Break #1-3

The Break Series Collection

Rate this book
My name is Jamie Houston and if there's one thing I can't catch, it's a fucking break. Of all the people in the world to get snowed in at the library the night before a big exam, it had to be me. I must have pissed off karma or something because there is no way being trapped. Alone. In the Dark. With not one, not two, but FOUR sexy athletes can be a good thing. Especially not when they make the most outrageous bet. Who can please me the best? Puh-leaze. I'm not an easy girl. I've got plans for myself. Graduate and become the best journalist I can be. I don't have time for one boyfriend, much less a whole harem of them. No, thank you. But one night? I can probably swing that. So long as no one gets attached. I've got 99 problems, but heart break isn't going to be one ... or is it?This collection contains all three books in the Break series as well as an additional after story not sold elsewhere. Contains: *Study Break**Tough Break**Spring Break* *Lucky Break: A Break Series After Story**This is a reverse harem story and may contain sexual situations

This is a fast burn contemporary college reverse harem romance. This means that Jamie the FMC will end up with more one guy in a committed relationship. The bundle means that you can read the series in sequence and since each is quite short in length, it’s easy to get through the complete series. The books are separated by events and over a period of time, if not years over college, which means that you can pick up each story individually and easily but it should be read in sequence.

There isn’t much to know about Jamie and each of the guys back stories and after they initially have a meeting where they are stuck together in a storm, their relationship goes from zero to 100 in the space of hours in the story. This story is packed with lots of steam. The harem, themselves are likeable characters. I like that each book in the series is short and sticks to a specific event and time period but shows progression in the relationship. Also the addition of the final 4 novella ties up the story nicely so it’s a good addition to the trilogy.

Warning that this series may have some triggers for some people. There is an attempted sexual assault, sex with multiple people at the same time and light BDSM in the bedroom.

So I had to DNF this one but NOT because I didn’t love the story. I just didn’t vibe with it and it was weirdly paced. There were some flaws in some situations (leggings then jeans/no panties then panties in the same scene) that for me are understandable but also irritating as a reader.
I feel like I might try to read this again later but I’m not sure.

This is the full story of Jamie's and her guys, Taylor, Dexter, Cody and Dare. They meet in college and the guys go for Jamie as they all have a crush on her. After a night locked in the library where they everything to passion, they decide to pursue a relationship. Throughout college they grow and they deal with family situations that won't accept their unusual relationship.

I started this series because I wanted to read some contemporary college RH. I liked the story, but I felt like everything went too fast and sometimes events and even characters weren't introduce so you wondered who they were or when that did happen.

This was an okay story, written pretty badly. Plots are written, then forgotten, then changed. It has no real time line. Problems are started and eluded to but then forgotten and never resolved. Over all it was just bad.

RH. Why Chose. With Weak Very Little Plot

I feel like I need a good cleansing after reading this book.

What a complete disappointment.

It was basically a big pile of SMUT!

Smut, with a very weak storyline used to connect the scenes involving all the F’ing his group was doing together.

Insecure Jamie Houston, bullied by the college Mean Girls sorority, escapes to the relative quiet of the campus library to study for her up coming English Lit Exam.

Lucky for her she bumps into football hottie Cody.

Cody is fresh out if a tumultuous relationship with Jamie’s nemesis, and ex sorority sister, Victoria.

Just so happens there is a snow storm descending, on the college, and Cody ALSO happens to be on his way to the library to bring snacks to his two buddies, Dex ( Dexter) and Taylor ( Donavon Taylor )

He gives Jamie a lift.

Once there, Jamie catches up with Darren, ( also a footballer, Also, a hottie ) who works in the library for credit.

While drooling over THESE two hot guys right in front of her
( serious descriptive overload here )

Cody informs her that Dex ( Dexter) is A WIZ, AT English Lit, and perhaps she should join him in the guys study room 😉

Jamie agrees because she’s a sad little girl with no friends just trying to get her degree
( Worst FL character EVER )

Then before you can say…*cough* setup.

The snow storm gets WORSE, lights going OUT, there is a saucy game of TRUTH being played, ending in Dex and Cody confessing to Jamie that they are interested in her,
( while the other boys are looking for supplies, )

And
They want just one night with her to rock her world, AND, prove that they could have a relationship that worked, if she agrees, hopefully, making the arrangement permanent.

