Emanuela and Finn are perfect. I love the fact that they were an interracial couple and not once did the story have any drama concerning that. He was a disabled hero with a heart of gold and full of love for her. She was a very smart, beautiful attractive heroine who was a scientist! I love that these were two innovative people, who wouldn’t let distance or work stop them from being together.

As always Lynn brings real life issues to the page with grace and beauty. She paints pictures with scenes and the details are always on point. I miss Lynn Turner’s words immensely in the bookverse. I hope to see her come back soon. Her talent is missed.

This is a tough book to rate, folks. It has a ton of GREAT stuff going for it. So, I suppose I’ll just start there. Here’s what I loved:

1. I love that this is a multicultural romance, and a romance with a disabled hero, and neither the fact that it’s a multicultural romance or the fact that the hero’s disabled is a conflict in the story. That was refreshing.

2. This is a well-written story. The descriptions of New Orleans were so vivid I felt like I was there, sitting on a balcony, eating a beignet while watching these characters romp through the city.

3. The plot was interesting. You don’t see too many romances set in the world of medical device development. It was pretty cool.

But my reading experience wasn’t all puppies, kittens, and unicorns pooping rainbows. Here’s what irked me a little:

1. There wasn’t really much of a conflict in the story. I didn’t really see any good reason why Finn and Emmi shouldn’t be together right from the beginning.

2. Instalove. I tolerate instalove in paranormal romance, especially shifter romance. But in regular contemporary romance, I have little time for it. Hate to sound like a bitter old lady, but love at first sight—while not impossible—is crazy rare.

3. I couldn’t figure out the point of the whole plotline with Emmi’s boss. His attraction to her was way too one-sided for an effective love triangle, and the whole thing really only served to make Emmi uncomfortable and feel like an asshole for rebuffing him. It didn’t really add any tension to the story, either. All it really did was left me wondering why he even existed in the book.

4. Maybe I’m wrong, but both people on the cover look pretty white. If the book is being marketed as a multicultural romance, why are there two white people on the cover? (Note: I in no way blame the author for this. I realize that when the book isn’t self-published, the author loses pretty much all control of things like the cover and how the book is placed in categories on Amazon. I only mention this in the hopes that maybe the publisher will do a better job with future books for this author.)

But all that being said, I think this was a strong debut effort from a talented lady. (I’m a tough critic, so a 3 from me for a debut novel is a pretty solid rating.) I think future books will be even stronger, and I look forward to great things from this author.

Full disclosure: We received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

If you're interested in a fresh spin of love-at-first-sight, real-life contemporary romance, "Between You and Me" is for you! Miss Lynn Turner combines her love of storytelling, travel, and technology, and introduces us to Emanuela and Finn - two innovative people, who won't let distance or work stop them from being together.

I enjoyed reading about Emanuela and Finn's journey. It was great to explore their backstories, work life, and passions. Each character is strong, but vulnerable at times. Their connection is sweet, sexy, emotional. Even sometimes when they say the most simple of words or look at each other, the heart beats faster. There are some conflicts, but nothing too heavy or angsty. As I read, this theme was clear - even though the characters had life-changing experiences and could have given up, they chose to be resilient and not let their present circumstances break them down permanently.

I appreciate Miss Turner's commitment to bring real-life topics and issues to her characters. It's obvious that she has done a lot of research in regards to subject matter, the locations selected for the story, etc. She describes each scene well, so the reader can clearly imagine what's going on. The couple is interracial, but there aren't hints of fetish behaviors that tend to occur with modern IR romances. (I find it to be such a faux pas, and I usually stop reading.) There is depth to their relationship, which I found refreshing. Also, Finn has a physical limitation, but he isn't written like he's the victim. I think that's needed in today's novels - relatability/own voices, so that anyone who picks up a copy of this novel can connect with the author's words and see themselves in the story.

The Point of View goes back and forth between the characters, so be aware of that. If you read too fast, you might miss the switches. Also, Miss Turner is very descriptive with her scenes, so if you're not used to that style, it may throw you off. But keep reading because the details are important!

