Inferno #0.5-2.5

The Complete Inferno Series

Rate this book
The Sins of the Mother. The Decimation of the Daughter. The Depravity of the Father. The Determination of the Child. In this place of darkness, there is no hope, no love, no light-only the will to survive. My name is Luke Greene, but feel free to address me as Pater. Our little family love fest started with my mother, and you can call that crazy bitch Taylee. Don't worry about running into her, though-Mommy Dearest paid her way with me a long time ago. But my kids? I've taught them to love me the way a child should love their father. I've shown them that things are earned under my roof and not easily handed out. Before you judge me too harshly for how my family works, ask yourself this? Are you perfect or do you have sins too?If you've answered the latter, put down your stones, take a seat, and allow me to show you how a family should be fucking run. Welcome to my home.

DNF @ 30%

Not my cup of tea. At first, I thought I can do it but it’s darker than what I can go through…

I never knew I needed someone like Pater in my reading life. His family line should never have been allowed to procreate. The fact that we do have descendants roaming out in the wild leaves me both fascinated and turning green all at once.

Okay, so before I dive in let me start with DO NOT read in the order of the boxset. I 1000% recommend reading the prequel SPARKS as the third book in the set. Why you ask…well learning the darkly depraved being that is Pater before witnessing his creation is worth the wait. I find it better to hate him before you understand him.

This boxset spans generations. You’ll experience Pater as a father to Jocelyn and her brothers in INFERNO. Then we learned how Pater is a loving, caring, mildly compassionate grandfather. And when all the questions about ‘how someone can become so jaded’ form we’re treated to his origin story. Ultimately we witness Pater’s innate ability to be a softhearted great-grandfather and still a monster of epic proportions.

Yolanda will take you on an adventure and suck you in with this devilishly depraved story of what it means to keep a lineage pure and to stay loyalty to family above all else.

it is just weird, sick, medicore and boring.
And so, so repetitive. Even within the story.

It isn't well written.

I will say this - this is someone's nightmare, most people actually. And I don't get the point of writing this book. I also don't get the lack of real fighting spirit. One of them should have just pushed him into the basement.

Also, and here I'm sorry to burst another bubble, unimaginative and not as horrifying as it tries to portray itself.

Yuck.

DNF after the second half of the 2nd book. I couldn't take it. It was too dark, foul, and gruesome for me. I just feel bad for all the siblings and children in this book.

The introduction to a growing Inferno.

Like fire, it becomes alive. It consumes. It does not discriminate. Even when it ends, you still end up inhaling the smoke. The damage continues. Inevitable.

And embers. Embers are the most dangerous kinds. Potential energy that can so easily transform into kinetic energy.

What were you expecting when you entered into this inferno?

There are different kinds of story telling out there. The kind that weave tales, tries to imply that Murphy's law is in play, tries to weave the twists and turns and hold our attention and keep us guessing, cliffhangers ...

but sometimes we forget the other kind. The kind where it is just told from one perspective. Like in life, there are at least 3 parts to the story. What one goes through, what the other goes through, and the truth.

but alas, perspective is a person's reality, is it not?

did you come in as a reader who is just as depraved? one who feels: I needed more ... it should have been worse, I needed intricacies, more, more , more ...

makes me think of the viewers of a gladiator arena: awaiting more gore, more death, the worst of the worst, entertainment! ... because it's not you down there.

Hey, I'm not trying to offend anyone here. Just trying to open minds. Give you something to think about.

I feel that Yolanda Olson did a great job in telling the story from the perspective of the victims. No, we don't get into Luke's mind. It isn't that kind of story. It is not some omnipresence narration that tells us the ins and outs of everything that's going on and the master plan of it all.

Why does it matter if we get into Luke's mind or not? That isn't part of the tale here. The tale is what IS. What's HAPPENING. Those that are going through it. The view through their lens. Telephoto lens at that.

I grew up with at pretty psychotic father. I feel for these characters man. I truly do. I wish I didn't. It is not our job to understand the mind of Luke. This is about survival. You do not have the luxury of trying to "crack the code". Because if you forget to look both ways, it might be the last time you are ever able to look again.

shoot. there probably is no code. Luke is just Luke. Let's leave it as that.

In regards to fighting spirit. Let me tell you from experience... once you get beat down enough, mentally, physically, emotionally, all of it .. endlessly ... you teeter in the darkness. Standing on that fence where it only takes one step to just end it and find peace ... or step the other way and find some sort of reason for survival. Usual reasons are .. surviving for someone else.

