alarick

'ALARICK' is the first book in Bella Jewel's 'King's Descendant's' series. Flits from past to present time.

Anything this author writes, I will read it, if she re-wrote the phone book I'd read that too!! So when I saw she was dipping her toes back into a new biker series I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. This was one of my most highly anticipated reads this month, and she didn't disappoint.

I was hooked from the get go, inhaled it. Couldn't put it down. Twists and turns that had devouring the pages. Two cold case mysteries that I'm hoping roll over into the next book because I need answers!!

Alarick had always had Briella's back, a bond that was formed when her mother married his father when she was 10 and Alarick was 17 making them step-siblings, as the years progress before everything turned so wrong we saw them getting closer. He may not have been her first kiss but he was her first in everything else that counted. But when tragedy struck she left all that she'd grown to love behind her.

That was five years ago.

Now she's back, back to the life she loved but the life she also feared. But that was then, now she's older, more understanding and isn't going to let anything get in the way of acquiring the answers she seeks. But Alarack isn't going to make it easy for her. he doesn't want her here.

But she has to forge ahead with her search finding her sister Magnolia who it seems has disappeared off the face of the earth, leaving a few questionable clues behind. At this stage of Alarick's life he's fully taken over his father’s place within the club.

These two clash head to head but the passion that had ignited between them when they were younger has just simmered away in the background until now..

Just be warned that this does end in a cliffy but Alarick and Briella will return in April.

I really enjoyed this new MC series by Bella Jewel. I was sucked in from the very beginning and I read straight through to the end.

I do have to say that the heroine really did annoy me at times, but that seems to happen to me a lot, since I am so harsh on my heroines :P She was definitely not my favorite Bella Jewel heroine. She came across as a bit whiny and judgy. I hated her for how she tried to make Alarick turn his back against his dad and his club. Thankfully he didn't listen to her immature bitchin...

The storyline, however, was very intriguing and I can't wait to read the next book. I figured all books in this series would feature a different main couple, but I was wrong. Alarick and Bri's story will continue in the next book. I am so freaking curious to know what will happen next since we got an awesome revelation at the end here... This book doesn't end on a huge cliffhanger, but rather a small one. It makes me want to know what is gonna be next but it didn't leave me frustrated.

I would also love to know what happened to Bri's friend Avi. Now she sounded like a heroine I would love and if she does make a comeback, I really hope we will get her story eventually as well ;)

I may not be the heroine's biggest fan but I am a fan of this series so far. Let's hope Bri grows up a bit so she might also grow on me ;)

CLIFFHANGER!

"How many men have had their lips on what's mine since you left?"

"Flick," I whimper. "That doesn't matter." "How many, Briella?" "Two." He growls, and then his mouth drops lower, and he's diving into my pussy with a ferocity that is a little alarming.

"Dad always used to say to me, you can fuck a million women, and it'll feel great, but when you fuck the woman you love, no feeling will ever match it. He was right."

"What are you saying?" I whisper. He steps forward. "I'm sayin' I want you. I want you here. I want us. But I'm not goin' to spend the rest of my life convincin' you that it's safe. You have to make that choice on your own, and unless you let go of this hatred towards King, you're never going to do that.

Alarick is book 1 in the King's Descendants MC and it was a fantastic start to a new series by Bella Jewel. Before I begin I will admit I wasn't loving the one chapter in the present then the next chapter in the past but after a few chapters it really started working for me. I felt it helped understand Alarick's behavior towards Briella when she returns and it gives us a picture of their lives together starting from when she is 10 and he is 17. I loved Alarick, he was there for Briella from the beginning and he was always her protector. His treatment towards Briella when she returns was expected after what she did and without a doubt it was because he loved her so much and she broke his heart. Everything was great for Briella she had a new family and grew up with loving men around her until a tragic event broke her and she started hating the club life. While I understood her heartbreak I honestly thought she was completely unfair in her treatment of King and what she did to Alarick was unfair. I was happen when she came back and finally admitted she made a mistake and it was her heartbreak that ruled her emotions. I loved all the guys in the club that were introduced and I can't wait for book 2.

"How many men have had their lips on what's mine since you left?" he growls, the vibrations rumbling through my p. and making it so much harder not to lose control."
"Dad always used to say to me, you can fuck a million women, and it'll feel great, but when you fuck the woman you love, no feeling will ever match it. He was right." Alarick

This ended my reading and I DNF at this point. He's been a jerk most of book at this point ,(claiming he loves her), and she just told him she has brain tumor. He walked out after she told him.