"Between You and Me" is a great read. It may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy romance that has an unique twist, with strong storytelling, I encourage you to give it a try.

Lush descriptions of place and experiences make Between You and Me a feast for the senses beyond the 'love at first sight' connection of a scientist and a businesswoman.

Dr. Finnegan Kane has an innovative idea for prosthetics and he has the opportunity to make his case to successful venture capitalist, Emanuela Monroe. But more than a 'smart prosthesis' gets pitched that night when they stare into each other's eyes and see the future... and then run to opposite ends of the country terrified and doubting what they just experienced.

This one started out wobbly for me. I'm a tough sell on the 'love at first sight' meet cute and I didn't buy in to the tinglies on this one. But fortunately, other bits, particularly the characters themselves and their backgrounds were a unique pairing and their situations a curious backdrop to the story so I was content to let that go and enjoy what came afterward.

Now this is a hot 'handsy-grabby- sizzling type of romance, but between the pair's combustion are some great descriptive parts, too. Uptown New York places, music, and eateries, New Orleans for a long decadent weekend, and Finn's stomping grounds of Seattle and his place on an island. I spent the book hungry or longing to go see all these nooks and crannies.

But, its not all heat and fireworks, this pair might have got attracted quickly, but they have a lot of ground to cover before they are couple. Much of their romance is a long-distance one and I loved how that was handled. Em struggles to let go of all her frigid control and take a chance on the love that Finn freely offers her. Finn has to give her time even though he's already all in. They have their tiffs, but are adult enough to talk it through. Not a ton of angst, but some was organic to a romance like theirs- business collaborators, long-distance, and personal issues.

There was a brush with a love triangle though not much since Em doesn't return the man's feelings, rather she thinks Finn's jealous of nothing until she clues in. I was sad for the other party the way it played out, though he did a bonehead thing that made me less sorry for him.

There were some good friendship moments, too, with Finn's friends and her bestie. I loved Em's friend, Allie, who got Em out of her own head, but Finn's friend and fellow scientist and his husband, Simon and Jamie, just cracked me up.

In summary, I got past the meet-up then I found it an engaging spicy work setting- long distance romance. Those who like a steamy contemporary standalone with great settings and a romantic scenes should give it a go.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

How absolutely refreshing! I couldn't put this book down. Lynn Turner has definitely garnered a fan in me. This was a witty, touching, nuanced, and very sexy read! The chemistry burned hot between Finn and Emanuela from start to finish. Romance novels are as old as time, but this story was different. I loved that it was not in the realm of clichés. Many stories I've read are usually so formulaic, but this novel is an exception. The characters felt real, their experiences and emotions were relatable, and their attraction was undeniable. It reflected that love could be found in every corner of society, regardless of race, creed, or physical ability. The romance felt as if it could have happened between two people in real life, just as it did in the book. I also appreciated the interactions Finn and Emanuela shared with the secondary characters; Allie, Emanuela’s Mom and Dad, Philip, and Simon. So often, in other books I’ve read about the main characters in a vacuum, which didn’t reflect real life where relatives, friends, and other supporting relationships matter.

I reveled in the strength of Emanuela's character. As a woman who works hard, and has seen quite a bit of success so far in my professional career, I enjoyed seeing someone like me reflected in this story. Emanuela was smart, tough and no nonsense (not afraid to call Finn out when he was being an ass), yet still vulnerable. I loved how the trust and love developed between her and Finn. Their journey into love was a sharp drop, then a slow (sometimes tumultuous-Lol), tumble as they built their relationship. Finn’s jealousy over Emanuela’s work colleague, Philip was pretty funny. I chuckled at his flare-ups of uncertainty, but I understood his insecurity. He was thousands of miles away trying at this long distance relationship with a woman, whose good friend and professional colleague was putting the moves on her. I was so happy when they (Emanuela and Finn) eventually worked it out. Their “paradise” at the end was worth it!

Finally, coming from a background in science, I was heartened to see this book was clearly well researched by the author-prosthetics and human anatomy are not the easiest things to get right but the writer did. Also, the color in the story was so lively. I felt like I was right there with the characters every step of the way, in New Orleans and at the gala. And the ending – “Tassels”- Loved it! This is a "must reread" for me!