I thought these guys found their reason. Never said they would succeed. Life aint fair, didn't we always hear that? and yes, it did go on and on. If you haven't experienced a hell that never ends... I think it's hard to understand. Sometimes these personal hells ... go on for years...go on for generations after generations. Isn't that where the term "break the cycle" hovers around? situations like these? even wars don't always end in a couple of years. Keep that in mind.

It made it more real to me. The way it was written. In your face. It is what it is. This is their story. This is what happened.

maybe I'm biased? my view on reality a little bit more distorted? but then again, I came into this series as an observer. And that's how I came out.

We each have our own opinions. That's cool. aint nothing against that.

but if you are going through the reader reviews before jumping in the fire, I hope you take my review into consideration.

So many opposing feelings!

I've never been so unsure of a rating and review as I am with this one. It's a mass of contradictions, that's for sure. I would rate it 3.75 stars, rounding up to 4. I'll start with my handy little warnings.

⚠️ Multigenerational incest. Physical and sexual abuse of children. Domestic abuse. Psychological terror (for the characters) and abuse.

So, why am I conflicted? Not sure I can decisively put a finger on it. 😂 And that kind of sums it up. I liked it, and I didn't. I found myself skipping ahead a little here and there, unsure if I would keep reading...and then found I couldn't stop as I wanted to know what happened.

It's horrible and it gets its hooks in you and keeps you reading. It makes you disgusted and uneasy, but also fascinated and intrigued.

Like I said, a mass of contradictions. Best way to describe it: 😕😟😮🤯😲😳😦😰😫🥺😱😖😭☠

If you like psychopaths, books that mess with you, and have a strong stomach and no triggers - give it a try.

Such a twisted, sordid, despicable story. I absolutely loved it, the author sure knows how to keep you interested and even forgetting how bad the monster Pater really is.

Inferno
Book 1 in the Inferno series, this is a a actually my re-read of the entire series. I rated them previously but will be reviewing them as well this time around.

Here we are introduced to Pater...the father...the patriarch... The man.

We see how he treats his daughter and sons and please oh please read responsibly.

This series is not for those with triggers or those faint at heart. The series is beyond dark romance, it is erotic horror at its finest.

Cincere
You know that saying about heaven really being a place on earth? Well hell is really a place on earth and it's in Pater's house.

Sparks
I am re-reading the entire series. The first time I was hungry for the series and read it fast and greedily. This time I am pacing myself and absorbing all that is the Inferno World.

This is a Luke's origin addition to the original series. We learn what happened to Luke that started him on his path of...destruction.

So although it was the 3rd book written it's a prequel and could be read first if you like chronological reading. This is also why you may see it listed as Book 0.5.

As with anything written by the Queen of Darkness or anything having to do with Inferno, read the warnings and read responsibly.

Embers
What do you say when you finish reading and sit there and wonder 1) WTF and 2) is it really over?

Darby was the queen of this hellhole, she watched her babies, she stood up for her babies, she knew how to manipulate for her babies.

But this is Pater we are talking about. The bloodline is so full of his DNA at this point, he already knows every move, every thought his kids will have.

I'll tell the end had me going for a minute, but as always our Queen of Darkness showers us with her blissful twists!

Pssst....did you know it's truly not over with this one....NOPE. Incendiary will be dropping soon along with a few more novellas to add to Pater's World

This is taboo sure, more fucked up then taboo. For the record I like both fucked up taboo, however it wasn’t easy for me to stay interested or follow along with. The way the story is told is to capitalize on the shock factor. We get the story and in depth introductions to who the characters are and then the last couple chapters we find out the mother had been fucking her son, or they’re all family...it leaves you with a “wait, WHAT?” Response. Again I’m all about some taboo and dark shit, but this was just more weird and unneeded.

description

description

Cherry.

Oh-M-Gee!

The depths that this author's mind plunges scares the fucking shit out of me! So much so that I couldn't stop reading. I desperately needed to know how deep she could go.

Have you ever fell on your ass so hard it literally takes your breath away? Well, that's how I felt. Yolanda Olson knocked me on my ass so many times I had to check for bruises.

I'm no stranger to fucked up and twisted, but these books plummet so deep I didn't think I'd reach the surface to grab a breath of air.

Pater is one fucked up dude! He's more than a monster, he's the fucking devil himself.
So why do I feel sorry for him??? Because every so often the flames that rage inside of him would diminish and the author gave you a sliver of the man he could have been... COULD HAVE BEEN! And that sliver was enough for the sorrow I felt to stomp out the hatred... BRIEFLY! Trust me it didn't last! I think the dictionary should take the meaning of the word nightmare and replace it with one word... PATER!

