The Road to Hell #7

Kiss of Death

Aisling
Volunteering to work at the wall wasn’t my life’s goal, but in this new world, the dreams of old are things of the past... especially when I discover I’m part demon.

I embraced my demon side and the freedom it offered—until it led me straight to Hawk. Now I find myself bound to a man I don’t even know. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to process this new development before the horsemen and angels tear my world apart.

Hawk
It was only supposed to be a quick trip to the wall before returning to the Wilds... but meeting Aisling changed everything.

On the hunt for our enemies, I have no choice but to bring her with me into the Wilds. However, I wasn’t expecting our pursuit to lead us straight into the minotaur’s trap.

Now that we’re the hunted, can we escape its labyrinth and destroy the horsemen, or will we be lost in the maze forever?

The heroine completely ruined the story for me. It was going to be a DNF until someone told me to read the last 20% because Bael kicks some ass....and she did. Her choosen is def going to add a twist to the story and I'm extremely interested to see how the dynamics change because I'm not sure how all of them are going to live/survive together.

I'm glad that Davies incorporated a heroine who was as sexually free as Aisling was - she fully embraced her demon side but her actions - to me - showed that she would rather have all the demon sex she could than commit to her chosen. She didn't want to settle down at all and kept stating that she was young and wanted to yada yada yada. It was insulting and I feel like Hawk deserved so much more.

3.5 Aisling sucks and I want to be Bale when I grow up Stars!

So...I’m totally in the minority here and that’s okay. But honestly I have no idea how so many people enjoyed Aisling’s wishy washy personality. Hawk deserved so much better.

Aisling drove me up a wall. She didn’t want a chosen then she couldn’t fall for Hawk because it’s apparently the end of the world if he doesn’t fall for her too even though Hawk has done everything to convince her he wants her. Aisling was physically strong but weak willed and I would rather have it the other way around if I had to choose.

We have watched Hawk go from human to demon and accidentally enslaving a human in the process. We have watched him become slightly tormented with being a demon who survives off sex when he only wants is a family. And what does he get as a reword? A chosen who doesn’t want him and can’t make up her damn mind. He was my favorite character and he deserved so much better.

The reason behind my still decently high rating is:
1 Star because I loved Hawk
1 Star for the action and story line
1.5 Stars because Bale was f***ing awesome and now I cant wait for her story!!!

Firstly, Hawk is mine. I had to put that out there in case people were wondering.

I loved this character from the beginning. His journey from human to demon has been a perilous one, but it doesn't compare to the trials and tribulations he had to survive in this book. Since I received an early copy, I don't want to spoil it, but be prepared to be on the edge of your seat the entire book. Another great story by this author.

Page turning. Great world building!

This book will have you turning pages in the entire first 25% of the story. I loved it. The books in this series just keep getting better. I loved Hawk and I was so happy to see him find his Chosen. He is such a strong, great character. I really liked Ash’s character as well. She was strong, didn’t back down and took no crap. Their journey through the wilds was also page turning and edge of your seat stuff. I loved the crew that went with them as well. And OMG the Bale revelation was so exciting! I cannot wait to read that book. There is not one part that I did not enjoy is this story. Excellent job Brenda!

Sometimes it’s hard to be surprised by books when you’ve read so many. But this one was a big surprise! Full of action, plus all the romance. I love Hawk’s character. He’s a tormented soul, but still such a nice guy. Aisling isn’t just a fire demon, she’s spicy and tough. It was interesting to see them jump in headfirst to their relationship. And the ending. Wow. I mean I sat there thinking, “Hmm, I wonder. No that can’t be possible. Oh. My. Gosh.” Huge shock! I loved it!

So so SO very good! Another great addition to this spin off series! I love this author and her way of captivating me with her amazing world building and story telling! There was a big twist in this book that I did not see coming and even though I’m super skeptical about it.. I hope it works out and Brenda is able to give the next story the same flare this one had! Well done <3

Hawk has been one of my favorite male characters in this series.
He's endured so much. He's turned into a demon. A kind that he loathes to be. He loses his family. He's so brave and such a great warrior and he never seems to lose touch with his humanity which makes him such a lovable and great character.

There were quite a few moments in this story when I thought he deserved better than Ash and I was so glad and relieved when she finally turned around and their relationship started to evolve into something that we all know Hawk desperatly longed for.

The continued story line and the hunt for the horsemen was already exciting and then I hit the last 15% of the book. And oh boy ... what a wicked and exciting twist was thrown my way! For all of you that are not sure if want to finish this book - Please do! Something absolutely spectacular and wicked is coming your way. It is almost good enough to overwrite Hawk's story (which is kind of sad because Hawk deserved a more exciting story). I can't wait to see what impact this is going to have on the last book and how the story is going to end.

Bale - my fierce warrior princess - I'll be with you every step of the way. This better be awesome!

This story is about Hawk and Aisling. Hawk and the Wilders go back to the wall for supplies and to discuss what has happened in their absence to the king and queen. While at the wall, Hawk visits the hill and there he meets Aisling. Aisling is half human and demon. She can wield fire and see souls.

Their main objective in this story is to eliminate the horseman. They don't get much time to rest at the wall because they are invaded by fallen angels, horseman and craetons.

