Often times, we think anointing is given to a select group of Christians who get a special gift from God. We think of it like a touch by a fairy's wand. They have told us that, "God called me." We think that we need a burning bush or a Holy visitation to be anointed. This is not true. There is anointing waiting for each of God's Children who seek him, and are obedient to His words. To be anointed means that we have been set apart for a specific purpose. God has a purpose for each of us; a job in His Kingdom. Only, most of the time, we are the last ones to figure out what it is.
