A Time To Plant And A Time To Uproot is the second book in the Living River Ranch contemporary Christian romance series. All books written in this series follow Ecclesiastes 3:18 “A Time For Everything” If you like a cleanly written romance series with fully developed characters that move through a series of books, you will love the A Time For Everything Series.
Quick read, second in the Living River Ranch series. Based on an Ecclesiastes chapter of the Bible. We meet the people who are the staff and briefly a few of their clients. This ranch is helping to heal children and adults whose hearts are broken. I am going back to read the first one now, thought I read it before, but not sure.
This is a story of Belle. She had moved from the city to the ranch after seeing an ad in a newspaper.
Belle had a boyfriend, Reason who was coming to the ranch to see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, the big city boy had no interest in this small community. Their long distance relationship was not working.
Jake came to the ranch to help. His parents were not sure of his move.
Avery is working at the ranch. She has a daughter. Avery's husband was in the Army, and she was trying to find out what happened to him.
Jake lost a lot of buddies while over fighting in the war. He was trying to visit all the families of those that were lost. In talking with Avery, he discovered that Avery's husband was Sergeant Jesse Tomlim, one of his buddies.
God works in mysterious ways - bringing these to people together.
Jake's parents drove down to the ranch to surprise him. They made the decision to move closest to Jake and they loved the ranch.
Jacob Williams, an ex-army, now social worker, is recruited by Margaret Katzen (owner of Living River Ranch) to work on the ranch. After the war, he is seeking a new place to put down his roots and find peace in his heart and life.
He is immediately attracted to Belle Townsend, a therapist at the ranch who happens to be Margaret’s best friend. Unfortunately, Belle has a long-standing relationship with Reagon Harmsworth.
Jacob has a self-appointed commitment to deliver soldier letters to their widows and finds the recipient to the last message he has to offer on the ranch.
Can Jacob find happiness on the ranch, will he stay, can he find a forever love? Read and find out.

This is book two in the A Time For Everything series and it keeps drawing me in. I enjoyed Belle and Jake’s story even more than Margaret and Noah’s story. This is a continuing series and I’m looking forward to reading the future books. You will fall in love with all of these characters and wish you lived on the Living River Ranch in Little Bend, Michigan. A short and easy to read story based on love, respect, friendship and lots of work - hard work. What I find really amazing is how Everlee Whitman writes about a comunity that is so engaged in its principles and values that it attracts more people with the same approach in life and those that do not see eye to eye with it find it interesting but leave. Also the work with animals and sick children and adults are very important and is an integral part of the ranch´s life. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Loved the story about a ranch that helps people that have problems. They have their own crops, animals. They have therapists to help the children and adults. Jake goes there to work and him and Belle gets together. I recommend this book
Introduces Jake Williams as the new Social Worker. What becomes clear repeatedly is that the staff need healing and support just as much as do their clients. Any facility that fails to recognize this will suffer staff burn-out and turnover.
There’s a lot packed into this short book. God’s providence, trauma, family, romance... Some times it feels like everything is so dense and moves quickly, but there are good lessons.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review. Sometimes the person God has for us is not who we think it is. When we find it, though, we realize there is nothing better. Wrong things have to be uprooted and good things have to be planted. Very well done!
This story felt fast, but I’m encouraged to read more in this series to learn about Jake and Belle, among other characters! I loved that Jake uprooted and was ready to establish himself at the ranch right away. The more I read about Living River Ranch, the more I notice the astounding and miraculous place it is! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