Between You and Me follows the story of Emanuela and Finn who meet during a business deal and their first meeting leaves lasting impressions. Emanuela is a strong, confident business women who is scared to jump into a new relationship after her last relationship lasted two years, but fell apart. Finn is a doctor who is disabled after an accident as a teenager, because of that he strives to create prosthetics that are not only more comfortable, but also look more natural and are inexpensive so that more people have access to them.

Finn wants to pursues Emanuela at first sight, but is also scared of rejection. In his past relationships people have seen him more as a commodity and pitied him, rather than treating him like a human being. Emanuela sees the passion Finn has for his project which spurs her to strike up a business partnership with him which turns soon turns into romance. The two connect at first sight and soon they develop a relationship moved. I thought their relationship advanced pretty fast, in my opinion, but I feel like it was because Emanuela and Finn are very upfront about their feelings during the entirety of the book. Which is something I like to see in any romance novel.

I thought Emanuela and Finn were very likable characters. They have engaging personalities, definite chemistry as a couple, and I enjoyed seeing the two interact with one another. They both come broken relationships and they prove to be the missing pieces that they need in each other’s life. I also enjoyed the steamy scenes as well!

On top of that, I also loved the change of scenery as Finn lives on the West Coast by the water and Emanuela lives in a vibrant city the East Coast. One of my favorite parts of the book is when the two travel to NOLA (New Orleans). Reading about the detailed sights, sounds, and food made me feel as if I was there too.

If you’re looking for a romance that features diversity, own voices narratives, steamy scenes, a fast pace, and love at first sight. I highly recommend this book by Turner. I really enjoyed this book! It took me a few days to figure out how to rate it because it doesn't follow the typical romance format, but to me that was refreshing.

Here's what I liked:

1. Black heroine! (sorry I'm not sorry)

I've never read a book with a heroine who embodied beauty, success (no billionaire bad boy here, she's wealthier than him and it's an interesting dynamic), intelligence, and confidence, but yet she struggled to let herself be vulnerable and fall in love because of the effect of mental illness on her family. She seems so put together on the outside but really she's just like anyone else. I'm used to reading white heroines like this, so it was nice the author switched it up.

2. I did NOT expect Finn to be so confident! Maybe I'm ignorant, so I don't mean to offend anyone, but I just read a book with a disabled hero and he wanted to die of assisted suicide rather than live with a disability. Finn was older, so maybe he's had more time to come into himself, but I really liked how he used his disability to help other people.

3. OMG the FOOD and all the settings were so sumptuous! I felt like I was there in Nawlins eating beignets, riding on the street car. I think Thailand was my favorite. It was so beautifully described.

4. I'm squeamish about voodoo and fortune telling and stuff, but the author captured the cultural significance. It felt authentic and not like a Halloween special.

5. Steamy. Very steamy. But not raunchy and since long distance couples go a while without seeing each other, it's not hard to imagine they'd rip each other's clothes off every chance they got.

6. The banter! I love Emmis friendship with Allison and how they balance each other out.

7. Chemistry. Not just sexual chemistry (that is definitely not lacking) but emotional and intellectual compatibility. As a black professional woman, this is something I struggle to find in my dating life so it was nice escapism to read.

8. HEA.

There wasn't much conflict, but it didn't detract from the story for me. It was so well written and the plot was so different. It didn't need contrived drama.

What I didn't like (why 4 and not 5 stars):

1. I liked her boss as a character, but I didn't understand why he had to be in love with her. It seemed like a plot the author meant to develop and just abandoned.

2. I appreciate there wasn't over the top conflict, but there was one part towards the end that could have been developed just a little more, so maybe that argument could have caused a riff that wasn't wrapped up so quickly.

I look forward to more work by this author.

