In writing collaborations, I sometimes worry that the writing could be negatively affected by the varying writing style of each author. That was not the case in this instance however. As I was reading this tale of horror it became apparent to me that this writing style was somewhat familiar to me. I’ve read tons of pieces by Kevin J. Kennedy so I’m aware of his skill and masterfully creative wordplay. There was something else there however that felt familiar to me...then it occurred to me that I’ve read short stories by Steven Stacy before as well in one or more of the wonderful anthologies that Kevin has produced.

Visual, intense, gripping, erotic and visceral . . . this tale will grab you by the throat on page one and not release you until the final page. The seamless storytelling made it almost impossible to differentiate between the two authors' contributions to the story. I found myself chuckling to myself from time to time as there were some great one-liners thrown in at times you really should not be chuckling. Dark humor and horror are such a delicious combination when done right . . . and make no mistake, it was done to perfection in this case. I would also like to give a shout-out to Michael Bray for that wonderfully gruesome cover.

I devoured Stitches in one ravenous sitting. Stitches is a decadent and guilty ride that provides all the 90s thriller homage it promises.

Stitches follows model Olivia as she goes on a shoot with fellow models Raquel and Francine. The shoot unravels when Olivia begins having visions of Raquel's death. Then her visions come true when deranged killer Stitches comes to skin the models and make them into his own fashion.

Stitches is fast-paced and engrossing. Olivia's character begins sympathetic and endearing before evolving in complexity and intrigue. Stitches is unnerving and horrifying in terrifyingly graphic violence. By the end, I was rapt and wanted more.

I devoured this nineties style horror/ mystery thriller in one tense & gripping sitting.
From the very first page to the last it had me completely hooked & reeled in.
A heady contrasted mix of models, glamour, fashion & beauty through to a gruesome, sadistic, mutilating serial killer spurned on through sheer sexual lust & deception.
The author set the scene well leaving me at ease to visualise the dated neo-noir setting.
The characterisation was detailed with precision especially “ Stitches”.
Some great twists & turns in the tale right through to the finale.
I kept thinking about this book long after I had put it down.
A highly addictive gory novella I’d urge fans of this chilling genre to read.

Having read and enjoyed several works by Kevin J. Kennedy before, I was eager to get to Stitches, a novella co-written by Steven Stacy. After several false starts, I finally finished it, and this was just not a book for me.

Labelled as a 90s styled neo-noir thriller, this book follows supermodel Olivia as she’s pursued and tormented by a madman known as “Stitches.” The story had some interesting twists and turns, and I can’t say it was poorly written, but it didn’t grab me as a reader, so I decided not to post a rating.

In many ways the novella felt more to me like a 70s grindhouse/exploitation movie rather than neo-noir, which isn’t a slam, but an observation. I happen to enjoy the exploitation genre in films however they don’t translate well to the page. If Stitches was made into a movie instead of a book, I’d definitely watch it and enjoy it.

Stitches is a fast-paced and intense horror thriller from Steven Stacy and Kevin J Kennedy. I read this novella in one sitting. Once you start it, you can’t just stop. It is compelling, sexy, gruesome, and disturbing.
Back in my modeling days—don’t ask—I had a fear of stalkers, and it was a stalker that ultimately made me walk away from modeling. This story hit home for me. And I know what you might be thinking: two men writing about three female models, it has to be stereotyped at best. Surprisingly, no, it is not. The characters are well presented and three dimensional, and the story flows really well.
Don’t let the simplified synopsis fool you. This story has substance. I can only imagine writing a synopsis blurb without spoilers is difficult for this story.
I enjoyed this story. If you like horror thrillers, I think you would too.

*Stitches* was such a good read, I literally couldn't put it down. I read it on one Sunday, turning the pages like crazy! It was so exciting and I loved the writing style of the two authors. It was brilliant because you couldn't tell when the authors voice switched, their voices merged perfectly. I
I also really loved the characters because they were fleshed out perfectly! Olivia was a brilliant character and I never would've dreamt she was written by men. She was a typical Hitchcokian blonde. The neo-nor aspect was great and a lot of fun. It completely took me back to those really great thrillers like *Basic Instinct and *Vertigo. And I feel that Olivia was based on these type of Sharon Stone/Kim Novak character's and she was so much fun to read.

I love Kevin J Kennedy books because they're usually very good and they introduce you to new authors. I trust KJK's books and they're a fantastic way to meet new authors via him. It was great to hear Steven Stacy's voice coming through as very distinct and he brought a more androgynous/female voice, which is fantastic in a book surrounding female characters.
I loved the juxtaposition between beauty and ugliness, and how this can mean so nan things; such as internal beauty as opposed to external beauty and what society values.
I also loved the different locations and some really pretty prose in comparisn to the horror that was happening. There were scenes which really grossed me out and terrified me, but we're beautifully written. It's a superb piece of thriller/action which felt really cinematic.

The Villain is so original and genuinely frightening. I wonder how these boys dream this stuff up haha! "Stitches" is genuinely terrifying. I was so scared in the scene where we first meet him, and he's terrifying all the way through. I was pleased with the way they handled the fact that Stitches wasn't Trans, he was just a psychopath, because, I could imagine ppl drawing the wrong conclusion; even though it's made clear.