A lot of authors (in my opinion) take the risk to write something fucked up and twisted and they FAIL, but Olson took fucked up and twisted to another level and she NAILED IT! It's vile, it's sick, and it's 100% fucked up!

Do. Not. IGNORE the warnings!!! You may think you can handle the triggers, but let me give you a piece of advice... think of the worst possible trigger you THINK your mind can handle. Now multiply it by ten (just to give you a number) then sit back and think of the possibilities that times "ten" could be. If you cringe at the thought... move on, you can't handle this world. If you didn't cringe... good luck, don't say you weren't warned.

SERIES
DARK
TABOO
MESSED UP

Rating: 5 DARK & TWISTED STARS!!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

!!!WARNING!!!
These are dark psychological horror books and they will mess with you.
THEY ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!

I'm still processing.
Holy shit.
WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST READ?
Well, I'm still trying to recover from what I just read, but here we go.

Book 1: Brought us into this fucked up world with Jocelyn's POV.
Book 2: Showed us the corrupted mind of Pater.
Book 3: The end - a gut-wrenching conclusion to the story.

I devoured every single book in the series. I couldn't put it down.

Disturbing? Hell yes! This series is absolutely sickening!!
Twisted and fucked up?? Oh yeah.. I devoured every single page (while I was screaming FUCK NOOO! nooo no no no no!!!)

Did I enjoy it ? Yes... No... I'm not even sure... I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest and torn into very tiny shreds and stomped on...

Hummmm... Can a person go to HELL just by reading messed up books? though I already felt like I was in fucking hell while I was reading these books... it's called inferno after all *really fitting*

There is no way to describe these books... All I can say is that it's a must read.

Ohh and one last thing... Damn you, Pater. Damn you 💔😭

This series revolves around Pater (Luke) who is a deranged & violent man. The first two books I thought were a little better than the last two, only because the shock factor I think had wore off for me by then and felt a little repetitive. The first book follows Taylee (who is Luke’s mother) and Luke, which is a prequel to the series. I read it first, although it was published after Inferno. You get a glimpse into understanding a little of why Pater (Luke) has turned into a monster. Inferno follows Pater and it is a very graphic look inside his home told from the perspective of Jocelyn. Cinere gives you the story from Pater’s twisted and depraved mind. Embers is a continuation of the same world thru Darby’s perspective.

These books are NOT for everyone. They are filled with very taboo subjects, very graphic and violent. There is a fifth book out also by Yolanda in this same world but I have not yet read it. In addition to her books there are many more books by different author’s that are in the same Inferno World that Yolanda Olson has created. I plan to read those in the future. If you love really dark and taboo books then this is the series for you! I don’t want to say too much about the books, go in blind if you don’t have any triggers!

Oh my holy hell of dark twisted taboo. The beginning was just as shocking and twisted as the very end. Throughout the book you are just hoping the kids get the upper hand. Everyone wonders why they don't just band together and retaliate....hello. Them kids are fucking terrified and NEVER get a chance to even be together alone, long enough to form a plan. I thought this book was a great dark read taboo.

I don’t know where to start …

This was a horrifying story from beginning to end … I’ve never read about such a f**ked family in my life. As disturbing as it was I just couldn’t put it down. I had to know how it ended. This is a very sad tale of a vey damaged family that began with a man being abused by his own mother … this is not a normal read and you need to be prepared. I’m glad I read it and finished it but it has left a mark on me.

⭐️ 1/5 🔥1/5

This book is honestly not for me. It’s a very dark book with lots of trigger but it lacks of a real story.
We unfortunately have no point of view from Luke to know how or why he really turned this way which made it a huge miss for me. It makes the readers just read triggering events with no real background.
I might have liked it more and found the book more twisted if we had a strong point of view of Luke and what he really is thinking.

Overall, no real story to read.

The forbidden of all forbidden

I read some pretty pitch dark/black books...
this takes the cake in shock value.
Not for the weak of heart. Holy moly.
I was uncomfortable reading this yet I couldn’t put it down. I had to finish it and did in a few hours.

I don’t even know what to say. Still.. 5+ stars for the ultimate forbidden taboo story

I don't feel like I have much to say about this, if you have wandered down here and encounter this series, I assume you know what you're getting yourself into.
This is a terribly twisted, dark, and sad story about real human monsters and heavy trauma.
Despite the nature of the story, this one still is incredibly engaging and it sucks you right in if you're willing to hop onto the crazy train.

