Oscar has no desire to join one of the two secret societies issuing him invitations and he sure as hell isn’t interested in an arranged menage marriage. They say you can’t die of a broken heart, but he almost did.
But refusing to join either society doesn’t stop him from being caught up in the danger that surrounds them. When he finds himself racing to decode a dangerous mystery alongside a sexy physicist, and a man with a price on his head, Oscar will turn into the protective hero he never wanted to be.
All he has to do is evade a serious threat from a religious cult, defuse a bomb, prevent a war between the Trinity Masters and the Masters’ Admiralty...oh...and not fall in love.

Full disclosure: I nabbed this book solely on the cover. I was scrolling thru a blogger group and BAM there it was, and I mean … #win
This is my first dip into not only these two authors (well, I read one book my Mari Carr a long time ago) but also this world and I enjoyed both tremendously. At first, I was apprehensive of the trinity concept but it turned out to be nothing like I assumed, which was great! Honestly, everything about Necessary Pursuit was great. The drama, action and suspense, and relationship between Luca, Selena & Oscar unfolded so naturally as the story progressed. The mix between the sexual nature of the story and the suspense was expertly layered and there was quite a bit of humor thrown into the mix! Put all these things together and you have yourself one heck of a sexy, fun, action pact, romantic suspense!
Even after twelve books in this series, somehow the Trinities storylines still stay fresh, smart, sexy, and so well written, I can’t help but keep coming back for more and more!
I adored the connection between Oscar, Selene, and Luca. Talk about an unlikely triad! But I couldn’t help but root for them to figure out their relationship—to lean on each other. To trust. And to love.
Necessary Pursuit was a bit more rom com than I’ve read in this series. But the suspense and humor was so perfectly woven together, that I couldn’t read fast enough to find out how the whole story unfolded. And, whoa, did the story unfold into an action-packed captivating one.
I love how the Trinity Masters and Masters’ Admiralty are intricately connected. That they’re still standing on a bit of tenuous ground, but that they’re kinda sorta working together. And I cannot wait for the next book in either of the series. ~ Missy, 5 stars
I am thoroughly enjoying The Trinity Masters and Masters’ Admiralty series. I am loving how they are both coming together so that we could enjoy all they have to offer.
I have adored Oscar from when he was first introduced into the series. His sense of humor combined with his seriousness thoroughly amused me. His refusal to join the “cult” and his little remarks bring humor and a little bit of fun into serious situations. I was thrilled when I realized he was getting his own story. You knew at the end of Fiery Surrender that he would end up with Selene in one way or another. She was a perfect match for him. But, who would be the third?
Oscar the tech expert … Selene the physicist … Luca the bomber? Really? Yes, what an unlikely trio these three made. But, as all of their pasts start coming out and we find out the who’s and why’s of it all, you could totally understand the triad. Oscar with his broken heart, Selene the legacy and Luca with his secrets. The secrets all start coming out … the three of them are starting to understand that there is more to them than sex … but, will the Trinity Masters place them together in the arranged marriage? That’s the question plaguing all of them personally. The question of who is after what is the bigger question that needs to be answered before they can even think of life after they mystery is solved. Is it the Bellator Dei coming after Luca again? Is it the Serbians? I guess you will have to read it to find out.
I loved, loved, loved this story. I actually think this story could be classified as a Romantic Comedy Suspense instead of a Romantic Suspense. I really laughed out loud in places. From the Crisco to Femdom to all the nerd references, Mari and Lila brought me to tears on more than one occasion. Oscar was exactly like I pictured him to be. Humorous, sexy, smart and hot. Selene was just amazing … a definite supervillain if there ever was one. Luca was so very interesting … smart, caring and a somewhat virgin that had some pretty wild fantasies. Together they made this story fun, captivating and erotic. I loved their time stranded in the Pennsylvania woods … of course, it made me laugh since they chose a town so close to where I live. It was interesting seeing another perspective on our winters here. But, I was a little disappointed in the end … my heart was a little bit broken. But, I will keep up hope that there will be a different ending to their story in the next book.
Mari Carr and Lila DuBois know how to capture an audience. They know how to write a story that weaves the suspense and humor together to tell a truly captivating story. I always look forward to the next Trinity Masters or Masters’ Admiralty book … you never know what they are going to throw at you next.
While this is book twelve in the Trinity Masters series, this was my first time visiting this particular world. While I've read both authors separately, I've had this writing duo on my TBR for awhile and now that I've finally had a chance to dive into their suspenseful menage series I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. Necessary Pursuit is full of smexy, steamy times, but it is also an international pursuit of catching and taking down all the bad guys.