OVER ALL A SUPERB BOOK WHICH TERRIFIED ME!!! 😉 There are some scenes (like a love scene that got the tone right and was integral to the plot. Sex scenes don't offend me and I loved how it was written.) I wasn't fond of how brutal the scenes could get in places and where were the men guys??? but I love horror and I'm a horror gal! It was a bit like *Clive Barker* mixed with *Ursula Vernon*. This was a superbly crafted and written piece of horror fiction.

I would love to see a sequel to this book - it's just begging for a sequel after the conclusion!!!! 💙 I loved the idea of it being set in Europe and all the high fashion. It was just such a fun read because it was all action, great settings, and fantastic character's that stay with you. I highly recommend it to fans of horror and for ppl who are against *fur in fashion* there's a great sub plot to the novella surrounding it (which I loved personally)
A really fun, scary, twisty, girly, erotic book. I just wish it had been longer, because I couldn't put it down!
Go buy it, it's really frightening and well written, plus it has fashion and Paris 💋 what more can a horror gal ask for?

The Horror of ‘beauty’

With skilfully written, hugely unlikeable narcissistic characters at the centre of this neo-noir-thriller-horror - this story is a wicked tale of hypocrisy, vanity and the ugliness behind beautiful faces.
Then there is of course the namesake, Stitches - obsessive and crazed, the ride is wickedly wild with great high impact scenes that are utterly grotesque.

Pretty good read

Action packed and bloody, good for fans of Ed Gein style serial killers. A couple of housekeeping problems that probably only a woman would notice, but overall an entertaining read.

Stitches: A Neo-Noir Thriller by Kevin J. Kennedy and Steven Stacy is a dark and brutal tale about a group of models who attract the wrong type of attention…

Full Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way.

This book was a little outside of my comfort zone, but since it was Kevin J. Kennedy, I wanted to give it a go anyway! There was one sex scene that I skipped through as it’s just not my jam. But the rest… I couldn’t look away!

I loved that the novella began with us seeing the models being chosen by the photographer, and then it jumped to them traveling to one of their shoots. Right from the second that the girls asked for directions from someone that made them all a bit nervous, I knew we were in for a trip!

The story just got darker and darker as it went on. There were two scenes that had me reading so fast to see what was going to happen, that after I finished my first pass of the scene, I went back and re-read it to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

This one had me cringing. The action was so addictive and intense, but there’s just something about body horror like this that totally gets under my skin.

My Final Thoughts
I had so much fun reading this. This tale was action packed and it was incredibly scary! It’s definitely one that you should pick up when you have an hour or so to just cruise through it. You won’t be able to put it down!

Are you a fan of horror with a splash of erotica? If so, go snag this one right away!

Really enjoyed this psychologically deep thriller in which the only difference between the villain and the main character is that the villain skins people. Both are deeply psychologically damaged but deal with it in different ways. The villains reward is acting out his psychopathy and the main characters is vanity and fame. They were both psychopaths, the only difference between Olivia and stitches is they use different methods to attain the same goal. I loved the way that in the end they were both physically and psychologically damaged. I would love to see a sequel as the ending left me wanting for more from these characters.

What can I say about the novella Stitches. I never have been a fan of wearing animal fur and I think that won't be changing any time soon. A fast-paced, well written and engaging novella that delves into human nature and begs the question is beauty only skin deep. I greatly enjoyed this and hope everyone else does too!

Awesome working with Kevin Kennedy. We had so much fun with this story. This was a short story that just developed into something much larger. The heroine was so much fun to write, Olivia, was just a blast. I really wanted her to feel like the women in a Hitchcock movie, blonde, strong, and fascinating.
The stalker, Stitches, was more problematic and he developed into the monster that he's become. He's like Van Gogh on speed because he'll self mutilate to show his love and then that spyrals out of all control.
I hope ppl love this story and it keeps them up all night with the fear that stitches is out there!!! #thriller #horror #strongfemale #hitchcockian #noir

Three friends

Sure was fooled from beginning to end . sure would not like to have a friend that hated anyone that was pretty. The two friends sure paid the price of friendship. Would love to have a part twin to this book.

I feel like I should warn readers. I had a book hangover for a week after reading this book. I fell into it hard and fast. Once I started, I couldn't stop reading. And for at least a week after, I kept thinking about all the different aspects and the "what-ifs".

I didn't love the characters, which made everything that happened that much easier to be ok with so to speak. And when I say I didn't love them, I mean their personalities we kind of awful. They seemed like shallow people and the kind of person I want nothing to do with. I don't mean they were written badly. They were written exactly who they were, so it was hard for me to feel sorry for any of them.

I've not read anything by Steven Stacy before, but I've read a lot of Kevin J. Kennedy's stuff. Stitches ranks right up there at the top of my list of not only favorite Kennedy stories but of stories in general. They did a great job with it and I look forward to reading more work by Steven.

I’ve been in a bit of a book slump lately. Very little has been holding my interest for long. I loved how it wasn’t full of filler scenes “setting the mood”, etc. So often I find myself bored and skimming that kind of stuff. They did a great job of getting right to the point and staying there.

Good thriller. Enjoyable read though very short.

Enjoyed the book but it vas very short and was reminiscent of a condensed version. Definitely would have preferred that the characters were fleshed out more.
