Bay Winchester is at a crossroads in her life. Her powers are growing, her personal life is settled, and there’s a young witch in crisis under her care.
Things are… difficult.
A good witch at heart, Bay knows that the teenager she’s trying to tame is dangerous. To keep Hemlock Cove safe, she’s isolated her at the campground property she owns with her boyfriend Landon. While visiting one day, a ghost catches her attention across the lake… and when Bay crosses to investigate, she finds a fresh body and a whole lot of trouble. It seems the new property owner is currently dating the victim’s ex-boyfriend and there’s a convoluted mess to untangle. That’s on top of the other people in town – including Aunt Tillie’s nemesis Mrs. Little – who keep showing up at the lake with an agenda.
Bay has no idea what to do. She needs to keep her teenage protégé hidden while uncovering a deadly story of an affair gone wrong and greed run amok. All the while she wonders what will happen if she can’t turn things around for her new teenage responsibility. What will she have to do to protect the people that she loves?
If that wasn’t enough, Landon is acting out of sorts. His demeanor is strange and he’s having secret conversations with her mother while trying to keep Bay out of his sock drawer. She can’t figure out why and her imagination is running wild.
It’s going to be a race to the finish. There’s an out-of-control ghost, a teenager who doesn’t want to be helped, and a man who has a plan to give his favorite witch everything she’s ever wanted.
This is the one you’ve been waiting for. The big moment is finally here.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
4.5 Stars... I definitely swooned people; we finally get the moment we have waited for and Amanda Lee went BIG!! It was everything I wanted for Landon and Bay, simply magical, sheer perfection... The overall story was great as well picking up where the last one left off with the unknown factor who is Dani and her penchant for dark magic... Add in a convoluted murder and a bit of a twist in the plot and you have a very entertaining read... Not to mention the guaranteed good time readers have with these beloved albeit crazy (and slightly codependent) characters... Another fabulous addition to the series:)
OMG I AM IN LOVE! ❤❤❤❤❤ Clove is back from her honeymoon and they are onto shenanigans like always. The gang is working on Dani to try to help her and to help her understand that what she did was wrong but, they are not really having too much luck. Then a body is found by the campground, and then sets the hunt for the killer to what happened. To make things more fun the spirit from the girl who was found dead turns into a poltergeist and starts killing people who have wronged her. With a few more twists and turns Bay and Landon along with Aunt Tillie have their hands full! Then an amazing surprise at the end, it was magical! This is a great installment to this series! I absolutely adored this one and can't wait to read the next in the series!
Amanda M. Lee definitely outdid herself with this one. I absolutely love this series. It has become an escape route from reality for me.
Clove has returned from her honeymoon and is back to being a kvetch (this time maybe more than usual because of her FOMO and pregnancy hormones that are all over the place). Aunt Tillie is well Aunt Tillie. She is back with her snark, unique curses and the vendetta against Mrs. Little. But this time Landon is her victim, for a change and Bay couldn't be happier. With a teenage witch with a fondness for dark magic, and the ghost of the murdered girl who has now turned into a poltergeist and is mirdering people who weonged her, Bay has her hands full. She has to find who killed the girl and stop her poltergiest from murdering people AND rein in the teenage witch who does not seem to get any better. Also add in the fact that Landon has been acting strange lately. All this combined made this amazing book. AND THE ENDING!😍😍❤❤ Amanda Lee made this soooo magical. Literally. It was simply so beautiful. I've been waiting for this for a long time now and boy I was not dissappointed at all. It was everything I wanted for Bay and Landon. And Landon! He melted my heart with his real and honest feelings. And how can I forget Aunt Tillie's special finishing touches at the end. (I'm very interested to know how she managed to pull this off. But knowing her, her answer would probably be "I'm the wickedest witch of the midwest. I know all and see all"). I cam go on an on about it. It was simply the best. I can't wait to read the next book
I love this series. Even though I had figured out most of the plot points fairly early on in this book, I still immensely enjoyed reading it. I can never predict what the characters are going to say and how they react, so these books never get old for me. I love the witty repartee! Although, I think I may have missed the book before this one in the series, so I'm going to run back and read that one now!
To Love A Witch begins with Bay having one of the biggest trials they have all faced. Now, she must decide the fate of someone else, along with solve a murder.
The ending was the bomb! I loved it. These two are perfect for each other! I can't wait to read more.
This series was one of the first I read from her and it’s been one of the best ever. The family dynamic combined with the sarcasm and mystery, make for an excellent series that you’ll get hooked on.
