In the fourth Gully’s Fall book, Simon literally falls for Elissa. Out of a tree. Then, romance happens.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

Gully’s Fall is one of my fave Verdenius ‘verses : The setting, the friendships, the small town feel, I love it all. The banter between this set of friends is top notch and really lends a realistic feel to the ‘verse. Each time a new book rolls around, I look forward to seeing what’s going on in Gully’s Fall next. At the end of the book, I was left dying to know what’s up with Elissa’s brother Moz. From the description, I couldn’t help but picture the Mountain from Game of Thrones. You know, a less evil version of that :D which I’ll admit works well for me.

Simon’s a completely chill kind of hero : Strong, silent type is Simon to a T. He’s the rock upon which his friends depend on, the one with the smart advice when they’re being silly, but there hasn’t been alot said about what makes him tick. He’s the type of man who will save an old cat who has no one, and I thought he was just lovely.

Elissa is wound tighter than an old clock : For good reason, she’s spent most of her life suffocating under the weight of her parents’ expectations for her singing career. When the story begins, she’s decided to stand on her own two feet and start her own life away from them. I liked that she eventually gets to stand up for herself, even if there’s alot of . I would have liked to see a bit more of her relationship with her parents, and that it not be so disgustingly one-sided. They felt like a caricature, with no motivation other than to be conflict for Elissa.

Very character driven, not much action : Most of the “action” has to do with Arthur, the cat. That’s it. There’s no chases, wild antics. This is a soft, fuzzy blanket kind of read, which I like every once in a while.

There are sexy times (which let me say, the only quirk that distracts me on occasion is the language used - I can guarantee the following words are used in a Verdenius book love scene: carnal, hedonistic, concupiscence, prurience, and perineum). If you’re into a leisurely read, this is the kind of book for you. If you’re looking for “big” moments? Maybe not so much. If anything that would be my issue with this book is that there’s no real excitement. It’s very tame and so much goes on in Simon and Elissa’s heads, that their relationship takes a long time to develop.

The Bottom Line
I liked it. Even if it was a bit slow and not much action occurs, it was still an enjoyable read. Exactly what I’ve come to expect from Ms. Verdenius, I enjoyed my little visit to Gully’s Fall.

This book was a fantastic finish to the Gully's Fall series. So I think everyone has been wondering what Simon's story would be like and this was amazing, I didn't have any expectations for Simon's story I think because his character was so laid back and Elissa was perfect for him. I loved that Elissa was a strong character and she was a great addition to the rest of the gang, I thought that both Simon and Elissa has some very sad (in different ways) elements but I thought it gave the characters more depth - especially Simon. The usual humour we all love from Angela Verdenius was very present in this book and I am hanging out for Del's book, who I believe will meet her match with Moz... which is exciting because I was hoping he would get a book when I read about him in Adh and Scott's story. So I definitely would recommend this book, it really was fantastic and bring on Del and Moz!!

My favorite of the series. I loved Simon from all the other stories and glad we finally got to learn more about him. Elissa was a great addition to these crazy bunch of girls. I'm glad she was the one who ended up with him. I hope we get Del and Moz. Woohoo. Lis' parents are assholes and we need a spin off with Arthur and Tilly and Oscar and Jezebel. LOL. We finally got the wedding and it was perfect. Great ending to these group of friends until we can revist them again with Del.

fine.

there was a lot of drama for what amounted to just hanging up the phone on aint shit parents. didnt really need 75% of the book to pass before much forward momentum in relationship.

really enjoy the relationship between the friends group and cant wait to read del's book. dont know what elissa was talking about when she first met the girls and described them as crass, not politically correct and possibly offensive. if you can't talk openly with your friends at their big age then pack it in and go home to be boring by yourself.

Another great story! Those "Australian men" are strong, loyal and sensitive. YUM! Since I have read this story twice now, I was just wondering will there be a story about Farris?

I chose this rating because the characters are believable, the banter, is amusing and the pace of the story never slowed.

I liked this one, even if it's written with the same Verdenius stencil: mad cat loving people (because there aren't ANY other animals in this world) ice coffee and iced chocolate addicted people, Diet Coke addicts, men with "a body that is women's wet dream", "powerful legs in jean clad thighs", women with an "overblown hour glass figure", and so on. I liked Simon's attitude towards Elissa and I liked the fact that the typical BBW romance topic (very low self esteem caused by being fat) is not stamped in our faces every five or ten lines; Elissa has her issues with her family and herself, of course, but Verdenius shows it subtly and I thank that (it's definitely a change since her earlier books, my God). Simon, as the hero, is not taken out of the previous outline she made in the other novels, the one that made us readers know him a little, and I also thank that, we have a steady character. I would have only liked to know a bit more about him, more than what she said here, more than what she hinted. He's the male character of this Gully's Fall series that appeals to me the most.
I also liked that Moz was introduced and I hoped he would be hooked with Del (since he appears to be, you know, "the right man" for her) but I'll never know what happens there because Del is not a "voluptuous, rubenesque, plump, va- va boom" figured woman and therefore, she'll get no book of her own. Pity; she's a nice character. It would haven been nice to read her with Moz.
Moz would also be the next one lured to live in that piece of dusty and bushy heaven called Gully's Fall, a utopian place in which all hot men lust after fat women and care about their souls, and find their roundness a wonderful thing. But I'll never know, unless Del gains some weight and she gets her own book.