It is almost scary how the authors whip up all of the intellectual knowledge to add into this book. Their search history must throw up all the red flags...but seriously... We have a physicist, a bomb engineer, and a computer hacker in this romance trinity. These three do joke throughout the story that they sound like a comic book evil group, or what they know would make them perfect super villains. The intelligence between them is so high, that it is funny and I'm glad that the authors use humor throughout the book to showcase it.
They also are very aware of the danger that surrounds them, but stop to appreciate the quiet moments and use that time to appreciate each other. I think because of their jobs, and also because they are on the run, they are very aware that life is short so they use their time to their advantage.
Mari and Lila do a wonderful job piecing together the three characters and showcasing their strengths. How they lean on one another and draw strength off each other when they each need it. That is so important in any multiple partner relationship so no one person is left out.
Overall, this was a great book, especially considering this was my first adventure into this Trinity world. I already have more on my TBR list to go back and catch up and I'm looking forward to it.
Oscar is the grumpy one of the triplets, and at the end of the previous book in the series, he was getting all busy with Selene and the camera light on his laptop came on. We start this book with them realizing they have been watched and his laptop has been breached. It starts out as any romantic suspense should, and then things get turned around, and a couple of twists happen. Through it all though, this is an exceptionally steamy book, and a wonderfully fun book. There were moments I burst into laughter and, some of those, at some pretty intense moments. Oscar learning how to navigated a flash bomb so he could track down and beat his brother who set it off. Oh, oh, oh, and Franco throwing confetti, and some bleated confetti, when a new member is inducted into the Trinity Masters. But the best, the best, is Oscar considering if his doctor triplet Walt could invent shock therapy for anti-super villain treatment. Did I mention this fun also made it into the steamy times? These three were super fun at sexy times, intense suspenseful times, and in everyday, mundane times. Needless to say, I loved this book, I loved this throuple, because there is still some things to happen with them, you just know it
Now, about that epilogue, that had me gasping and cheering at a certain characters appearance, and cringing at his appearance when he showed up. Masters Admiralty is where we are going next!!!!
Loved this story. I have read all of TM/MA and this one is my favorite. Loved how much laughter and exploration was in this story. I also loved how the 2 main males became members. The action is constant weather it is joking, sexual, guns and violence or travel. All the great components of a good action adventure and romance rolled into one. Even though there is no trinity marriage in this story there is a trinity. The characters are fabulous, warm, funny, sarcastic and they complement each other. This is a must read if you have read any of the series you will love it, if you haven't it will convert you to a avid fan.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Selene is b@d@ss! These three intellectuals are so smart but also very, very cool. They have quite the sense of humor too. I did not see Luca coming. As the protagonist of the last book he didn’t kill anyone but he was definitely not a nice guy, now we know why. Oscar shows off his computer genius and temper, but also his soft vulnerable side. Selene, with her book smarts and geek speak, could be a scary supervillain. The Trinity Masters and Master’s Admiralty come together to fight another arm of the big baddie plaguing Europe and this religious cult is seriously evil. So let’s recap. If you like nail biting suspense, edge of your seat action, and angsty, sexy love that comes in all shapes and colors, you will love this book and series!
While the intrigue & suspense was less than some of the previous novels, it kept my attention. The characters are so well written that you feel like you know them and empathize with what they go through. Oscar, Selene & Lucas's story takes you all over the world, with plenty of extremely panty melting MMF action.
Delightful and dirty. Necessary Pursuit has the perfect amount of comic relief, with a fuck-ton of mystery and romance. Mari Carr and Lila Dubois are a dynamic writing team. Every book they write is a MUST READ!
HOWEVER, I now have seventy-two thousand more questions pertaining to this series...!!
Oscar has no desire to join the "cult" that his siblings have. Because he doesn't believe his heart is available for love, not after his ex demolished it. But enjoying a hot relationship with Selene Tanaka, a theoretical atomic physicist at Cornell, is certainly something he's letting himself enjoy. Until the day the webcam on the computer he's analyzing turns itself on. Then he and Selene are swept up into a safe house, and nothing is the same again after that. Especially when they meet Luca, the man they've all along believed to be the villain. But finding out he's not? Finding he's attracted to him as much as he's attracted to Selene? Yeah...
Finding two men who are inclined in the bedroom as she is is a revelation to the brilliant Selene. She can submit, she can dominate, she can be herself with the two men she's come to love. But can she keep them? After all, the Grand Master decides the threesomes, not the individuals. Can she keep her men? Perhaps, if they make it out of this alive.
