I received a copy of this title via NetGalley. It does not impact my review.

Even though it’s been many years since I’ve read Redeeming Love, it’s a story that has stayed with me. I still find myself thinking about it from time to time and comparing other books to it. I was looking for a new daily devotional when I came across A Path to Redeeming Love and it felt like an obvious choice.

I usually prefer devotionals that involve a little more study – scriptures to look up, questions to answer, etc. While this devotional didn’t have as much as that, it was longer than a lot of other one verse/one page ones I’ve tried and I liked that. Each day starts with an excerpt from Redeeming Love, which is then analyzed in respect to the theme of the day’s lesson. It goes deeper than the book, though, and the lesson digs into several passages of scripture. The verses are all included in the text, but I also liked to look them up separately for more context. Each day ends with a small assignment – memorize a verse, meditate/pray on a subject, reach out to someone who has been an important part of your spiritual journey, etc.

I really enjoyed the devotional. I loved the passages of Redeeming Love and it has really made me want to re-read the book. While the story is obviously a romance, it’s also a parable of God’s love. Rivers mentions that she has received many responses from readers about how they wish they could find a man to love them like Michael loves Angel and she tells them that they can. The selfless, sacrificial way he loves her is the same way that God loves us. I found the daily installments easy to read and understand and often relatable. I definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for new devotional, especially if you were a fan of the book. I’m going to be buying a copy of the devotional for my mother, who is the one who introduced me to Redeeming Love.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers was the first Christian fiction book I've read and I think I have read it at least three times. The brokenness of Angel was raw and heartbreaking and road to redemption so well written. So I was very excited to see a devotional based on this novel.

This devotional reminded me again how much I loved this novel. Each of the themes build on each other and also went deeper each day - almost the same way God will work - gentle pushes which gets deeper and deeper as you grow closer to Him and start the healing process.

The devotional was really good. Each day started with a small excerpt from the story, with very relevant scripture and thoughts about that excerpt. And at the end some questions to think about. The author also got real from her own life which I appreciated, because we all have experienced some of these themes in our own lives: Rejected, Resigned, Rescued, Redeemed, Reconciled, Restored.

If you have read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers and loved it, you would definitely love this devotional. If you still need to read Redeeming love, why wait - read it now and do the devotional straight after.

When I read Redeeming Love the first time (November 1991), I remember wishing I could write something as beautiful and life-changing. A Path to Redeeming Love is a wonderful companion piece to the novel. While fans of the novel may enjoy it the most, I believe even those unfamiliar with the story of Angel and Michael will be moved by these devotional entries. There is a lot of depth and Scriptural truth in every entry. I will return to this devotional again. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an early look at the book. The thoughts are completely my own.

This is a devotional and companion to the novel, Redeeming Love, one of my all time favorite books and the basis for a movie coming out in 2021. Redeeming Love is based on the Book of Hosea in the Bible, and shows how God used Hosea to reach out to Gomer, his unfaithful wife, and show her his unconditional love, as God loves us. The forty day devotional is an uplifting and wonderful reminder of how God's love redeems us regardless of our imperfect sinful self. The author takes scenes from the novel and goes further with an explanation and application for our life. There are many great life lessons in the book with the main theme of how His love transforms us when we return His love and love others as He loves us. After reading the devotional, I realize that I need to go back and read the novel and to get the full benefit from the devotional, I recommend reading the novel first.

I was so grateful that I got to review this. My relationship with FR books go way back. Her writing, her stories, and her examples of God’s mercy and grace are forever apart of me She played a huge part in my foundational understanding of the relationship that God wants with me.
I grew up in L.A. and that might sound exciting but trust me, it wasn’t. I’ll only say that I had parents that knew each other only weeks and “had” to get married because abortion clinic were illegal at the time. My father is and was emotionally unavailable and my mother was and is still an addict. My parents are not Christians.
My story was so similar to Redeeming Love, and I cried a lot while reading it. It was hard to read at times, but I couldn’t stop.
That’s why this devotional means so much to me. It felt like a healthy support group. A group that knew my ugly past and on going struggles. No judgement only peaceful reflection. A redirect, refocus on how God still longs for me to walk with Him.
I would suggest you read Redeeming Love, but if you haven’t, I still think you’ll understand everything being shared. I loved the scripture and meditation part at the end of each day.
If you aren’t use to setting time aside for God then this is a perfect starting point. You will get so much out of it if you’re willing.
I highly recommend this. It will offer safety and it will draw you out of your struggles into the light.
I’m not going to say anymore. I’m leaving part of the intro here below. I hope you love this devotional as much as I did.