I discovered this series a few months back and binge read all 15 books in a week and a half! Yes, it was that good!!! I couldn't wait for May 5th to come around and had even marked my calendar so I wouldn't miss it. All the anticipation that built up waiting for the release was well worth it! I was so happy being reunited with one of my favorite families that I did a little dance. To Love A Witch was everything I had hoped it would be and then some! I am pleasingly content after finishing it and couldn't have asked for a better ending to this addition to the story line. Thank you SO much Amanda M. Lee for this wonderful series and for bringing the Winchester witches into my life!
Omg! I don't want to ruin it for anyone. The big moment mentioned in the description is truly AMAZING!! On to the next book for what I'm sure will be more laughs, tears, and suspense.
Oh wow I’m writing this review backwards because the ending of this one was so worth the wait!!! It was truly beautiful, amazingly heart warming and just plain wonderful.
As for the rest of the story lol I loved it, such a great mystery, awesome funny moments and just a great story that was highly entertaining.
I find visits with Winchesters and Hemlock Cove to be mostly enjoyable adventures; however, I cannot understand why Bay puts up with Landon’s demeaning and emotionally abusive rants. She is not stupid and doesn’t need a man to babysit her and make her decisions for her. She is a brave, strong witch with a good heart. Every time Landon starts ranting at her I skip past his nonsense. This isn’t the 1950s stop with the BS machismo and overbearing man right woman wrong crap. Also, the bacon obsession is so tired. Why is the author not evolving her story? Bay needs to stop capitulating to Landon and stand up for herself.
I absolutely loved it! Amanda M. Lee is fabulous. That was the most beautiful ending she has written and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Please don't stop.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'm so sorry! But my pain level is climbing this year but I could not let this book go with out telling Miss Lee wow great her skill is and how there are readers like myself who wait for another chance to back Hemlock Clove! I will really try not slip again. LOL. This 16 th book of the cousins, the mothers, Chief, boyfriends and husbands become family. I caught myself as I was reading, I noticed each had their own voice, I can see each as they come back with their retorts. Aunt Tully is an Aunt many of us would love to have. Miss Lee, your talent has made this family come to life from 1st meeting to watching and waiting for next book to see what adventure their caught up in. I read many books every day and LOVE many great writers and go one trips that this disease won't let me. You are one who has given me that pleasure. If read all Hemlock Clove books and as I'm sure others have come to be able in minds she to picture them, know just how each one will react, How each sounds. Can't wait to hear the comeback then just know SOMEONE is going to top of her list. LOL. What spell she will cast the humor, and the LOVE this family has for each other right beside what spell will come. Haha growth as her talents come forth. Each cousin has their own unique ability, personality, I laugh, cry and waited for this book knowing it has come. You created just the special way that these characters deserved. It almost seems like a good bye. I for one truly hope this family you have created continue on with Cloves baby. A wedding. The proposal hopefully. I don't write a review each book but no matter the pain Just had let you know these people have become as family. Quirky, Funny Family Friends you can't wait see what's coming next. Thank you for the great town with all sillyness, never know who's ghost does what. Battles Aunt Tully has with,...well, lots people. She hears all, knows all! As she points out endlessly. Knowing the mothers are kitchen witches but are finding them fulfilling their own dreams. Whoever not sure about these characters. Miss Amanda M.Lee keeps the story clean but still has extremely funny ways around this topic. Well, she has help! Her talent plus when an Author creates people as Hemlock Clove has. They become alive and I'm sure they put their own points in the mix. Some of them would demand to be heard and seen. My hopes for many more adventures of Hemlock Clove. Your fan.
One of the best witchy cozy mystery series out there.
This is one of the best and one of my favorite which is cozy mystery series that is out there. The perfect combination of characters and storylines that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. The Winchester family is a group of which is living northern southern Michigan in a small town that is tourist based on the fact that is a witchy town. The townsfolk pretend to be which is unbeknownst to many of them there are true which is pretending to be humans pretending to be witches. The Winchester family is One such family which is. They own a local Bed and breakfast. There is a great aunt Tillie who is the matriarch of this family. Her three nieces are the ones that built and run the end. Each of them have a daughter bay and thistle and clove are the youngest daughters of this clan of witches. Bay Winchester is typically the focus point in the story. On occasion the other family members are the focus point. Follow along as Bae and her FBI boyfriend Landon and the police chief Terry and the rest of the characters StumbleUpon murders mysteries and other magical Mayham. They seek out and find who is responsible and fort them from continuing. A snarky and fun and at times action packed Adventure. Check it out you will not be disappointed
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series it's wickedly funny, wonderfully enjoyable, and a laugh a minute. I started the series in 2019, and I really want the next book published because I'm now caught up, and unfortunately it's not. However, it will be on November 3. So I'll be getting it. If you haven't given the series a try, you really need to pick it up. I think you will find it absolutely hysterical. A similar series I would recommend Is the Tess Lake Torrent witch series. I found both to have superbly executed snarky character interactions. I just couldn't wait to see what aunt Tillly or aunt Cass were gonna do next. At first, the similarities Between the 2 witch series bothered me. In the end, I was laughing too often to be bothered anymore. Some readers did not enjoy the dialog and some found the mystery to be too easily solved. So, give the 1st book of chance, and if you don't enjoy it don't read the rest of the series. At the time of the writing of this review, the 1st book was available for free on Amazon If you have kindle unlimited. I recommend kindle unlimited if you're looking for new authors because you can try so many books for free. I will look for more Amanda M. Lee books in the future.