Finn and Emmanuela envelop you in their sincere love and grab ahold of you from the start. If I had to find one defining factor in this story the word I would choose is passion. Passion is not only the driving force between Finn and Emmanuela, but also at the core of their individual and professional lives. It is such a reward to follow these characters as they fall in love with one another, with each other's work, and with each other's friends.
Between You and Me is a novel designed for modern love, and a reminder that at the core of every fantastic love story are the same basic needs: love, commitment, and compromise. The novel does a superb job at taking us on their whirlwind romance but never shying away from the difficult conversations that all couples, long-distance or not, must face in order to have a healthy and loving relationship.
Something that I truly enjoyed the most in this novel is the fact that their love did not demand that they change one another. There were no negative connotations, no unfortunate fears attached to the love these characters felt, no sacrifice that required losing the self, just crazy, rational, passionate love. There was acceptance and encouragement as opposed to resignation on these pages, and they read like a refreshing dream in this day and age. This novel removes the fear of loving someone and shows us the world of possibilities available to all of us if we only let ourselves dream and be encouraged by someone dreaming right beside us.

Between You and Me is a sweet, sexy, wonderfully substantive romance. Dr. Finnegan Kane (Finn) needs funding for his innovative prosthetic limb invention. When he approaches Emanuela Monroe, VC extraordinaire, he was so sure he'd make a mess of things. But, they made a connection, and she saw depth in his idea. So when his proposal crossed her desk months later, it was fate's way of putting the two together. Now it's just up to them to make it work. But, how can they when he's in Seattle and she's on the opposite coast?

How? Well, this is the modern age, so Skype for one, and determination, and the flexibility in both their schedules. I found Between You and Me a refreshing read. It's not so out of the box - insta lust for one, is tried and true. Older man (10 years in their case), opposites and attract, etc. But, the fact that Finn is an amputee is different. And, the fact that it didn't overwhelm or take center stage in their story, is refreshing. Then there's also the fact that she's apparently black, or at least biracial (I couldn't quite figure out if she was biracial or not), and Finn is white. All refreshing and not the norm. But, what is really refreshing about Between You and Me are Finn and Emmi. They're both great characters. He with his smart and sexy but nerdy scientist vibe, no alpha male here, not that I don't love me some alphas, because I do. But it's just refreshing to read a romance without one for once. And Emanuela is pretty great. She's successful, smart, independent, definitely not a doormat or a virgin either. Just a normal woman who's good at her job. I can't say I liked the fact that she just honestly couldn't see how much her boss was into her, but aside from that I really liked her.

Generally speaking, Between You and Me is a great read. It's sweet, it's sexy, it's got heart, it's a little out of the norm, and the secondary cast is as great as its leads. 1 click today!

Been craving Turner's words since reading Pas de Deux and Between You and Me has been calling for me to read it ever since. It was different from Pas De Deux but still intriguing and a page turner.

I loved how it was diverse in so many ways! I especially enjoyed the power reverse with Em being the one to make Finn's dreams come true and the challenges that come from long distance relationships.

I also adored Em and Finn, their friends and all of their interactions. But, my favourite thing about this book had to be the New Orleans soulful scenes and I'm already looking forward to Turner's next book to see how much she has evolved as a writer and what she will bring next.

Between You and Me is a story that follows a well-known, almost typical, romance plot line. When I first started reading I was bombarded by déjà vu after déjà vu, but I still enjoyed it!

Why? Let me tell you why:

1. DIVERSITY. I love books with a diverse cast, and thankfully, BYaM didn’t disappoint. The fact that this is a multicultural story and follows a disabled character had me smiling from the very beginning! And extra points for not making it an issue book, but instead focusing on Finn as a whole, three dimensional, complex character!

2. CHEMISTRY. I prefer my main characters to have chemistry if they are going to be falling head over heels for each other. Yeah, this was an insta-love type of story, but Emanuela and Finn had chemistry, so whatever! Besides, it helps keeping my hopeless romantic side alive.

3. THE VOICE. Nope, not the TV show. Lynn's writing style made this journey a very pleasant one for me, and I think it’s time I confess something: I’m not really into adult romance *insert guilty emoji here*. (I have a very young mind, I swear, my brain still thinks we are teenagers, so I'm mostly drawn to young adult books.)
This story grabbed me from the very beginning; the descriptions were one of the best parts as they helped me imagine every location and character without being overwhelming and boring. Lynn's voice is a breath of fresh air in a land filled with romance.