This is just a part of it.....

“He is faithful, trustworthy, and the lover of our souls, offering us a marriage consummated by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When we say yes to Jesus, we are in Christ, sealed and secure no matter what happens. He will never lose us.... The devotions are grounded in Scripture because we want to continually point you back to God’s Word. It is our best source of truth about what God is really like and how He wants to interact with His people. We too often feel rejected, believing no one can love us for who we are.......Our past hurts, along with a distorted understanding of God, can hold us back from fully embracing His love and believing that He can redeem the hard things in our lives. Our prayer is that when you finish reading this book, you’ll be able to see more clearly who God is and how He is calling you to be restored in Him.”

A beautifully written 40 day devotional that follows the story of Redeeming Love with insights from scripture. Having just reread that novel this summer, it was delightful to dig deeper into the messages of redemption, reconciliation and restoration. God is with us, God is for us, and God loves us more that we can ever imagine.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy to review. This book releases October 13, 2020.

If you loved the book, then you will love how Francine uses this book to point out areas of Angel’s life that she (Angel) felt that were beyond God’s reach.

There maybe things in your life where, one you are not ready to surrender to God and/or two it’s so much that has happened and you feel certain that God can not reach you or would be willing to reach for you while you’re knee-deep in hurt, rejection, pain and just simply broken.

Francine talks of being rejected, resigned, rescued, redeemed, reconciled and restored in God’s truth, His redeeming love.

Such a joy to read and of course, with this new insight of God’s redeeming love, it makes me want to re-read the book and fall in love with it even more.

This devotional is based on the novel "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. Having said that, you don't need to read the book beforehand to understand it and enjoy it. It is a 40 day plan. The writer not only draws on the novel but also on her personal experiences and especially on passages from the Bible. Topics like grace, redemption, and forgiveness are mentioned. The book is like a small journey in a person's life, towards Jesus and his redeeming love. At the end of each chapter there are questions and quotes that make you ponder.
I would recommend that this devotional be translated into Spanish. Since it is a devotional that will instill in the person a strong passion to know God and experience his Redeeming Love.

If you are a fan of Francine Rivers’ classic and beloved Christian novel Redeeming Love, what better way to revisit this memorable story than through a 40 Day Devotional!

It’s been five years since I read this unforgettable novel, so it was great to revisit the characters and most importantly, the powerful message of this book–how God’s love can redeem us, no matter what we’ve done. Each day’s entry begins with an excerpt from the book, then the author examines that particular theme represented in that passage and connects it to the life of the reader. Most devotionals only have about a couple paragraphs of reading, but what I loved about this one is that it offers more like 4-5 pages of insight each day. You truly feel like you are studying that day’s theme and scriptures, not just getting a tiny taste of them–though each section doesn’t take long to read at all.

By reading the fictional excerpts, we are drawn into the heart and emotion of the story; and then through the daily readings we are able to connect that fiction to the facts of our personal lives. Story is a powerful thing, and this devotional is a perfect example of what we can learn through fiction.

If you have experienced deep hurts in your life, or ever struggle to believe that God truly loves you, get a copy of this devotional (and the novel, if you’ve never read it!). You will be blessed and uplifted by the truth of God’s Word and these reminders of God’s redeeming love–the kind of love that chases us down, fights to rescue us, and is willing to welcome us home no matter how far we have wandered!

5/5 Stars for this beautiful devotional! It is the perfect gift for yourself, or birthday or Christmas gift for a loved one!

A Path to Redeeming Love is a beautifully written 40 day devotional. It takes a small portion of the book, Redeeming Love for each day and elaborates on it. Before reading, I could not imagine how this would work. But it is incredible. I felt the author speaking and reassuring me over and over of God’s love and how He never leaves us and how His plan is the best - always. I loved remembering the book, Redeeming Love and how the story progressed as each lesson was presented. I really think reading the Redeeming Love first would be the best before going through this devotional. But if you read this first, you will certainly want to go back and read the book though. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers not long after it was released years ago. Like most of her books, it reached my heart and soul. I was excited to get a copy of A Path to Redeeming Love based on the book, written by Rivers along with Karin Stock Buursma.

