Entering witness protection was supposed to end the threat on Jordan Kendrick’s life and protect her fiancé, Ben Graham—but now an assassin has found her. Ben is the only person she trusts, but he thinks she’s dead. When he learns the truth, can he help her expose her former employer’s deadly crimes…without costing both of them their lives?
If you are looking for a romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole book then look no further. Read this book and you won't be disappointed. I personally think a book like this makes it hard for me to write a review because I don't want to give the best parts away.
Jordan works for a pharmaceutical company helping them develop new drugs. They are working on one that has really bad side effects. The company wants to cover it up so they are currently trying to kill off the employees that could be witnesses as to what they have done.
Two of her colleagues have been killed already and she has been in the witness protection program until she was found. She leaves the program and returns home to her ex who thinks she was killed 9 months.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Deadly Cover-Up. I really enjoy Kathleen's stories and I'm always thrilled to get one in the mail. This story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.
Scientist Jordan Kendrick had gone into witness protection nine months ago. She was reported to have died. The witness protection hadn't worked out and now she is on the run. She goes to the grocery store only to notice a man that had tried to kill her a short time ago. She knocks over a tower of cans and runs for her life. The man chases her across the parking lot and into a highway. She makes it across with only a gun shot wound in her arm but the man is killed. She runs to the only safe place she knows. She goes to her fiance`. She had wanted to protect him but she couldn't do this on her own.
Deputy Sheriff Ben Graham came home after a very emotional day only to find Jordan standing in his home. He thought the only woman he loved was dead. He had edited the obituary, attended the funeral, and helped her family sort through her things. This couldn't be her. She told him things only she would know; this is the love of his life. She is in danger can he protect her?
A terrifying journey to survive her employer's deadly crimes. These two broken souls must stay ahead of the killers. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too; a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life.
I would put this at just slightly lower than a 3 for me. It's one where I could put it down for 2 days and not miss the story or want to find out what happened next, which is not my norm.
A friend sent me this book in a box of books. The part about the drug (what it was developed for, how it was tested, what they found, etc.) was interesting to me. I also liked that the two main characters (Jordan and Ben) had known each other for a while.
But I quickly wearied of the two of them not talking to each other. I get wanting to protect someone else. I get wanting to be independent. But . . . not in this case. It's too far reaching.
Also:
1. How did they get access to the safe deposit box? In most cases, I think you need to sign and your signature is compared to the signature card on file. You shouldn't be able to just show up with a key and access it. Even a law enforcement officer would probably be asked to show a warrant--and that wasn't mentioned at all.
2. As they're leaving the bank--with someone after Jordan--Ben is distracted by thoughts of her and their relationship. So no thought that someone might have followed them to the bank? No thought that someone might be targeting them at that moment? Doesn't seem too believable.
3. Later in the book, I think there's a typo because it reads to me that Jordan asks Ben if he wants to be in the interrogation room with himself--but Frank's the one in the interrogation room.
Great storyline! I'm pretty sure we've all wondered what it would be like to be in WITSEC and have it go wrong and this is a great example of a worst nightmare scenario haha. I loved Jordan's tenacity and determination to bring justice to her past coworkers. And now that I'm really questioning prescription medication made in any other country.... I'll leave you to read the story for yourself!
This book was really good. I enjoyed it very much. The author did a really good job. The book was exciting, with all the car chasing and the intriqueq.
I loved this book. The characters were believable and fresh. I loved the plot twist and turns, and I enjoyed were the story took us. I .definitely will be reading more by this author.
