New teachers, new students, and new magical secrets.
The statues at La Voisin aren’t what they seem, and one in particular appears to have changed his position since last semester. But statues can’t move.
Can they?
A single touch to the stone figure reveals a life before this one. One where the statue made a brother pact with another man. A very familiar man. Unfortunately, Madison can’t seem to place him in her mind.
But just when Madison thinks that’s the only mystery on her plate, her young new roommate goes missing, and her quest to find answers brings new light to the vision of the two men and reveals the dark secrets that run deep at this not-so-innocent school for witches.
I'm still as hooked as I was with the first book. Madison's powers are evolving and so is the strangeness around her. New creatures, new characters and new relationships forming. A brilliant evolution from the first book and still so many questions unanswered. I've already started the third book! I'm really pleased I found this series and even more pleased that there are plenty more books for me to read. I really recommend it. It's easy to read, easy to follow, great storyline and fascinating characters.
I ♥️♥️♥️ this story and this is book 2 to the Academy of the Damned and Madison is back at the academy she gets a new young roommate who goes missing the statues are moving and there are secrets and more secrets it looks like it’s going to be another crazy year at the academy for Madison and I loved every page of this story. This is a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
This series is just getting better and better. Love the mystery and suspense that keeps me addicted to this story. Not usually a big fan of YA stories but this one is so worth the read. Can't wait to grab book 3.

This is the second book in the Academy of the Damned series and we start to find out little by little more about the school. I really enjoy this series as it pulls me in and has me watching from the sidelines instead of just reading it. I can't wait to read the next book.

Try to keep up to all the twists and turns. It was well written and followed through from the first book. Both my 14 year old daughter and I really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend this series so far.
Emotionally thrilling, action packed adventure filled with dangerous yet interesting charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and exciting turns. A highly entertaining read from beginning to end and I look forward to more!
Overall I liked this book. Madison is back and the school has more secrets. Of course her and her friends are trying to figure things out. At times they made me annoyed and I have to remind myself that they are in high school. This is why I try to avoid YA books. However, the mysteries in the book are enough to keep me interested.
*Minor spoilers present, but only if you haven't read the first book in the series.
I went into this book with some trepidation. There were some things that I thought the first book was doing pretty well but was afraid that in order to satisfy certain audiences they would move away from. As we know, Madison lost her boyfriend via accident in the first book and I was afraid they would throw her into a relationship in the second book to satisfy romance readers. It didn't feel right to me b/c she should still be grieving or at least conflicted. Fortunately, though possible future romances were explored, they didn't engage them in this book, which I thought was appropriate.
I have also been very impressed by the creation of tension. The audience, to a certain extent, is just as clueless as Madison regarding what is really going on. Madison's increasing suspicions about the statues have been handled very well as have her trust and mistrust of certain people regarding what she does and doesn't know. It feels right, appropriate, and not designed to create fake tension.
I also like the fact that they're continuing with the point of view that not all things we're told are the real truth and slowly introducing those inconsistencies has been very effective. Too often the mistold history in paranormal fiction tends to be along the lines of the supernatural actually exists. Ok, so? Boring since I know the genre I'm reading. The focus of this series is analogous to real-world claims about historicity being influenced by inherent racial, religious, provincial, or gender bias. We often believe the historical lies we are told about our country and our community, at least until new information comes along to challenge our beliefs--if and when we are open to accepting this new information. That aspect of the story has been handled really well.
If I have any continuing trepidation is that I like the humble, smart, and capable Madison. I don't want her to be a Mary Sue. Her skeptical intelligence is one of my favorite features of her personality. Too often authors make the main protagonist too overpowered. Those stories tend to focus on how she wins the battle of power versus power since, of course, the main protagonist will survive. One of the surprising and emotionally satisfying elements of this series is solving the mystery. It 's really keeping me engaged.
All in all, I've been really happy with this series and am looking forward to the next installment.

Madison is still dealing with a lot of issues including her mother's drinking problem. Things are going better at school even with what happened before. Madison's life will change again with things that will happen at school. Madison has gotten a new roommate at school, her name is Zoey. Zoey lost all her family members and had no where to go. Madison feels protective of her. Madison gets use to having her around like a little sister. Madison is starting to connect to her magic and she is confused by it. She isn't supposed to be able to what she does according to the school. She doesn't know if she should say anything about what is going on. When Mrs. Brewster asks Madison to locate a flute she has been looking for. Madison goes to her favorite place, the grotto. She sits with the statues of the nameless man. She speaks to them, she sees something. They give her a clue, but not much of anything else. When Madison enlists her friends to help her locate the flute, this is when everything goes down hill. Madison will have to deal with quite a few things that happen. She will be looking into the school, her powers, her feelings for Jaxon, the statues, so much more. Madison will be put in a situations where her life is danger, will she be able to make or will someone suffer because of it.
This book was quite addictive to read, as you wanted to see what is going to happen next. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next with Madison. What is going on with the statues, the school, her powers.