He's not book boyfriend material and I knew he was president of a biker club so it's on me.

Maybe just my mood at present. You decide.

This is a fantastic first in a series! I’d thought this book was a standalone, and while some things do wrap up, it’s the first in two novels featuring Alarick and Briella. The rest of the books in the series will feature different characters.
The entire book is written from Briella’s point of view, with both past and present timelines. Six years ago she left town, including abandoning her boyfriend/step-brother. But now her sister isn’t responding to her calls and texts and she’s worried about her. She comes back to town, putting off a surgery she needs until after she can find and help her sister.
I picked this book up because it was suggested in a facebook group under the prompt of the heroine being sick and keeping her illness from her loved ones. This book doesn’t disappoint with this trope! She has a brain tumor and is getting awful headaches, but she is driven to find her sister before she has to undergo surgery–because if she doesn’t make it through the surgery, then who will help her sister? I love this kind of familial love in my romance novel heroines, and this book delivers nicely on this front.
While I enjoyed the book, the relationship between Alarick and Briella felt a little rushed and stilted. This is partly because it’s told through present and past timelines, and the gaps just didn’t quite connect for me. This was made up for by a fabulous suspense plotline, which I honestly wasn’t expecting. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next!

Left Hanging

The book was interesting however I'm not to keen on the past/future way of writing. I don't like going back and forth.

It's was good to see her get her surgery and the man. But I've never heard of getting results of a tumor back that fast.

Now that King visited her you're left wondering if her mom will be alive. But that is how the Author leaves you hanging just wish the were upfront and said it was a Cliffhanger. Ugh I hate that!

Ok, I haven't read Bellas books in awhile because In my opinion her writing changed. This was okay but still not as good as the Jokers or Sinner books IMO.

Second chance. Five years apart. Involves flashbacks.

There was no way the upended storylines would be resolved by book’s end. There are drug references, prostitution, human trafficking and law enforcement corruption.

Briella and Alaric’s relationship began as step-siblings, developed into friendship and ultimately a relationship. He was her protector.

Briella has a brain tumour and her Neurosurgeon has recommended removal of the affected tissue to prevent spreading. Exploratory surgery will determine if it’s cancerous.

She is putting her affairs in order which includes bridging the gap between the sisters, in the event the procedure is unsuccessful rendering her paralysed.

Reconnecting is not easy, her stepsister is a still a vile, taunting bully and has remained true to form, Alaric dismisses her, then brutally sets conditions for their help; her sister is no where to be found.

Her friend Aviana’s father and brothers were involved in a deal gone wrong and were murdered. Aviana and Briella hid out of sight and went undetected. The altercation implicated King, her stepfather, the president of the MC.

Then Aviana vanished.

She assumed her mother’s murder was meant to send a message to the club. Unable to cope amidst a host of painful memories, she left, her sister chose to remain behind.

“You were runnin’ around town talkin’ about stuff that didn’t happen, Briella”.
“You didn’t even try to understand what I was saying,”
Then after mom died, you didn’t want to believe me then, either.”
“As for your mom, don’t ever blame King for somethin’ you don’t understand.”
I keep pushing him away.
For all the pain caused.
For the explosion I feel in my chest.
“No,” I growl, shoving him, “You do not get to come in here and pretend like what we had never mattered to you. Now, leave me alone while I find my sister so I can get the hell out of here and never have to see you again.”
My words are angry and spiteful, but I can’t stop them and the way they flow out of my mouth like a violent whip.
“Stay the hell out of my life, Alarick.”

Briella was assertive and did not allow Alaric to intimidate her, showing no fear. She was able to take the details and correlate them.

Briella confesses her condition to Alaric after her sister’s body is dumped on their property. They offer each other comfort and reunite.

Do you trust King?"
"What are you saying?" I whisper.
He steps forward. "I'm sayin' I want you. I want you here. I want us. But I'm not goin' to spend the rest of my life convincin' you that it's safe. Have you ever even asked him what he thinks happened? No. You just judge, and that ain't right." She was judgemental and irrational.