Luca knows he's done some horrible things in his time. Oh sure, he was influenced early on by the group who took him when he was young, and who are making him do their bidding even now, by holding over his head the only important person in his life. But finding love with Selene and Oscar was not something he was expecting, especially considering the group he belongs to has a mission to destroy the group they belong to. But he'll do whatever it takes to not only protect them and the one always at the back of his motivation.
I have said in previous reviews of this series and its spinoffs, that reading one of them is like a fabulous hybrid of National Treasure and the Da Vinci Code. That still holds true, even more so. There's lots of action, suspense, and sexy shenanigans. But what I loved most of all is the three leads and how perfectly they fit each other, even as unsure as they were that they'd ever get to be together permanently. Their feelings developed so organically, and the way they loved was so beautiful. Luca, Selene and Oscar and their loving menage is definitely my favorite so far in all the Trinity Masters and Masters Admiralty series.
Sex?!! Danger?!! Laugh-out-loud Supervillain gone wild?? Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! But seriously, reading this book flipped me from turned-on squirming, to suspense fueled anxiety, to reveling in the pure pleasure of reading part of such a well plotted set of series. There is a caveat to my enthusiastic recommendation of this book; although the authors do a fine job of lightly sketching the backstory of the interrelated Trinity Masters and Masters Admiralty series, these stories are too intricate to work as stand-alones. This is actually good news for readers who enjoy contemporary ménage in an international conspiracy framework, as there are now 17 of these sexy stories to enjoy. They're like chocolate chips for the mind - you won't want just one. Bon appetit! This is my honest review of an ARC.
Necessary Pursuit is the latest release in the Trinity Masters series and we are taken for a ride with Oscar, Selene and Luca's story. I found this book to be the page turner that I love with this series, from the story line that always keeps us on the edge of our seats to the off the charts, very hot, sexy times, and wrapping it all up with their dry sense of humor, just makes for an excellent read. The chemistry that these three have in the bedroom and out make you want to root for them when they need it despite any force trying to keep them apart. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
I.LOVE.THIS.SERIES.😍😍😍😍😍 What a nail biting, hair raising, scorching hot love triangle this one is...and what surprises could be in store for these love birds still. Grab this page turner and hold on to your seat for this rollercoaster ride!! I cannot wait for the next book!!🔥❤🔥❤🔥 I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
What an amazing and entertaining well written story which is full of content, action, humour and intrigue. The dialogue between Oscar, Selene and Luca is out of this world! Couple this with an intense storyline to make this a must read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend it to you.
I absolutely love this series and each book is just as good or better than the last. A roller coaster of a ride, Necessary Pursuit will keep you on your toes and heat you up too! Loved it.
Loved this (possible) trinity! Oscar is a hoot & Selene is so strong!! And a *wonderful* "super-villian".
There are quite a few LOL sections of this book - be sure to read the Dear Reader. This is a bit lighter & more comical than other books in the series & giving the times we are it's greatly appreciated!
Franco & the confetti!!! Selene & her super-villian-ness & the Ted Talk reference...total LOL! And wow, where do Lila & Mari get these ideas - the chicken house/chicken leg reciever?!?! "That was not the plan we went over"..."I improvised"...wow loved this section too! Crazy times - total LOL!
I really wish I could give this one more than 5 stars - it deserves it!
And the Epilogue - AHHHHHH!!! Can't wait for Wraith's Storm!!!!
Fast paced action with complex characters and wicked fast plot twists make this the best book in this series. Okay I might be biased.
We finally get to really meet and know the second of the Langston triplets - Oscar. Oscar is the computer nerd or more precisely the data mining expert. And, he might be seriously addicted to his devices until circumstances force him to go cold turkey. And he discovers that there is a lot more to life than just being a computer geek. Oscar is opposed to the idea of the Trinity Masters and even calls them a cult. But he ends up joining them when it was needed.
Selene Tanaka is one of those women other women love to hate because she is not only beautiful but has a brilliant mind. Selene is stunningly beautiful which disguises her brilliant mind. She is a nuclear physicist who is looking for ways to make things right in the world. She is confident in her sexuality. And just an all round super villain when she needs to be.
I will not reveal who the third partner is because well, you need to read the book to find out and fall in love with him yourself. He is not quite what he appears to be based on his first appearance in the last book nor at the beginning of this one. But he is worth loving.
