This title illustrates an unapologetic, raw insight into the exotic dancer lifestyle. The P-Valley & Players Club vibes run rampant throughout this book. With a focus on the hustle of making money in an often harsh & unforgiving world, the book delves into the strength & resilience required to survive & thrive in such a high-stakes environment. The mantra "Make that money, don’t let it make you" echoes throughout, underscoring the internal conflict many dancers face: how to stay true to yourself while navigating a world that constantly tests your limits.
What the book does well is highlight the complexities of this lifestyle, not just as a means to an end but as a potential trap where personal identity & self-worth can easily get lost in the pursuit of financial success. Myree's 10 seperate narratives challenge readers to question whether the ends justify the means. The tension between survival & self-preservation is ever-present, forcing the characters (& by extension, the reader) to grapple with the cost of success.
Ultimately, The Bottom Line offers an engaging & thought-provoking look at a world that is often misunderstood, criticized & sensationalized. It leaves you questioning: In the race to make it, can you keep your soul intact?
SN: I wanted TIP to tell us about the time she fell off the pole & almost died. But, she didn't share. So, I can't lie & say I'm not disappointed that she didn't. Maybe next book?
I need another book from her now. This book was an amazing eye opener in to the striper world. I also agree strippers are strong people. This book reminds you that they people too with a story to tell. And the stories are amazing!
