Rabindranath Tagore's poetic words " the tear-drop on the cheek of time", one of the world's 2nd most visited monument in the world-The Taj Mahal.

Well, not much went into building it:-
-20 yrs to complete,

-20,000 artizens brought in,

-1,000 elephants to carry the material,

-32 million rupees($2 billion in today's time).

What is Magical about this Monument:-

-the whole existence of the monument is based on a man's(Shah Jahan) love for his wife(Mumtaj Begum)-an eternal token of love on this mortal earth.

-the story lies not in it's Google pictures but experiencing it up close and personal.

-has the ability to change colours during the course of the day

-Nothing more romantic than watching the sunrise above the monument at am or when the Taj glistens when the moon is above it.

-Architects, scientists till today cannot figure out how this was made, especially with all our modern technology.

"The Taj Mahal is India's token of peace and love to the world, so cherish and let us enjoy it together"

Illustrations by Madeleine Comora -- these pictures are done in the Mughal style and complement Arnold's telling of the love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal and the building of the Taj Mahal.

I loved reading this amazing love story and tribute to my children. This was a long book, I knew it would be difficult for them to give it their full attention. We watched a short clip on the Taj Mahal before we started the book. Then, I gave them some bead toys and they played quietly on the floor as I read the book and slowly, each of them put down their toys and became more invested in the pictures and story and ended right next to me. That is the power of a good story.

I read a digital copy of this book to the kids. The kids weren’t as interested in this one, but I thought the story behind the Taj Mahal in a picture book form was great! I’d never heard the story before so I really enjoyed it! It’s such a beautiful love story!

This is a beautiful book. I've always thought the Taj Mahal was beautiful but I didn't know the story behind it. It was heartwarming to read of a love so strong and a tribute so beautiful. I learned a lot from this book.

The 6yo needs to do a project on India, and decided to focus on the Taj Mahal - thus this book. It is kind of wordy and overly romantic for a 6yo boy, and doesn't give as many details on the construction as we would have liked. On the plus side, the illustrations are beautiful - however, they're kind of small (in part because they are set on elaborately detailed backgrounds that fill a lot of the space). I would have preferred for the illustrations to be larger - or maybe that's just my "old eyes" complaining!

My audience of two (and me as the reader) loved this book about Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It reads like a fairy tale and includes beautiful, intricate illustrations that add to the romantic tone. Absolutely one of my favorite books ever read.

What a beautiful tale. I knew the history of the taj mahal coming in but this is so beautifully worded. The story is complimented by the art that frames it. I think this story would be too complicated for younger children, but in a group story or a supplement study it would be good.

Membaca buku ini sambil lalu. Nipis saja. Sebuah buku bagi bacaan kanak-kanak. Dan terjumpa fakta menarik iaitu tarikh lahir Shah Jahan adalah 15 Januari.

This informative text provides a wealth of information for student researchers on a topic that is not widely explored in other children's books.