Madison is back at La Voisin Academy and has a new roommate, Zoey Rhee, a 13-year-old witch prodigy. Madison is barely over helping Giselle to cross over and the way things ended with Ms. Brochard. Madison is also trying to come to grips with her mother's newest stint in rehab. Can she dare hope that it is for real, or should she just go it alone and leave her Mom to take care of herself? Ivy, Jaxson, and Krista are still there to support her through, and there is the addition of a new friend from the Village of Salem, Giselle, who she begins to get to know. There is more to Giselle than meets the eye. Things in the Grotto and with the statues as a whole is getting super weird. The mystery of what is happening with the statues grows, especially as a new roommate issue comes to light. Is there a connection between Madison's roommates, the Grotto, and Statues?
As Madison's powers grow, she becomes more confident in herself, yet she is finding it difficult to reconcile who she is becoming as a witch and what she is learning at La Voisin about witches and their powers. There is a bigger mystery to be solved, and with so much action and suspense, this story keeps you engaged from page one to the very last page. Ritual of Magic is a phenomenal Book 2 in the Academy of the Damned series. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I can hardly wait for Book Three!

Can Madison solve the mystery of what is happening at LaVoisin before she too dies? After her first roommate died trying to solve a mystery, Madison has been secretly trying to find out why the numerous statutes seem to move, and why she has a connection to the statue in the secret grotto. He leaves her messages. But when he gets a new roommate, an underage student only thirteen years old and she disappears within the first few days of being there, none of the faculty seem to care. Butt Madison cares and she receives clues that maybe Zoey is still alive. Clues that lead her to believe the history told about LaVoisin and the Salem witch trials isn’t completely accurate. She doesn’t trust any of the faculty and especially the Headmistress. Now she is a prisoner of the academy, can’t contact her mother and can’t go into the town to research. Will she be the next to die, or is she more powerful than anyone believes, and can she save her friends and the statues, who she now knows are alive?
New teachers, new students, and new magical secrets. The statues at La Voisin aren’t what they seem, and one in particular appears to have changed his position since last semester. This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.

Madison is back at the Academy as a third year. Her mother is sober and plans to remain that way. She receives a new roommate…but she is only 13 and an orphan. But she is mega advanced in witch ways and sweet to boot. They have a new teacher as well. She knows this is going to be a better year…that is until it actually begins! The statues are definitely moving a leaving her messages. Her powers are coming out more…and is not supposed to be able to do these things. Her roommate goes missing once again~ Ms. Brewster and Mr. Andrews have many secrets they are covering up! Mr. Andrews attacks Madison! She uncovers more secrets that bring about more questions! She meets new people that seem to have the answers, but much cloak and dagger will have to be played to get answers. All in all, she is back at it again…but this time the stakes are even higher than ever before. Her roommate’s life is on the line as well. I received this via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.
This is the second book in the Academy of the Damned and I highly recommend you read book 1, Curse of Stone, first. It’s a new year at La Voisin and Madison is back, this time with a new roommate. Now this one’s gone missing and Madison and her friends must find her in time. The statues are still moving and leaving her messages, and Giselle’s ghost is still there haunting her. I’m really glad that they haven’t pushed Madison into a relationship since her boyfriend died in book one. Let her grieve and move on when she’s ready. Madison still has to figure out who she can truly trust, there’s great plot twists, and I love the world building that’s been going on in this series. Great mystery, a wonderful level of suspense. Perfect for teens and above. This is a great series and I can’t wait for book three to come out. **I received a copy from Booksprout and this is my honest and voluntary review
Madison's first roommate was killed, the second has mysteriously disappeared. Giselle's ghost asked her to help them, and the statue in the grotto wants her help. When she is attacked by one of the teachers, twice, Madison is fed up and ready to leave La Voisin, forever. After a conversation with an acquaintance in the nearby village, Madison decides to stay, and try one more time to save her young roommate, and solve the mystery of the statues.
Madison is feisty, fierce, and determined, I love her. Well written, and compelling characters. Exciting, read with some suspense, and plenty of interesting twists in the plot that kept me guessing. Fantastic book, I'm already looking forward to the next one.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book which was even better than the first book, the first book introduced the characters. The second book got into the story, and the real story behind the school 😱😱 I really enjoyed the way that Madison questions everything at every turn, but it doesn't leave her well liked in some circles, who try to stop her at every turn. It's a good job she's got her friends, and has made a new friend from the village, who seems to be helping her too. I can't wait to read the next instalment, to see what happens next, I'd definitely recommend this book, but you do have to read book one first, this book is not a stand alone 💞💞💞💗💗💗💗
Great story! This story is book 2 in the series and is well written, has engaging characters and an interesting scenario. Since this is book 2, we already know about the basic setting at the Academy of the Damned but this book continues the development and brings the setting even more to life. The characters we know from the first book have returned and there are additional new ones to get to know. I like the fact that the characters are so developed and engaging that I feel like I know them and could fit into their friend group (were I much younger, of course!). I am really enjoying this series and can't wait to read the next book!

