What a creative way to give kids a chance to dream about endless possibilities, but also showing them the challenges money can bring. Derek's parents were patient and kind, and I loved that Derek and his dad build the skatepark together. Overall, the book was enjoyable. It was a tad slow in parts, and I seemed to enjoy it more than my son. I'm interested in reading another book from this series.

A good book for a series book, good use of vocabulary and an interesting storyline. A few pages in, I noticed all the white space and thought how nice it would be for a struggling reader. Turn the page and discover the main character struggles with reading and school in general.

This isn’t just a book about someone winning the lottery. This shows money management, the importance of communication within a family, and the all around growth of each character. Another well loved book by my son who did start reading these out of order by mistake.

Great Book! It hooks you from the cover! While it is a high AR level 5.6 all difficult vocabulary is paired with a cartoon picture that perfectly describes it. Great read for upper elementary and middle school boys and girls alike.

In the tenth book of the series, Derek helps Matt’s brother Jamie as payment he gives him a lottery ticket. Yes, the lottery ticket hits and Derek finds out what it’s like to deal with wealth and power, and people liking you for what you can do for them.

Derek has incredible luck when his friend’s brother gives him a lottery ticket in lieu of the $40 he owes him. I enjoyed this book but the chance of this happening is zillion to one, so it didn’t feel realistic.

Ah yes. The last one in the series. Another really great one, Although it is kind of short. Shorter than the rest. But still top 3 or 4. 9/10

I like how the parents are so surprised that their son won the lottery .I also like how he thinks that he is a grown up just because he signed his signature on the scanner.
