Learn How To Start A Business From Nothing. This book is full of real world stories from an entrepreneur who had over 10 business failures, started from nothing, and finally found the successful patterns to become a Millionaire before the age of 30. This book includes research on "who" is most likely to be successful in entrepreneurship across 26 different personality factors. No hype. No BS. No fluff. This is a comprehensive book full of examples to draw from. Start From Zero gives you the repeatable path to create a meaningful and profitable business without being dependent on any person, any platform, or anything. See new research on the top personality traits pulled from 30 successful entrepreneurs. Learn by example from 15 employees who became entrepreneurs. Much of the world believes you have to be smart, gifted, or lucky to make it with your own business. That's only true to a certain extent. You can actually screw up a lot and still get rich... if you get the right things done right. This is the only book that will show you how to successfully start from zero when you have nothing. Not even confidence. Start From Zero is the result of over 10 years of research, based on tested principles, with a methodology that will still be relevant a hundred years from now. If you are frustrated with your income and earning potential, this book is for you. Start From Zero teaches you how to install the 4 brains you need to create income & scalable products from scratch. Whether you are a frustrated employee, a time-strapped business owner, or a curious 16 year old wondering if you should attend college, Start From Zero delivers the goods. My hope is this book helps make entrepreneurship accessible to the entire world. I have personally helped thousands of people become free with this exact process. All of them started from zero. Many of them started as employees. You can be next. Put these principles into practice for 90 days and learn the skills to make success more likely in any endeavor you choose!
Dane does a wonderful job of combining mindset with outcomes in this book. I’ve been a big fan of his pain point philosophy for years and love his prompts. This book could’ve been shorter and more focused. Half of the book was wonderful! The other half was a sales pitch to buy his products which in the past is something I just can’t invest into given some less than honest sales techniques used. I love the positivity that you spread Dane, and how you genuinely love helping people, but much of what you are selling is to an audience who already trusts you like me. Next time you launch a book, please have the resources primed and ready for the release. By the time I finished this book, there was only a landing page saying resources were coming soon. Since the book heavily references the resources, this was less than helpful.
I am throwing out my other start-up books. This is the best!
I just finished reading this book and i am very impressed.
There are two major mind-shifting insights I got from this book:
First: I’ve always WANTED to be an entrepreneur but now I see how my thinking stopped me from BEING one. This book showed me how to tackle that in a caring but direct manner.
Second: I'm a technician. So I always focused on my business ideas and solutions: The 'mechanism' and all the technical details.
This book got me to focus instead in the customers and getting them to explain their problem AND to explain how they want those to be solved. Then its a matter of hiring out the building of the solution to suitable experts. I stay focused on being an OWNER rather than an employee-like builder.
I have listened to Dane Maxwell's podcasts in which he helps new startups to get clarity on this. I was so impressed, I pre-ordered this book. I read the Kindle version in one sitting and it changed my thinking on how to build my business.
The paperback version is now on the way and I will study that and annotate it with enthusiasm. I am for sure putting this into practice right away.
I have read tons of books on this subject by great and famous experts. But the simplicity and clarity of this book just knocks the others off my book-shelves and takes pride of place.
So yes, I am heartily recommending this book to anyone looking to start their own online business. Not just software, but ANY service or product based business as well.
That book is weird. The author uses children language and you really feel he is talking to a 15-year old shy girl that thinks about selling her own nail polish. He does give some interesting ideas though, such as "sell before you make" to raise funds. However, the title is slightly misleading, and it is focused only on SaaS.
It is good, but there is much better. As such, i'd recommend instead The Millionaire Fastlane from MJ DeMarco, or Unscripted from the same author. I was surprised the author did not mention these at the end of his book, but mentionned "rich dad poor dad".
Also, you kinda feel the author is pushing his own services through the book.
And that thing where you have to put your hand on your heart and say "my heart that i love" is gay AF, wtf dude. So, if you end up reading the book, skip the first half, it is only self-help bs.
Dane obviously has a smart approach to entrepreneurship, and he's helped a lot of people start successful businesses, but if you've listened to him on [insert popular business podcast here] then you've already heard 90% of what's in this book. It all felt a bit shallow, as did the simplistic writing style. (C'mon, I'm not a child, I can handle a long sentence every now and then, try me!)
Also, the last 30% or so is pure filler: a bunch of forgettable case studies of successful business founders that doesn't add much value and screams that the author was trying to fill space.

The book has some good info , but nothing exceptional, it carry good ideas about how to find business idea, etc. However the reason I am giving two starts is that the writer use this book to advertise for his other business which is giving courses to people who want to learn how to become business owners especially in SaaS field. Beside his direct advertising for his courses, he talk about a lot of materials located on his startfromzero.com/yes , but when visited this place , there was nothing of what I was hearing in the book such as the 7 sales templates , etc. Last quarter of the book is all case studies of people transferred from employees to business owners and some of them to multi millionaire, without much details about how the transfer happens all what we know that his courses and materials have changed the mindset of these people, and started their SaaS companies, so again indirect advertising to his courses. Dane Maxwell, I really was expecting more authentic book from you, but seem you use this book as a step to upsell your courses, which leave me to wonder if the writer wrote everything in this book or he left some secrets to his courses .
Odd book. The first half of the book was about working out your own beliefs (which I think is still important), but it was delivered in a very weird way. The other half of the book was pretty interesting and quite useful, such as "The Four Brains" and "7 Skills".
If you are thinking of starting a SAAS (Software As A Service) platform business, this is the book to read. Although ideas like 'Idea Extraction' can be used for other styles of business, the specifics in the book are well tried and tested in the SAAS space.
I thought this had a lot of insightful analysis of sustainable business approaches. Self-help for would-be-entrepreneurs? Yes, but in a really good way.
Just an overall amazing read, I was excited to read every chapter. The website is a bit confusing, but I don't want to ding that against the book, it was still worth my time.
Some chapters are unbearably cringe and others are deeply insightful and motivating. I believe he shows his flaws intentionally as if to say "if I can do it, anyone can."
Bedtime stories, no one fails, some websites do not exist anymore to see how the story is real, etc. A bit of reality would be useful, like in Alberto Savoia's The Right It.
Lots of good ideas, especially for online businesses. I read this in fits and starts; began when the idea for our retirement business first formed, and finished when we had acquired the property and moved to be positioned to start that business. A mindset more than an application for me, but encouraging to see other people work toward and achieve their dreams!
