Sei thought she was summoned to another world completely by accident -- a bystander, a leftover, and most certainly not the Holy Saint of legends. After a short struggle, she'd finally found a happy place for herself as a potionmaker and enchanter. But thanks to her literally miraculous powers, no one can deny that Sei really is the mystical savior the world's been waiting for. Now there's a whole new struggle, first to hone her powers underneath the boyishly handsome Grand Magus Drewes, and then to navigate the political consequences of her saintly power. What will become of the lovestruck prince who foolishly backed Sei's rival Aira, or the poor girl herself, after failing to live up to everyone's expectations?
Between troubles with her magic and her apparent weakness to Albert’s existence, Sei can’t catch a break. But she’s doing loads better than Aira, the younger girl summoned along with her, who turns out to be as bad at adjusting as Sei is good at it…
This series needs to figure out what it wants to do with Sei - when it first started out she was taking no crap, but it feels like they’ve really worn down the edges on her lately. Partly she’s come to like the world more and made friends, I get that, but it may have lessened her slightly in terms of her own agency. Or maybe the story simply doesn’t go anywhere this volume.
And woe betide the manga that starts down the path of research in a magical realm because it often, well, is boring. And we get that a fair bit in this episode when Sei tries to make her healing power more potent. It at least leads to something a bit more related to the plot, but it’s a looooong path there.
Honestly, the best stuff comes from Aira’s trials at the magic school. Much like Sei, she did not want to come to a different world, but her adjustment isn’t going half as well. The prince who took a liking to her has basically coddled her into a state of learned helplessness.
There’s also a mounting number of people who recognize that there’s no way she’s the saint compared to Sei, including the aforementioned prince’s fiancé (we’ll ignore the incredibly yikes age of majority in this realm, because… yikes…).
It all adds up to Aira being especially put out and I like that she’s not yet especially villainous, just unfairly judged and crushed under expectation and assumption while acting out against it. She asked for none of this and is unwittingly being saddled with responsibilities that were never supposed to be hers to begin with.
That stuff works about as much as some of the Sei digressions don’t, although the fluffy tea party and etiquette stuff gives them lots of excuses for many costume changes. It still feels rather like they’re softening her up to an extent that isn’t strictly necessary, but again, it’s also not helped by nothing really happening.
3.5 stars and I’m not giving it the rounding up this time. It’s easily the weakest volume of the series to date, with all the interesting things being given over to somebody who isn’t even the main character.
Sei’s slowly stepping into her role as the true saint - experimenting with her saint magic, learning etiquette, and continuing to form bonds with those around her. We also get to see a sneak peak into what’s been going on with the other saint, Aira.
While I still love this series, this volume felt a little bit like filler and dedicated about half of the book to explaining Aira’s situation. Maybe I would have been more interested if I didn’t know that she has her own spinoff series and she wasn’t being sort of manipulated by Prince Kyle. Either way, I’m happy with Sei as the FMC for this series since we get to see more of her exploring this world’s magic.
I will say I am quite excited for the next volume where we should get to see how Sei handles potentially exorcising some demons and using her saint powers in different situations.
ALL THOSE CRUMBS OF ROMANCE WERE AMAZING!!!! *flails*
Not only did we get a SUPER cute one very early on, but then we got a SECOND one, and I was squealing/kicking my feet the whole time! EEEEEKKKK!
I will say that because of that, after I finished this volume, momentarily I thought the second half wasn't exciting. HOWEVER! I honestly think that is because of those crumbs we were fed so early on. LOL! Even though that was hands down my favorite part, I would also quickly say that seeing Liz again was one of my favorite parts too! Plus, Sei is "showcasing" so many beautiful dresses and outfits!
I didn't realize how long it had been since Liz had been on page and deeply appreciated the time of catching up with her! She is so very sweet and love her friendship with Sei because she doesn't pull any punches with sharing the things she knows. LOL! I wouldn't say she is blunt, but Sei is over here thinking she can hide her "inner saint" (my words, not hers) and "play dumb" (her words, not mine) when Liz already knew who she was from the start! LOL! It was sad seeing and hearing how Aira has affected her though.
And speaking of her, my heart really went out to Aira! I don't think I've disliked her prior to this volume, but I don't think I've really liked her either. While I still feel slightly neutral after seeing some of her backstory, my heart DID ache for what she's gone through. I was pretty shocked to know how young she is and think if I have an issue with anyone at this point, hands down it's the Prince. I won't go further into detail about that (because #spoilers), but HE is the issue here, not Aira.
I LOVEDDDDD one of those final moments with Sei before the volume ended! Seeing her share her heart openly (even if the reader is the only one hearing it) was very moving and made me want to hug her! <3 <3 <3
Also, YAY for Jude being on page this volume! Plus some fun experimenting that I enjoyed seeing!
Another great volume! Lots of romantic crumbs, some backstory, and some "leveling up" of Sei's abilities (at least I think!)!
I loved this series with the first two volumes, but it feels as i've been reading the last two volumes that nothing is really being accomplished. There were a couple of cute pages and some thinking about doing things and hints that something interesting could possibly happen at some point. Aria's single chapter which is honestly pulling all of the weight for this volume in terms of story, memorability, and causing me to care about what was happening, and which initially tempted me to rate this as a three star review because of what it adds to the series so far. But the rest of this book deserves two stars, a single well done chapter cant change this. I will read the next one, but if this trend of empty pages continues I will discontinue.
Snapshot review: i *adored* the scenes with sei and the general, and also getting to see more of aira's story; but the info dumps were getting to be a bit much.
I re-read the previous three volumes so I could come into #4 with a good background, and I did enjoy it. It also feels like this was something of a pause, though. We get some etiquette and some background on Aira, but the story's forward momentum eases up while we cover some of the background. I'm guessing because we're at the midpoint of the series (it looks like there's going to be seven books? Although I'm not sure) and they needed a breather from a story perspective. I really like Liz, and Prince Rayne was pretty awesome during the brief time he was on camera as well.
Now I need to wait untl March for book 5, which is my biggest complaint about the series. I wish I'd come to it after it was all released because unlike the title character, I do not have the patience of a Saint.
Sei is going all out with her studies while we also get a bit more of Aira's story thanks to Liz. Sei fits in well with the researchers though, especially as she gets yet another wild idea about how to use her magic and increase the effects of the potions. For all that she's struggled to find the answer, it seems her power comes through when she really needs it to, though can't say there was any dire need with the plants this time around like when she was healing the knights. If anything, it proves that she is both kind and caring at the center, and still really flustered and out of her depth when interacting with the commander and any sort of possible romantic interests.

