Ull Rigel is a fit and worthy Tornian warrior, the first male of a powerful and respected Lord. Because of this, he'd always believed he'd be able to attract a female, securing his bloodline.

But he hadn't.

He hadn't even been able to attract one of the Earth females they'd discovered. But his younger brother, a third male, did. Now, the Emperor was sending Ull to Earth to protect it from the Ganglians who were abducting the females his brother warriors so need.

Trisha Burke had plans for her life. Career. Family. Friends. But one moment changed all that. Her friend Lisa and Lisa's two children suddenly disappeared without any explanation. When local law enforcement couldn't find them, she reached out to the most powerful person she knew. The President of the United States, her Uncle.

Two people who have had their lives turned upside down are on a collision course. How these two handled the impact and deal with the aftermath will affect not just them but all the Known Universes.

I feel like I have been waiting for this book to come out for ages! And that's because I have. Was it worth the wait? Kind of, this isn't my favourite in this series (my heart forever belongs to Grim) but iI still enjoyed it.

Read if you like an arrogant alien warrior hero who is permanently baffled by and fascinated by the female he is head over heels for!

I hated the hero, liked the heroine but even with me liking the heroine I still couldn’t finish. There was just something. One thing is for sure tho, there will never be another Grim he was one of a kind. My hero.
At 53% nothing relationship-wise had happened. Just some kisses (1 or 2 kisses) I forgot because I wasn’t really invested in the story.

At long last!!!

I really liked this story and how everything is fitting together as far as the different peoples - humans, Torians, Kaliszians, and Ganglians (who seem to be the bad guys, but who also may get a story???). Then there is a reference to the Regulians, who are from the Challenge series, but that is about a story after the destruction of Earth. It seems like there is a tie-in, but how is that going to work???

Michelle tells such wonderful stories, I just wish she was able to write faster since i am such a fan!!!

Series: Tornians #4
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Ull Rigel has always believed himself to be a fit and worthy male, until recent events make him realize he might not be. Now he is constantly doubting himself. Now he is being sent to protect Earth by Emperor Wray and has to work directly with the President's niece to set up a treaty. Trisha Burke doesn’t like Ull at first, but that changes as she gets to know him. Together these two work to make a treaty between Earth, Tornian, and the Kalizian empires.

I have been waiting for this book since 2015 and it did not disappoint. I was a little concerned with how this story would go. Ull has been angry and bitter since being passed over during the joining ceremony. His world has completely changed and he doesn’t know how to cope with the changes. I really enjoyed seeing Trisha put Ull in his place and make him open his eyes. Ull was moody, arrogant, bitter, but also very protective and sweet to Trisha. I quite liked him, which I didn’t think was going to happen.

Trisha was a very strong, independent woman. She has had a very stressful life but she hasn’t let that stop her. I really liked Trisha. She was a great heroine. I loved that she wasn’t afraid to stand up to Ull and tell him when he was being an asshole, which is frequently in the beginning. She is the perfect mate for Ull because she challenges him and makes him be a better person.

Overall, this book was worth the wait and I highly recommend this series. I do suggest that you start with book 1, Grim, because I think it’s the only way to truly understand the overarching story. Also I did notice a few grammatical errors but they didn’t distract me from the story.

Trigger Warnings: Heroine has cancer. Death of a parent from cancer.

I think the author doesn’t enjoy this series.

I went into this story thinking it would be a train wreck.
I was pleasantly surprised.

This story is mostly based on Earth.
Hero is a dick but the heroine doesn’t take shit.

Recommended for those of us who are suckers & still hoping to see MK give this series some love.

I wanted to ask Ull: Who do you think you are? and then slap him! Just to see his face!

Trisha was much better! And she teached Ull a valuable lesson!

Spoilers ahead

Finally communication between the different races has led to the location of Earth, A decision has been made to make contact and offer protection from the Ganglians who continue to kidnap women from Earth. Trisha the h of book 1 best friend is the person deemed as the best contact as she's also the niece of the president. Warrior Ull is sent with a party of 3 to make contact

*****
I didn't like Ull or his nasty and disrespectful thoughts about women and the role they should play in society, even for an alien his attitude was one of the worst I've encountered throughout this series, thankfully the h is a female with a strong backbone and is able to put him in his place and eventually change his way of thinking
Lots happening as trade is set up with Earth
I did think not enough page space was given to the couple and the development of their relationship

Oh if only the cure for cancer was like this 😭

All in all I enjoyed this one

So this book made me realise I miss Gim and every other character in the Tornians series will never match him, especially Ull. It seems this series is losing its magic.

This one just isn't working for me.
The Hero is the disgruntled brother from earlier in the series, feeling overlooked his younger sibling got the promotion and the girl.
But the setup is just a bit odd.
I'm not taking to the Hero or heroine.
I appreciate the author has tried to do things a bit different this time but it's not working for me.

