I was so grateful that I got to review this. My relationship with FR books go way back. Her writing, her stories, and her examples of God’s mercy and grace are forever apart of me She played a huge part in my foundational understanding of the relationship that God wants with me.
I grew up in L.A. and that might sound exciting but trust me, it wasn’t. I’ll only say that I had parents that knew each other only weeks and “had” to get married because abortion clinic were illegal at the time. My father is and was emotionally unavailable and my mother was and is still an addict. My parents are not Christians.
My story was so similar to Redeeming Love, and I cried a lot while reading it. It was hard to read at times, but I couldn’t stop.
That’s why this devotional means so much to me. It felt like a healthy support group. A group that knew my ugly past and on going struggles. No judgement only peaceful reflection. A redirect, refocus on how God still longs for me to walk with Him.
I would suggest you read Redeeming Love, but if you haven’t, I still think you’ll understand everything being shared. I loved the scripture and meditation part at the end of each day.
If you aren’t use to setting time aside for God then this is a perfect starting point. You will get so much out of it if you’re willing.
I highly recommend this. It will offer safety and it will draw you out of your struggles into the light.
I’m not going to say anymore. I’m leaving part of the intro here below. I hope you love this devotional as much as I did.
This is just a part of it.....
“He is faithful, trustworthy, and the lover of our souls, offering us a marriage consummated by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When we say yes to Jesus, we are in Christ, sealed and secure no matter what happens. He will never lose us.... The devotions are grounded in Scripture because we want to continually point you back to God’s Word. It is our best source of truth about what God is really like and how He wants to interact with His people. We too often feel rejected, believing no one can love us for who we are.......Our past hurts, along with a distorted understanding of God, can hold us back from fully embracing His love and believing that He can redeem the hard things in our lives. Our prayer is that when you finish reading this book, you’ll be able to see more clearly who God is and how He is calling you to be restored in Him.”
