A charming ending to possibly the first series I’ve ever read start to finish?! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Ansley Murphy is in a much better place. She has a devoted man in her life, and all of her daughters are happy. Nevertheless, Ansley feels unsettled.
Emerson, Ansley’s youngest daughter, is an actress. She’s recently engaged and in a high place in her career and still climbing, yet something is worrying Emerson, too.
Two new women come to Peachtree Bluff who could shatter both Ansley and Emerson’s worlds. There are also big secrets that could divide the sisters and their mother in ways they never could have imagined.
I’ve said it before, but Kristy Woodson Harvey is a smoooooooth and precise writer. I read once that she deeply edits her own writing, making sure each word flows into the next, and I think it shows (and I could benefit from her skills in editing!). I have worried and fretted about this being the last book in the series, that I would miss these characters (and I definitely will!), but this book added something new for the sisters and Ansley, while also offering closure, and that’s what all series lovers want more than anything.
The Southern Side of Paradise has secrets, spicy drama, and enthralling family dynamics between sisters and mother-daughter, as well. Because I’ve known these characters through three books now, they have become like family, and they were still evolving and surprising me, too.
And, at the heart of Kristy Woodson Harvey’s stories? The most beautiful, charming, smart quotes that have me highlighting my book or Kindle over and over again. Love it!
If you are looking for a treasure of a read and a warmhearted, entertaining series you can binge on, check out the ladies of Peachtree Bluff!
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Readers of Southern fiction will love the delightful setting, the realistic characters and the intricate plot.
SUMMARY Ansley Murphy should be content, Jack, the man of her dreams is back in her life again and all three of her daughters are happy. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.
Emerson, the youngest daughter, is recently engaged and has just landed the acting role of lifetime in LA. She seemingly has the world by the tail. Emerson’s sisters Sloane and Caroline are planning the wedding of the year, but not everything goes according to plan.
When Ansley’s secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.
REVIEW Oh those Murphy women in Peachtree Bluff! They make me laugh, they make me cry and they make me rush to turn the pages of this fun and captivating book. There is never a dull moment in Ansley’s white clapboard house on the waterfront. Everytime her front door opens you may want to brace yourself for another gut-wrenching surprise. Ansley says she doesn’t really like surprises; but her mother has always told her she better get used to them, because life is nothing but one surprise after another.
Harvey’s writing is delightful and she is a great Southern storyteller. She makes me want to pop over to Peachtree Bluff to visit with Ansley, Emerson, Caroline and Sloane. It will be nice to meet Jack, but I have really wanted to meet the handsome Kyle for a long time. Not only does he personally deliver coffee to Ansley’s house, but in this book, he has come up with a new drink—the Starlite Starlet—which just made me fall in love with him all over again. and the drink sounds pretty good too...
Even though this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone, but why would you want to miss all the fun in the previous two books!

Thanks to Netgalley, Gallery Books and Kristy for an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Ahh what a bittersweet review this is for me, I’ve been a fan of this series since the beginning and have been both anxiously awaiting the third and final book but also dreading it, simply because I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters that I have come to adore. In case you want to see me gush over the other books in this series here’s my reviews for Slightly South of Simple and The Secret to Southern Charm, all highly recommended by me!
Three books in and it’s finally Emerson’s time to shine! Each book focuses on one of the Murphy sisters and you also hear from their mom, Ansley in alternating chapters, so by this point these characters feel like family. I’ve loved watching their family dynamics shift over the course of the series, so much has changed for all of them since the first book and I feel like things have come full circle for each of the Murphy women as well.
There have been some family secrets lurking in the background all along and all the unanswered issues and questions are resolved here, and for me, everything came to a totally satisfying conclusion. These women have messy, complicated relationships, both with each other and also in their romantic relationships and things were handled in a way that felt true and genuine. As much as this whole series feels heartfelt this one took that to a whole new level, I teared up a few times, I laughed, I was surprised and most of all I closed this one feeling completely content and ready to say goodbye to Peachtree Bluff, even though it was with a tinge of sadness.
The Southern Side of Paradise in three words: Charming, Sincere and Entrancing.