This second book in the series is even better than the first one, the mysteries keep growing, the friendship solidifying, some clues here and there keep appearing, the statues keep moving, now Madison has proof of that, a walk to Town turned out to be something more, much more, another roommate missing, of course that had to happen again 😔... And now Madison finally meet the mysterious guy... and there was no more pages left... What?, seriously?, you're killing me with that cliffhanger 😳🤯😩😭... Can't wait for the next book, need it now!!! 😍❤️

This is the first book I have read in this series. From some references in the book about what happened before, I am assuming there are other books in the series. You can read this book stand alone. It does end in a cliffhanger. I thought the book was very interesting and I enjoyed the story. The main character is very well written and relatable. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series as this one captured my imagination. You never knew what was going to happen next. I recommend this book.

Madison is in her second year at La Voison school for witches. Her new room mate has disappeared and Madison is trying to find out what happened and hopefully get her back. The statues in the school grounds are most definitely moving - albeit very slowly - and never when anyone can see. There seems to be some kind of connection between one of them and Madison - although she doesn't know what it is. Something strange is also going on with the teachers and Madison no longer trusts them. She enlists the help of the few friends she has at the school to try and unravel the mystery.
Madison is ready to return to school and see her friends again. Hopefully this time without the drama... but is that too much to ask. Book 2 takes us on another roller coaster ride. This is quite an addictive read. What will happen next at the academy and what is going on with her powers. Loving the mystery and suspense... and the hint at possibly a romance in book 3 (I’m glad it wasn’t rushed) Will Madison get through everything without anyone else having to suffer... Cannot wait for book 3.

Madison get a new roommate, this year. Zoey is cute but 13, and has lost both her parents. The girls hit it off mostly. Ms Brewster has a new challenge for Madison, she wants her to find something. Finding the flute is the easy part, what comes next Madison never could have expected.
There is something strange going on at the school, and Madison really wants to get to the bottom of it. But who can she really trust?? This just kept going and wouldn't let me put it down. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
Wow! This is the second book in the series and just as action packed as the first one. Madison is ready to return to La Voisin and looking forward to seeing her friends. She soon discovers she’s been assigned a roommate with little explanation. And that mysterious statue still lingers on the academy’s grounds. Mix it all up with a missing student that no one seems to be worried about and you have yourself a wonderful adventure to be had. Looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series.

Madison is back and it is a time for a new roomie, to continue her studies and investigations and discover some new things about herself. Will her new found abilities help or hinder her? Is she ready to move on from Beau and his memory?
Madison is about to learn that speaking to those she trusts is in her best interest. She also must convince them that mere mortals aren't lesser than them. She will also prove how strong she is and a force to be reckoned with no matter who you are.
Another page turner which still leaves you wanting more.
This story just keeps getting better. Madison is not having an easy go at La Voisin. Her first roommate was killed and now her new one has disappeared. And the mystery of the statues is getting weirder and more dangerous. Shes starting to wonder who she can really trust.
Great plot twists and world building, as well as character development. I love the complexity of the story and the relationships within it. I'm hooked and cannot wait for book 3.
Wonderful storey, Loved book one but book two is even better!. lots of mystery, suspence and really good storey telling. Madison is back at the Academy and has a new roomate who soon goes missing so she needs to find out what happened to her along with Helping the statues and continuing to deal with her complex homelife as well as continuing to catch up at school. Wonderful storey with mystery, meyhem and suspence.
The second in the Academy of the Damned series. The mystery and suspense grab your attention for the entire book, keeping you on the edge of your seat!! Wonderful characters and world building! Madison's new roommate goes missing. How and why are the statues moving? Madison's quest for answers continues. Can't wait for book three!!

Couldn't go along without checking this one out. Fast in to escape into this realm with Madison showing us the magic and this one as it unravels around us. And what about that statue is not that a puzzler that catches our attention. We will be given a treasure trove with this one and the mysteries that come along. We do our best to shine the light on all that is going down. Wonder what the rate of this academy is?
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This story, or should I say, mystery is getting intense. Teachers attacking students, people missing, statues that are moving, and psychic abilities that aren't supposed to be real. I can't wait to read the next story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