A Path to Redeeming Love is a 40-Day devotional. Each day features an excerpt from the book along with a newly written reading based on that portion of the book and Scripture. In the introduction, Rivers said that they made sure each reading was grounded in Scripture. I also liked that she shared a bit of how this story came to be in the introduction. Each day's reading concludes with something to think about or do to help the message stick in the reader's heart.

I like A Path to Redeeming Love. I want to re-read the original book again, then go through the devotional again, and I think it will all mean even more to me. Still, I remembered the story in bits and pieces through the devotional. I liked how they relate Scripture to life to today. I felt like everything was relevant and it was written in such a way that it was easy to relate to and understand. I am sure it would be an encouraging devotional for those who have read the book. It further drives home the basic themes of God rescuing those of us who have been rejected and redeeming and restoring all of us who were lost and broken. To me, it is clear that much prayer and reflection went in to this project and it shows in the quality of the readings.

I received an advanced digital copy and then purchased a physical copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.

I've read Redeeming Love multiple times, but this was sadly very disappointing. If you've never read Redeeming Love, it will prove to be incredibly confusing. All 40 devotionals begin with a *very* small snippet of the book. Characters are mentioned once or twice in the devotionals, with no explanation or background, and the reader has no idea who they are or where they came from. There isn't enough from Redeeming Love for it to all make sense, and so the logical conclusion is that this is NOT meant to stand-alone... It's assumed that every single reader has read Redeeming Love and remembers it *very* well. (Not a good assumption to make, by the way.)

At the same time, the devotional ruins the book itself for those who are brand new to the story. Toward the end, the devotional shares brief excerpts that give away major plot points. Although it is still an overview and doesn't share every detail of the story, it would absolutely take away so much of the enjoyment of reading Redeeming Love for the first time. You'll know the major plot points, even though you won't know why they happened, who the people are, or how it's all connected.

Do NOT read this if you haven't read Redeeming Love. Instead, pick the book up first and come back to the devotional later.

Redeeming Love, a historical fiction book based on the Biblical account of Hosea is one of my all-time favorites (I now have it on my list to re-read!), and this 6-week devotional weaves snippets of the story with Scripture verses and personal essays from Francine Rivers. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed journaling alongside each daily reflection on themes of rejection, resignation, rescue, redemption, reconciliation, and restoration. A beautiful reminder of God’s unconditional love for us.

“A Path to Redeeming Love” is a forty day devotional book by Francine Rivers and Karen Stock Buursma. I was excited to read this book asI had just finished a reread of the amazing allegorical “Redeeming Love” after first reading it fourteen years previously. This wonderful book is a retelling of the biblical story of Job set in California during the gold rush.

Looking forward to the movie that will release in 2021, this devotional book and separate companion bible study will both be out October 13, 2020. This book is divided into the following categories: Rejected, resigned, rescued, redeemed, reconciled, and restored. Each day follows a snippet of the “Redeeming Love” story as Angel/Sarah progresses through her story under one of these categories and gives a short applicable lesson with bible verses. We start with longing for approval where Sarah is a child seeking her absentee father’s approval with the anecdote being that only God’s approval is important because He made us. We almost poetically end with Sarah/Angel’s final acceptance of God, Michael Hosea, her husband and her worthiness despite all the hardships and mistakes she made in her life. I recommend trying to read one daily devotional a day or at most two a day if a day is missed as each devotion is separate but progresses through Angel’s story. It would not be a book to skip around based on topics and more enjoyment would come after reading the novel or completing a reread to refresh the mind of all the details in the story.

I absolutely recommend this book with a four out of five star rating and want to thank WaterBrook &Multnomah Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with a review copy. This means a lot since this is the first review book and review that i have made in several years.

As a fan of Redeeming Love, I was beyond excited to start this 40-day devotional. Inviting my mom to join me on the journey, each night after cleaning the kitchen, I would read the day's passage aloud before discussing the contents together. Our time reading this devotion was the highlight of my day. Reading parts of Redeeming Love and talking about the topics of rejection, resignation, rescue, redemption, reconciliation, and restoration with my mom were eye-opening and encouraging. Leaning on one another, we prayed together, were candid with one another, and shared more than we ever have about our spiritual lives.