But!

It’s not just them,…
It also Darren, and Taylor. ( the two who went for supplies, Also hotties)

All the guys have gotten together and decided that, with her agreement, they would like TO SHARE HER..

After being initially SHOCKED !

Jamie agrees…because what girl wouldn’t.

She’s been desperately lonely, and NOW freckin four hot guy want to “F” her brains out?
She’s like…SIGN ME UP!

“sitting at a table full of ridiculously hot guys left me feeling like a starving girl in a candy shop. Hungry and insatiable.” ( ffs)

That’s basically it from this point foreword. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s the story

Chapter, after Chapter of Jamie satisfying one guy after the other, sometimes all, sometimes two… You get the picture.

Of course these moments are punctuated with the filmiest of storyline’s and cheesy bonding moment between the five F friends.

But, of course readers probably are not really reading this for a gripping angsty story, they are probably just here for the RH, “Why chose “ smutty sex scenes..

And in this book they are here in ABUNDANCE!

So.

If you’re after a story thin on plot, but full of smutty sex, this is for you.

The juicy sexy stuff.?

The multiple, why chose stuff?

Becomes pretty interchangeable, by the end of the story with all guys participating in the same kinds of sexual adventures ( the exception being Dexter the Dom who’s into ass play and toys )

It all becomes rather … Pedestrian.

I kept waiting for some big disaster, something really major to happen, but it never does.

There’s a a few hiccups in their rather unconventional relationship,
( a relationship that Jamie likes to berate society about not understanding, in her head)
But these dramas are quickly resolved.
Usually by Jamie herself as she goes above and beyond to “hang on” to “her guys”

“They are mine all of them”

Then she F’s her way to the end, with another little drama involving Den’s family
( this part made me laugh…How did the guys all manage to magically turn up? )

By this point I was still hanging in there, waiting for the shoe to drop on the whole five of them.
For the big drama at the end, but besides the Dex family drama, nada.

IT NEVER HAPPENS!

So it ends … the way MOST of these books do with the typical HEA tropes.

Be it slightly unconventional one as families have to be informed about the multiples, and not all are onboard, the one bride, four guys weddings train

All ending with the cheesy four Dads and a baby.

It always amazes me how RH authors try to install a “ female empowered” narrative into what is a very submissive situation for a female, by claiming the women are in control to some extent when in reality it is the men in the sexual situations that are controlling the female.

So, what do they do?
Put BJ scenes in of course, to make it appear that the female, while in her KNEES is Somehow empowered.

Yeah.

If your looking for something worthy of entertaining your brain and not just your libido…
Look elsewhere

the bonus story was worth it

I think if I had read these stories all as stand alone novellas, I would have appreciated them a bit better. The first two books were just too sex driven, which considering I love me some hot sex in the stories I read, is telling. I felt like I was reading erotica with the limited scenes that didn’t involve sex. Book 1, was fine, as that was what the story was. Book 2, it got a little old, book 3, I started skimming the sex for different stuff, but book 4 was perfectly balanced. I still skimmed the sex, but it was the other stuff that appealed. The family drama.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the read, despite their being multiple contradictions through out the story. (She started the book with black hair, ends with dirty blonde, varying recollections of her previous sexual experiences, and such.)
I think there could have been more added to the plot of each story. The sorority girls in book 1 just sort of vanished. (We all know no one is that lucky, especially if you take 4 of the best specimens off the shelf under their noses). Book 2’s plot was passable, but I would have liked to see something better to come out of it for Jamie, or for Beth to get her just deserts. Book 3, kind of hit the mark. Book 4 was almost perfect, but I would have loved if Dex’s dad showed up just to rile his mum. I think That could have been a nice twist.
All in all, I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for some steam to heat and curl their toes on cold winter nights. It definitely got my blood pumping, so I gave it an extra star ;-)

I’ll read pretty much anything at this point in my life and I’ve read some pretty plotless smut and still enjoyed it, but this was just too much. There was literally no plot, no conflict, no build up, just a bunch of dudes in a library who randomly decided they all wanted to date this girl and the best way was to share her all at once the entire time and that was somehow totally cool for someone with virtually no experience. (I’m sorry but the logistics of that beg to differ…)
RH usually has some more build up, some conflict as far as choosing or not wanting to choose, a couple of group things, but mostly just separate encounters that may lead up to some of the more complex logistics of being a group… and there’s usually a conflict like a bully romance, a crime syndicate, or something supernatural.
Book 1 and 2 literally just had no conflict at all.
I think I maybe would have forgiven the story had the FMC had at least ONE friend, but no.. all other female characters were enemies and I’m not here for that kind of girl bashing.

