I was expecting it to be more texts by Bernard than a secondary source by Leclerq, but it was still very good. It makes me think (1) about how to transform misogynist commonplaces of my own day into feminist and pro-women commonplaces and (2) how to incorporate more honoring of Mary into my religious experience.

A tremendous, dazzling book. Leclercq gracefully shows Saint Bernard's affection for women, proclivity toward puns (as many as Bernard could fit in a letter), and profoundly clear insights.