Wicked Witches of the Midwest #16 Holy Cow! A lot happens in this book… Bay is trying to help the teenage psychopath from the previous book change her evil ways. The teenage psychopath is not cooperating and on top of that feels she has done nothing wrong. Then… 1 murder… 2 murder… 3 murder… 4. The fourth one wasn't really a murder, it was more like kill or be killed. In and amongst all of that Clove and Sam come back from their honeymoon. Landon is acting weird and seems to be hiding things from Bay. The ending is a doozy! I didn't laugh very much during this book, but I certainly did shed a few tears.
I can't say that I am really liking the darker turn that the books have been taking. I would like to go back to the laugh out loud fun I used to enjoy while listening to these books. This one I even felt like Aunt Tillie was being too mean to Margaret Little. I absolutely despise Margaret Little, so you see my dilemma. I think the problem mainly lies with Bay. Since the stories are all told from her point of view, when she's as angst ridden as she has been since her powers have increased, the laugh out loud fun is muted by her mood.
As Bay, Thistle and Aunt Tillie work with Hazel to turn Dani away from using dark magic Clove returns from her honeymoon flicking Bay and Thistle off balance under her rampaging pregnancy hormones.
Dani isn't responding well to being locked up at the campsite for her safety and doesn't really seem to grasp difference between her killing her father and Aunt Tillie tormenting Mrs Little.. Bay is dreading having to do the same thing to Dani as she did to Diane the aunt who set her on the path to darkness.. she's going to have to find a different way..
Meanwhile Mrs Little is still angry with Bay and Landon for having bought the campsite, what's more she missed out on the only other lakeside property when a stranger, Heather, pipped her to the post. What is her interest in the lake?
When bodies start appearing things get worse. Now Bay is dealing with a recalcitrant teenager, a ghost with issues, looking for a killer, dealing with Aunt Tillie's latest plans for Mrs Little.. and now Landon is acting strange too..
Can Bay fix anything? Her powers are strengthening but will it be enough when she finally finds out what is going on?
I love this series more than any other, I wait patiently for every new book that comes out. I've be also waiting for these two to finally get it together, now it's Thistle's turn and Cloves baby to be born. The only problem I had with this story is the handling of the teenager. First of all the interaction was half wit and she was already a prisoner by being stuck in that camp. Also there was a place the could have sent her in one of your other series and that "the Caravan" series traveling with the carnival, they certainly have the means and patients to deal with the teen and implement t her into their cases were she will feel useful and accomplished. Now after reading g these books for so long I thought Bay would have matured and harden up after so many cases and Landon as a support but it just seem like she back peddled. Her powers are growing so she should be growing with them in stress but and maturity. Just say it could use growth all around side Aunt Tully is their mentor and I fluincer not their parents. The father are fine it's the mother's that concern me be sure they expect something they haven't quite earn.
The Wicked Witches of the Mid West is always snarky. Clove is back from her honeymoon. She's having contests to determine godmother and favorite aunt. Thistle is enjoying picking on Clove and fighting Aunt Tillie. Aunt Tillie is riding her scooter and messing with Mrs Little, like always. Bay with the help of another witch is trying to rehabilitate a teenage witch who has gone to the "dark side". Landon is keeping a secret which is a carry over from Witchin' Around the Clock.
Concerning the plot, I had figured out the bad guy after the first death. It didn't spoil the book though. I also enjoyed how the author brought all the books together in the end.
In most of the author's books she over does the schmaltz between the love interests. In this book the schmaltz was there but it was "well controlled" schmaltz.
For anyone who is a fan of the series, the last chapter makes the whole book.
