Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)

Forever Takes a While is book #5 in the Summer Lake series. Each book can be read as a standalone but they are all inter-connected. This one is Cassie and Colt's story. Theirs is a second chance romance. Ten years ago they were each headed in different directions. Cassie was determined to be a doctor and went off to start her journey. Colt never wanted to leave Summer Lake and Cassie knew that and he is now a deputy in the town. All his friends and family were here as was his job.

They really loved each other and never stopped. Now Cassie is back in Summer Lake and is a small town doctor. Colt wants to rekindle things with her but she thinks he has moved on. It is really something to watch them dance around each other looking for their forever. In his job Colt comes in contact with Sophie, a very young child who is living a life no child should have to live. She makes quite an impression on both Colt and Cassie and also you the reader. Throughout their story there will be some laughs but also many tears. I loved every minute of this book and didn't want it to end.

Such a beautiful story.

Another story that rips your heart. Having worked in the Foster Care system for years, I am unfortunately aware of so many Sophies. Unfortunately, too many do not have such a wonderful ending. I was so pleased with the final chapter here. I hope that maybe, even through another couple's story, we will be gifted with an update to Sophie's story. Another homerun by such a talented author.

Cassie and Colt

It was really great that they got back together after being apart for so many years. Took awhile for them to talk and get things worked out but it all came together eventually. Especially since one was a deputy and the other a doctor, am glad that things did work out not just for them but for little Sophie as well.

Another really great read in this series. Colt has appeared in several other books as the police officer who has helped many. Now seeing him back with the one woman he thought he could never have. Especially once she left Summer Lake.
A really sweet story.

Another great book by SJ McCoy. I have read all the books by the author but felt this book had a more personal storyline. I always wondered what Cassie and Colt's story was. I was definitely not disappointed. It was great to see some old friends make appearances again especially some of the original Summer Lake gang. I think SJ is going to have to provide a family tree soon with the series.
This book definitely had a different feel to the others, and this was not a bad thing. The sub plot of Sophie was heartbreaking and wonderful at the same time. It was told with such care and detail to what the "system" must be for abandoned children. SJ highlighted the issue with empathy and understanding.
Without spoiling the plot I would love to see how Sophie is getting on in future books.
I am hoping Austin and Amber get their story soon.
Thank you again SJ for a wonderful book. Bravo!

This is one of my favorite books in the series. Colt and Cassie have gone through so much to finally find their way back together. I was sad to hear that they may have found their way back earlier if it wasn’t for someone in Colt’s life. I think they both needed their time to mature and, Cassie to get her college and residency completed. They both are such giving and caring individuals. There is a little girl named Sophie that plays a big part in their life. My heart broke for her. No one should ever treat their daughter the way she was treated. I loved meeting up with many of the characters from previous books. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.

Another great story in this series. I really enjoyed Cassie and Colt’s story and seeing things turn around as well as them finally taking and clearing the air, to try again. Sophie’s story just broke my heart, but I was glad that with Kelly’s help that it ended up in a very good place for Sophie, she definitely deserves a good life. Of course, I have to mention that it was great to see our friends again and especially with Peter and his ‘fixer’ hat on and I always love seeing Joe and especially Gramps. I also thought Ivan’s backpack project was a very touching part of this story as well. I’m wondering whose story we’ll see next.

Always enjoy my visits back to Summer Lake. This time its Deputy Sheriff Colt and Dr. Cassie teenage lovers who drifted apart. Trying to avoid each other didn't work out until it did. As the reconnect and decide "Forever takes awhile. Loved visiting with our old friends Pete, Holly, Emma, Michael, Laura and Smoke just to name a few. Absolutely adored Sofia no spoilers but you will love her too. Thanks for another great book SJ. Question: is this the first book from Summer Lake where Ben ♡ wasn't mentioned? 🤣

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Cassie always knew what her path would be.
Colt always knew what his path would be.
They thought that even though they had different paths, it would still lead to each other.
After 10 years, Cassie is back.
Will their paths still keep them apart ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is the 5th book in this awesome series and is Cassie and Colt’s story. Having been away from Summer Lake for 10 years Cassie has returned, and Colt is battling to understand why she refuses to talk to him. No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written tale which is so much more than a 2nd chance love story, and I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend for all readers.

This story is not just a love rekindled, but a love that heals! Colt and Cassie not only have a forever love for each other, but love for a girl who just needs a chance. SJ has shed a light on Children's Services and it has touched my heart. 💗 I love all of SJ's books, but Colt and Cassie's story hits close to home. Plus we get to visit with some old friends from Summer Lake that have been deeply missed.

Normally I skip second chance stories, but I'm glad I gave this one a chance! I loved it. It's not at all what you expect. And not only Cassie and Colt got their second chance, Sophie's got hers as well.

We also catch up with the old Summerlake gang!

I know Sophie's story isn't one of a kind..

I hope this book will inspire people to at least think about foster care!

Loved this book, two interesting, loveable characters who take advantage of their second chance. In this book we are also introduced to a third character, a young girl, Sophie. Interesting twist and a contemporary issue regarding kids in foster care. Added an extra dimension to their love story, loved their happily ever after 💕

😭😂😭😂 have tissues ready for this one! It’s a great story. Cassie and Colt should be together. They seemed to take the long way. Glad we were able to meet up with some of the other friends and see how they were doing. And Sophie! So glad her luck changed!
