Book 3. 50's something Leona has a chicken farm coop now and she doesn't s doing s wonderful job. Her boyfriend cop Eli has just moved in next door to her in a Blueberry Farm. It wad 4th of July and the new Miss Honey tree Queen was being honored. It was McKenzie. The runner-up was Jillian the waitress for her uncle. Tambre one of Leona and Ruth's friends was the sponsor for the Miss Honey tree Queen. She had two boys Owen and Dillon. Well Ruth was pushing Leona to have a camping trip. Leona really didn't want to go. But Gamers said to them I have a tent let me go get it out of my car. So Leona wad trapped. But when Timbre does d not show up. Leona decided to look for her. When she found her she found her handcuffed by Eli. Then she saw a dead McKenzie in her trunk. She ran and told Ruth. So Ruth and Leona had to take the boys. Trying desperately not to let them find out their mom was going to jail for the murder of the new Queen to HoneyTree. I thought there were 2 different people that killed her. But come to find out it was someone I did not expect. Love these series. I recommend these. Love the little chicks that Leona has. Especially Boots her live in chick that is always by Leona side in the house.

Sigue estando por ahí la pincelada de relación romántica pero es muy poco su peso en la historia. Aunque la autora siempre nos regala algún momento dulce entre la prota y su "amigo", como lo llama ella 😂

to keep a fairly straightforward mystery more complicated, there are the two young boys: Owen and Dillion. I couldn't tell if they were twins or just close in age. That's the downside of listening to an audiobook while doing other things. Regardless, they are young and high energy. Leona with experience from raising her own children is better equipped for handling them, although at times I though they were more chaotic than any children I've known at their ages.
But if you pay attention to all the details and are good at mentally rearranging things, the solution is straightforward. Despite that, it's an entertaining book. I especially liked the secondary mystery of the missing chicken eggs and Leona's solution to the problem.

I received a free audio copy from Tanto Audio and voluntarily reviewed it.
This is such a fun cozy mystery series. I like the chicken farm theme and Leona makes for a great main character. And these are great in audio too, I like the narrator and how she does everyone's voices. This was another great listen.
In this book the 4th of July celebrating ends with a bang when the local beauty queen is found dead in the car of one of Leona's friends. Leona knows her friend couldn't have done this and gets involved to figure out who did. The beauty contest theme didn't really appeal to me and I felt like this mystery was a bit less good than the ones in previous books, but despite that it was still a great read and I was still hooked and wanted to keep reading.
There weren't as many suspects in this case, but plenty of questions. And for a long time I wasn't sure who had done it as none of the suspects seemed right, but I couldn't figure out why. Once I had some time after a big clue at the end to think about the mystery I managed to figure out the suspect just before Leona did and it was a nice twist. I like how this author writes the mysteries and how there is plenty of progression and finding clues along the way. There also are some other plot lines going on besides the mystery, but it was nicely intertwined and fun how Leona found some clues even while focusing on other aspects of her life.
I liked reading about how Leona's egg farm is doing, just like in the previous books there is a sub plot line about her farm. She runs into a weird issue with her chickens here, another mystery, that she has to solve. And it's just fun reading about her chickens and it's clear how much Leona loves her chickens and farm. Leona also has to take care of her friend's kids a few times in this book. I have to say I am not always a fan of kids in books and there was a bit too much attention on them at times, but there were some fun scenes too with the unique outlook kids can have.
It also was fun to see some by now familiar side characters again like Ruth and even Jillian who works in the café. And Leona's relationship with Eli slowly continues. It's fun to see them being neighbors and how they interact.
The narrator again did a great job with this one. I like her voice for this series and her Leona voice is so spot on.
To summarize: I really like this series, it's an awesome cozy mystery series. I like the mysteries and figuring out what's going on as well as the look in Leona's life and reading about her chickens ofcourse. This mystery didn't have as many suspects and while it wasn't as gripping as the first two mysteries it still kept me reading and wondering what really had happened. While I didn't really care about the beauty contest theme, I still found found myself engrossed in the story and wanting to know what happened and I figured out the culprit only shorty before the main character did. I liked the side plot lines about Leona's life, a small mystery surrounding her chickens and her slowly progressing relationship with Eli. I like the narrator for this series and enjoyed listening to this one!

Hillary scores big with this book in my opinion. Lenora and her best friend Ruth are so looking forward to Honeytree's Fourth of July celebration until the Beauty Queen is shot during the fireworks and a friend and the woman who trained the girls for the Beauty Pageant is locked up and accused of murder. Lenora is determined to find out who really committed the crime and we are off to the races with another great mystery.

Ohho! What indeed! Try murder, and the suspect is a Friend? Oh no.
The best aspects of this Series for me are the older, life-experienced, protagonist; her first-person narrative; and of course that cozy small-town "maybe you really can go home again--sort of" perspective.

Another delightful story of Leona's adventures both on and off her chicken farm. The author has a way with words that just draws you into the lives of Leona, Ruth, and Eli. The characters are very three-dimensional and are people that I would like to know. It's amazing how much humor the author manages to pack into her book along with a good cozy mystery. The killer is not obvious, but when you look back, you can see that the clues were all there. I certainly hope this isn't the end of the Clucks and Clues series because these books are so much fun to read. You don't have to read the books in order because the author very cleverly fills you in on who each character is. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. If you are bored with staying safe at home, reading this book will definitely lift your spirits.

She helps her best friend, Ruth, watch Tamara's two small boys while meddling into the investigation. The state police aren't very willing to look any further than Tamara as the murderer. Eli, the town sheriff\Leona's hunky boyfriend, does his best to discourage Leona from her dangerous meddling to no avail.