4. THE SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY. You can tell Lynn either knows A LOT about prosthetics and smart limbs, or she did a hell of a research. And I love the way she added it to the story because it made sense, it set the story apart from others, and it never feels like too much.

This is the author's debut novel and I believe it was a strong one. Though there’s still room for improvement, I can see Lynn Turner writing amazing stories in the near future.

This book was amazing from beginning to end. The love story was magical. I loved that from the beginning this was never about an interracial couple, or a man that had a disability. From the moment that they met it was always about them. I will say that it was incredible. Considering that I understand first-hand how Finn feels. I am also a below the knee amputee. I can totally relate to Finn. I lost my leg when I was a young adult just beginning my life. This is the first story that I have read where I felt that someone really understood what my world is like, even the part where he put his leg back on, because he wasn't ready for her to see him hopping around yet. Even when he got in the cab, because he was beginning to limp. Although I am much more secure now it still bothers me when I limp or the pain limb pain kicks in making it harder to wear my limb. Finn might be a fictional character, but what he dealt with was very much real. I was in a stable relationship, and once I was diagnosed with a tumor my life changed forever. I lost my leg, my fiancée, and life as I knew it. For a moment, you feel like it is over, but like Finn I threw myself into therapy. I was too young to be disabled. I wasn’t ready to live in a wheelchair, use crutches, cains, and walkers. I created a new life for myself. I have not found love, and really gave up on that part until reading this story. It was a reminder that there is still life out there. That just because I lost a leg doesn’t mean that life is over. This story is also a reminder that just because people have a disability doesn’t make them different.
Everyone should read this book. It gives you everything all packed into one book without overwhelming you. You have the romance. You have the development of them as individuals and as a couple. Most important is that although this is a fictional book it is well versed in a real-life scenario. I love reading fictional stories that relate to real life. It allows readers to relate to the story, and enjoy the ride. This book is like a thrill ride in an amusement park. That ride that is good from the first dip till you get to the end, and then you are upset that the ride is over. You will want to see more. I know that I do. A must read….

The author was kind enough to send me a copy of this book, which intrigued me because it featured a scientist/amputee as a hero, and a venture capitalist Latina heroine. But I only ended up reading the first third.

Seattle-based Dr. Finn Kane has been struggling to find financial backers for the new type of prosthetic, one integrated into a patient's own neuro-system. He falls into love at first sight with Chicagoan Emanuela Monroe during a party he'd crashed to meet with potential backers. Emanuela's impressed, and her company ends up backing his research, but the two don't act on their mutual attraction until eight months later, when Finn's research is ready to move from prototype to full production. They go out to dinner and fall into bed, then begin a long-distance relationship.

I kept waiting for some conflict to develop, or some character arc for either character to emerge, but I waited in vain throughout the first third of the novel. With no real tension or narrative drive, the story unfortunately did not compel me to keep reading.

What can I say? I was rooting for Emmi and Finn from the get go, and who wouldn't? Though their relationship was a case of love at first sight, it was definitely a meeting of minds, rather than purely a physical attraction - though that was there, of course, and it was hot as hot can be. As their relationship developed, so did their mutual appreciation of the other's body, mind and soul, making it a rounded and believable love story.

Speaking of bodies, this is the first romance I've read (and hopefully not the last) which tackles disability with the right balance of lightness of touch, and giving it the importance it deserves. Finn has a disability, yes, but that doesn't prevent him from being 100% the sexy, desirable, 'whole' hero Emmi wants, needs, and deserves.

Which is a neat segue into the into the issue of diversity. Turner certainly doesn't shy away from tackling diversity head on in her writing–in fact, she embraces it unapologetically–and for that, I applaud her. In addition to Finn's disability, Emmi is a woman of color, whilst Finn is white, so amongst other 'complications'–complimentary/conflicting careers, distance, OM drama–they are also a multicultural couple. I tip my hat even further regarding the way in which she handles these complex issues.