The banter gets annoying in some points, specially the ever present crude one among Dee, Del, Molly and Ash and Ryder. Too, too long those everlasting lists of names and such they call each other all the time. The long descriptions about what the cats like, what the cats hate, how the cats live annoyed me as well. I mean, come on. I rolled my eyes more than twice, they seemed passages taken from a "Cat Whisperer" pamphlet. Some details? yes. A treaty...? no.

Nice reading, I enjoyed it.

Angela Verdenius is on my top 5 list of favorite authors. I love her BBW series, because they are full of great friends, lots of fun, memorable characters, that are easy to relate to, and life changing moments in the characters' lives that help them grow as a person, with the addition of a little bit of action.
Gully's Fall, the newest series, has been all that as well. Simon, the laid back, always eating fireman, is in focus in Fly With Me. After meeting Elissa, Simon turns into the protective, possessive (in a nice way) alpha male, to all his friends delight. But there's more to Simon than what it seems at the first glance, there's a complex, loving, caring man under the laid back exterior.
Elissa has her troubles at home, and barely holding it together, when she arrives to town for her best friend's wedding. The one encounter in the past between Simon and Elissa, gives them something to build upon as friends, even though Simon is hoping for so much more. Even though Elissa is a big, beautiful woman, the issues she is having to deal with are more centered around her parents and her career, than her size and curves.
Simon and Elissa are so sweet together, the connection is real, the feelings are growing, and the attraction is strong between them. Simon adores everything about Elissa, and in his arms, she feels safe.
The circle of friends was as rowdy as they always have been, if not even more so, when it comes to the girls. I think the banter between the ladies took a step to the worse this time, and could have been toned down a bit.
More than before, the story was built around the characters, and their cats, there wasn't so much action as before.
But as always, visiting with the gang at the Gully's Fall is like meeting with old friends, I cherish reading these books, and like this one, saved it for my vacation this summer.

Ugh, I can't get enough of this series!

I love reading Simon's marvelous apetitte and Lissa's hesitation, mostly because I get to read him coaxed her bit by bit with his gentleness. What a man! I can't believe this series nearly reach the end. Gah, I really wish Angie continue to write books with this theme because seriously, her books are the only BBW romance I love! Sure, there are a lot of good books with this theme, but most of them, the heroines, are not as "chub" as I want them to be. And in the end, it's not exactly relatable. But Angie's writing? Perfect!

Overall, there's no complaint from me about this book. I just wish the closure between Lis and her parents AND her agent could be more detailed and I wish Simon would deck that dick of agent. Haha. The rest? I loved and loved it! Look forward to read Del get tamed! By Lissa's bro, maybe? Hmmmmmmmm.. Kya! <3

I have been waiting for Simon's story since the first Gully's Fall book, and boy was it worth the wait.
Simon is such an easy going and laid back guy, it was a big surprise to see him going all dominant (and I love it). Elissa came to Gully Falls for her best friend Ash's wedding has her own troubles to get thru. Her parents betrayal. And she needs to decide what to do with her life and Gully Fall is the place to be to decide. The attraction both of them have for each other is hot. Thank you Angela for another great book ! And one more to go in this series, Del's story. Angela Verdenius has become an auto buy author to me.

This is the way a BWW romance is supposed to be: there is of course a hot guy, steamy scenes (let's not forget the motorcycle ride) but we have also emotional scenes and lots of humor. Thank you again Angela Verdenius for writing those books. You have been become an auto buy author to me. It was great visiting all the Gully's Fall friends again. I can't wait to read your next book! Please hurry writing ;-)

Seems unfair that it's not possible to add another star to the rating...
Simon and Elissa are amazing together and we get to learn more about the somewhat secretive firefighter.
Furthermore, what I LOVE in Mrs Verdenius' writing is that you can't help but feel like you know the caracters but yet, they still surprise you and make you laugh.
Hope to see more of some of Gully's Fall people in the future and thank you Angela for another great book !

Fantastic

I have been looking forward to Simon's story since the first Gully's Fall book, and this was well worth the wait. Simon is so easy going and laid back, it was a pleasant surprise to see him going all dominant. His and Elissa's interactions together and with Arthur was the icing on the cake. Simply fantastic! Now, I can't wait to read Del's story...hope she and Moz are the theme.

This review is from: Fly with Me (Gully's Fall Book 4) (Kindle Edition)

Simon's turn. He meets Lis after listening to her sing and comforting her as she cries after learning of her parent's betrayal. Fast forward 2 months and Lis comes to Gully' s Falls for Ash and Scott's wedding and meets Simon again. She pretends to not know him and tender hearted and hard headed Simon sets out to woo the prickly songbird. Simon is my favourite GF character so happy to have his story told so well.

This whole series-"The Gully's Fall series" was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed every story and upon reading her website, it seems there is one more book to come, hopefully Del & Moz? I pray so and I cannot wait to read more. What a wonderful joy to have an excellent author write such alpha moving stories with humor, action and so much love for their mates. Great job, well done!

Good read

Fly with Me is the fourth book in this series, so it is nice to read about the easy going bachelor Simon finding love. The females in the book are hilarious.
