Amelia Westlake is about to get married...to the wrong man! Suddenly, keeping her parents happy isn't how she wants to spend the rest of her life. Standing up to them is impossible, though, so she goes into hiding instead. If only the bodyguard who goes with her wasn't so intriguing. And thoughtful. And sexy. Daryl Raintree always thought of Amelia as a fragile, timid mouse. But spending time with her on his parents' horse ranch, he sees her blossoming into a woman finally discovering herself and her sexuality. Even knowing it can only end badly, neither of them can seem to stop the attraction they feel. But not everyone is content to let Amelia ruin their plans. With the clock ticking, she'll have to decide if she's willing to give up everything she has in order to gain everything she's ever wanted.
Nika Rhone spent her childhood wearing out library cards as she read her way through the extraordinary worlds far beyond her small hometown on Long Island, NY. By her teens, her imagination was taking her places all on its own, forcing her to learn how to type (badly) so she could get all the stories down on paper. After a long love affair with science fiction and fantasy, she finally discovered romance, fell head-over-heels, and now spends her days crafting happily-ever-afters for the characters who still tell their stories faster (and better) than she can type them.
I fell so in love with the secondary characters in the first book of this series that I couldn’t wait to read their stories. Like the first book, this one is filled with danger, passion, witty dialogue, and lots of steam and suspense. And as with the first book, Finding Forever had me riveted from beginning to end. I absolutely loved Amelia in the first book. She’d been raised to be the perfect child. Always bending to her parents’ will to avoid her father’s ugly temper and her mother’s biting remarks. She was beaten down and barely hanging on. Only the support of her best friends, Thea and Lillian, kept her sane. That and the antacids she popped like candy to control the chaos her parents’ actions did to her stomach. Amelia didn’t like who she’d become and was ready to make a change. Daryl was a dream come true. Big and powerful but also kind and caring. He knew how fragile Amelia was and wanted to protect her from her parents and in laws. So much so that he’d even return to the home he’d avoided for years just to keep her safe. I loved the transformation that life on the ranch and being together brought out in both of them. The peace and freedom of the ranch allowed Amelia to regain her self-confidence and no longer be a mouse. Daryl didn’t tell her what she should do but allowed her to make her own decisions. A novel experience for her. Daryl was able to let go of the problems at home he’d been holding onto since childhood. Thanks to Amelia, he realized the ranch was where he was meant to be. They both discovered who they really were. And they discovered each other too. Their evolving romance was beautiful, funny, and oh so steamy. It was fun to watch them fight their attraction to each other. But once they gave into it, WOW! The passion was off the charts! If you want a story that’s fast-paced, action packed, and filled with breathtaking romance, look no further. I do suggest you read the first book in the series though so you can really appreciate and understand what brought Amelia to this point, Besides, this series is so phenomenal, you don’t want to miss a second of it.
Amelia's life is all planned out, whether she wants it that way or not. She's about to be married when she discovers she and her fiance aren't exactly on the same page about crucial issues, such as where they'll live and who he gets to fool around with. When she cancels the wedding and takes off for a little R&R in her home in Colorado, the bodyguard who accompanies her discovers her parents will stop at nothing to see the wedding come to fruition, including imprisoning their daughter. With nowhere else to go to avoid the ever-watchful eye of Amelia's father, Daryl Raintree takes her to his parents' ranch. As Amelia spends time out from beneath society's crushing thumb, she blossoms into a woman Daryl admires and can't live without.
This was a delightful story and I found the characters warm and extremely likeable. My one complaint is that many of the most dramatic emotional moments take place off-stage. When Amelia decides to stand up to her mother at her engagement party, it's a fade-to-black. The next scene opens with her telling her friends about discovering her fiance with another woman. Two crucial moments of potential growth for the main character are relegated to a few sentences of dialogue. This happens a few times, and the reader in me felt a twinge of disappointment.
I loved it! I am now adding Nika Rhone to my favorite list of authors! I loved Amelia and Daryl’s story. A sexy bodyguard, damsel-in-distress-turned-empowered-woman, a ranch, intrigue, and steamy sex. What’s not to love? Ms. Rhone created believable characters that grab you from the start. I loved this book and am now off to read more books by Ms. Rhone.
Nika Rhone has written a page turner! I couldn't put down Amelia and Daryl's story until the last page. How could you not love a sexy bodyguard and a runaway bride?
I was looking forward to Finding Forever because I loved the first book What The Lady Wants. But I was not prepared to be blown away like this. What I enjoyed the most was the horse ranch setting where Amelia and Daryl both face personal challenges and grew as people. Ms. Rhone's writing sweeps you up and brings you into her world and you won't want to leave. Ever! Oh and this was also a romantic suspense and if you like bodyguard stories you will ADORE this one.
Ms. Rhone has created two unforgettable characters that don't belong together, strips away their defenses and opens them up to find themselves. And in turn they find forever!
