Rate this book
The Hunter team is shocked by the return of Raphael Herrera, the former drug trafficker presumed to have been killed on Tehua Island. Can he be trusted, or has he made a deal with Stargazer agents? But those concerns are set aside when word comes of Predator activity in Central America!

In the jungles of Belize, Cartel soldiers are being wiped out attempting to smuggle heroin into the US. The Hunters follow the trail of bodies, while a newly arrived team of Russians begin their own hunt for the Predators. An unexpected player from Dark Horse's very first Predator series watches from the shadows . . . providing the Hunters with an advantage amongst the violence and bloodshed.

Writer Chris Warner (the artist from the original Predator comics from 1989) teams with artist Brian Thies ( Life and Death , Star Legacy )!

These should be so much better than they actually are. Team up a bunch of survivors from other Predator comics and have then hunt down Predators. But it never really comes together like it should. There's nothing more to the plot than having the team come together and then wait until the last issue to actually engage with the Predators. I did like that Warner brought back some characters from the very first two Predator stories.

This is the first time the whole story is in print. Due to the pandemic, Dark Horse never published the last 2 single issues.

Received a review copy from Dark Horse and Edelweiss. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.

A great way to end Dark Horse’s Predator series.
We’re back to the jungle with some familiar faces including a couple of surprises from the early series.
There was even a couple of moments where I thought the story was retreading the Bad Blood theme.
Although this series is full of little nods - all the way back to Concrete Jungle from back in 1989 - it’s a lot more than a stroll through greatest hits. There is some great action and the stakes felt high enough that I worried for the survival of the main characters. Well worth reading. Interested to see the direction that Marvel takes the Yautja

This was pretty aggressively fine. Pretty inoffensive to a Predator fan, but just not quite what I would like. The art was pretty good and the action was easy enough to follow, it might have been too long since I've read the first two volumes, but the characters here were a little dull.
It was neat having John Schaefer show back up, I haven't seen that guy since the old Predator Omnibus books. His character has changed since then, he says that in this volume and that's okay, people grow. However, didn't this guy give up looking for his brother Dutch? Like, I thought in the Cold War comic he learned that Dutch had been disappeared? But that's fine, I don't remember the Russian girl he was involved with at all either.
This series has really made me want to go back to the old Dark Horse Ombinus comics, and maybe I'll do just that after my current reading list.

[My reviews are generally for me/my memory and can therefore contain spoilers. They're typically not here to provide you with a reason to read or not read something.]

Note: I read this via the second massive omnibus (on Kindle). The plan is to review each trade/mini-series/whatever as I finish them, rather than the whole omnibus or every single issue.

Again, finishing up this second omnibus doing the same thing over and over again.

I really enjoyed the art in this one. The thicker lines and coloring choices worked well.

Schaeffer is back again. Yawn.

Now that I've finished these, I'm tackling all of the AvP comics. I'm hoping those end up having more of what I'm looking for, since the AvP movies have the team-up vibe that I'm wanting to see more of.

This had potential to be even better. Dutch's brother shows up, man. But that standard pattern of issues of build up and then one quick showdown rears its ugly head once again. I get it. Its a classic because it works, but as this was pretty much the Dark Horse Grande Finale I kind of hoped for something extra.

Still very solid. Enjoyed it just fine. Was hoping for that extra oomph, is all.