Inferno 5*****

I don't quite know where to start with this review as I'm still in shock about what I just read, holy hell on a cracker this is dark, its twisted, its depraved, its pure what the fecking hell in a book. I was chatting with the author a little bit as I read the first half and I'm pretty certain she was laughing her butt off at my reactions. She drags you into this book and holds you in a vice until the end. I could not put this down at all, I was horrified at some parts because lets face it head on and bluntly Pater is EVIL and fecked up and there is no avoiding that.

I loved the pace of it, its a fight for survival, its gritty and raw and not at all pretty, if it had been slow and drawn out I dont think it would have had quite the same effect, youre in a horror and you're trying to outrun the bad guy so are you going to walk? Nope, not happening. Jocelyn is such a desperate and clever character and I admired what she did to protect those she loves.

This review is all over the place, I think I'm going to need some time to recover from this psychological headfeck of a masterpiece. I think Yolanda may have reawakened the horror lover in me and I will definitely be reading more of her work.

Wicked!

Cinere 5*****

If you couldnt handle Inferno steer clear of this one, because Daddy Pater is back in all his twisted glory.

I had forgotten just how scary Daddy can be, because damn him to the fires of hell he is still so evil its almost mesmerising.

Still holds first place for most evil character I have ever read. It gives me chills just thinking about him. Wide eyed and terrified, but you don't run because he'll always catch you.

Darby, she is so sweet and innocent, and such a good little girl for her daddy, and yet all I wanted to do was scream at her to run.

Short and terrifying in a way that makes your skin crawl and your mind collapse. Yolanda has shaken me to the core once again with her words.

Its haunting me. I woke up the next morning and I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.

Sparks 5*****

An absolute shocker of a prequel! Yolanda Olson rips into your mind, takes all your previous preconceptions and reshapes them into something brand spanking new.

I'm as awed as I am horrified, and its the most bizarrely awesome feeling.

Embers 5*****

How does one even begin to review this epic and dark conclusion to such a twisted series? Unexpected, emotional, and an overall jaw dropper. Beyind my wildest expectations and the most perfect way for the series to end. It was everything I have come to love in this series and then some!

This is a series that should have me seriously questioning my sanity and morals for enjoying it so much. However, fear I left them both at the door when I first opened Inferno and sunk headfirst into this world.

I freely admit that my crazy little heart will always have a soft spot for Pater and the carefully woven insanity Yolanda Olson has created. I've been there since the beginning and simply had to be there for the bitter brutal end.

There's no way to warn you, to prepare you for this story. Read Inferno, Cinere and Sparks and know this intense series is finally burning down to Embers, with it turning my heart into ashes as I turned each page.

Good luck, because I can't put into words what's coming...you'll just have to read it.

I truly went into these books blind. I didn't realize that the previous three Kindle Unlimited I got were "Inferno World" novellas that tied into this series. So, I figured I might as well read the origins.
Normally, if I am going into a book blind (not knowing the story or the author), it takes me a bit to get around to reading it. Well, last night I realized that my Kindle Unlimited limit had been reached and if I wanted to get something new, I would have to return one. So, I looked for the quickest read, and this was it.

Whoo boy! I was not expecting what I got. I should have known by the authors who are writing the novellas, and the fact that they are also into deep, dark, taboo things. I was not expecting the level of taboo here, and the level of helplessness the characters went through. I do have to say one thing. If you go into this book blind, DO NOT read the synopsis. It gave away a big thing that if I hadn't read, I would never had figured out, and the "twist" would have been a bit better.

Now, what you need to know is this. If you read this book you must be comfortable with the taboo of incest, and not the "loving" kind, the kind of generational abuse perpetuated upon the daughters of men (in this case one man) that begins young, and ends when the daughter they created is old enough to be "trained" up to be next, and the mother is thrown down a hole and left to die.

There is psychological, and emotional blackmail, when loving siblings are used as hostages to ensure behavior, there is violence when the father finds fault (in everything) and enforces his rule.

Now, that being said, I loved this book. Don't know why, but it sucked me in and had me through to the end. I really loved not having a clue what was going to happen. Sick and twisted doesn't even begin to explain this book. However, there was more nuanced emotions, motivations and complex relationship dynamics. It was taboo for the sake of taboo, but it was a story about how far down the tree evil drips.

I returned the Kindle Unlimited omnibus and am about to read the novellas that are based on these stories.