She never returned for King’s funeral - disrespectful and immature. She discovers a letter amongst Magnolia’s belongings after her demise addressed to her mother with names, numbers and coordinates:

‘Angel,
I know you're scared, and I know you aren't sure what the right thing to do right now is, but you have to know that coming with me is making the right choice. The things we've been through together, the things you've shared with me, you can't just walk away from that. I won't let you. I know this wasn't meant to happen, I know you weren't meant to feel anything for me, but you can't deny the facts. What we did together can never be undone. Don't be scared of what you saw. Embrace it as you embraced me. Your kids will be okay without you. King will find another woman. You belong here. You belong to all of us. If you don't come back, you know I'm going to have to do something I don't want to do. I don't want to hurt you, Angel. So return home.
Dax x’

King visits to reassure her. A cult❓❓❓

Cliffhanger❗️❗️❗️

Too many unexplained events:
Kings’s reappearance
Magnolia’s death
The letter
Her mother’s murder
Aviana’s disappearance

Meh, this was ok. It's needs some better editing as ages and timelines weren't adding up. The FMC grated on my last nerve. I know the author was trying to show us how she matured between age 18 and 23, but honestly there wasn't much of a difference. She showed just how TDTL she was along with being dramatically hysterical as men like to call us. Unfortunately this character showed just how true that can be with all the flying off the hinge and screaming at anyone she could. As a woman I would have bitch slapped her. Hopefully the second book helps me like her a little more because atm? Yuck. Not much to Alarick's character honestly because the author hasn't given him much air time so to speak. But thing's that are obvious to idiots this MC club can't figure out. Sorry. A tad harsh I know. Something annoying is that everyone is hot in this book, and we've got the annoying FMC describing how hot everyone is even herself. Ok you narcissist. Anyone ugly can just die in this book basically. Extremely shallow which was disappointing. I don't need you to tell me how hot everyone is. I could freaking care less. How about some character development which this author completely left out in my opinion. Also, I've noticed in Bella Jewel's books that a lot of her FMCs become or stay friend's with women who've been intimate with the H. Not my type of book unfortunately. Though I will continue on as this ended on cliffy.

Just a quick note. The way the author wrote the h as a ten year old was unbelievable. No child that age thinks that way about the opposite sex unless they're being groomed or taught so. Her looking at seventeen year old Alarick and fan girling and thinking he'll never be just her step brother was icky. Along with how she wrote seventeen year old Alarick on how he looked at a ten year old. I'm sorry, but that's concerning. Telling a ten year old girl that she'll never be your sister, but something more was gross and the fault of the way the author wrote it. There's nothing cute or sweet about that. Just gives the ick factor. At the end Alarick says he always knew the h was his from the first time they met. Now you be the judge. He was seventeen when he met her as a ten year old...

Ohhhhhkayyyy looks like I’ll be binging whatever books in this series happen to be out. I stumbled upon this while crushing the KU section looking for a read. I’m not even sure what made me decide to check this out to be honest, maybe it was my inner bookaholic senses telling me I should one click. If that’s the case then I shall never doubt my senses again.

This book gave me what I was needing. Love Hate with suspense and mystery. Thrown in a little bit of a forbidden element and smack me with a I did not see that coming moment and I’m living for this.

This had me talking to the book. Like girl when you gonna ... and boy when you gonna ...

I loved both main characters. Sure they needed to be smacked upside the head a bit but that made this story that much more exciting if you ask me.

Alarick is everything you want in a book boyfriend. He has that bad boy element and the possessiveness ohhhh yesss. I love those alphas that are I will kill you if you touch what’s mine.

I’m hooked I need to see where this goes next. I love finding a series to binge.

On to the next book I go ... heck yes

It's an MC romances with step brother, second chances and secrets. It wasn't bad but I wasn't as invested in the couple or the plot as I had hoped. It was angst, but wasn't keeping it on my toes, making me want to try to listen faster somehow to find out how it all can be resolved. Will probebly listen/read more from Bella Jewel as I think I can really enjoy her works as she seem to be able to have both interesting characters and plot to keep it all going. But this one just didn't work for me as well as I had hoped.

Awful! Badly Written! & Immature

One of the worst examples of writing I've ever come across. The sentence structure is terrible. It's all so poorly worded, with numerous missing words, so many sentences don't even make sense. The character's are cringingly juvenile. The h cries on every page! Seriously, every page! He keeps saying she's the strongest women he knows??? Well he must know only pathetic, weak people because she cries on every page! Alarick is not an Alpha. The descriptions of all the men are exactly the same, they are all 'huge, bulging with muscle, handsome and God like beautiful', word for word descriptiin for every guy in this!

It isn't a real MC story either. This is exactly how the author herself explains the club in the book, at 12%, "The men were brought into the club by King, Alarick's father, right before he died and Alarick took over as prez. King explained everything to them including the hardships of club life then patched them in". That's it? He spoke to them then bam, they were members? Wow, so easy and quick and basic! An example of how basic this book is.