Yes, I did receive this book as an ARC, and I have to tell you I should have never read the preceding two books before I attempted this book. Since book one was simply OK, and I hated book two, I had gone into this one with shallow expectations -I was really not disappointed. I am astonished as to how many people also got an ARC of this book and adored it.
I'm going to leave my thoughts about that to myself.
This book can be read as a stand-alone since there is so much back story in it. (too much back-story) This is a very fast read.
I'm not too fond of repetitive books, filled with repetitive back-story, are angsty, make grown women look like spoiled *itches, make grown women look like children with no brains.
Come summertime; I want to read light, fun, nearly brainless reads...this was not so. I appreciate that these women went through a lot of anguish, but I resented the fact that these books were more about the mother than the daughters. Plus, the mother's angst was so repetitive that I wanted to yell at her to stop beating a dead horse already!
If I needed to compare these women to anyone in real life, it would be the Kardashians.
Yes, this book did have a HEA for almost everyone, but the trip to that point was very painful for me. It also had several small twists that most readers could see coming a mile away: NO surprises here, no mysteries, just a lot of whining.
I'm sorry, but since I seem to be the only one that is unhappy with these books, you are just going to have to make up your mind on your own. The other reviewers simply see something that I do not see.
Ansley and Emerson story is such a fun one. I did not read the first two books in this series I am planning on reading them soon. I love the Mother daughter story line in this book. I won a copy on Goodreads and I had to share it with you all. I would say get the whole series so that you can meet all three sisters and find out all about each one of them. Ansley is the mom and her place in thi book was good and it can be read as a stand alone but I think reading all three will give you more insight. This was a 4 star read for me.
Kristy "dazzles" in my favorite book of this series!
Last day! Enter Here **Book Giveaway Contest ** Peachtree Bluff Three Book Series Set (paperback/US only) April 22-May 7, 2019. Winner announced May 8 along with my Q&A with Kristy Newsletter.
A favorite Southern author, Kristy Woodson Harvey delivers a bittersweet heartwarming conclusion to her popular Peachtree Bluff trilogy with THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF PARADISE. (what a knock out cover). Fans will be excited for this final book in the series, yet will miss all the fabulous characters (male and female).
My "favorite book" of the series with some shockers you do not see coming! An avid Jack fan and delighted for a happy ending! Top Books of 2019. Five stars +
Things get heated as secrets from the past come to the surface with this lovable cast of characters: Mother Ansley and daughters Caroline, Sloane, and Emerson.
Emerson takes center stage as she faces whether to marry her childhood sweetheart and be pulled back to Peachtree Bluff, choose her career, or possibly another love interest. Being true to one's self is an ongoing theme.
While there are two weddings to plan, some unexpected characters from the past surface, causing further complications.
Will Jack and Ansley finally get their second chance and happily ever after, and will all the girls understand the choices made out of love?
Set in the charming historic Southern town, Kristy Woodson Harvey delivers top-notch storytelling, with fully developed characters for a multi-generational and inspiring story of love, hope, family, and forgiveness.
I am a huge Ansley/Jack fan and could not imagine how this would wind up. Kristy once again exceeded all expectations! Some Ah....moments.
Kristy's Ansley reminds me of Wendy Wax's (Ten Beach Road) character: Madeline Singer. Both are mothers and grandmothers. Both have put their family first throughout their lives. However, however, now late in life, they are finally getting their second chance for happiness with the men they love. Since I am in this age group, I adore these two authors, series, and characters!
I have read all of Kristy's books since her first, and knew then she would be a star! As I have mentioned in the past, "think". . . Emily Giffin, Dorothea Benton Frank, Mary Kay Andrews, Mary Alice Monroe, Wendy Wax, Karen White, and Patti Callahan Henry— combined with Kristy's own unique, charming signature style.
With her winning savvy style, her passion, and love of family, community, and the South —resonate throughout each page. What a perfect beach read and furthermore a "must-read" summer series. Do not leave for vacation without it.
Very excited to announce the upcoming Q&A Elevator Ride Interview with Author Kristy Woodson Harvey, coming May 8! Lots of fun facts from this extraordinary author.
