A breeze blew. Alfie closed his eyes, and - held on tight. "AL-FIE, AL-FIE, AL-FIE..." All the leaves on the ground shouted together. But Alfie could not jump. And so, Alfie's long winter began.

As a child, this was one of my most favourite picture/children books. The illustration was very creative and amazing, as well as the story. So then, after each year, I would gaze up at my tree in the winter, and would always see one leaf there. Then I would always name the last leaf on my maple tree--Alfie. Because of this book.

FANTASTIC children's book by the One and Only Greg McEvoy. 30 years is TOO LONG a wait – whatever happened to Alfie after he jumped off the branch?? This is a story so alluring that it practically DEMANDS a sequel. MAKE IT HAPPEN GREG!!!

My sister and I race every year to put this book on hold at the library. We have been unable to find our own copy. A great story about fearing change and supporting others, good for any age group even grown ups !