Finally some Tornians...I've been waiting a long time.

Ull was a bit of a jerk, but we kind of knew this from previous books. There wasn't much chemistry between him and Trisha at first.

The story mostly takes place on Earth and on the Searcher which has flown to Earth to begin a treaty to obtain women.

Awesome read!

Loved it! I love this series. I wondered how Ull was going to do with the darkness whispering to him. Once he got in the right frame of mind and understood the earth female things went smoothly. Lol. I always enjoy going to Luda. Awesome read!

Only fair. I never warmed up to the "hero." I also found the romance forced and the dialog a bit wooden.

Not the best in the series.

Oh boy, this book…will be difficult - is what I initially thought after reading the previous book Ynyr where we got to see the ML of this one aka Ull.
It was worse.

First paragraph and I already don’t like this dude.
Next 3 paragraphs and I hate the male lead.
Want to bitch slap him sooooo bad!

description

Next few paragraphs only cemented my dislike. Talk about über asshole of epic proportions. I’m dropping this. Must be some kind of record. Not even chapters or pages, mere PARAGRAPHS!!!

I had thought to maybe try come back to it later when I’ll be in less murderous state of mind…but with this jerk…yeah, seems like I'll be wanting to torture him throughout the entire book so DNF - not worth my time.

Ull's story

I have enjoyed all the books from this universe, and while I pre-ordered Ull, I have to admit I was hesitant about the angry, bitter Ull being 'hero' material. However, I enjoyed Ull's story too.

Ull is an angry, resentful, entitled, arrogant male whose whole identity is bound up in his position as being the important first son and future lord. This has shaped his world view and thoughts on females.

All in all, Ull is not a 'nice guy' really in previous books and at the start of this book. His story of redemption comes when he meets the president's daughter as the person he has to contact to forge an agreement with Earth. Trisha not only makes him re-evaluate his view on his people's treatment of women, but makes him look at himself honestly and has him choose whether to sacrifice everything for love.

There is the obvious repetition of explanations on their cultures, and I do understand that in first contact meetings these are appropriate, it also allows readers to understand if they haven't read previous books (please do read those books first if possible as that is recommended and I would say necessary even though this story is a book about this specific couple ) . An enjoyable read, a little predictable in some parts, the odd English error (not really distracting) overall a worthwhile purchase.

If you haven't read the previous books, I guarantee you will fall for Grimm, he is still my favorite.

3,5 - 4.0 ***

I liked Ull and Tricia. I did think it was a bit too convenient that Tricia's brother was the President as well as her illness and the eventual healing with the deep repair unit. I saw that coming early in the book. There were no surprises and little angst. If you've read the series you'll enjoy being back in the 'world' and visiting with the past characters.

I was hoping that Callen was the next book in the series and was a bit disappointed when it was Ull‘s. But I liked the story and how Ull evolved from the jackass to a great Lord. Can‘t wait for the Next book, hopefully the story of Korin

Ull some spoilers

On my gosh!!!!! Me doing a happy dance. Ull got his lady. I am so thrilled with their story. Trisha was perfect for Ull. She made him see the wrongs and clarified his feelings. He finally made all the right decisions and didn't fall into the depths. Their characters were so very well thought out and engaging. The overall story line is so intriguing and I can't wait to read the next in this series. I would highly recommend this book and this series.

I have been waiting for this story for what seems like forever and a day. I know that M.K. Eidem has been dealing a lot in her personal life so this story is a bit overdue. The last thing we knew Ull was heading to Earth in order to broker a peace treaty and Mikey letting him know to be self aware.

Since waiting forever I kept forgetting about the rest of the characters that are not on planet. Ull was one of those characters which I didn't really enjoy. Yes, he was susceptible to a dark God's manipulation however he just came across so privileged. Yes, he is the first male of his household however he treated his mom like shit. When somebody treats their mom like shit for no reason that just makes me feel as though they do not deserve happiness.

He is so consumed with jealousy and hurt that he does not really see the bigger picture. In this story it took him about a little more than half of the way through the book for him to realize that it's not all about him. Trisha to me was exactly how Lisa described her to be. She was independent, self-assured, determined, and everything a woman needed to be in order to let the Tornians know they are not going to be able to take females because they're in need.

I did like this story however as I mentioned before it just took too damn long for Ull to get it together. I did enjoy all the little interactions with new characters and I am curious about a couple of the Tornians males. I am really hoping that Wray's top Captain, Veron, finds a mate because he deserves one and I'm really hoping that Callum gets his girl. It feels as though they have been dancing for a very long time and they just need to get it together.

I'm also interested to see how this Intergalactic dating app/site works. I cannot wait to see if a new Warrior ends up finding his mate. I wonder what happens with the Ganglians since The Goddess let Trisha know that they are vital for the universe.