I usually really enjoy these visits to Hemlock Cove but this one just fell.a little off for me. Firstly Landon is acting suspicious whispering with Bays mum and hiding something in his sick drawer ----- three guesses what that's about------ Bay obsessed over what he's up to but is ultimately oblivious, nobody is that dense. Then we have Dani an obnoxious teenage witch we met in the last book who Bay is trying to rehabilitate resulting in many long argument s over what should be done with her. Then we have the murder a wo.an is found by Bay in the Lake out on the campground Landon bought for their home to be built on. She isn't the only death yet Landon and Chief Terry do not seem to put any effort into finding the killer leaving it to Bay,Tillie and Thistle to resolve the situation. So all in all not one of my favourites.
Bay is always thinking with her head and heart and sometimes she just can’t get past her soft heart to see that some people just aren’t good. With assistance from Thistle, Aunt Tilly, and Landon, Bay tried to save a young girl that she believes can be saved but everyone is telling her that it’s to late but Bay just can’t stop herself from trying. Then across the lake from the camp grounds she sees a ghost and once again they set out to solve a murder and a ghost controlled by someone else. With Mrs. Little sneaking around looking for buried treasure and people on the property dying it’s up to Bay and company to figure it out. Some mystery and some disappointment and some realization of who is good and who is bad comes a long with this adventure as well as a long awaited surprise. Love these story and anxiously await the next installment.
I love this book. Amanda M. Lee always makes the characters come alive in her books. I started reading the Wicked Witches of the Midwest books and then moved on to all of the other books she's written. I love how she incorporates her different storyline into some of the books, but I digress. All of the characters in this series have progressed in life just like real people. I think most of us have an Aunt Tillie, if we're lucky, and hopefully we all have closer family members like Bay, Clove, and Thistle. I've enjoyed reading about Bay and Landon's relationship, and the ending of this book was spot on. In hoping it's not the end of the Winchester books, I look forward to each new adventure!
This is my first review, but I couldn't stop myself from telling you how much I love your books. I've read every one of them. I live your characters, although Aunt Tillie is obviously one of my favorites. My husband listens to me laugh out loud while reading, and shakes his head. Thank you for taking me to another place when I read, and I especially love when you combine characters across books. Thank you. I just wanted you to know! PS, I also love how few grammatical and spelling errors. That isn't always the case and it's appreciated. I didn't catch any in this book!
Wow! Bay is owning her power...and I love it! Landon is fighting his overprotective nature...and I love it. The family is acknowledging Bay's strength, it looks like Thistle is deciding to move beyond "dabbler" status, and Clove is, well, Clove. The murder mystery and the teenager's fate are surprising and almost satisfying; almost because, while torturing Margaret Little has been comic relief to this point, she has now shown herself to be a real threat that needs to be permanently neutralized Aunt Tillie- style. C'mon, hiring someone?! And then, there's the ending... Just WOW!!!
This author and series never disappoints. The books are always well-written with excellent plot development and interesting characters. This book continues the story from the previous book and builds on it to a surprising conclusion. I’m not going to include any spoilers, but I have to say this book affected me emotionally. It’s the first time I’ve ever cried while reading this series. It’s a tribute to Amanda M. Lee and her exceptional storywriting ability that I got so wrapped up in her characters that I became emotional. I highly recommend this series, and it’s best to read the books in order to follow the characters’ development. Then you’ll truly appreciate this book.
Even though the entire book was very predictable. I still had a tremendous amount of joy, fun, and laughter reading this. Landon and Bay are one of my favorite book couples ever! I literally feel their love when I am reading their story. It gives me hope. And I hope to someday be Aunt Tillie! Powers or not, she is an amazing character. I want to be a part of the Winchester family. I want to live in Hemlock Cove. I really want to be Bay Winchester. I can’t wait for more books to come out. Usually by the time I hit book 15 of a series I’m so over it. Not with this series, so far, I never want it to end..
Really enjoyed this one, but that has been the same for all of the books by this author. The hard part is now waiting for the next one. As soon as I finished this I checked to see if she had any other books from her other series come out with something new yet, but I am caught up on all of them. This is a great series by a great writer. Once you get started reading one of her series, you will want to find all of the rest of the series that she has written.
I have read this series from the beginning and I'm always waiting for the next one. In between I read Amanda's other books each book is unique and it own and I feel like I know this workd she has created. I couldnt ask for a better author and I truly hope she keeps it going. I absolutely love the snark and sass and even the shy. Amanda makes such beautiful worlds that anyone would give to live in. So thank you Amanda M Lee you my dear are a magician
I always love reading about the Winchester's and Hemlock Cove. Smart, sassy witches and hilarious family relationships are the backbone of this series and Amanda M Lee delivers this every single time. Bay and Landon really are tragically codependent but they balance and compliment each other. This story got witchy really fast, but it was so well done. Tons of snark, a few ghosts, a pirate's treasure and a gripping mystery add up to a story that you really can't tear yourself away from.
