Its so good to read a (Kill-Bill) 😀 kind of hustle bustle fast paced story with a female lead 😍

Myla insurrection is a story of a one strong brave woman . The one who should be ideal role model of feminism . Yes , I am saying because Myla , one of the few exceptionally well defined female protagonist from an Indian author . Now coming to the book , the cover of the book is on point , the simplicity of it makes highly acceptable as from the cover itself , the person can that the book and author is into serious business . The plot of the book is very well written and streamlined . The book contains just the right amount of description . The situation and scenes are very realistically described . The dialogues have a very smooth flow , it doesn't seem to be forced at any point . The mystery is cultivated at the inception of the book with the muders which readers glued till the end . Overall I think it was great book.

I finished reading this book in one go. You may ask what big deal about this? This is a 316 page book. Considering the size of the paper and the content, it would very well cross 400 pages, if it was printed in a regular size.
By the way, I do not know as to where to start because this book is surreal. I could see the character - the Protagonist - Myla living in front of my eyes. As soon as I finished reading this book, there was just one thought that ran in my mind. This story certainly commands to be made into a movie - preferably in Tamil to start with and the lead role would perfectly fit for either Amala Paul or Andreah Jeremiah.
What is so special about this book?
Firstly, it is the character. We only find a story line, once in a while, that gives prominence/importance to a female lead. Arjun Rao just did that. His protagonist was a female. Having said that, when you complete this book, you would be more than convinced that she did a proper justification to the role.
The writing style was simply splendid. It was captivating. I could vouch this because it held me captive for good 4 hours almost. The story has the element of all that is required to make it interesting. It has a quotient of suspense, thrill, revenge, treachery, crime and what not.
It all begins with a massacre of Myla's entire family.
Who did that?
Why they did what they did?
Though it looked like a dacoity in the beginning, Myla was convinced that this was done not with the intent to rob them but for something else. When she springs into action, the trail leads to a huge network which was span across India.
They had people all over, including the Police department.
Will a single woman be able to take the sheer force/network?
Was she able to face the brutal characters who were behind the assassination of her family members?
Read the story and I am sure you would be convinced thoroughly because there is no exaggeration but at the same time, the character is nothing less than a super woman. Though the story ends with this book, I felt that there is an opportunity to extend it further - a sequel, if the author wishes to do so because as a reader, I seriously wanted one more part to this story which I am sure would be as much appealing and captivating as this book.

Myla: Insurrection written by Arjun Rao is a thriller which will keep you pulsating till the end. I have seen fearlessly ruthless female assassins in many Hollywood movies. But something like this is rare in Indian literature.
We all are familiar with strong, masculine, fearless, well-trained heroes popularized by our movies and books. So why not a female superhero?? This book is an apt answer. I'm sure your thoughts will change after reading this story of a brave woman who can do anything in life.

Oh My Word! What an action filled novel! Malaika Menon , professionally known as Agent Myla , is brought back to her hometown,Calicut, when she received a call which delivers the news of her family being brutally killed . She suspects that her family was used as a bait to lure her and she was the ultimate target. And boy she was so right!
Began the chase, the killings , the suspense , the action - honestly speaking it felt like a movie/web series. I could literally hear the gun shots , the fightings, the agony , the pain. It was like a movie flashing infront of my eyes while I was reading those action filled scenes.
I really loved the way the author has sculpted Myla's character - a fearless , badass Death Squad soldier, nah warrior.
Myla is independent and has the guts to do right to the right and definitely right to the wrong too! She knows very well how to deliver justice. She is quick but she always has a plan. She is organised and very good with weapons.
To be honest, I have very limited knowledge about weapons but the simple language used by the author helped me to broaden my horizons and I know a lot more now!
Trigger Warning : This book has a lot of violent incidents, gun firings , drugs, and everything that happens in tbe underworld , so read at your own discretion.
I really loved this book and am looking forward to read more action filled novels by the author in tbe future. This was first time I read something like this and oh boy I am in awe. The title is justified and the cover is also so beautiful It's the ending that has made my heart feel heavier.
Overall it was a great read .
If you are looking for an action thriller with a badass female protagonist then this is the book for you, read it ! If not then also read it.

Malaika aka agent Myla trained in NDA , out of Calicut for 10-12 years had to visit her home as her home was burnt to ashes , parents heads , limbs slashed off , raped , children crushed to death. Gruesome crime but for what ? Only few knew her whereabouts and fewer knew her real name . Very smart , she has been trained jujitsu and multiple combat skills , she is an expert in investigation and using firearms . She is beautiful , intelligent , very smart , highly skilled , fast in action , but what secret she is hiding in the veil of her icy toned conduct and extremely controlled emotions and professional frontier ? Each person she meets somehow meets hellish death. A huge ugly giant criminal who tries to crush her to death in the hotel and her tickling and fighting skill starts this story of presentation of intelligence, physical strength, mental stability, invincible willpower and ability to think at the right time. Each character feels like a suspect , who is kichu ? Who are trying to pin her down and why ? Descriptive , not dragging and step by step formed twists. Action filled plot, sadistic criminals , mystery that unfolds the suspense slowly in each chapter ,crime thriller that makes imagination of the dark goosebumps rising events smooth along with strong , bold , fearless female protagonist ,gripping narration and an unexpected ending , everything is there in this story that will keep you at the edge.We only imagine such heroes to be tall ,dark and handsome male, like in action movies but now Myla shows women can do it too. I watched Mardaani , Article 15 this month so yeah I like the thrills and in the mood and the need to stand for the right .

