Eighteen years have passed and Mock and Grinda’s love has defied the odds. Their daughter Zin is now a grown woman. Born between two worlds—half Toth, half Quarthi—she finds herself isolated from the rest of the clan. What's more, she is surrounded by power and darkness—once firmly contained, now awakening. Not even the shamri, with all their magical might, can predict her future.
Lord Aaron is fourth in line to the throne. Ordered by his uncle to rid Toth of the last of the Quarthi, he draws together a force that will surely annihilate them. But he discovers Zin—startling and unexpected—and something begins to change in his heart.
Then there's the Darkness. The Morgrar. Insidiously creeping into their world. Only united can the Toths and the Quarthi hope to defeat it. Will they join forces before it's too late?
I live a small, happy life with my partner and cuddly dogs. In between my writing and reading, I like to travel, paint, daydream, play the piano and work as little as possible..
This was another addictive and mesmerising read. Having loved Mock and Grinda’s story I couldn’t wait to start Zin’s.
The Quarthi are being forced back into the caves as the paleskins push forward. Destroying everything in their path. The Quarthi warriors head to battle to buy time for their families to reach the caves. Zin follows her life forever changed.
This book did not disappoint. I couldn’t put it down and so it’s straight onto the next one for me now.
Book 1 did kind of drag a little, for many chapters, but book 2 SOARED into a top spot in my favorite books of all time, so I’m glad I slogged through the boring parts of book 1 to get here!!! IMO book 1 is more of a romance novel, while book 2 shifts gears into …. I don’t know….A dramatic epic? Something much grander and deeper than boring romance.
Excellent character development, excellent plot, well built suspense and tension…. Not ashamed to say I cried many times while reading, and can’t wait to see where book 3 takes us
Mock and Grinda and four more babies is fantastic. I liked getting to know Zin as an 18yo embarking on a pretty painful journey with Aaron. Their story was somewhat similar to Grinda and Mock in its development, but different enough. Their story is sad, but possibly hopeful at the end. The supernatural gets real crazy in this book, and I found myself not quite confused, but feeling a little bereft due to it. It’s still a good story.
This is the kind of romance that leaves me speechless and really unhappy because I do not like being left angsting for the next part of the story! I am loving Aaron and Zin's storyline, so different, so powerful and so emotional! I am truly looking forward to their happy ever after, because they deserve it!!!!
This series is so amazing. Beautiful story full of family, fear, love, culture clashes, and hope. Readers will literally be transported to mysterious worlds.. Have not purchased a book in a long time and this one was well worth the purchase, thank you!!
