These were just the right sort of short mystery to keep me company when I was tired and getting things done.

I nicknamed these mysteries "Diary of a Wimpy Priest". Five series of Father Baldi solving crimes in Dublin and Ireland. Well, not really "solving"; more like reading the signs. Quite enjoyable tightly wrapped mysteries featuring a plethora of enthusiastic Irish actors. Baldi and his sidekick Tina have a little emotional tension as Paolo is always attempting to reconcile the spirit and the flesh. Thankfully the tension is light and enhances rather than distracts from the plots. For me the highlight is Rynne, Tina's boss. He evolves from grumpy authoritarian spoilsport to witty charmer, participating in the adventures.

Excellent listen for days of commuting. Great production and cast. My mid-western brain struggled with some of the accents but soon became accustomed. The mysteries themselves are all under an hour so it was easy to remember the plots and characters.

Easy to listen to, it’s not that hard to guess whodunnit in most of these. But they are a good length for listening to whilst cooking.