I highly recommend each of her books. One of the top Southern Contemporary authors out today!
PS, Thank you, Kristy, for including me in your acknowledgments. Honored, flattered, and humbled. As always, a delight to receive an early reading copy thanks to Gallery Books, Kristy, and NetGalley.
The Southern Side of Paradise is the last book in the Peachtree Bluff series by Kristy Woodson Harvey, and I just LOVED every single bit of it. It's told from Emerson and Ansley's points of views this time, and they are going through so much in this book! We also hear more from sisters Caroline and Sloane who each have some major life events of their own going on.
Book three picks up where book two left off, so I was already anxiously awaiting to see where the story was going to go and wow, I was not disappointed at all like you sometimes are when you pick up a sequel, especially the last book in a series. Kristy masterfully handled all the threads of the last book, and I was left reading it feeling as if I had learned some important lessons about family, friendship, and love along the way.
In this book, Emerson seems to have everything she could ever want—her acting career is phenomenally taking off and she's in love with a wonderful guy. But is her life exactly the way she wants it?
Ansley's story has fascinated me during the previous two books. She's a lot like me, a mother who would and will sacrifice everything for her children. I so loved that about her character. She's been through so much (no, I won't say what), so I had my fingers crossed she'd get a happily ever after.
I laughed, I cried, I even got frustrated with some of the characters but Kristy does such a wonderful job of making you feel as if you are part of each of the character's lives, friends or family even, that it's just so easy to get caught up in their emotions and care so deeply about what is going on with them. As much as I wanted to read this book, I was sad since it's the last book and I knew I'd be saying goodbye to characters whom I'd grown to love so much and a place, Peachtree Bluff, that has felt so much like home.
Everyone, this series is just amazing and will forever be on my list of favorites...favorite series, favorite characters, favorite setting, and favorite author...it just has it all! The characters are richly developed, the plot is perfectly developed, and Kristy's writing is just gorgeous. I cannot recommend you pick up a copy of The Southern Side of Paradise more or that you read the other books in the series, Slightly South of Simple and The Secret to Southern Charm! If you can't tell, I love this book!
**Thank you, Gallery Books and Kristy Woodson Harvey for the gifted review copy in exchange for my honest review.**
Kristy Woodson Harvey, this was the perfect ending to the Peachtree Bluff Series! I’m going to miss the Murphy girls...and Jack (who is my book boyfriend). This book is all about love—first loves, everlasting loves, parental love, sibling love—the all-encompassing love of family that celebrates the good times, and helps us through the bad times. Did I mention there are secrets? The kinds of secrets that threaten even the closest relationships... Grab some sweet tea, relax in a chaise lounge, and forget everything else so that you can spend time with Ansley, Caroline, Sloane, Emerson, and of course, Jack. If you haven’t read the other books in this series, you can easily catch up with the background the author provides. But I recommend you read them first, because you don’t want to miss a moment with this family.
5 ★ I’m so sad this is the last book in Kristy’s Peachtree Bluff Series. I’ve enjoyed every single book and my time spent with Georgia and the Murphy girls, I absolutely loved this southern series! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see Vivi have her own book ;) Highly recommend!! ❥
I needed light reading and thought I'd finish out this series. But at this point the characters just annoyed me. Emerson was just selfish and whiny. Predictable ending.
It’s not often I feel…content after the end of a series. More often than not, I am left wanting more, finding loose ends, not liking what the author decided to do, you name it. The Southern Side of Paradise didn’t make me endure any of that. The end of this era was delightfully satisfying, as I imagine a Starlite Starlet would be (you’ll get it when you read it).
I have been with Kristy Woodson Harvey’s series from the beginning. I’ve adored Ansley and her daughters from the very start. First with Caroline, then Sloan, all while following Ansley’s own life along the way. With Paradise, it’s youngest daughter Emerson’s turn. She has tough decisions to make, life lessons to learn, and with a close family like that, you know each sister will say her piece.
