I'm calling this the "Dumb Girl" series. I cannot find her ignorance quite unbelievable and the plot predictable. I've figured the ending by about 30% if I wasn't rolling my eyes before then. I read this book because I purchased it in good faith before reading the previous Cassie Vale book.
It was a good story, but it was quite similar to book one. It was also almost maddening how naive/ignorant the character of Cassie Vale is. Not the strong female character I like to see in books, so it was a bit disappointing in how the author decided to portray her. The fact that there is a 3rd book in this series, with another very similar synopsis, is almost exasperating to me.
The book was entertaining, and the author's writing mechanics were good. I feel certain that Cassie, the au pair, will be both elated and imperiled in the next booThank you, Blake Pierce, for the read.
If you can get past that so many bad things can happen to a single person, this is a well written story. Listened to the audiobook, the narrator's voice was enjoyable to listen to. This is the 2nd of a series & I intend to continue reading.
Acabo de comprar o "The Au Pair #3".
Now this is one crazy story for this poor, young, just trying to make it girl Cassandra Vale. After leaving her previous employer, Cassandra meets up with a friend who recommends a job for her with a family she worked for at one time. At first, Cassandra balks, as she is so not ready for another nanny position, but circumstances force her to call, and of course she ends up taking it. And this leads to one heck of a crazy, crazy ride. Not to mention, there is still backlash surrounding her from her previous job. I don’t want to give too much detail as it would be easy to give away too much since at this point both books so far are too intertwined. I enjoyed this book more than the first and I’m definitely looking forward to book # 3.
Cassie still finds herself living with a rather complex family although at the beginning they are all smiles and very friendly. Her broken psyche and low self esteem lead her to take wrong steps and assume wrong things about a relationship with her employer who is a compulsive liar. As in the previous book, she is highly dependant on her meds and when she doesn´t take them she is almost delirious and sees or hears things that are not there. The children in the family also hide their secrets and the plot will only totally unravel at the end. The main character - Cassie - seems to end this story much more self centered and reliable and definitely in search of healing from her past issues than before. Great entertaining!
After I read the first book, Almost Gone, I felt sympathy for Cassie and the things that she had gone through even though she was totally naïve and made a lot of stupid mistakes. I bought the second book so I decided to read it even though I was not thrilled with the first one. The second book was even worse than the first. I can’t imagine continuing to read a series like this where the main character is a weak person in need of therapy together with the medication she takes for her anxiety. Cassie had a terrible childhood and was dealt a bad hand but takes no responsibility for her issues or takes any action to change the course of her decisions. She continues to make the same mistakes over and over. Cassie is no longer sympathetic, she is patheti
IT SHOULD'VE REMAINED A NOVEL. I really loved the first one and was surprised not a lot of people liked it because I saw bad reviews on it after I had finished, so I assumed I'd like this one as well but there's no way someone can be this unlucky... Well maybe if you're dumb like Cassi. I literally found myself frustrated many times while listening to the audio. I would recommend the first book but not this one. Glad it was an audiobook and not physical because I would've thrown it and suffered while reading. Sad I wasted an audible credit though. I could've gone the rest of my life not reading this book because the first one ended well enough to not have a sequel.
Almost Lost (The Au Pair #2) was a great read by Blake Pierce. Cassandra is still reeling from the last placement in France. She meets a divorcee that is vacationing in the British countryside that puts out an ad for an au pair. Everything seems to go great until a startling revelation forces her to question the truths of her past, her employer and her sanity. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
A wonderful book and Katie Silverthorne is an awesome reader! I love her voice and how she reads the books I've listened to so far.
Cassie in the book is a little naive in this book, which is at points mind blowing but overall it's a great follow up on book 1. I'm very very curious about Jacky and her whereabouts and wonder if Cassie will ever be in touch with any of the children ever again. Looking forward to listening to book 3!
I agree with Vanessa H. Her review is below. This Cassandra gets dumber with each job she gets!!! I was hoping this was better than the first one. I won't even THINK about the third one in this series.
Blake Pierce I been reading his book for long time his one of my favorite writer, great book everyone and each always with great drama great detail the ended take you to level to get more books.
Blake you make my stomach very upset as I read each page knowing it’s too good to be true and that with youQ as writer there’s a twist somewhere soon!!🤪🤮
I read book 1 & 2 of The Au Pair Series, they were both eerie as expected can’t wait for the next😬
A great series,Cassie Vale is a wonderful character. And what she goes through is “tough”, There is sensitivity in child care, human feelings towards parental care and a great murder mystery.
What a great second book in this trilogy (I think I liked it better than the first). Ended a little too quickly for me but otherwise it was a great read!
I’m not sure I’ll finish this series. Cassie has to be the dullest blade in the drawer! Omg I was annoyed with her for most of the book (as I was in the first book, too). I just don’t think my blood pressure can take another installment in this series.