This is a racy, scintillating 'can't put it down' kind of read. It narrates the journey of a strong, honest tough young woman (Myla) that faces the wrath of the underworld and sets out to seek justice for the same. In doing so, she single handedly takes on a war against the mighty web of evil comprising narcotics dons, prostitution rings and corrupt police officials. She partakes in this mighty battle relying primarily on her skills & training from her intelligence services training. What ensues is a massive blood bath across cities with confusion and fear - does Agent Myla manage to survive the power of the massive terror network or is another helpless victim that tries but does not succeed. Read on to know more...I finished this within a day as I could not put it aside...I hope there is a sequel super soon.

In her teen life she joined army and worked on high profile cases. When Myla returns home her eyes receive a stunning shock of personal loss and all over bloodshed. Suddenly her life brings hard-hitting twist and turns which leave her heart broken, but she didn't let her tears interrupt. Myla made herself strong and fought for her family. What problems was Myla's family going through? Why she joined army at a very young age? Will Myla be able to arrest the culprits? Will justice be served to Myla's family?
A fast paced thriller and mysterious story which will make you curious to reach its depth, seek for the answers and solve the mysteries. Imagining the whole thrill gave a quite cold creeps. I liked the character of bold, fearless and strong Myla. The plot line was superbly interesting. The narration was simple and easy to understand. The cover gave a perfect thrill look and the title matched the concept.
Overall it was an amazing thriller read. I would recommend this book to the readers who would enjoy reading thrill, action and crime.

Myla: Insurrection written by Arjun Rao is a female-centric action packed thriller story which will keep you at the edge of the seat, whole the time. I never came across this kind of protagonist ever in my reading life. I have seen the ruthless fearless female assassins in many Hollywood movies. But in Indian literature, this one rare. Hats off to the author for taking this unique subject.
We all are familiar with strong, masculine, fearless, well trained heroes popularized by our movies and books. So why not a female super hero?? This book is the apt answer. I'm giving my full support to this experimental book.
Myla is a trained army agent. One day she finds that her whole family is murdered. It was a gruesome crime. Without any emotional support left, she slowly losses control over herself. Review:- This was my first thriller book which I had ever come across that made me kept on going and engaging till the end. It had bunches of suspense in it. I was impressed by the protagonist Malaika Menon called as MYLA her character, her energy, her braveness, her skills would make you realise that every woman should have this sort of determination. Though this book is not a true story, but the imagination of the author has made me astonished.
The book is of the story of Agent MYLA. She is such an incredible character in the story. She was a woman who is strong,highly-skilled, courageous, and has been trained into handling as one of the risky missions of the Indian Army so one could visualize her the level of personality and then strength which she is possessing along with skills of investigations.
She comes to her home town because someone had murdered her family and her sisters were brutely assaulted by some gangsters. She blames her own self for such occurrence and going beyond laws and her own restrictions, she glances at the case her own self without thinking of her post and other police matters, she reaps into her own investigation. While doing so, she loses her all near and dear once, which makes her unstoppable to reach till the core.
She ruptures the whole network that has been laid down by one of politicians and officers, she finds out the corruption, all illegal activity, she finds out people who are smugglers and kills everyone from the bad network hookups of people entangled into the chain. She tends to give an eye for an eye. But she once gives a word to anyone she makes sure she keeps upto it.
Through her battle, she does not hurt the innocent ones by keeping her target clear.
Her mind operated in such way that no one could stop her till the end, she did things that normal police commissioners could not do throughout their life, due to internal moles into the police department of the gang managers involved in itself.MYLA's subsequent actions would always keep you in suspense and one could not imagine it actually that how will be she executing.
Many characters are involved in the story. The author has written the book in a straight forward aisle. The story goes intriguing and makes you feel the pain, actions being played right in front of your mind screen. Each and everything was adequately placed and described, the plots placed by the author was just flawless. The imagination and the tale of the author has made the book more absorbing and would carve you to read the next action role stage.

