Marilize is an author of historical romance set in Cape Town, South Africa, but writes short stories inbetween for fun.

She used to comb the libraries and second-hand book sales for out-of-print copies of Afrikaans historical romance novels by authors such as Wille Martin and Ena Murray. She has always had a fascination for Cape Town history and Regency Romance, and thought to introduce the rest of the world to Regency-era Cape Town.

She's tried her hand at many different occupations, including working at a riding school as riding instructor, trail guide, stable manager, saddler, and horse handler on TV shows. She's worked as freelance typist, photographic assistant, maintenance contractor's assistant, Public Relations Consultant, and Administrative Assistant. These days she is a proud member of ROSA (Romance Writers' Organization of South Africa).

She lives with her husband and son in Muizenberg, Cape Town, and is currently hard at work on her next novel.

I was very disappointed that the writer did not do her research!

I started to read this book and in the first chapter the writer uses a 20th Century word. The time period of the story is the early 1800's, and at that time the word jogging did not exist. Jogging is a 20th Century word,it was first used in 1984. I stopped reading the book because I am a history and trivia buff. I lose interest in any book when modern words are used in a historical book. It started off as a good story. I hope some people enjoy it. My complain is that for people who do not know history, some of them will think that what ever is written about the time period is true. And that some people will think that a modern word was used in that time period.

A Historical romance with a sliver of intrigue as Benedict borrows Gezina to pose as his wife while attending a garden party for the prince and princess. Benedict could not be more impressed with her spy like abilities if he trained her himself. She is a natural with her charm and fierce spirit. All of that is lost when Gezina must return to her parents and Benedict is faced with what to say to her father.
HEA stories are my favorite and I enjoyed their journey to find theirs!

While not a fan of historical romance, this book kept me entertained enough on the treadmill to walk way past my time- not once, but three times. Needless to say I finished it in three sessions.

This is a truly enjoyable read that grabs your attention from page one and keeps it until you blow out the last satisfied breath. A nice light read with lots of humour and action so unique to the Dutch history. Will now buy the rest of the series.

Here's to a story that makes you think, makes you laugh and most importantly, keeps you turning the pages until the end. An easy-to-read book that will inspire you to pursue your dreams (like Gezina) and achieve more in your life. Oh, and did I say? Benedict is a lovable guy who stood up for his woman.
I received this copy to do an ARC read.
