What happens when the fairytale isn't all you thought it would be?
All that glitters ain't gold.
Boy meets girl. Boy loves girl. Girl loves boy back. Life should be perfect, right? Even when you get your fairytale, trouble can come at you from all angles to throw off your happily ever after. Ev, Billy, and Kat have all faced trials and tribulations that would have broken weaker women. Now, each woman is working through her own issues and learning to live within her new normal. Being constantly thrust into the spotlight means having to watch out for those praying for your downfall. With secrets being kept on all sides, in the end, love may not be enough to restore trust once it's broken.
Nick & Ev—the love, the VOWS 😍 Coby & Mina—their journey together, finding answers that they’ve been searching for.
This book is where I really took notice of Kat & saw that Malcolm isn’t everything I thought he was. It’s too easy to judge Kat for what you think you know about her but that’s not the whole story.
Bryan—his mouth was too slick for someone that could easily get popped in it.
To understand this book, I recommend reading book one & two,
Each story pulls me deeper into the abyss of delight. The characters and the story are like...Real life. The orphans endured a lot and came out somewhat in tact. There is still a lot to unpack as each story unfolds. I am ready.
Ev and Nick will always have my heart. Always. Their vows? I will be rereading their story again! Love them😭 Nick was so happy to finally start a family with Ev🥺 Billy is exactly what Jacoby needed. This book also introduced Kat and Malcom and boi you are in for a ride! Kat is so different from what she “seemed” to be.

I don’t know where to start. This crew has my heart, even the side line players like Roxy and Antawn. Ev & Nick, Billy & Coby, and this crew are career goals, relationship goals, honey just #goals!
This series has sucked me in and I need to see what’s going on with Bryan...although I hate him right now. What in the world is happening with Kat and Malcolm, and I need to see how Rye and Antawn make out. So I definitely give it 5 stars when I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen with the rest of the crew😉.
Take it from me, take time and read this series!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved cstching up on this group of family/friends. Nick and Ev,. Mina and Coby Angie and Malikb❤❤❤. We all need friends like Roxy and Antwan. It was great seeing Kelly get what she deserved in court and hopefully in the next book that jerk Ladson will get his. I knew there was something deep goibg on with Kat and Malcolm, realy looking forward to that story as well as finding out exactly what is going on with Bryan. I do recommend this book, but read books 1&2 in the series first. Anxiously waiting for the next book in this series. 5:star❤❤❤❤❤
This book definitely gave me some things that I needed answers to. I loved getting to know more about Jacoby and exactly how he ended up in his situation. It really shed a light on his situation and even the uncovering of something deeper to know that his parents really loved each other and that they didn't mean for him to end up Eventually being adopted was great. Seeing him and Wilhelmina find their fitting together was definitely beautiful, knowing that he really wanted to propose but wanted to make sure it was like the most perfect proposal was beautiful and the way he did it was exactly how it should have gone. Evangeline and Dominick's Wedding was beautiful vows beautiful. I did like how EV was really trying to find her footing with being in the spotlight so much and that she was trying to keep it together but eventually was like y'all gonna stop trying me girl yes that's what I mean standing up for yourself. The cat and Malcolm thing coming to a head I was like Damn she read him for filth because how are you not letting go of who she was she's trying to do better and you are stuck in your feelings now I know there's something deeper with them but I didn't like how he was coming out the side of his neck at her and I would have put his **** **** out to. Brian is also on my sheet list because**** ain't you black, I know you guys himself hate because of who your parents are but that don't mean you dog out your best friend of forever because of your problems. Now I'm all listened to Miss Monroe and believe that I might kind of like him come his book but it's far-fetched for me because I hold on the pettiness when I get mad at a character I don't care how much they try to make up for it. Cause he definitely got some groveling to do with literally every other PERSON that he opened his dumb mouth to on some BS. Antoine whatever you didn't did RYE you better fix it, Definitely can't wait to start the first book in the desperado series to see what goes down with them. I think I've solidified that the second book in this series which is asylum is my favorite Jacoby and Billy will always be my favorite couple followed by Evangel and Nick.