I like how fast the action takes place in this book and you do not realize how little time it covers until the end. There are bad guys, guys who seem to be bad guys but turn out to be good guys and someone who is the comic relief. I think we need a book of quotes of Franco's comic relief and the snide remarks from Sebastian. (Although you can tell these two genuinely like each other and work well together to help the Grand Master.)
I honestly did not want to see this book end. I tried to drag it out as long as possible to enjoy it. Even though I wanted to ride it all in one sitting. (I do not recommend this if you need to be up the next day for any reason though.) It did provide more moving forward in the overall arc of both the Trinity Masters and Masters Admiralty series. I am curious as to what has happened to Eric like everyone else. And blast Mari Carr and Lila DuBois for just teasing us again. But I know that when that question is finally answered, all of our minds will be blown away. I am starting to figure out why the wine supply is low in my region after Mari has finished writing one of these books. (We live in the same region of the country.)
I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from both authors in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. Although I always pre-order any of their books as soon as I see they have something coming out no matter how far in advance it is. They are that talented.
In this secret society, there are some interesting stories. Oscar stole my heart when he was introduced so many stories ago and I'm glad his demeanor has changed, well, somewhat. Ocsar and Selene have been held up in a hotel room for a couple of days getting to know one another when a program hes trying to hack comes to life. From there they are wisked away for their own saftey and Oscar is "forced" i to joining what he refers to as the cult. They are in danger from the bomber, Luca. Luca isnt what he seems though. The three of them connect in a way that none of them saw coming. I admit i wasnt sure where this was going to go. I never saw them all over the eastern US or traveling to Italy to find answers. I was on the edge of my seat through this book and had trouble putting it down. I wanted to dive into the next one but sadly, i have to wait. ;). Are you interested in hair raising adventure? Are you interested in holding your breath with anticipation? Are you interested in some of the hottest fantasies coming to life? Then look no more! This is what you should read!
Necessary Pursuit is different from what we are accustomed to when reading about the Trinity Masters. It is lighter and had many funny moments. This triad of Selene, Oscar (the second Langston triplet and the one who swore he would never join either “cult”) along with Luca, whom we met in the book before, come together to try to solve the mystery of a religious cult out to blow up cities. Selene is hysterical as she worries that she might become a super villain, Oscar tries his hardest to resist being in a “cult” and Luca realizes he is more than the way he was brought up all while trying to stop the group out to destroy the Master’s Admiralty which in turn impacts the Trinity Masters. This story is fast paced and full of action. There are many humorous moments between the characters as well as a few steamy ones. There were quite a few twists throughout the story including in the epilogue (I screamed). I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one night. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
This book isn't your typical Trinity Masters story. It doesn't begin with strangers that are "called to the alter", who then fall madly in love, solve a mystery and all is right in their world. Nope. The authors went in a different direction this time, and in doing so, kept me guessing! Several times, I had to stop for a minute, and ask myself, "did I really just read that?!?" or "what the heck just happened!?!" That's what I love about this series. Just when I think I know what's going on, the authors pull out the big guns, and go in a completely different direction!
This book was explosive right out of the gate. The characters had off the charts chemistry, and a connection that nothing could stand in the way of. Each had their own baggage that they brought to the story, and there were lots of things that tried to keep them apart, but in the end, the HEA always wins out! However, the ending of this book wasn't what I expected, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Their story doesn't feel finished, and I think the authors have more in store for this trio. Maybe the authors have something big planned? I'm not sure, but I know I can't wait!
Lila Dubois and Mari Carr consistently manage to make every new edition of the Trinity Masters/Master's Admiralty series fresh, intriguing and exciting. In Necessary Pursuit we get a unique threesome who have not been brought together by the Grand Master: Oscar "the grouuch" Hayden, Dr. Selene "the supervillain" Tanaga and Luca "the bomber" Campisi (yes that bomber from Fiery Surrender.) They're funny, kinky, individually brilliant and destined for great things. So hang on to your hats, it's a great ride.
WOW! So this is my first foray into the Trinity Masters world, and I can't believe it's taken me this long! I need to go back and read the first 11 books...now.
Watching Selene, Oscar, and Luca figure out how they feel about each other, in the midst of a huge international crisis was quite the ride. There was plenty of intrigue and holy hell, was there plenty of heat to balance it out. Throw in some really sweet moments as the three figured out their feelings and this book had it all. It was a little frustrating that there were some things left unfinished...but I'm assuming we will see/learn more in future books.
If you're looking for heat (menage level heat) with a healthy dose of love and suspense...this is the book for you!
