Long Walk Up is the gripping tale of a young girl's journey from poverty and despair en route to her remarkable and triumphant destiny as Africa's first woman president. The poignant story examines the life of a young East African orphan girl pushed into the street alone after her mother dies. The little girl named Mulukan is only six years old when she is left to her own defenses. This emotional story takes an honest look at unforeseen events, striking coincidences that become the threads in the fabric of a child's life. Dream 4 More Radio was to interview this author but was canceled on author's request. However, we still proceeded with the reading of the material. I had to read the beginning three times to engage in the storyline and wasn't sure if it was a memoir or a fictional story based on real events. Overall, I like the efforts taken by the author to share a story and was best when she was a girl versus a woman, but never gave up no matter what happened to her as a child by losing all her family members to illness or eaten by the beasts of the wild.

Adrienna Turner received the book from author for a potential radio interview that was canceled by author.
