Rate this book
What made you pick up this book? Perhaps you're wondering why your brand should be gay. Or maybe the pink covered book jacket grabbed your attention? Did the idea of uncovering the art and science of creating an authentic brand pique your curiosity? Maybe it's all of the above.

Whatever the case, the book made enough of an impression that you picked it up and are now reading these words. What this moment demonstrates is the idea behind what an authentic brand is all about—owning a perception in the marketplace that compels people to take action.

In Your Brand Should be Gay (Even if You're Not), Re Perez—seasoned Brand Strategist, keynote speaker, CEO and founder of Branding For The People—uses real-life case studies and behind-the-scenes stories to challenge your understanding of branding, demonstrate the transformational impact of authentic brands, and share his proven branding process that has helped his clients shift from unknown to celebrity-like status. Pre-revenue to multi-millionaire. Ashamed to proud. Outdated to cutting-edge. And, embarrassingly inauthentic to courageously authentic both in life and in business.

In the process of bootstrapping my business, I learned a lot about sales and marketing. On any subject, I could bring a framework to mind and explain why I was doing this or that. But when it came to branding, the whole thing seemed a bit nebulous to me. I sensed there was a powerful brand lurking somewhere in our messaging, but among all the scattered direct response campaigns and offers, there was no coherence to anything. That's why I decided to work directly with Re's company (Branding for the People) for a rebranding. Very shortly after starting the engagement, things started to finally come into clarity and alignment for us. I realized that, just like sales a marketing, there's a science and system to branding. Not only that, Branding is the throughline for EVERYTHING in the business, from sales and marketing to culture and operations. Reading Re's book now is putting things into even clearer perspective. It's also great to learn about the backstory behind the evolution of all of his insights. This book is a must-read for any entrepreneur who wants to take their business to next level

Beware: once you start reading it's hard to put it down, so clear your schedule.
Re is a true Brand Master and he's masterfully crafted a complete and comprehensive framework anyone can use to create, build and manage their brand along with interesting and fun stories that let the reader understand exactly how and why these frameworks actually work!
You're likely to be inspired to "Re" evaluate your current branding methodology.
They just don't teach this kind of brilliance in school. I, for one, really appreciated the "Re" education. Every agency should be using this book as a framework and every client should be using it to gain clear insight as to why branding matters.

If you are a business owner at any level, this book is a game changer in understanding the intersection of branding and marketing. If you take on the advice given to change, elevate, reevaluate your brand, you will absolutely grow your business. What I love most is that the book takes Fortune 500 brand strategy and applies it to the small business landscape. It's a must read if you have a business, are thinking about starting a business and want to know how to be a standout leader in your market.

The title was so intriguing that I was hoping to see more patterns between brands and the title. While that was a little letdown, this is a good reference for entrepreneurs - sort of a branding checklist that one can browse through. The author has included a lot of relatable stories of small businesses that reinforce various elements of brand building.

Misleading Title

Just another basic marketing book. Not really a book giving truly insightful information about branding to the Gay community or as a member of the Gay community.
