Charles Soule is a #1 New York Times-bestselling novelist, comics author, screenwriter, musician, and lapsed attorney. He has written some of the most prominent stories of the last decade for Marvel, DC and Lucasfilm in addition to his own work, such as his comics Curse Words, Letter 44 and Undiscovered Country, and his original novels Light of the Jedi, The Endless Vessel, The Oracle Year and Anyone. He lives in New York.
With Soule having touched upon Lando and Lobot’s friendship in his Lando miniseries a few years ago, it’s only natural that he’d have Lando go back for him. I want Luke to find the lightsaber already, but we’ll have to wait a little longer. And Leia is in a predicament I would not have expected. Tarkin’s Will is an interesting concept but feels like an info dump when introduced.
These are some great Star Wars stories. Taking place right after The Empire Strikes Back. It is fascinating how many new stories can be squeezed in-between the classic Star Wars movies. Looking forward to many new stories and characters. Loved the ending...…..
The more Charles Soule comics I read the more I get excited for him to leading the High Republic era novels with a full length story. In this issue I specifically enjoyed the backstory for the Imperial Commander that is hunting down the remaining Rebels who escaped Hoth. The main story with Lando, Luke and Leia was good and had a great cliffhanger but the Imperial portion was the most interesting.
The new Star Wars series has been really good; solid writing, fantastic artwork and a great story that seamlessly fits into the Star Wars universe. Unlike that previous Star Wars comic series I’d highly recommend this one!
I really enjoyed this issue. Luke returns to cloud city to find his sabre and chaos ensues. Definitely some creative liberties taken but I'm here for it.
2/5 ummmm Disney Canon is flawed. It's just not great story writing. I mean the way this issue ended. I just don't get it. Shadows of the Empire is waaaaay better.
#3 – Lando gets lots of page time and the best juicy dialogue in this series. “Something I never like to be without. The winning hand.” “Cloud City belongs to ME.” – Lando
