"We can only hide for so long, sister, before we either become nothing, or choose to rejoin the living."
Mika Marshall is back at the University of Morgana. It is her first fall semester, her first Homecoming and Samhain on Morgana’s Island. So much is the same her first day and yet...so much is different.
She is no longer the girl who couldn’t do basic magic, but she’s losing control - she’s finding it difficult to rejoin the living after what she had to do to win the challenge. Claire refused to yield and Mika had to take her life to stay alive.
Now she has to figure out how to live again, as Matriarch of nothing. She has to find a way to free the Morrigan and find her place in the world. Mika can no longer ignore what she is, or what she can do.
Mika's situation is getting real. She's facing impending doom in this novel as she races to free the Morrigan before the Hellfire Society finds her or other people learn about her magic. Sex scenes are still graphic, excessive and unnecessary. Otherwise, this novel ticks all the boxes - action, intrigue, suspense and a little bit of sweetness. The characters have some real character development, but I feel like with the added 4th and possibly 5th suitor in this novel, the relationship development is lacking. This is one of my big pet peeves of RH novels. Very rarely is enough time spent seriously developing the relationships, and so what readers get is a bunch of meaningless sex followed by declarations of love. ugh. spare me. Editing continues to have problems, as punctuation is ignored or omitted. Still, the storyline is compelling enough that I will look forward to the next 2 books that allegedly will be released in late 2020 and mid 2021.
Mika is learning to embrace her new transformation after the challenge. School is now on the back burner and she is preparing for her eventual exposure. Learning about hell, about her magic and how to fight. She is gathering allies. Because their true enemy is revealed.
Really love the pace, attention to detail and action. Romance is a nicely sprinkled throughout the plot, but the rise of the Morrigan and resetting the balance is the main plotline. If you want a plotdriven RH than this series is a must.

Oh my goodness!!! Be warned, this book ends with a humdinger of a cliffhanger! I think this is my absolute fave in the series so far. Mika truly rose from the ashes, studied, trained, and became who she was always meant to be. There are many surprises within these pages that I refuse to spoil! However it gave me absolute joy seeing her rise up and truly earn her spot. sadly the level of utter weakness among the Council shouldn't shock me , but it did. I'm relieved Mika finally believes she's no longer alone. Family by choice, and some by other more interesting means fill the cracks within her heart. She's always had the heart of a warrior willing to fight for those she loves, and the underdogs. Yet in this book we see her become a true vision of justice. The war is far from over, and I think she might meet more family to come. I cannot wait to see what's next, and shall be cheering she and her family along every step of the way! This series is HIGHLY addictive, and thoroughly enjoyable in repeated readings 😁❤. Enjoy!!!!!
This book especially but the entire series so far is amazing. It's complex and surprising, slightly dark but with spouts of humor that absolutely tickle me. I love Mika, I love her guys and Audrey and all the side characters. I'm enjoying this story line so much but.... I almost wish the antagonist was resolved at the end of this book.
I still have Jessica's storyline to read (fair warning, these are marked as separate series but they seem to overlap based on the glimpses of Jessica's life we see) and we are 6 ( in the interest of fair, let's call it 5 since Corbin's book was very tiny) books into Mika with no end in site. It's getting a little too complicated and dragging a little too long considering the other FMCs that need to be read (yes, need, these ladies are not to be missed). But, it's so freaking good and fun to read. I've read 1-6 for Mika in 2.5 days, they are that addictive.
It's a long series. It's a lot of info. If you have a short amount of reading time or a short attention span this probably won't be the series for you. If you're a solid reader and love twisty turny oh so funny books, grab these up and enjoy.
Oh my goodness this series is just getting better and better. It is jammed packed with drama and mysteries with a big dash of suspense. It is a story that draws you in from the beginning to the end. Yes, the books do end in cliffhangers but the ride getting there is absolute glorious. It is extremely well written and the characters are stunningly developed. This story is magnificent in so many ways. It is the drama and suspense that pulls you into it so beautifully. It makes you feel like you are part of the story. That you have an investment in how it plays out. This series is a fantastic must read and it doesn't disappoint.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
I must say that Mika is totally awesome!! This book just made her even more so. We pick up during the aftermath left from the events of the last book. Mika has secluded herself from everyone but now has to rejoin society whether she wants to or not. Continuing to stumble across secret after secret she is tasked with freeing the Morrigan which is a doozy of task to say the least. Makes for a book that you just cannot put down as it all unfolds on page after page. A total must read! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I absolutely loved this book. This was amazing. The build-up and the number of threads tied off in this book is freaking amazing. Every chapter seemed like it had a major reveal or a mini climax. I need more. I need everything. I am not ready for it to end, but dang do I love it. Mika is so amazing and I literally cannot handle how awesome this book was and this series. Also, the number of people that we just met that could have their own series.....holy crap.