The Southern Side of Paradise was the perfect close to the Peachtree Bluff series. I felt everyone ended up where they should be, even with a few surprises along the way. If you haven’t already, pick up Slightly South of Simple and The Secret to Southern Charm and dig in so you’re ready for Paradise.
I received an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
When I received this book, I must have been living under a rock and did not know this was a series! I just adored the cover! This is the third and final installment in the Peachtree Bluff series. Reading a book in a series out of order, is like meeting a new friend. You find out all about their present, and get glimpses into their past. Once you become better friends, this is when you find the hidden pieces.
This was a quick read during a cold month. What better time to read about warm weather and family! Being the youngest of 3 girls, I am a sucker for stories like this. The author does a wonderful job of filling in all the pieces of the previous books without it being redundant. I did not feel lost at all. But, I now need to get the other books and read them to find all the pieces. Reading this story is like sitting down with a friend over a great cup of coffee! The characters are all likeable, realistic and flawed. The writing flows easily from one family member to another.
Thanks to Ms. Harvey and #TallPoppyWriters for this ARC. All opinions are my own!
The final book in a series you love is always bittersweet; I want to revisit the characters I’ve come to love so much but that also means I’ll have to say goodbye. Kudos, Kristy Woodson Harvey for creating a cast of characters that incite these feelings and this is absolutely true of the Peachtree Bluff series and the Murphy girls. In Slightly South of Simple, I rooted for tough sister Caroline, in The Secret to Southern Charm, I felt Sloane’s fear with her husband overseas and now, its youngest sister Emerson’s turn.
Without offering spoilers from the first two in this series, Emerson is faced with a lot of decisions in the final installment and the way Woodson Harvey writes the scenarios between the sisters and the mothers really comes to life off the page. I feel their struggles, I giggle at their quips and I love to see their smiles. Goodbye Murphy girls & Peachtree Bluff, it’s been such a pleasure to join your world the last three years!
Thank you to Gallery books for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
Okay another book that took me by surprise by how much I enjoyed it! I’m no stranger to family drama, so that’s what sucked me in to the plot. The Southern Side of Paradise is a story of sisterhood and secrets, and mystery.
Told from the point of view by Emerson and Ansley, we see the story unfold between this group of sisters. Book Three, this tells the sacrifices that Ansley must endure as a mother, Emerson appears to be on top, having it all.
This really is the perfect series if you’re looking for a book that has richly developed characters, and it will have you laughing and crying and pulling for these sisters.
*Thank you to netgalley and Gallery Books for this complimentary book. All opinions are my own.
With every installment in the Peachtree Bluff Series, I fall in love all over again with the charming Murphy women and the charismatic men in their lives. The love these three sisters and their devoted mother have for one another binds this family together through thick and thin. And there is plenty of thick in this action-pack drama to hold you spellbound until the last word. One can only hope we’ll see more from this unique cast of characters and their magical Southern coastal town in the future.
Title: The Southern Side of Paradise Author: Kristy Woodson Harvey Genre: Southern fiction Rating: 2 out of 5
Ansley Murphy has everything she’s ever wanted…finally. The man she’s always loved is back in her life. Her three daughters are in town and happy. Her business is taking off. Ansley can’t help but feel like the other shoe is about to drop.
Her youngest daughter, Emerson, and actress and recently engaged, just landed a dream role and got engaged, but her health is worrying her, and she feels like she’s missing something when she should be focused on planning her wedding. When secrets that were never meant to be told come out, the sisters’ bond with their mother turns fragile, as all stand on the brink of life-changing decisions.
I’m just going to be up-front: I could not stand these characters, and that made me dislike this book intensely. This is clearly my own issue. The writing is great, and the small southern town setting is very well done. But…seriously? Ansley spends half her time justifying the fact that she cheated on her husband for years…so they could have children. She knew it was wrong, but she makes excuses to herself anyway. Emerson is whiny and childish, prone to throwing a fit if she doesn’t get her way, and she’s so self-absorbed she can’t even see the person standing right next to her. She’s also pretty heartless, and her morals are highly questionable (Wonder where she learned that from?) Sister Caroline is a controlling witch, who also makes excuses for her bad behavior (Yes, her husband cheated on her very publicly, which was terrible, but that doesn’t mean you get to treat everyone around you badly). Sloane wasn’t enough of a presence for me to actually care about her, but she was the only one who was likable. I’d read this author again, but not these characters.