I finally pushed through by skimming but it's filled with annoying plotholes. Like the h just suddenly does a u-turn about how she now accepts Alarick was right in the past when her mum died. She trusts him and the other guys suddenly despite them still keeping things from her under the 'club buimess' rubbish and despite her knowing they are still lying to her, like the scene where she overhears them talking about her sister. It also didn't make sense to blame King but not his club. This also isn't a book, it's too short. Won't be returning to read the next one. Basic story, annoying characters, plotholes and badly written. It's so bad it made me think there's no way English was even this so called author's main language. Terrible!

Wish there was more to it...

This book is short. And on the last page you find out it’s only book one of a at least two.

I have loved this authors previous MC series. Especially her first one. This one felt undeveloped. With MC books, I love the group individuals that come out and play a huge role within that. You don’t really get that here so much. The characters are also so flat, under-developed and cliche. Even the way that Alrick spoke without pronouns throughout.

This book has the potential to be great. I wish authors didn’t focus so much on sequels and just made 1 book that was amazing instead of two so-so ones as I feel will be the case with this one. Readers would respect and enjoy the works so much more.

I have to say that this was a nice surprise. My heart broke for Briella. She lost everything and on top of it she is sick as well.
Now she went home to find her sister and that didn't go as well either, but at least she was home with her family. Even though that family was a bunch of bikers. She knew she was where she was meant to be.
Now all she needed to do was find her sister and sort out the trouble she has find herself in.

This book actually kept me intrigued from the start and I literally finished in one go. Now I need the next book to see where this road is taking Briella and Alarick.

Alarick tends to give people whiplash, or he just doesn't like others seeing his woman, “what do you think you’re doin’ walkin’ around wearin’ that,” he growls, low." I loved when he was all about reassuring his woman, "...and he grabs my chin, leaning down close. "You could have no fuckin' hair, and I'd think you were the most beautiful girl in this universe. Do you hear me?" I liked this book, I liked Alarick.

O. M. G. She’s back!!!!!

I have been dying for words from Ms Jewel now
And so glad I got this book!!!!! I love all her books
She just has a way of getting you sucked in and delivering a fantastic story!!!!

Flick and Briellas story is so well written and had me laughing and in tears at points.

Flick is not so forgiving when Briella shows up looking for her sister.

They both have been through a lot in the past.

So many secrets and mysteries are surrounding this series already.....and I can’t wait for more!!!!!

In terms of something fresh, this book was great. I read it in a day and I was always surprised however there were some things that turned me off.

The plot took absolute control over the characters. We did not really get a lot of depth or insight into the other characters which just made them one dimensional for me.

The romance between Alarick and Briella. I really did not like this romance it felt sort of predatory to be honest. Especially when you factor in the fact they met when she was 10 and he was 17 and jump to her at 18 and he at 25. I did cringe at that. He was an absolute ass the entire book and I really did not think they would work as a couple because there was so much hate that overtook the love. Also, there was very little tension that made you want them to be together in the end, where Alarick just switches from asshole to really supportive boyfriend in point three seconds. And this is because she tells him she has a brain tumour.
The sex scene between her at 18 and him at 25 really turned me off. All I saw was need, lust and man who had absolutely no business touching a girl so young. It didn’t help that she seemed so naive and in the previous scene was the reason behind her cracking her collarbone and breaking her wrist.

All in all, it was alright. I loved some parts of it and cringed at others. The writing could have had more depth in terms of world building, I did not realise that this was set in Australia until the author mentioned ‘bushland’. But I really thought adding in a murder mystery and a ticking clock for her brain tumour was really fresh and it did make me read this entire book in a day so there you go ;)

I started Alarick about an hour before I had to be somewhere and I did not want to put it down. There is so much potential in this series that I am super excited for. Alarick is the perfect starter for a new MC series.

First of all, the story is told between the past and the present, which sometimes can be difficult to follow but I thought Jewel did it right. I will admit that sometimes I felt like there might have been more of the past than needed but in the end, it set up everything the way it should have been.

I love the family vibe from this book but I'm hoping to get a bit more bad boys from the guys. Now that we are left hanging, I see some real potential with it.

Overall, I enjoyed Alarick and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a lighter side of a MC series.

This is the first in a new MC series. Alarick and Briella are estranged but grew up together when her mom married his dad. Alarick is now the president of the MC. His father is gone.

This definitely a friends to enemies to friends to lovers tale. Lots of baggage between these two. Alarick does not treat her well in the beginning. His walls eventually fall and they both admit what they mean to each other. Lots of MC action as well as world building. This does end on a minor cliffie. There is more to the story with these two.