Split into six parts, The Path to Redeeming Love takes a section out of the novel to set the stage before bringing Scripture alive with each day's subject matter. While I do wish there were more pages to each entry, the end questions gives readers time to reflect on what they have read and take the study further on their own.

One of my favorite parts of this devotional was the space in-between each part when Francine Rivers shared testimony from her and her family's lives. During these introduction pages, I felt spiritually connected to Francine Rivers. Hearing the testimonies and how they correlate with Angel’s story also brought the material to life. It was real, and Francine’s input made the devotional even more relatable and current.

The Path to Redeeming Love is the perfect addition for fans of the novel. While thousands of lives have been transformed after reading Angel’s story, this devotional brings a deeper understanding of what the Bible says about the journey from feeling rejected to being restored. Get ready to be inspired, draw closer to the Father, and fall in love with Redeeming Love all over again!

I am not someone who normally does devotionals. I listen to the Bible on the Youversion App and listen to a Bible in a Year plan. I've occasionally done devotionals on the App, but I prefer to listen to the straight Word of God.

However, this book intrigued me. A friend of mine recently posted about Redeeming Love, the novel by Francine Rivers, and attributed it to her love of Historical Christian Romance. When I saw this as an option for review, I decided to take a chance on it.

It is a beautifully written and powerful 40-day devotional about how broken we are as humans and how powerful the redeeming love of God is. Each day begins with an excerpt of the book Redeeming Love. Personally, I have not read the novel, but I am now intrigued. I recently used a credit on Audible to get the audiobook.

Each day focuses on life changing ideals such as "Learning to Surrender," "A God who Fights for Us," "Listening to the Right Voice," "Learning What Love Is," "Building Faith Through Prayer," "The Fruit of Suffering," "Seeing Jesus," "Making Sense of the Past," and "Freedom in Forgiveness." These truths, and more, are explored through the narrative of Redeeming Love and the truth of the Bible mixed with experiences and prose by the authors.

A beautiful read and reflection based in Biblical Truth, A Path to Redeeming Love reveals the truth about agape love: the highest form of love.

Redeeming Love was my hook into Inspirational fiction, and I devoured it a as a new Christian. There were so many parallel truths to Scripture that I found myself often thinking about the power of the message it conveyed. Now, over twenty years later, I still think about the beauty of the story and am delighted that there’s now a companion devotional to guide the six main themes so eloquently penned in this classic. I love that the entries are shared directly from Francine Rivers’s heart as they share so much insight. Designed as a forty-day devotional, I couldn’t put it down in my first read through. Now, I am enjoying the slower pace of savoring each day, one at a time. Highly recommended for all fans of Redeeming Love, old and new alike!

I am apparently one of the few people who hasn't read it yet but, over and over, I've read glowing reviews of Redeeming Love, the historical fiction novel written by Francine Rivers in 1991. When I saw a chance to review a devotional devoted to this book, I immediately applied for the launch team. In A Path to Redeeming Love, Rivers digs deeper into this story and shares her thoughts about the love story of Homer and Gomez that is found in the Old Testament. Redeeming Love is inspired by the Book of Hosea and its central theme is the redeeming love of God towards sinners.

A Path to Redeeming Love has forty devotions divided into six sections and each devotion starts with a scene from Redeeming Love. These snippets show Sarah/Angel's story as she goes from Rejected, Resigned, Rescued, Redeemed, Reconciled, and finally, Restored. Rivers shares appropriate scripture as she relates how God has worked in her own life and we readers are allowed to reflect how our Heavenly Father has done the same for us. Our circumstances may not be as startling as Angel's but we all have been the benefactors of God's love. Each devotion concludes with a question that offers further guidance.

This wonderful devotional provides the chance to study God's Word and deepen our understanding. If you are looking for a new resource to improve your own faith journey, you will certainly want a copy of A Path to Redeeming Love. And yes, I plan to read the novel that started it all!

I received a complimentary e-copy through NetGalley but I wasn't required to write a favorable review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.

“I’d been writing love stories for almost ten years and realized how much deeper God’s love is for us than what we read in romance novels…I prayed readers would see the difference between what I had been writing about (eros, or sensual love) and what real love looks like–passionate, sacrificial, unchanging, and eternal…My writing became an open window to my personal struggles and how God loves us.”

“A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” This verse centers on the practical benefits of relationships–help, heat, and hedge of protection. “Two people can be reconciled when they enter a love triangle: with God at the top and the two individuals at the bottom points. As we draw closer to God, we naturally draw closer to one another.”