(Galley courtesy of Gallery Books via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.)
I've been on pins and needles waiting for Emerson's story for around a year and yet, I almost didn't want to read her story since I knew this would be the end of the series.
Peachtree Bluff may be fictional, but I can see it in my mind's eye perfectly. It's the kind of place that summer would seem never-ending and you could feel good about your children growing up in.
The main story is told from Emerson and Ansley's POV, but don't think for a minute that Caroline and Sloane are silent (or don't have their own things going on). Caroline, for me, has really grown on me (and grown in her storyline) as the books were published and in SSOP, she really shined.
There were times I really felt for Emerson (she had A LOT thrown at her in this book) and there were times she needed to take 10 deep breaths before speaking at least 1 time in the book. However, I'm giving her a pass because she was dealing with A LOT and I know where she was coming from was a place of confusion and wanting to know that she was always going to be loved.
In the end, the charm is thick in The Southern Side of Paradise and we could all stand a trip to Peachtree Bluff to renew our spirits.
1 thing that really tickled me was knowing that one of Kristy's fave books got a major shout-out in this book. I love when authors work some personal details into their character's lives :)
Thanks to the publisher for my free copy. So, I have a confession - when I was asked to review this book, originally I figured I could just read it as a stand-alone, skipping the first two books in the series because #swamped and my TBR is overflowing. Thankfully, a friend told me that I HAD to read the first two, and that they were definitely worth it. Still skeptical, I grabbed them from the library and settled in for the long haul. Y’all, I am SO GLAD I stumbled into this series (and didn’t try to read skip to book 3) - it was so good! I quickly fell in love with the setting (beach town, yes please!), the 3 sisters and the entire Murphy family. These were 4 strong, kick-ass female protagonists. Are they perfect? No, but who is? I absolutely loved them and wanted to hang with them, ASAP. I grew up with brothers, so sister stories always fascinate me. . While I loved books 1 & 2, book 3 was definitely my favorite, and what a finale finish for the series. I found myself in tears multiple times throughout the story, partly out of nostalgia, but also because @kristywharvey has crafted such a realistic world that I found myself wholly invested in these characters and their lives. These would make great summer reads, and YES, you absolutely must read books 1 & 2 before you read book 3, out TODAY. I cannot recommend this series enough, and I can’t wait to read what Kristy writes next!
Ansley has all of her daughters home and she's with her first love, but something just isn't right. Her youngest daughter, Emerson, recently got engaged to her high school sweetheart, but things with that relationship aren't exactly what Ansley was hoping for. Plus, Emerson's dealing with some health issues, which terrifies Ansley. Plus, there's secrets from the previous books that are coming to the surface and will challenge the Murphy sisters and Ansley as well. The third and final novel in the Peachtree Bluff series, The Southern Side of Paradise, is a heartwarming beach read that fans of the series will enjoy. Read the rest of my review here: http://www.confessionsofabookaddict.c...
As the eldest of three sisters, I know you’re not supposed to pick favorites—but The Southern Side of Paradise is Kristy Woodson Harvey’s very best. The heartwarming finale to the Peachtree Buff series, this novel had me laughing, crying, and wanting to hop on a plane and head south. I loved every page.
