The past comes back to bite Andy on the bum big time, it encroaches on his precious family life when his wife and children have to go into hiding after threats are made against them. Andy's team have no idea the trouble Andy is in, he tries to bluff his way out of it without giving away any of the details which only him and a few very high up's know about. As expected this is an absolutely brilliant read, on a knife-edge but as always interspersed with the unique humour of Steven Suttie. Set in Manchester with its sheer northern grit it is undoubtedly a must-read and a great addition to the series.
The eight in the DCI Miller series and effectively the sequel to book one. Miller, his wife & family come under threat from an inmate who says he has information regarding the “completion and closing off” of the Pop investigation. Again, as with other books, lack of editing, refinement and using the book as a political rant spoil things somewhat, albeit once again, that the initial outline plot is , in principle at least, a good one. That said the efforts to cover tracks are somewhat implausible.
I've read every book of this author and find his books so life like as his mention of BBC news and sky news bringing it right to your mind of how it happend , as knowing thats what its like when certain news readers give us the news, and you know who they are not by there name but by there way of reporting the news.....looking forward to the next book always a good read
I have enjoyed all of Steven Suttie's, DCI Miller series. Good stories, GREAT characters. I do enjoy novels that try to stay true to English custom; using English spelling rather than American, English vocabulary, giving a look at the people & area. Manchester is an area I don't know well but I get a bit of a glimpse at through Suttie's books.
Absolutely cracking sequel to one man's crusade I've read every single book of Stevens more than twice and can say without doubt you will love them all . You will question your own moral principles and also learn a lot about Manchester as well as what goes on in hotel kettles .....
I loved all the twists and turns. So many unexpected things happening that kept you gripped tight. I loved reading about the early times of Tommy McKinley and developed a real fear of the monster that he became. An excellent sequel to the Pop saga.
I’m a sucker for Mr Sutties books, they hook you in and keep you on the end of the line until the final page. Gripping stuff, glad I could remember the plot line of its prequel though as that was needed to enjoy this book.
The only disappointing thing about reading books from this author is having to find another book afterwards that can be just as engrossing. You have done well Me Suttie with all of your books
Another excellent DCI Miller story. I'm so glad Suttie didn't ram too much political ramblings down our throats as he normally tends to do. Flowed really well, lots of excitement and not too far fetched.
Steven's books are always a most welcome read. Can't wait for the next one. His characters are great and I can't wait to see what he has in store for them.