To all you Black Romance readers out there... who don't wanna be with a book where the MMCs be... all up in there not claiming their women....all up in there not sexing down their girl good, dancin' in silence when their girl is disrespected...then come to Dandridge Monroe's universe!
One thing a Dandridge Monroe book will do is have a MMC who is bout it bout it over his, the #ProtectiveMMC is on lock and here in Deception is no exception (except for Malcom but that gets resolved in the next book, hopefully). We watch a lot a lot of growth for our little orphans, starting with the kick-off couple Ev aka Ev-Angel aka Prism aka Evangeline, and her boo Nick, aka Dominick, aka Dominator, our baseball star guru. Ev is dragging her feet to set a date for a wedding, and Nick is over it, lovingly, of course. He wants to lock his girl down. Jacoby aka Doux-Doux aka Albino African Viking aka Grayson aka Murda and his girl Mina make several appearances. With Murda trying to emotionally handle the fall out from Book 2 where Mina could have gotten SA to Mina, being all secretive trying to Sherlock Holmes his past and identity. These are my confessions 🎶I never read Book 1 in the Orphans series 😳 but I was able to fully keep up with Ev-Angel and her Dominator. Kat and Malcolm's relationship dynamic was easy to ascertain. And I liked that Book 3 picked up the aftermath of Jacoby and Mina's book, so their storylines here were a little less frequent as a good balance with the other couple's drama.

It was good to see more about Nick, Ev, Mina, and Coby. I was hoping to learn more about Coby's family.
The switching between characters was beautiful.
The part that kept throwing me off in each book, is Brentwood. As an LA native, I know our Brentwood is too densely populated to have a vineyard. So I researched it and CA has 2 cities named Brentwood. The NorCal Brentwood is known for it's vineyards. This to say that it detracted from the book for me. I'm a literal reader. What I read is what I internalize.
The author is an extremely smart and talented woman. Little things like that throw my imagination off.
Baby when I tell you I love this series down. Nick and Ev and Coby and Mina give me all the feels. I still can’t deal with Bryan but I see him at least trying to redeem himself a little. I am interested in Malcolm and Kat’s story since the foundation is laid even though Fidris getting on my nerves with that slick mouth and self righteous attitude already. The wedding was beautiful and I love Nick Harrison he is the blue print for a book bae. Great job! Your pen is immaculate as always.
There was so much going on in this book it’s hard to put all my thoughts into words. This group of friends/family definitely went through some heavy stuff and most of them still came out on top. I still don’t like Bryan. I hate that we never got to learn what his real problem was. I do not like Malcom… he actually disgusts me right along with Bryan and Sal. Jacoby and Nick are still the best men in this series ! I love black love !
Now why Malcolm couldn’t just say that. To mistreat Kat because his feelings were hurt was crazy but realistic. Use your words Malcom and tell her how you really feel. I really think it’s too late though.
I’m glad Ev put those snobbish people in their place just like Billy go Kelly aka Karen back did what she did. Those scenes were my favorite.
Read about the complexities of these couples as they continue to be in the public eye, reading the savageness of the public, and their cruelty.
Find out who will be able to handle the public, and making the public subjective opinions play a part in their everyday lives. Will Coby get closer to finding out about his past!!! Take a roller coaster ride with these couples to find out.
I was hoping all my questions would be answered in this book, but they weren't. I didn't get what was the real deal with Bryan. What about finding Murda's father?.? Evie tough girl act can calm down some. Malcolm has made me upset.
It was nice to catch up with the orphans and watch them traverse through life. I appreciate the authors connection to the plight of black women. I have to say that Malcom and Bryan have completely turned me off in this book.
Loved getting an update on Coby and Mina as well as seeing them settle some stuff and get to a better place . I also loved seeing Ev and Dominick get married and just be happy . The set up of Malcom and Kat's story was also surprising to see . I look forward to reading their story.
So glad there is one more book I need more like who is Coby daddy like what really happened? Will we ever know? Malcom and Kat I just gotta know how this ends!
I think my favorite couple of this series is Coby and Mina but Nick is going to be my favorite guy. The way all of them love each other is just so real. I need for all of this to be wrapped up because my emotions are in a turmoil that I cannot regulate.
Loved the couples and their friends and families. Enjoyed their activities and adventures. The story and characters were so interesting I was willing to overlook the subpar editing/proofreading.