'MYLA: Insurrection' is a story full of war like actions. The book cover is perfect, containing the protagonist Myla's silhouette image, it gives the clear idea that the story has a lot of action and thrill in it.
I have a lot to talk about Myla. Author portrayed her character with his words in a way that one can picture her image in one's mind. She's all beautiful, intelligent, fearless, crazy. When she involved herself in the investigation, it was great to read about her techniques, the way she was discovering things. The book is a large read with 318 pages, but it will definitely not disappoint you for chosing such a long read. The flow of the story keeps the readers bound. As you proceed in the story, you'll be amazed with the series of events happening there, all so unexpected! The book releases facts that how some high profile citizens are involved in all the bad things one can do and still remain clear. And the police or politicians can't do anything about it as they have loopholes within them. Commissioner Mohan, played very important role in story, he beared all his responsibilities with dedication. He helped his niece by letting her do whatever she could do to take her revenge, because the people bound to law can't always do what they really want to do for right things. On the other hand, he was doing whatever lawful when in uniform.
Myla is an inspiration, not only for women but for everyone out there, to fight for what is righteous. Not everyone can be Agent Myla, but everyone can definitely fight for what is right. Myla is a One Woman Army!
Author's language and narration style was no doubt all good. It was his narration which made the scenes realistic. I would love to see this book turning into a web series. Author has done a great job researching details about the weapons and equipments needed for war.
There was a point at some starting pages, where I could not really get how in a burnt home can electric switches still work?
I was so sure about the end is not going to be happy one, but I felt it missed something. Something like there must be a scene when Tariq and Simran saw Imran on Myla's side at the last location. And I didn't understand why the author left it a mystery about who really gave the contract for a dead Myla.
The book will make you cry.
It's a must read book for all thrill/action lovers.

What I read is completely something extra ordinary that made me off grid for a time being and took me somewhere else. It is an adventurous and thriller story of a rebellious Indian Army girl Myla, as covert operations specialist and one of death squad. While She has dedicated her life to serve her job and a call about her family turns everything for her.
Story starts with and travels along with Malaika Menon, a girl from Calicut, code named as Agent Myla, covert operations specialist. Adorned with all the fighting skills from the age of 16 and now as one of the Death Squad. She returns to home after a long but not the way she might ever expected, as her whole family is savagely murdered by unknown. Even heart broken, Myla soon regains her status and just sets on to solve this mystery to indentify the killers and their motive. When she could know truth, she blames herself for her family's fate.
Determined with her ultimate goal to avenge for her family takes her farther beyond all limits to fulfill. Though she is right in her path but she has become a pricking thorn for many as a big price is given for her head.
I loved the portrayal of Myla, not only a fighter she is but a genius also, a silent killer. She is the vanquishers of evil and a warlord playing with bullets. If she would be in reality then, must be a idol for many. Her role is pivotal, arround her, story and all the characters are progressing, though others charachters are of significance too.
This book is perfect combination of super action thriller. It has everything, super captivating plot, a feminine swashbuckling protagonist, rich language and prolific narration, all these leave one visualise all sceneries rather than reading only.
No other word would be justifing as title than her name, as Myla is everything of this book, cover page, title, story and whole focus is dedicated to her. She is an eye candy of whole story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, recommending readers of this genre to give it a read for sure.

Myla: Insurrection by Arjun Rao is an action and thriller based book.
The book begins with the protagonist Myla performing the last rituals of her family who were brutally murdered in what is believed to be a dacoity gone wrong.
Malaika Menon known as agent Myla who is a covert operator part of the forward operating team is affirmative that the death of her family had more to do with her and takes matter in her own hands.It is then revealed that her family was murdered, her mother and sisters were raped and her house was burnt down to diminish all the clues that tracks us down to the culprit.
As the story evolves we get to know more about the underworld and a gang of Govindan connected to the murder of Mylas family. As mentioned in the book the underworld is "dog-eat-dog" world where the strongest rules. After taking down Govindan and his goons a don named Parthasarathy Mudaliar is revealed to be ruling over Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Losing her family and some of her closest people, heartbroken yet furious for justice, Myla is set on a mission to take down Parthasathy and the corrupted underworld on her own.
This book was gripping from beginning to the end. I loved the pace, it wasn't rushed. I also loved how the narrative shifted between the protagonist view and antagonist view which gave us more insight from both the sides. Thorough research is done regarding the arms and ammunitions mentioned.
I really appreciate the author for dusky complexioned female lead. More power to you. Her emotions, her actions, her strong insight, was commendable.
It was without a doubt a great read, the narrative is extremely remarkable. I would highly recommend this one. A five out of five stars read indeed.

Myla decided to take revenge with every single person who was involved in this horrific incident , she wanted justice for herself and for her family members heavenly souls,
Who murdered her family and why ?
If there was someone who had bad terms with her or someone with rivery from her profession then why didn't they killed her also ?

This read was nothing short of a highly coloured , action-packed movie.
When Myla , an Indian Army trained covert operative, learns of the gruesome murder of her entire family, she promises herself to see the end of it. All hell breaks loose, when this "scary female" manages to terrorise even the biggest of dons with her immense skills , strength and smartness.

I honestly can't find enough words to write exactly how inspiring Myla is. Characters like her are an encouragement to all the girls out there, to be unafraid and unapologetic in whatever they do ,as long as they are on the path of honesty.
Especially, with horrendous events happening all around us, so many among them being acts of 'pseudo feminism', this story manages to paint the actual picture of what women empowerment and feminism truly are.
Apart from the already brilliant crime plot, you'll get to see :
Men who support a woman who is better than them without any inferiority complex.☑️
Women who are there for each other without trying bring one another down☑️
Independence. Self-worth. Dignity. ☑️
Each of which is needed in this world.
I had a magnificent time reading this absolute bomb of a book and I recommend this to anyone who loves reading crime fiction!
