Competition for the same job makes quick enemies of Darcy and Emilia. But getting stranded in the Patagonian wilderness means they'll have to work together if they want to make it home. Despite finding themselves constantly in conflict as they make their way across the mountains, they can't help but notice there is more to bring them together than there is to keep them apart. It's cold outside amongst the glaciers and granite peaks, but there's a fire between them they can't ignore. Can they find a way to each other's hearts before it's too late?
I write the books I want to read. I hope you like them too. I live in a small, coastal community in Australia. Whenever I can, I go travelling. If I'm not writing something it's probably because I'm reading.
Unfeasible and forced. I do really try to suspend belief - but there's only so much you can take before you realize the scenarios being presented are not anywhere in the realm of legitimacy, which takes me right out of the story, before it even begun.
I liked the premise, but the execution was just bad. We are supposed to believe a professional non-dodgy Tourism Company doing mountains tours in Patagonia will send two newbie tour guides, one who has mountain experience / one who doesn't - neither who have ever been in the region before. Both who are vying for the same position - sent out alone by themselves on a 7 day trek, to 'prove themselves' without any other assistance or guides. Also told to just 'camp along the way' even though it states that it's technically illegal to do so, and incredibly dangerous. Like what? and they both agree to this plan of unsound mind and unsafety?
I really wanted to like this. Some simple escapism into the mountains and some forced proximity romance, sounded fun - but the setup was so entirely unbelievable that I couldn't even get passed the first few chapters.
It's a short and cute story not exceptionally written but not horrible either. The development was vague but it was there, some chapters were too short and could've been combined but the concept was different so give it a try. Also I'd love to here that Tomas business crashed he was such an asshole
i liked this short from almost the begining, i don't pick up anything shorter than a 100 pages, there's no time to set out caractures or plot. i liked darcy' kind thoughtfull who had dropped everything not even telling her mother she was leaving, and flying around the world to maybe start a job as a mountain pass guide, she met emilia in the city who always said hi and asked after her day, and i suspect darcy quite liked the pretty girl they met again in the hotel but this was the meating with thomas about the mountain guide, and we learn that they are both up for one job (a compatition) both girls have limited experience of the terrain and emilia has none, the flight over darcy had a young girl sat next to her although darcy wouldnt talk the young girl was persisting and i thought this was the m/cs (a tease) the fact that two inexperienced girls where going to be put together with no back up no way of calling for help in an emerjentsy on a new pass was highly irresponcable, but they both ok,ed the boss. i am no climber but even i know the higher up you go the colder and worse the weather gets, and emilia had worn sandles on a volcanoe trek i liked the two nights they had to spend in the rangers hut sleeping in darcy's sleeping bag for wormth from the storm and so sweet just cuddled together for warmth and at least a bed beneath them.
An enjoyable read. The details seem a little soft as to surviving in a harsh mountain environment but the story is engaging and the characters likable.
The characters were very interesting and enjoyable as well as very descriptive. The writer also described the areas the story took place in in such a manner that made this reader feel that she could feel the experience of being there with them. Throughout the story it was written in a way that kept the readers attention wanting more of the story to unfold. The drama and tension even though it was there was kept low enough not to spoil the storyline. I recommend this book as a very good read for anyone in the future.