This is an omnibus of erotic short stories. It follows the same group of 4 men and 1 women over time. The omnibus essentially indulgences in lusciously filthy sex from cover to cover.

The first book had less of a story, so there wasn’t a lot of tension or emotion. They went from zero to infinity in 1 page. Book 1 is really just a book about “a night of sex with 4 guys”. Dirty sex. Repeatedly.

Books 2 and 3 have more variety and more interesting social settings. Their relationship has evolved so I enjoyed the second and third books more as a result. However, the second book was my favourite.

I think it earns a solid 4 stars as an erotic omnibus. It lost a star as I imagine a bit more emotion and teasing would have been nice. Plus there are a few unanswered questions that I wished the author took a moment to address. (I am still curious by nature.)

I think rom com/erotica would best describe this series.
1st POV, only Jamie. Cute, funny, steamy, a bit of seriousness.
Jamie and Cody, Darren, Dex, & Taylor.
Dex was my FAVORITE! Love me some dominance.
1/10/21 Study Break: Library nookie fivesome! Hot, steamy, funny
1/10/21-1/11/21 Tough Break: Takes places a few months after their library 5some. Still hot & steamy but definitely more depth the their relationship. Setting Washington D.C.
1/11/20 Spring Break:I think 2 years into their 5some relationship. Stephen was a dick. Still hot AF and still getting deeper into their relationship and personalities.
1/12/21 Lucky Break: Graduated college, sweet proposal bringing it back from where it all started, starting their lives in NYC . HEA

Continuity and sex

Cute story, however you don’t get to know the characters very much. This is more of a sex book than a romance and getting to know the characters with sexy time mixed in. Continuity could have some adjustments. Book 2 made it seem like there were a couple of years in between 1 and 2, however several times in the book, it referenced back to a few months ago. I love more character development and getting to know how the characters evolve and change as the story progresses.

Hmmm

This book would have been fantastic with more information. It was mostly about sex and just time jumps with little information. Nothing happened at the school except for like 2 sentences. Nothing happened with the girl that basically ruined her freshman year. We don't get any information about the guys' lives except for Dex, and even then it's minimal. We know nothing about their lives (before, during, or after) except for sex, sex, and more sex. I mean why even make a small storyline if it's just going to be bulldozed and we never learn anything about any of them.

Could not take her stammering and staring in the beginning. She was super annoying. Skipped to the epilogue and was disappointed. I was hoping it would make me go back and read the rest. It didn’t. And the editor needs to be fired. He said both of them had been tested because they were on the football team. Then the second guy say I’m not on the team but I’ve been tested. There were only two dudes in the room….WTF!?!? Then there was a lot of time talking about her leggings and they magically turned into jeans! After the first spicy scene I was done.

The spice in this book is so bad. The characters are inconsistent- MFC goes from a shy stuttering girl one minute to full lines of dirty talk demanding what she wants in detail while being railed by 2 guys a few minutes later. The one guy is written to be dominant but it not believable in the least- like he is play acting. The phrases and actions are just like taken out of a different book applied to a character and situation where it just isn’t believable. I DNF when he tells her to put her hands up on a shelf- when she removes them he stops what he is doing and tell her to put them back and if she doesn’t ’this all stops’ and asks if she understand and “from now I want you to call me sir”. For context they are college kids stuck in a library overnight from a snowstorm. I can’t fully explain but it is just not at all believable. The author into says this books is supposed to be just a fun super spicy book- but then takes too long to get to the spice and tries to force themes that just don’t belong in this setting. Also- they keep telling her how good they are going to make it for her- but then when she says she wants to come the dominate one “playing boss” tells the guys going down on her to show her how to come and orders him to move up to her mouth and she goes without any other attention than to give yet another blow job. Don’t get me wrong - I enjoy giving them but it is just inconsistent that they are supped to be focused on giving her pleasure so she wants to stay with their group but the orgasm ratio between them and her is way off. The concept has potential but it a totally miss.