In a nutshell, in my opinion, she nails it. Whilst the characters' differences are what make them who they are in part, Turner is careful to ensure it's not ALL they are. She steers clear of clichés and stereotypes, but doesn't try to paper over disability or race as though they are unimportant to the development both of the characters, and of their burgeoning love story.

Speaking of which, despite tackling issues that many other authors steer clear of, Between You and Me is in essence, an old fashioned love story, retold for our times–boy meets girl (and vice versa), boy is wowed by girl (and vice versa), fate separates them, then brings them together again, boy and girl must work out their sh#t to make it through. Will they? Won't they? Boy just happens to have a disability, Girl just happens to be a woman of color. Emmi and Finn are real people, not the unrealistic visions we're sometimes fed in fiction. However, I'm delighted to report that this makes them no less interesting, sexy, and desirable.

What makes this story stand out is the balance of themes already mentioned, the attention to detail and the strength of the storytelling - the people, locations, food and emotions leap off the page and stick in the mind. I've always wanted to go to New Orleans, and the depiction in this book almost had me booking a flight!

This is a delightful debut from Turner, which demonstrates her writing chops and has whet my appetite for her style and substance. I can't wait for what's next from this talented wordsmith.

“Between You and Me” is everything you should want in a romance novel. It’s witty and charming, sensual and genuine, nuanced and thought-provoking; a once-in-a-lifetime love story set against a canvas of vivid scenery and engaging, relatable characters. I was drawn in from the very beginning and could not put it down.

The chemistry between Finn and Emanuela is palpable from the first moment they meet, and yet right away it is obvious that there is more to their story than a few sparks followed by a whirlwind, fairy-tale ending. Finn is motivated by a tragedy that left him with a disability to use his passion for science to help others with similar disabilities. Emanuela is a smart, successful, venture capitalist in a position to help make his dream a reality. Neither one imagined they’d find The One in the process. The way they navigate the exhilaration and complexities of their new long-distance romance amidst their professional relationship is organic and nuanced. The supporting characters and the settings (which are indeed characters themselves) in this novel are as captivating as the protagonists. They add a tremendous amount of charm and heart to Finn and Emanuela’s story.

I’m in awe of Lynn Turner’s ability to make the reader feel, to create complex, relatable characters, as well as her ability to transport the reader to the settings in her novel. I could literally smell the salty ocean air, taste the beignets, and envision Finn and Emanuela’s sunrise. I’ve never been to most of the places in the novel, but I feel like I have now.

It was an absolute pleasure to immerse myself in this book. It’s a must-read for anyone who is looking for a captivating, feel-good romance with a good dose of heart and charm!

Between You and Me is an engaging story not only about love but overcoming obstacles and disabilities, letting your creativity roam free and doing the best you can in the world.

What initially drew me to this book was that the plot. It was not as formulaic as romance novel storylines can be. I could tell that the author really researched for this novel, and I managed to learn a bit about prosthetics, the human anatomy, and science in general.

Emmanuela and Finn seemingly fell in love at first sight. Finn got tongue-tied when he first met her and Emmanuela’s attraction to him was supposed to be instant. While I didn’t necessarily FEEL their attraction, I know it was there and they seemed to have good chemistry. There was a decent build up and exploration of their relationship, especially with the long distance struggle with both of them living in different cities. I liked the book, though I have admit I didn’t love it. I think there was a bit more telling than showing; and you know how much I love to feel the character’s journey. That, and, I am of firm belief that a romance novel needs at least a little bit of good conflict before the story is wrapped up in a bow. There was a bit of that but you know that I am high on the dramatics when it comes to my romance novels. Ha!

Between You and Me was a good read with a distinctive storyline and a small peek into the world of science and prosthetics. If I had a little bit more of a geeky side, I think I may have appreciated this even more. 🙂

This is the first book by Lynn Turner and a solid debut. I will be checking more from this author in the future.

"Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review"
2.5 stars
There are some interesting aspects in this book, I liked the characters and the descriptions of the different settings (New Orleans, Seattle, New York), but overall it didn’t work for me. Still, the things I find negative are certainly catchy for other readers.
The beginning was exciting – a wounded hero and his generous mission of making functional artificial limbs available to everyone who needs them. The research about this subject and the instant attraction were enjoyable to read in this first part of the book.
Afterwards, the excessive use of telling, the lack of conflict and mystery – the main characters’ “chemistry and spiritual connection” were established right in the beginning - , the prevalence of sex scenes (whereas I really prefer slow-burn romances with plenty of sexual tension, yet, not necessarily with descriptive erotica), or the emphasis on the heroine’s beauty and its impact on the hero really made the story drag a little.
I’m not that fond either of the type of wording the author uses (“He made love to her with a ferocity… Part of her understood his animal need to possess her…”) or the writing style, too descriptive and explanatory for my taste.
The parts about the main characters managing their long distance relationship, the interactions between them and their friends/heroine’s family didn’t really grab my interest.
I'm grateful to the publisher, Wild Rose Press, and NetGalley for providing a free copy.

Between You and Me is one of the most sincere love stories I’ve read in quite a while. I was consumed with the characters after the first chapter and forced myself not to read the whole book in one sitting. Finnegan Kane and Emanuela Monroe’s love story is kismet and captivating. From the moment they meet you feel the spark between the two characters. Finn’s work is deeply personal and his passion is undeniable. Emanuela can’t deny that she is taken by the tenacious scientist and she is dedicated to helping support his vision. Finn and Emanuela’s entwined personal and professional relationships unfold organically from beginning to end.

The setting of Finn and Emanuela’s courtship easily moves through four different locations. Through the characters travels and home bases, I felt as though I was able to take a cross country trip and immerse myself into the scenery and culture of the various locations.  Lynn did an incredible job bringing you along for the trip. My mouth watered from the description of the Po’boy!

Lynn Turner is a beautifully descriptive and insightful writer. The readers are privy to the complex intra and inter personal highs and lows every character. I fell in love with all of the characters introduced in the book.  I was especially smitten with Finn’s business partner and Morris.

Overall this book is a MUST read! I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to see if Lynn follows up this story. These two could have an incredible future. Again, check out this book. Though fiction you can clearly see that Lynn Turner did her research and every moment felt sincere.

A long-distance romance that’s heartfelt and realistic, Between You and Me starts out with possibly the most detailed and beautifully written description of love at first sight I've ever read. The author did a remarkable job involving all of the senses, and not just in how she described Finn and Emmi’s intense attraction to each other, but also the vivid settings, the mouth-watering food, and the sultry music made me feel like I was experiencing it right along with the characters.
Because they live in different cities, Finn and Emmi are forced to spend long periods apart and have to get creative to feel close despite the distance. I absolutely loved all of their romantic actions because they were so imaginative and outside the box and balanced out the heartbreaking longing they had to go through during the time they couldn’t see each other. And even though they’re older—and wiser—than your average romance heroes, they maintained a playfulness that was fun to read.
Between You and Me is the kind of story that reminds you to appreciate the time you have with your loved ones and it’ll make you want to go out more to get your fill of all those sensual experiences!

I don't consider myself a very good book reviewer, but I have to say how much I loved Lynn Turner's first book! Finn's & Emanuela's story is one of two people who are passionate about their work. Finn is looking for a company to invest in his life-changing devices & Emanuela works for an investment company. Once they meet, there's a strong attraction between the two & you won't be able to put the book down. Well, I couldn't! A new business venture coupled with a cross-country romance creates some intriguing situations! Ms Turner is so adept with details that you feel you can see & understand Finn's smart devices as he tells others about them. Basically, you will fall in love with this couple & their story. I did. Between You and Me is a stand alone story, but (hint to Lynn Turner) I sure would love to read about Finn & Emanuela again!

"Between You and Me" breaks new ground. It's an amazing, sensual love story, with vivid characters (not just Finn and Emanuela, who are engaging protagonists, but all the supporting characters are delightful and thoughtfully written as well). But what makes "Between You and Me" special and distinctive is that it isn't *just* a love story--it's a story about overcoming disability, with a creative, completely original plot built around surviving tragedy and doing good in the world. The novel appealed to my mind, as well as my heart, which made it not just a good read, but an enriching one. If you are looking for a fabulous love story that also makes you think, I recommend this book as a perfect choice!