I will not rate this book because I don't think it's fair to rate a book you don't finish. With that said, it's not so much that I didn't finish but that I just couldn't continue reading... First, let me say that I've read all of KWH's books. I have enjoyed them, but this one was sincerely over the top with the unrealistic "I'm just a simple southern gal whose life is just peachy!" All of the situations are unrealistic and unrelatable. I had to stop reading when the oldest daughter, Caroline, opens a store on 5th Avenue in New York city as an extension of her mother's humble store in Peachtree Bluff, GA. During the grand opening (which the entire clan is driven to from the Plaza in a limousine) the Veuve Cliquot is free flowing and the cash registers are ringing with purchases a plenty.... Okay, first of all, rent on Fifth Avenue in NYC is not cheap and they are not going to cater to some rinky-dink operation (maybe they found a storefront in the low-rent part of 5th Ave -- oh wait, there is no such thing!) Second, am I to realistically believe that this grand opening surprise was all funded by a remorseful husband who just wants to do anything for his spoiled wife after he publicly cheats on her with a celebrity? Not likely. This read more like the lives of the sweet Georgia peach Barbies. This is not Southern chick lit but rather a boring series of unrealistic situations in the lives of four privileged women. Where is the character development? Or, the interesting plot line? Some diversity would have been nice for God's sake! Too artificial for me. I grew up in the South but most definitely not in Peachtree Bluff, so maybe that's why I just couldn't relate or much less get into this book. Moving on to something with a little more substance...
I quickly fell in love with Peachtree Bluff and you fans of Gilmore Girls will appreciate it when I say that Peachtree Bluff reminded me a bit of Stars Hollow, especially the town meeting. The fact that there was a vote to allow residents to order goats to mow their lawns made me smile! I became immersed in the Murphy girls lives and problems. Emerson, a famous movie actress is getting married while Kyle , the owner of a coffee shop that delivers and is very profitable, seems very interested in Emerson's life...
Ansley is keeping a secret that may affect all of her daughters and Jack seems to be hiding something as well.
This story was really a beautiful tale of love, forgiveness and new beginnings. The three sisters could not be more different but their scenes together in this book made me laugh out loud!
Let me say at the outset that this is not the book series for you if body image, diet culture, and the like are sensitive topics-this author’s portrayal of those issues is very problematic. She tosses in dialogue about eating and exercise and size and weight even though it adds nothing to the story. That alone made me consider DNF-ing the books. Otherwise, the story is fine. It’s part #3 in a storyline about a mother and her 3 daughters-typical southern beachy fiction. Not my favorite example of that sub-genre.
Kristy Woodson Harvey has done it again! Perfectly tying together the stories of Ansley, Caroline, Sloane, and Emerson (and their men!), The Southern Side of Paradise is full of humor, charm, and family. Fans of the Peachtree Bluff series will not be disappointed!
I discovered Kristy Woodson Harvey by chance…..or maybe she discovered me by chance—and I am so glad that we connected. When she approached me to review one of her books a three years ago, I was skeptical but yet oddly intrigued.
At that time I was just getting into women’s fiction and hadn’t really read a lot of ‘beach reads’ thinking that maybe it wasn’t my genre—at least not yet. But then here came this sweet blonde southern belle who wanted me to read one of her books and I was like well, why not?
What I discovered in the pages of the first book I read by her, Lies and Other Acts of Love, was so beautiful and well written that I knew I had found a new favorite author! Since then I have read all of her books except one, her first—Dear Carolina.
Her Peachtree Bluff series is probably her most well known and loved, and this book is the last installment, but hopefully not the last book that she writes!
OK so I have to just get this out right away. This cover makes me so happy. Every time I see it, it looks like summer but it also reminds me of a big bright pink donut and I’m instantly hungry. I love this cover so much and it’s my favorite cover in the series!
Now that that’s settled, the book itself came in strong! I took this book out on my back porch in a warm spring day and relaxing in the sun enjoying every minute of it. I could easily have read it in one sitting, but with a toddler sometimes thats a challenge! While Slightly South of Simple will always be my favorite in the series, this book came in as a solid second. In my opinion each book in this series can stand alone, but I also think reading it from the beginning would be so much more satisfying but, feel free to pick up wherever, but once you discover the series you won’t want it to end!
With Mother’s Day just around the corner this mother/daughter storyline would be a perfect gift for the mom in your life! I loved watching how the dynamic between Ansley and her daughter Emerson grew and evolved–not to mention Ansley’s other 2 daughters. Some of the major themes in this book are forgiveness and honesty and I loved seeing that play out in Ansley’s relationships with her daughters. With this book being Emerson’s story I was so sad that this meant the end of the Peachtree Bluff girls but so happy to be reading more about Emerson.