Another great addition to the Trinity Masters Series. It's amazing how these two authors can keep coming up with additional stories that are page-turners. A lot of spice in this one as we follow Oscar, Selene & Lucas's around the world and delve into there MMF world. Plenty of spice and sizzle to keep your Kindle steaming. The story has a lot of depth and drama. Another great book from this duo that I read as an arc and voluntarily chose to review it.
Mari Carr and Lila Dubois always deliver a thrilling, romantic page turner. As the authors themselves stated, this book was a little more light hearted than the rest. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Necessary Pursuit is awesome! You are going to love Oscar, Luca, and Selene. They are snarky, kinky, and a force to be reckoned with. The story had lots of twists and turns. There is even some supervillan action! I could not put the book down. I can’t wait to see what’s next with the last triplet and Erik!!
Necessary Pursuit is book twelve in the Trinity Masters series by Mari Carr and Lila Dubois. This well written MMF romance story has plenty of suspense, mystery, intrigue, action, surprises, humor, and steamy ménage scenes.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
4 ½ Stars! Book twelve in the Trinity Masters series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone, but so much better if series is read in order. Full length told in multiple POV with secondary characters from both Trinity Masters, and the Masters Admiralty series. A well woven story with a lot of characters working together to solve a mystery. There is also some steamy ménage action, but there is NOT an arranged triad. This is the kind of book / series that is so engaging you cannot put it down once you start reading!
Love this series!, and Necessary Pursuit did not disappoint
Dr Selene Tanaka and Oscar Hayden have been enjoying a fling. His brother Langston settled and on a much deserved honeymoon with his Trinity. When he is not playing with Selene, he is investigating a clone of the bombers tablet. When the camera turns itself on. He knows they are in danger. The Grand Master offers protection to Selene. To stay with Selene, Oscar agrees to join the TM. They aren't in their remote Pennsylvania safe house 24 hours when the bomber finds them. Selene and Oscar take a chance. Luca Campisi story is compelling. Trouble is right behind him. Selene could give Christian Rogers Stewart competition with her super villain performance. Oscar, Selene, and Luca escape in a blizzard and hold up in a quirky remote vacation cabin. They get to know Luca, who was raised in a religious cult who's purpose is to destroy the Masters Admiralty. Luca has long been disillusioned with Bellator Dei. He stays to protect his believer sister. Oscar, Selene and Luca forge an intense relationship and explore all of Luca's fantasies, while awaiting rescue. Juliette and Sofia had activated their newly created joint task force the MPF, Masters Protection Force, to locate Luca. They now have a new assignment, taking down the Bellaror Dei, and rescue the innocent. Oscar and Luca are taken. They get some unexpected help in locating them. Selene with the help of the MPF, steps back into the roll of super villain to save them. Luca, Oscar and Selene have fallen in love and decide to spend as much time as they can together until it is no longer possible. A lighter story. Selene has moved to the top of my favorite heroine in the series. Fun fast paced and steamy MMF , lighter romantic suspense, with light BDSM and roll play. A happy for now for Oscar, Selene and Luca. A intriguing set up for Walt's story. Erick has resurfaced and he needs Walt Hayden's help. Can't wait for Walt's story.
We finally get to know the second of the Langston triplets, Oscar, the data mining expert. He is vehemently against being recruited into the Trinity Masters “cult”.
Selene Tanaka is a beautiful and brilliant atomic physicist/“super villain”. (She’s not really a super villain, but is quite good at pretending). She is a legacy member of the Trinity Masters, so she knows her time with Oscar is limited.
The two met in Fiery Surrender, and are trying, unofficially, to help the TM and Masters Admiralty bring down someone who terrorized one of their own.
Is that someone still a threat? Is there more than meets the eye? Definitely need to read the book to find out!
This story really hits all the buttons for me. There is romance, intrigue, danger, humor, hot scenes, and a continuing mystery. Oscar and Selene need the help of the Trinity Masters and The Grand Master. It’s great to visit with wonderful characters from previous books. There are plenty of unanswered questions, because this is an ongoing series (both Trinity Masters and Masters Admiralty).
I think this book was a little heavier on the humor than the other books. There is certainly nothing wrong with that, because I’m sure we can all use a bit more laughter in our lives these days. I wasn’t as quite on the edge of my seat as I usually am with these books, but I’m sure the authors have more torture in store for the characters and those of us readers who are always anxiously awaiting the next story!!
I love Oscar, Selene and the third character (who I won’t name), and I cannot wait until we get a bit more of their story. I also cannot wait for the story of the next trinity to be published!