Mika will do a major transformation during this story. Through the pain of death, betrayal, love and hope she will become what is needed. But can she handle what she needs to do? She had to kill her own sister and that will haunt her. The men in her life do seem to be increasing. Some of them become friends and allies and some become lovers and family. This will be a dark time for her but she has them and several friends and family to help her and train her.
Mika and her guys are just amazing. Mika having to deal with the aftermath of her challenge and becoming the Matriarch of a coven of just her and her trying to release the Morrigan every thing is just coming to a head as she returns for her Fall semester at Morgana Academy. Will she Embrace the Chaos. im really loving their journey these books are just fantastic and chalk full of intrigue and adventure and action and suspense.
I liked this one a lot. I always seem to like it more when there’s dark things happening but it’s when I get the most out of Mika. I know it’s not good to make it too much obviously so I like the way things are when they happen.
Having the gods be more prevalent elevated the story and I like how everyone kinda just exists now, moving when needing to. It was a little sad seeing some absences but it worked out in the end.
Wow!!! I was blown away by As Wicked As They Come!!! I do believe this has just became my favorite of the series so far!! You know how you think you have a favorite, until the next installment comes out! Yeah this is exactly how this series goes.
Mika, freaking Queen Mika, is becoming what is has always meant to be. She has rose from the ground up to be such an memorable, awesome character. I rooted for her, and cheered for her every step of the way. She is a savage, she just needed to find that fire. Family can be made by choice not also by blood. I see more family members in her future, I hope. The war is not over yet, and she will need all the help she can get. There is a massive cliffy, but to me that just makes me need the next installment that much more, an obsession really.
This series is very addicting, cant put down, highly enjoyable read. I highly recommend this book and series.
This book we get to see Mika and the family get VERY comfortable with eachother and I absolutely could not want more from a series. We get to see her take down the Cassandra and I am all for that! This is seriously a story i can dive right into everytime, worth every minute i spend reading! Thank you Emma Dean, I am in love with this world you made.
This was another great book in the series, I love how much stronger the main character has become and how all of her relationships are becoming more cemented. Their more action in this book which I loved. If you like witches and RH then I would recommend this series.
As Wicked as They Come, book six of the University of Morgana: Academy of Enchantments and Witchcraft series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This may be the book with the slowest story progression, but that doesn't mean the action came to a standstill, so much going on, and more layers added to this onion of a storyline.
Holy hell I don’t even know where to start. I mean it may have taken 6 books but I’m so glad Mika is finally accepting who she is. I love the blood beasts coolest things ever. Also how many more men is she going to collect. That ending though was super crazy and I can’t wait to start the next book.
Emma, you have done it again! I have loved your books in the past but somehow lost you in the shuffle. Now I have to go back and read the whole series. Now how evil is that? Love Ya More!
Mika is going to war,she has to protect her I own.The Raven is taking all of them to his home now the waiting begins.Read the whole series it takes you on a journey you won't want to miss.
I am really enjoying this series. Not surprised though since I have enjoyed every other series from Emma Dean. I'm just sad I have to wait till December to see what happens....🥰
Mika is healing her heart and soul but kicking butt and taking names. Great build up with her reaffirming her relationship with everyone and coming to except who she truly is. Love the new characters and can’t wait for more!
I loved every minute, word, and page of it! I can't wait to see what happens to Mika and her court in the next book. It's going to be a crazy ride I'm sure but it will be awesome.
It's getting a little to much for me, six books, and book 7 & 8 are also waiting. This series is just to long for my taste. I skipped all the dirty sex scenes( don't like the porn-like scenes). So only 3 stars for this one, sorry...
Okay that was a lot to unpack in this book. I love how strong Mika has become and how she has truly accepted everything. I love our new characters and especially our hellhound.
Finally got some answers but boy did they come at a cost. Not sure how Mika is going to be able to fulfill all of her roles now but it'll be an interesting adventure
I loved the story, the characters are great and I will start the next book right away. I was somewhat surprised by the reveal at the end, that was unexpected to say the least. I can’t wait to find out what happens next and how this plays out.