“Rejection becomes an infection” if untreated. Rejection weighs us in the balance and finds us insufficient. “We can’t judge God by what we know of humans…We’re no longer judged by what we’ve done but by whom we trust…The deepest truth about us is that we are created by God…Everything changes when we see Jesus for who He really is…When we’re…knee-deep in our own sin…His grace is greater than we can imagine.”

“Most of us want to deal with our mess [by] denying we are a mess…We spend so much time and effort trying to save our lives” when Jesus has already done it! “We tend to ask, ‘Why?’ rather than ‘How can this experience strengthen and prepare me for what lies ahead?’...We might have a picture of God leading us out of the bad things that held us captive. But do we think much about what He is leading us into? Redemption is not just the absence of slavery;” it’s the presence of our Savior.

“When we’ve been hurt by other people, we might see relationships as potential pain. We begin to think of isolation and independence as ideal. But that is not what God considers best for us. As messy and painful as relationships can be, they also bring us life. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) If you find yourself isolated, withdrawing because of your own insecurities or hurts, remember that God has created us to need other people.”

Redeeming Love used to be a favorite for me. Recently the movie and some posts have come out that have me really thinking about this read as a christian married woman. Redeeming Love is a captivating read but romance reads are dangerous for me and for other married woman. It can cause lustful and discontentment thoughts in our marriage.

If you would have asked me a year ago if this was a favorite and if I planned on watching the movie I would have said yes but now my answer is a little different. I would say I love this book but to have caution while reading and to be aware of the trigger warnings. I would also highly recommend reading this devotional as you read the book so you can have scripture encouraging you versus the fictional read. This is a 40 day devotional that starts with an excerpt from the book so you could skip the book altogether if you really wanted. After that there is a short devotional with scripture and ends with a few questions to help you reflect and occasionally a verse to help memorize if you are struggling with the topic talked about that day.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers was a title I read in my teen years that made me believe that Christian romance could be beautiful! It's a title that I've recommended over and over and over again throughout the years and have been known to re-read. Unfortunately, I haven't read it recently and will need to pick it up again someday soon.

A Path to Redeeming Love felt like getting to know old friends on an even deeper intimate level. It is a beautiful journey of hope, encouragement, self-worth that will have you reforming your reflection of self as it relates to not just the story, but God's love for humanity. I will be ordering a copy of this book as it is so beautifully written and connects the reader to the elements of Hosea in a relatable and personal way. I appreciated the reflection points and opportunities to make valuable lessons to heart.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this title via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Through six R’s, from REJECTED, RESIGNED, RESCUED, REDEEMED, RECONCILED, and RESTORED, Francis Rivers delivers strong, sound, divine advice for those looking for healing. In each chapter of the forty days, she provides a story related to one of the R’s. Following with God’s truth, she then ends with a scripture for you to look up. The chapters are short, yet they provide profound words of wisdom.
The devotions start with a scene from her book, “Redeeming Love”, tracing Angel’s journey from despair and rejection to rescue, redemption, and ultimately full restoration.” This is one book we all need to keep on our shelves.

Thank you to NetGalley and Francine Rivers for sending me this ARC of A Path to Redeeming Love.

Redeeming Love has long since been one of my absolute favorite books. I discovered this book in high school and since then, have read it about once a year. I've recommended it to countless friends and family. My friends and I have always dreamed about finding our own Michael Hosea. This book really helped me connect with God's love and protectiveness.

A Path to Redeeming Love: A Forty-Day Devotional was an amazing companion to Francine Rivers' novel. These devotionals were short and quick but impactful - with scriptures and excerpts from the book. The devotionals are beautifully written and wise. Highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Francine Rivers for this opportunity!

A sweet devotional to accompany the amazing book Redeeming Love. Francine Rivers is one of my favourite christian authors. This devotional features 40 short chapters on themes we encounter in our lives, just as the characters in Redeeming Love do. Each chapter contains snippets from the book on the theme, as well as scripture and questions to journal. Some of the themes include; rejection, sacrficial love, prayer, seeing Jesus, fearing judgement and learning to love (to name a few). It could be read as a stand alone, although I think it is better aimed at the many fans of Redeeming Love. I enjoyed this book. **I was given an early copy for an honest review.