I had a run of books that were so bad that I was actively avoiding reading the books I was currently in the middle of. Yes, books plural, because I started others hoping that they would be better. Nope. So, yesterday I made the executive decision to DNF the lot of 'em and move on. I dug down a few books in the TBR to get to this one, my first pick following all those DNFs, because I knew that this book wouldn't steer me wrong. This book was so lighthearted and funny and full of dad jokes and just a genuine treat to read. It was completely restorative - reading slump: gone. Bad mood from so many bad books: also gone. I finished this one around 8 and all the angst from the bad books just completely went away.

Ms.Avis has out done herself with this charming but deadly cozey Leona nor Ruth will look the other way when one of thier own is faulsly accused of murder, and they just might find out who really did such a dispiriting thing and what's happening with the chickens. It becomes a heart breaking adventure with children to keep distracted ,a friend to get out of gail ,an unwanted romance and whats happening with the chickens. It's time to aquier a copy of this charming and entertaining cozey murder mystery so that you to may enjoy it as much as I have. 😃😮🤔🙄😏😉😊Kat

The Fourth of July Festival had the crowning of the newest Miss Honeytree. There was fun, and now the fireworks are almost done. But that isn't the only thing done... so is McKenize's life. Tambra is arrested for her murder and that leaves Leona and Ruth to deal with Tambra's two sons. Then there is the issue of Leona's hens' egg count taken a sharp dip. What is going on? Can Ruth, Leona, and Eli convince the state police that Tambra is innocent? Who is responsible for the murder? You will not see this coming! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This was a delightful cozy mystery. Leona, the main character, owns a chicken/egg farm. One of the chickens, Boots, has even become her pet and lives with her in her house. Sounds like a nice quiet life, but she can’t help but get involved in the hunt for the killer of Miss Honeybee and get her friend Tamara out of jail. Together with her best friend Ruth, they work hard to solve the mystery while trying to take care of Tambra’s two rambunctious little boys. With just enough twists and turns and quite a few chuckles, it was a very enjoyable read.

It’s the 4th of July in Honeytree and everyone is celebrating. Leona drives her red Porsche sports car in the parade carrying the runner-up for Miss Honeytree. Parade, picnic, games, and fireworks, everything is great until Leona returns to her car and finds Miss Honeytree dead in the car next to hers.
I really enjoy this series. I love the characters and the setting. The story is always sound.

I received a free advance review copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. Oh my gosh, these books just keep getting better and better. Tambra is arrested for a murder and Leona and Ruth take care of her two kids. They know that Tambra wouldn't and couldn't commit the murder so they try to help find the real killer. What a great book, I loved it and highly recommend it.

I love this series. The Fourth of July celebration and the crowning of the beauty queen turns into a murder investigation. Will Leona uncovered who the murderer to prove Tambra is innocent? Will Ruth and Leona survive taking care of Tambra’s sons? Leona and Eli’s relationship continues to grow. Now that he lives next door, he leaves “presents” on her front porch. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

The 4th of July is a big deal in Leona’s home town. They are all at the big festival when the beauty queen if found dead in her friends car. The prime suspect is one of her close friends. Now Leona has to work double time to find the real killer, so her friend can get out of jail. This is a good clean read with some humor that has you laughing out loud. But will Leona find the killer before they come after her. Good read and hard to put down. Looking forward to the next one.

Who knew running a chicken farm could be so dangerous. Love this series. Hillary Avis has a great world building skill that transplants you into the story. The chickens steal the show every time. You will laugh and follow the clues and the mystery unfolds. This is a wonderful series that will keep you entertained and coming back for more.

This is a very good cozy mystery. I love the small town and chicken farm background in this series. This episode takes place around Independence Day with all of the celebration, fireworks, parade, and hoopla. This fun story can stand alone or be read in series order. Great read. I received a free advance copy and am reviewing voluntarily. This is yet another strong entry in the Clucks and Clues Mysteries. It's a cute cozy mystery with relatable characters and charming chickens. Yes, the chickens are characters. If you are looking for a book with zero questionable language or activity this series is for you.

I received an ebook from the author and this is my voluntary review. I absolutely love this series! It gets better as we get to know the characters better. Superbly written with amazingly funny and loyal characters. Hillary Avis is a rock star when it comes to writing this "chicken" series. Great story I sure wouldn’t have suspected Terry so I really appreciated the way you figured it out. Can’t wait for the next one But.... I think those little rascals need to realize what havoc they are causing. Someone needs to get a little angry with them. Just saying

Chicken Pageant
Fun, quick story with quirky characters and mystery thrown in. I have enjoyed this series so far. I find myself smiling at the silly and enjoying the characters as they figure out the mysteries. I think you wil! Enjoy this story and series if you are looking for a light fun read that will allow your brain some puzzling time also.

Leona attends the annual 4th of July event in Honeytree. A new Miss Honeytree is to be crowned and everyone is excited. One of the contenders is murdered and the mother of 2 young boys is taken to jail. Leona and her friend Ruth are sharing babysitting duty.
This was a cute cozy, my first in the series. I enjoyed Leona and her friends.

Pageant Crown and Murder
A pageant committee member tries to force contestants to follow the rules. What contestants have to agree to is unbelievable. Sad results from all concerned. Primary character owns a house chicken. Loved the story development. Eager to read more in this series.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series and would have enjoyed this book much better if the author had written less about the misbehaving two boys of the main character’s accused friend. Everything else was enjoyable although I did guess the true murderer almost as soon as that character was more thoroughly introduced. I look forward to reading book #4

Another sad yet humorous chicken themed adventure, murder mystery, testimony of friendships and betrayals- with a bit of adult romance is a pain, and a clucking lot of chickens!

Very good book, well written. Despite the fact that there is a murder, this is a light and easy read. Hillary has a way of writing cozy mysteries that makes it easy to follow the stories. The characters are quite endearing.
