The Sun and The Boy, is a gentle yet powerful allegory that takes the reader on an unforgettable journey from the mundane imperfections of life, to a beautifully mystical experience of the soul. In this short and simple story, many important topics of the human experience are explored in an imaginative and clear way. Complex issues like love, jealousy, loneliness and betrayal, are all included and discussed in this original and inspiring fable.
I absolutely loved this beautifully written book, makes the reader think and consider many aspects of life. This is done through a boy and his love for the sun, and vice versa, whereby they go on many adventures together, and the boy gets to learn many important lessons through the stories narrated to him by the sun. However the sun could not always be with him, as at sunset it had to leave, and it was then that the boy was discovered by the moon. The moon was ever envious of the sun, especially when he saw the bond these two had with one another, so he started to lie to the boy to make him think that the sun did not really care for him. The moon's jealousy nearly tainted the beautiful love the boy had for the sun, however their bond was too strong to be threatened by jealousy. Had the moon been ready to accept the situation he too could have enjoyed the love of the boy which was endless, and he could have had the night whilst the sun enjoyed the day, but his envy was too great. Their are many lessons to be learnt from this allegorical tale which is so beautifully written. This book was such a pleasure to read, I really did not wish it to end.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. A wonderful and touching story with great teachings. I read it over four nights as a bedtime story to my kids. We all enjoyed it. When I finished it I realized I was smiling.