This volume was a good read. It felt whole cute and Sei was very cute regarding in her relationships with other characters especially with Commander Hawke and Elizabeth which I particularly enjoyed. I was glad to see a bit more of Aira in this volume and how her story in the world got started. I hope her situation with the Crown Prince gets resolved soon and the misunderstandings about will be cleared. Highly recommended and can't wait to read the next one.
v cute scene in the beginning, between sei and her knight commander... (´꒳`)♡ we get some beautiful outfits in this one too, because of etiquette/dancing lessons.
also, we finally get aira's backstory....poor aira!!! I hope sei and liz can truly meet her and help her find some better friends soon...
minor cliffhanger in this one. did sei's saint powers do something crazy to the plants?? hopefully she's solved her puzzle!

In today's news: Sei learns to fast cast magic. Sei learns to dance. Sei attends a tea party. Special report: How is Aria doing? Sei tries to imbue magic into plants.
Basically, Sei is learning lots of things to try and improve herself and her ability to help people. I approve. Also, she and Albert have a moment and I'm sitting here hoping he isn't a secret bad guy because that would suck! But also be a good plot twist...
I was so happy to finally read this. Barnes and Nobles in North Carolina had it. I’m sad that they don’t have volume five then I could be all caught up.
We see more of Aira and her backstory. I feel so bad for her. I hope maybe her and Liz can be friends. And I want more scenes with Sei and The Commander.
Sei works on improving her magical ability so she can help the Knights and attends a tea party.
I continue to enjoy these books but it feels like it's spinning its wheels a bit. We need to get Sei on a foray into the forest so that the monster banishing can begin. I liked the etiquette lessons that ended with a dance with Albert and the tea party the most.
Sei has that effect on you. There was a long gap between last volume and current one for me, so I thought it would be difficult to adjust without re-reading. But after seeing Sei again, my heart warms up and I naturally root for her again.
Nothing like a plot where engaged men fawn all over a girl without any encouragement from her and all the fiancees blame the girl. Not to mention Sei accomplishing anything her heart to desires without the least bit of effort. This series is trash.
I love this series so much, it’s just excellent. The characters, the story, the illustrations… it’s just an absolute delight. Highly recommended. (Also check out the anime, which is really good too!)
This volume was super funny to read, meeting Yuri and his extreme fascination with Sei is too adorable.... like a lost puppy that finally found his favorite toy. Can't wait for her growing powers to grow more and to have her go on more adventures.

Honestly there’s not enough of Captain Hawk, and I deserve more of that kind good man. Sei could use a bit more pragmatism but that’ll come with time. I hope.
Albert is a charmer, Yuri is a meanie, and the prince is an idiot. I really feel sorry for Aira, away from her family and dependant to Kyle. If only Liz had the chance to really talk to her.