This story was amazing. Lynn knows how to write a story. I couldn't put this story down if I tried. It literally took me 2 days to read the entire story. Finn and Emanuela are so perfect for each other and their love really had me believing in true love. Their romance felt so real and not as if it just happens in stories. Emanuela's strength as a woman was amazing to read. She's a go getter and that's something women need to see more often. Lynn is definitely a descriptive writer and it was really refreshing to see that. Finn having gone through what he did and still coming out as a strong man and still being shown as this sexy man blew me away. It's a definite MUST read and I will forever be in love with this story.

*3.5*

Lynn kindly reached out to me and provided me with a copy of her first book. I read the synopsis and I was definitely interested so I said yes. Between You and Me is a contemporary romance with two characters, Finn and Emmanuela, who have very different backgrounds/lives. It followed the plot line of a typical romance novel which I find lacked a little conflict. There was definitely conflicts in the novel but I find it was very surface level and easily solved. A lot did seem to be conveniently happening. The narration of the two characters flowed nicely and I found she captured time quite well throughout the story. I didn’t find myself wanting to put the book down and pick it up later. I read it piece by piece everyday wanting to know how the characters resolved.

There is a lot of things in here that is different then the typical romance novels on the market today as they are an interracial couple and Finn is a below the knee amputee. I like how he showed that his life still was as normal as every one else’s and that he was using his intelligence to help create the same feeling to those in the same situation as himself.

For a first novel this was fantastic as it didn’t feel like a first novel. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read romance novels.

This was a great read...I really enjoyed Finn's personal connection to his business and for me it made it all that more important that his endeavor succeeded.

I really enjoyed the connection that was built between Finn and Emanuela and their bond is one that cannot be broken now that they have fallen in love, and she has made his life mission hers as well.

I would love to see a sequel to this story that includes possible flashbacks to the time-lapse's within the story as I am sure there are little nuggets that would have occurred during those times that would make the story even better.

I received this book from the author in exchange for my review. Sometimes whirlwind love stories are hard to believe, but this one was not only believable but also made me fall in love with the characters themselves. Finn is the perfect man – smart, handsome, kind, and he loves Emanuela! The only real difficulty in their relationship is the distance between them. The story unfolds around the times the two are able to be together, and I think the fact that they can’t see each other all the time is the reason their relationship moves quickly once they each realize how perfect they are for each other. If you’re a fan of romance, I’m sure you’ll love this one!

Ditto

This was a sweet easy read story. Dr. Finnegan Kane and Emmanuella Morris were so cute together. I just love the description of how they were attracted to each other on their first meeting. The author researched New Orleans well as it was accurately depicted. They battled their way from a long distance romance to their HEA. They were getting older and wanted to begin their life together. Emmi supported Finn in his research and was eager to get his non profit going. They had the support of her family and their friends despite her boss Phillip's interference.

If you like a sweet easy read romance story, this is one for you.

I loved this story. It was funny, sad, sexy, and flowed so well. I usually prefer stories with a lot of conversation in them rather than a lot of description. I'd rather know more about the characters than what the view looks like where they are eating dinner. But this was so descriptive, and it just added so much to the story. At one point I felt like I was actually in the room watching them tease each other. I kept looking around my room making sure no one could see me leaning closer to my laptop to read. I recommend this story to anyone who likes romance and a happy ending.

This is a phenomenal love story!! It has love, compassion, suspense, anger, sexy goodness and wonderful punch lines! The two main characters, Finn and Emanuela have no idea what fate has inshore for them and when the meet and are hit with the "love" arrow, life takes a turn neither of them expected thus are not prepared for what's to come. I love tha Emanuela is strong yet not afraid to give life a try. Finn presents himself as a wonderful guy with a huge heart and is also ready to give life a try. This story has captured my heart early!! I will be back with more to say...until then