The women in this book are so real, strong, honest, and relatable. While I might not be in the same boat as Ansley or her daughters, I can relate to all her struggles and fears. She nailed the complexity of the relationships for sure! I especially loved how none of the choices that the characters faced were ‘easily solved’. It made the story and characters feel so much more authentic and real.
Woodson Harvey’s love for the South has so evident in page of her writing. Peachtree Bluff might be a fictional town but I can see it so vividly. Her prose is elegant and refreshing as a cool summer breeze and I adore seeing her characters, charming town, and novel themes come to life under her care.
Many have hailed her as a rising star, not just in Southern lit, but in women’s fiction all together and I wholeheartedly agree! I can’t wait to see what book she cooks up next, but more importantly, I hope we actually get to meet in person one day. I hope her book tours eventually bring her to Portland because I would gladly make the drive to meet her! And one of these days I hope to read Dear Caroline so I can finally officially say I have read all her books!
And finally to Kristy, thank you so much for including me in your acknowledgments, it’s truly a blessing to read well written novels like yours!
If you haven’t read the Peachtree Bluff series, stop what you are doing right now and go read it! And if you need a last minute gift for your mom for Mothers Day, this is it right here!
Linda's Book Obsession Reviews "The Southern Side of Paradise" by Kristy Woodson Harvey, Simon and Schuster, May 7, 2019
WOW! I loved everything in "The Southern Side of Paradise " by Kristy Woodson Harvey. I especially love the colorful cast of characters and vivid description of the landscape, written by Kristy Woodson Harvey. This is a novel that is entertaining, intense, captivating, romantic, enthralling, heartwarming and emotional. The Genres for this Novel are Domestic Fiction, Southern Fiction, Women's Fiction and Fiction with a dash of Romance and Suspense. The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, and confused, each having their own set of problems. This is the third and last book of the Peachtree Bluff Series, and is enhanced by reading the first two books, but can be a stand alone.
This is a continuing story of family, friends, secrets, and surprises. Not all surprises tend to be good surprises. This is a story of sisterhood, mothers and daughters, and love, emotional support, and hope. The landscape of the sand and water adds flavor to the story.
Ansley Murphy and her three daughters, and family have conquered many problems together. Yet Ansley has a feeling that something major is going to happen. Her daughter Emerson has major decisions to make that will impact on her livelihood or her romance. Deep family secrets unravel, and things might never be the same.
I love the way the author discusses forgiveness, second chances, and honesty. I loved the Murphy family, and I do admit having to use some Kleenex. I hope that Kristy Woodson Harvey will bring the characters back for more adventures. Pretty, please!!!!!!
I would highly recommend this delightful, thought-provoking novel! Happy Reading!!
I fell in love with Peachtree Bluff in Harvey’s Slightly South of Simple. I found the Series when the 2nd book, The Secret to Southern Charm came out. I had just got back into reading and the cover drew me in. I am a sucker for books on the low country and what looks to be a beach read. I saw it was the second in a series therefore my adventures began in Caroline’s world and continued to book 2 with Sloane’s story.
I could not wait to get my hands on the 3rd and final installment in the Peachtree Bluff series. I had the pleasure of obtaining an egalley in exchange for an honest review. Kristy Woodson Harvey does not disappoint in The Southern Side of Paradise. She shows the inner struggles of woman and how they can overcome almost anything. Each book takes on the story of one of the Murphy sisters and their mother Ansley. Though their worlds may seem perfect on the outside they are anything but that. The Southern Side of Paradise is youngest daughter Emerson’s story. Are the glitz and glamour of her Hollywood life too much for her? Are there skeletons in her closet? Emerson has secrets of her own and she is afraid for them to come out. Could secrets from the past coming crashing down and ruin everything for the Murphy women? You will have to read on and find out. At times I found Emerson to be a little whiney like a teenager but that did not take away from the story.
I am happy with the ending that Harvey chose for the Murphy women. I am sad to see them go but I look forward to the next world that Harvey will create. I give The Southern Side of Paradise a solid 4.5⭐️’s! My recommendation is read on!
