five. No babies before or after her. Could someone explain this to me? Please? /endunrelatedcomplaint#1

And one more complaint - we're being TOLD that Tark & Anna had to join the Night Kings because of Uldani unrest, but... we haven't actually SEEN any Uldani unrest, or have any reason for the species to BE unrestful, so... it kinda feels like 'unrest' is a cheap reason for the author to get all the human chickas together in one place. Not s'good feeling for the reader. /endunrelatedcomplaint #2

Now on to my review. Which also includes a few complaints. Maven made me do a search on YouTube for Beyonce, and I actually, literally LOST BRAIN CELLS on that shit. WTFleck?! That's what these women listen to?! Seriously. ((shakes head)) I'm decking an entire star, just for that.

The story is MOSTLY good. Drak was wrongly exiled years ago. In order to survive away from his pack, he had to block out everything from *before*, and that left him kind of like Tarzan. No concept of society, no memories, no idea who he was or what he'd been or what he'd done. He's a jungle man. And also, he'd been slashed across the neck in such a way to have sustained damaged vocal chords, so he doesn't speak.

Enter Miranda. Miranda is *conveniently* a defense attorney who fate bonds to him, so she can argue his case before the clavas. Which is another reason I'm over here, rolling my eyes. (Miranda rights, anyone?)

But what I really disliked was the vision thing. When Maven brought up that Miranda was near-sighted and abducted at night when she didn't have her glasses on (so she sees everything as blurry)? I geeked - it was a GREAT premise! But then it went mostly undeveloped and barely used, in the story. It could've been saved and turned into a whole story of its own. Instead, it was like an afterthought that popped up ONCE in the story before it was used as a convenient excuse for her to get captured toward the end of the book. Ugh. If she had to ASK to get back in the camp? It was unnecessary. All the way around. A device that was superfluous to the story but would've made a GREAT center for a different book.

More, if your hero has a neck injury that makes it so he can't speak? LEAVE IT. It doesn't miraculously heal when he starts to remember everything he blocked out. That doesn't even make sense. It's like the six billion books about guys who are paralyzed and then *yay, love!* is somehow healed because happily ever after. Not okay with it. It's all right for people to be flawed and continue on, anyhow. Muscle damage/scarring isn't something that rights itself with time and TOTAL lack of use, hello.

Maven's got great ideas. She's just complicating her world up with too much too fast, to try to one-up herself, and it's showing. The first two were amazing books, but it was because they focused on ONE uniquely derived plot device that could be woven around. This is... just messy and not as well executed, because of it.