I feel a need to finish this out. I will be reading the next book for sure!

Two broken souls reunite under circumstances that need really know about in Alarick the first in a new series from Jewels.
Alarick was the one for Briella, even as a child. She had a love for him, despite being step siblings and that love grew over the years. He had her back
Now in the present, their story tells a very different picture. It's grim and dark with a tiny little bit of hope. Briella is searching for answers and comes back to the life she left behind . Flittering from past to present, this story unfolds with plenty of twists and turns.
As the story unfolds and we learn the truth about their shared history. There is the sense that this story only beginning and it is. As they begin to clash and their passion starts to flair up again there is a moment that changes the course of the story and leaves us hanging.

There is a reason why I came back to a familiar name like Jewel. Her brand is trusted one to me and her stories apply to me as a reader. They are fast and provide a lot of depth in a short time. This series is the best of both worlds. I don't remember her MC's being this dark previously but then writing evolves over time and tastes changes. I enjoy a dark take on things and this book definitely delivered it. I can't wait to read the second part of their story.

Briella comes back to town to find her sister and tell her some important news. But being back, she will have to deal with her past and the man she loves. Alarick is the president of the King's Descendent MC and Briella's step-brother and he's not happy to have her back in town. Years ago, Briella's mother married Alarick's father and they became a family. But as they grew up in the club, Briella and Alarick had a bond which eventually led to them being together. Briella was annoying, she didn't listen to anyone and tried doing her own thing which led her nowhere. What happened in the past got her best friend taken and she still doesn't want to listen to logic. Alarick seemed like a good guy who just wants to protect his club and those he cares about which includes Briella. Alarick and Briella had plenty of back and forth between them until they slept together again. There is a mystery going on, with them trying to find her sister which could be linked to what happened in the past. I would have liked for the book to have dual points of view not just Briella's. I am intrigued about what's really going on and I can't wait to find out.

Briella has to help her sister, Magnolia. It's ok because she needs to share some bad news with her. So she comes back to King's Descendants MC, where she grew up. But her stepbrother, Alarick, and her stepsister, Sissy, are there, too.
She hasn't seen them for years, when she ran and left that life behind. And let's say they are not that happy to see she is back. Especially, Alarick. He is the president of the club now.
The book is split into now and then moments. And we can see that Briella and Alarick's relationship was pretty special five years ago. But that was before.
As usual, a book full of action, steamy scenes and bikers. I absolutely adore Bella Jewel's book. If you are not sure about what to read, pick one of her books. She never disappoints.

Well… this book started out interesting… but, for me, things got from 😃😊👍🏻 to 🤨🥴😖👎🏻 pretty fast. And then {als klap op de vuurpijl}… a freakin' cliffhanger! 🤬🤢 So it looks like I have to read 2 books to find out ??!!
And I really hope I can stand Briella's constant stupidity! 🥴 Hard to believe that anybody can be so ridiculously stupid!! Her actions are not of a girl who grew up in the MC world! Almost looks like when Alarick, or somebody, says "don’t do it!!" that it guarantees that Briella does exactly that! 😳🙄
Plus… I have NO idea why Alarick/Flick even likes Briella? They are step brother and sister… but how they became a couple, is still not clear to me. The book is full of flashback to their childhood and somewhere along the way they are suddenly fucking each other…. and tadaaa... once-in-a-lifetime love? 😳 How did that happen? Maybe book #2 will also provide more clarity there.
Continuing Flick with mix feelings… {en vrees met grote vreze...}

WOW! Alarick was that type of story that I can't stop devouring no matter how enraged I am at the actions of the hero or even the heroine, but it is what it is. Breilla, Magnoia (Breilla's sister), and their mother moved in with King, the President of the King's Descendants MC. King had two older kids of his own, one is Alarick, and he & Breilla became close as friends, then fell in love, until too many things happened with the MC, and Breilla ran in fear after a big tragedy. Fast forward 5 years, and she's back to find her sister (who opted to stay), while Alarick is now the President, and not happy at all seeing her back, so he's a total douchebag for some time to her, which had me dying to throat punch him more than once. Yeah, Breilla definitely made some emotional moves as a teenager, but I attribute that to her age, plus she was 10 before experiencing MC life. Alarick isn't inclined to help her, so she goes at it alone, until he has no choice since the way she's doing it could bring down bad crap on the MC. There are so many twists that I think I dropped more f-bombs than the bikers, and while their story isn't finished, the cliffy wasn't as big as it could have been (but I'm still dying inside for April), so buckle up & hit that one click button to ride! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