Was the story worth the wait? Yes and no. Yes, because I got to see what is happening with a couple of my favorite characters and I am excited to be introduced to new characters. No, because I was not really excited for Ull to get his book before Callum. I do understand that this story moves along the plot story and it is a pivotal book within the plot however Ull is, eh.

I almost didn't even read this book. Seriously. I had such a strong dislike for Ull in the prior books that I couldn't even imagine an ENTIRE book that revolved around him. But...I wanted to know what happened with the Earth negotiations....so....I relented. Color me surprised! Happily surprised. I actually ended up enjoying the entire thing - the evolution of Ull, the introduction of Trisha, the new President of the US and the continuation of the story arc.

At this point, there really isn't much to say but I will say that I have enjoyed this entire story arc. I honestly could not imagine how on Earth (see what I did there?) this could ever work out. How the different factions - countries - however you want to portion it out, how they could EVER make it work. But, they did.

No spoilers so all I'm going to say was that I enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the progression of the story but I am completely BAFFLED on how in the world that Ms. Eidum is going to make those AWFUL, AWFUL stinky bastards (Ganglians) even remotely appetizing or likeable - which is apparently the next step in this crazy story..

But, who would have thought I would invest the time and effort of reading 9 books about aliens who kidnap women in order to "join with them"? I know a good story when I find it and an author who can make us totally root for these crazy yet loveable men from a different universe who didn't know what hit them when they decided to mess with Earth women - she's got me hooked :)

Bring it on.....

***MINOR SPOILERS***
This book is part of the Tornian series. Some of the characters from other books are mentioned or appear.
The Tornians have a severe shortage of females. It has upended their society and females control relationships. Males are the warriors and are in charge of protecting their females and their houses. Females are expected to bear children and that is it. In this book, Ull leads an expedition to Earth to deliver some people who had been kidnapped by another group of aliens as well as to try to get women from Earth to consider Joining (marrying) with Tornians.
While on Earth, Ull is confronted with a society that he never expected to see, and it is very different from that of the Tornians. At first, he is dismissive and chauvinistic, but as the book goes on, he changes his mind about many things.
Trisha is the good friend of Lisa, the main character in the first book of the series, Grim, as well as followup novellas. Trisha is brave and helpful in getting the people of Earth and the Tornians through their first interactions. She is strong and stands up to Ull when he says some of the things he says about the way he thinks things should be. Trisha faces some difficult news during the story and the resolution of that is a surprise.
I liked the relationship development between them. The point of view switches between Trisha and Ull.
There are several editing mistakes throughout the book.
I liked this book. I decided to continue on to the next book in the series.

Good read, less passion of previous books but has its moments

I was really wanting this book to come out and in many ways it is satisfying. However it is not as compelling as her earlier books in this series. Here are more specifics
1) the basic storyline of Ull going to earth as an ambassador and contacting Lisa’s friend is a really good one. The interactions between Ull and the earthen leaders is a good example.
2) the heroine, Trisha, is likable and caring and very perceptive. However she does not come across as powerful as some of the other heroines in the earlier books. I think this is true because she is not faced with the kind of challenges to overcome. This isn’t a fault if the basic storyline but more the decision to focus on her illness versus dealing with issues relating to an alien first making contact. If that had been a smaller part or better if the book had been longer and more developed this would have been taking care of. This is the same issue with the development of the hero. His ability to lead is not developed much.
3). The book lacks the passion of all her earlier books in this series. It almost feels like the author has gotten bored with this series. I am really hoping that is not true as I really love this series.

I had really high hopes for this book and am a bit disappointed. However it is well worth reading if you are committed to the worlds the author is building

Don't judge the book by its cover. As with Ynyr the cover guy is soooo 😖😖😖😖 🤣 omg... anyway, I really was happy with the descriptions to have a more pleasing picture of Ull. For some people this story might have been boring what will all the politics and negotiations but I liked how they had to get to know each other. Still it was fast paced and did not have so much romance as to see Ull and Trisha really falling for each other. But you could feel it between the lines.

I found it a bit weird that a 4 year old would have premonitions and I found it not really fitting that the Goddess actually appeared. The world building does not really manifest that. Don't know how to describe.

Speaking of world building... the author started this series more than 10 years ago so I'd say she might not have tons of experience in it. But the trope with dying civilizations really needs some work. The gradual extinction of the Tornians started about 400-500 years ago!? Now they have 1 woman to 200 men. That is not possible statistically to result in so many men. Also think about the genetical pool. Doesn't add up. If you would set this up with 150 years prior, it might work. But not that many generations.
As for the Kaliszians, I did not read the books, but if this is a people starving for several hundreds of years, their people won't produce huge muscular individuals but the people would adapt to less food, less variety, less nutrients and become smaller, not bigger...