In search of the horseman they stumble upon the fog. The fog is a living entity which souls are pure evil. They also come upon a town where you can get in but not out. The force to be reckoned with there is the Minotaur and his labyrinth.

Books 1 through 3 are jam packed with story elements that are dramatic and adventurous. It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is a fast read because it is a page turner and leaves you wanting more. The next book is the final in the series and concentrated on Bale and the horseman, Wrath.

Absolutely LOVED Hawk’s story!! Ugh, my heart! This book was a total emotional roller coaster. Davies had me balling my eyes out! I always loved Hawk because he is a good person. Always there for his friends and lending a hand to anyone in need. It’s almost fitting that he was accidentally turned into an incubus given how handsome he is. I love his humor with his friends as well. But his past trauma was so utterly heartbreaking. I’m happy he found his chosen and love that he found happiness in a bleak world. Aisling was perfect for him. I love how she didn’t automatically give into the chosen bond. I’m glad they took their time getting to know each other. It was almost reminiscent to them dating had it been like old times. I appreciated that even as an incubus, Hawk respected her wishes and how he set his own boundaries.

As always, Meg Price was phenomenal! She does an exceptional job portraying each character. Her narration is so smooth and just tickles my brain in the right way. I blew through this series because I just couldn’t stop listening to it. Definite must have!

Edge of your seat action.....

Hawk and Aisling's story was amazing. The chemistry between them was explosive! Aisling and Hawk meet at the wall when Hawk returns from a mission. Hawk is instantly drawn to her. After a night of passion he now knows that she is his chosen. After they are attacked at the wall and many lives lost, a team sets out to locate the horsemen.

Hawk and Aisling share stories with each and their feelings for each other start to grow. They make it out of one trap to land in another. After careful planning they make an escape attempt from the labrynth. After their escape its successful they run into the horsemen and have to battle for their lives and survival.

This was another exceptional book in the series by Brenda. I cannot wait to read the next book, Bale and Wrath. I have a feeling that this book will be in epic end to the series!!

Horsemen, a Minotaur, a labyrinth made of regenerating plants, love, reuniting and twists you’ll never see coming!
Hawk has found his chosen! Neither one is prepared for it but it catches Aisling completely off guard! She’s very reluctant to accept a man she doesn’t know as her chosen.
Hawk reluctantly agrees to letting her join him and the others in the wilds. He knows there are dangers lurking in every shadow but he knows he can’t leave her behind.
Aisling has seen some crazy things since learning she’s a demon but the things she’s faced with are beyond anything she could’ve imagined!
You do not want to miss book 3 of the Hell on Earth series!

I’ve been waiting for more Hawk since we met him in The Road to Hell series. He and Corson are my two favorite secondary characters.

Getting inside the head of this human-turned-incubus was everything I hoped it would be. He’s noble and kind, despite being driven by his intense needs. Aisling is still a mystery to me, I want to know more about her unique abilities and where they come from. The development of their love story, within the backdrop of the battle at the Wall and through the Minotaur’s labyrinth didn’t feel rushed. With all the extra events going on, it could’ve so hats off to the author for keeping that delicate balance.

A story worthy of Hawk, a favorite character

I like Hawk as a character, so I was pleased to read the story that gives him his deserved Mate. I think a little more explanation would have been nice. Why and how a Mate to his particular type of Demon could avoid the past issues? How can a halfblood resist that deadly kiss? It just didn't seem very well thought out.

I did enjoy the arc of the story concerning the Minotaur. And the Horseman Wrath discovering a Mate among the enemy? Great twist. As always, adult reads due to sexual content. Bring on the next book!

Take THAT fog!

Hawk has finally got his Chosen which made me very happy. He's had a rougher go of it in the guilt stakes than the others, so he deserves every bit of happiness he gets now.

There were more run-ins with the Horsemen & Bale got one of the biggest shocks of the saga, so far. There hasn't been a bad or slow point anywhere in the series, which is pretty incredible given the length of it. I'm looking forward to the next book but I will be sorry to see the end of it, too. The final battle is against the worst of the Horsemen so you know it's going to be epic!

This follows Hawk as he travels back to the Wall, with survivors.
He needs to feed and he finds Aisling at a demon bonfire..
She was only looking for a night of passion, she thought she was in control, but Hawk realises she is his Chosen! He bites her, and she walks around with him and spends a day fighting with him before he realises she doesn’t know what being a Chosen pair means. She is less than happy when he explains it.
Eventually, she falls in love with him.

I love this series and enjoyed the plot continuing to unfold, and I was so happy for Hawk as his character is so interesting but has had such a tough journey.
But the romance felt somewhat random as it was never explored what they even really liked about each other as they were falling in love. It just felt less intentional and more disjointed than the previous books in the series.
The ending did set up the next book really well though and I can’t wait to read Bale’s story.

And again, another amazing book from Brenda K Davies. Each book is better than the one before it, and this one's little screwed up twist will continue in the next book. Which is where I am headed. Cause, yeah, screwed up twist??? Oh Bale........

Loved

Hawk and Aisling story was beautiful. Hawk had lost his family to Lucifer and longed for a chosen of his own. Ailing was coming to terms with her immortality and had no idea what a chosen was.
