In a world with no law, there is little hope for survival
It’s been a little over two years since Judas infected the world. Mankind was no match for a virus with a stronger will to survive.
The sick wander aimlessly with a hunger that is never satisfied. The only hope for humanity lies within the immune. A group of survivors set out to rebuild in spite of the apocalypse, but they are faced with the reality that man is the most dangerous threat when they are no rules.
The immune survived Judas, but can they survive a violent world?
Paul Seiple is a best-selling author of the Project Specter Mystery Series and the Great Dying Post-Apocalyptic Series. His roots are in the horror and thriller genres. Occasionally, he will take a wrong turn and end up in other genres like science fiction.
Outside of creating dark stories, Paul is influenced by Crystal Pepsi, New Coke, Van Halen III (The Gary Cherone Minute), and Windows Vista. He believes Paul Stanley’s ’78 solo record was the best and misses Saved by the Bell: The College Years tremendously. Paul would like for you to be in his Myspace Top 8, but sadly, he can’t remember his password. But all is not lost.
This book (#3 in the Great Dying Series) was without a doubt my favorite of all. Books #1-2 were the build up to this high velocity, emotional, and character driven episode. How and why the Judas experiment (zombie epidemic cause) came into existence - and able to reap unfathomable devastation to humanity - was discussed in great depth. Traitors are revealed, hard losses are suffered, and selfless sacrifices made. There is also a ton of action packed gruesome zombie battles interspersed all throughout. . .plot flow is superbly orchestrated!
Alex Black did a nice job with the narration of all three books.
The Judas kiss has been gone for 2 years. The sick amble around. Two men know the truth. Alex Black was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'
A Violent World written by Paul Seiple is the third book in The Great Dying Series. This book takes place two years after Judas was set free upon Black Dog. The characters from book one and two are all tied into this book. The brothers were given a virus that they didn’t know about and that was how it all started. Judas is still evolving and fighting for survival. The immune isn’t only up against Judas but they’re up against bad people and the folks who created Judas.
The pros I would like to start off with is the momentum was picked back up in this book. I started to get that wave of emotion that I had in book one. I enjoyed that human conflict was important to survival as well as the infected evolving to look like they weren’t infected. The revealing of Maestro was a cool tie in with Melanie. The epilogue gave hope that the series wasn’t coming to an end and made me interested in what’s going to find out if another book was to be released. Melanie naming the farm Winston was a great touch for the fans who wanted Winston to live.
Cons I would start with is the telepathy I still don’t see why it was created maybe to communicate with the infected and control them end the end. I’m sure that an infected talked in the end and that is why I don’t think it was needed to add the telepathy. I wish we knew how Maestro found Melanie, it just seemed pretty far-fetched that Melanie was held up on a farm no one knew about and Maestro just happens to be in the neighborhood. I also wish we had a little more time on the farm we learned of it and the folks who were let in then that was it a new setting.
I received this book via Promo and I really enjoyed the series, If I had to listen to them again, I would only listen to the first and third book. I didn’t take a liking to the Narrator, usually they just grow on me, but he didn’t put me off to the point of not wanting to listen. The series ended with a twist and an expectation that Mitch and Maestro had a lot in plan. If another book is released, I’m looking forward to listening to it.
( Format : Audiobook ) "Fate leads the living and drags along the reluctant." Book three of the Great Dying trilogy, and, it just so happens, the first one I read. I'm not usually a great can of zombie type stories but this one so impressed me, I immediately went back to read books one and two. Because these living dead evolved. And the people, the food after which they lusted, were real, their fates undetermined. I found myself totally enthralled.
Narrationn, like the writing, was tight, well paced, full of just enough emotion, and Alex Black also gave good individual voicing to each character. A good performance. This is an excellently executed thriller, some gore, lots of action but very much about the people - and it even works as a stand alone, although I am very much looking forward to it's predecessors. The Last Days was a free download from the Free Audible Book Codes website: my thanks to the rights holder for making it available, without any obligation, to anyone requesting it. Recommended to anyone enjoying apocalyptic zombie stories, and even those who are not usually so keen.