One thing you come to expect with a Lucy Smoke book is that it will be super steamy. This one did not disappoint. It starts out of the gate hot and then mixes in quite a bit of emotion as well. I truly enjoyed this contemporary reverse harem. The characters are great. Each one has such differing personalities that allow the story to pop. The storyline kept me interested from the first page to the last. Amazingly, written in a way only Lucy can pull off.

Loved this book! This reverse haram romance was 🔥🔥🔥. The men were swoon worthy and the storyline was very cute. I loved that each “part” didn’t have some crazy problem at the end that resulted in any breakups. This was just a pure fun book full of love between the characters. The only thing I wish it had was a longer epilogue! I won’t spoil it, but I wish it ended with a POV of each character just to wrap everything in a nice little bow.

I did not think I was going to enjoy this book. It is a RH and ive never read one completely before but i was pleasantly surprise about this story. I liked that this book showed more in the relationships than just the sex. It actually showed Jaime getting to know the guys and how their relationship evolved over a few years time period, and how she interacted with each guy on a day to day basis. The ending was really sweet but I wish there was more to the epilouge of the third book.

2/5; it was fine. I wish we learned more about the characters individually.. usually reverse harems do better imo when the have multiple povs. I think it's harder to get to know four guys through one person's eyes and it makes it easier to differentiate when each relationship is on the spotlight. I enjoyed Dex's character the most. he seemed to have the most depth and personality out of the four.
it was okay is a very good description.
spice: 3/5 (all dex baby he is mwah mwah)

There were some issues with detail and continuity, but it was certainly spice heavy. I think I’m going to stop reading where I am (end of book 1) because things feel decently wrapped up and I can’t imagine enjoying their attempts to have a five-person poly romance on a US college campus. It’s a recipe for angst (especially with Jamie’s self-esteem issues and the problems she already has with the girls on campus) and I don’t want to put myself through that right now.

Jamie and the boys

I want to start off by saying I dont think I’ve ever read a book that read just like adult films as much as this, I’m even more shocked I finished it. I’ll be honest you want RH Smut this is your book, not a lot else happens, time skips years in this book. And there is just another place to have a quicky. Nothing gets resolved, people who are talked about have no finishing happenings. It is just dropping pants. Does have a HEA.

So close to a 4

So the se(xx)y times were good, epic good. The rest of the book seemed like fluff though. There wasn’t really any insight on the back stories of the characters. It was grazed over with a few of them but that’s it. These books could be a solid 5 if I had been more invested in the characters.

So what could happen when you're stuck in a library during a snowstorm? Well anything and everything when you are there with four of the hottest guys and they all want you. Man this series is HOT! Love the characters and the chemistry is off the charts! You get deeply involved in all of their lives as they try to navigate through college and what happens after!

I enjoyed this series for its steaminess and the sweetness of the feelings between Jamie and her harem.

The character development didn’t reach far enough to make the characters particularly convincing, especially given their complicated romantic arrangement but this book was all more about the warm fuzzies than the practicalities, which I totally respect and enjoyed.

The smut is spot on, but that story line was wack. I didn't even realize it skipped several years in book 3 until it mentioned it was their last spring break. To go from a 1 night thing, to suddenly a month break from school, jump to the return after Xmas break.....and then jump straight to 3 years later? Nope. That story deserved better development bc it's definitely a bare bones type of book.

No plot.
Let me just start it like that. That's all you really need to know. Having said that, did I read all four books? Yes, yes I did. This book is four compiled books of literally nothing except for smut. So, if that's what you're looking for, here ya go! I would honestly compare this book to Den of Vipers (not that I've actually read it, I have just heard stories), but not as dark.

Love Jamie's story with her men!

I'm going to be honest, the spicy scenes are what saved this collection for me. While the story isn't bad, and I definitely enjoyed it, I felt like it was missing a lot of stuff. I also noticed quite a few inconsistencies, that bugged me. However, I don't regret reading it, and I will definitely check out more of Lucy's books.

Lucky indeed

I enjoyed this collection although I felt it went from 0 to 100 real quick. Especially after just finishing Iris Boys. Lol. This packed a lot of steam which was great but seemed a bit rushed at some points. Overall I enjoyed it though!

I enjoyed the characters and the story. There were timeline flaws that bothered me but most people probably aren't as picky as me. Despite any very minor flaws it was an enjoyable read.
