Dakota Macks
The biggest and tallest guy with the Knights of Havoc MC's Nomads, he was a brute and an A**hole. As the MC's enforcer and the MC's President's good friend, he traveled from town to town on his Harley along with his band of brothers. He works with his fists when wanted and with his gun when needed.

Women come and go. They didn't stay because he didn't want them to stay. That, of course, changed the moment he had his arms wrapped around the little minx that throws a beer bottle at his club President's head.

She was small and sexy versus his big and brawn. She was fire and fury. She was beautiful and good. Most of all, she needed help. The epitome of a damsel in distress.

Mercy "Minx" DeMarcus
Ten years, she's waited for her big brother to come to her rescue. When he and his band of savages finally arrive, she greets him by throwing a beer bottle at his head. That, of course, brings her in the crosshair of the Knights of Havoc MC's enforcer.

The tallest man she's ever seen turns into the gentlest giant she's ever known. Too inexperienced to turn the brute away and too curious to walk herself away, she's caught in a current she can't fight. To top it off, she's in trouble, deep. Of course, he'd step in to help her. He was the club's enforcer, after all.

But will he stay when he finds out about her past? As a man deep in his cut, can he overlook a past so damaged?

**This is the first book of the Knights of Havoc MC series. This book has triggers and may be unsuitable for someone under 18 years of age. This story has its own HEA. No cliffhanger, however, characters do weave in and out of each other's stories.

I actually really loved this book. the series has so much potential and i shall certainly read book 2 whenever that next comes out. Liked the storyline, the characters and the two mc's-

warning there is an attempted rape and there are discussions about previous gang rape, torture and sex slave activity.

Okay so here's my issues with the book:

i feel like i've missed a book as it keeps referring to the ex reapers maddox and austin. it just wasn't explained enough how they left the reapers etc and how they formed a relationship with minx.

so grammar issues: just really really poor editing. queue v cue etc- sloppy.

BUT what really pisses me off, they have tuckers old lady and daughter and they pussy foot about and don't go and rescue her straight away even they know she's been sexually abused, wtf????. how the fuck can he eat and drink and party when his child and old lady is being abused? what a goddamn wimpy mc club and set of bikers if ever i saw one.

and whats with kendell constantly trying to grab dakota and he doesnt tell her to fuck off and never touch him again, instead he just pansy arsed swipes her hand away? hell no.. what a dick!

also its confusing at times who is talking or which pov it is. often the author writes a two person convo and then the pov changes and we don't know who is talking. annoying.

grrr so dakota tells minx he doesnt know if hes staying after she's almost gang raped and beaten? wtf what a dickhead.

...and dakotas ex old lady returns after 7 years and he still gives her money to settle her? wtf I mean who does that? Dakota is a dick and i've never seen a more unlikely enforcer in my life!!!! not once do we see him act like an enforcer!

notwithstanding all my moaning, i STILL really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next one!!!

But please AV get a decent editor!!!! or even someone who has a high level of English and can correct really simple, easy grammatical errors.

As an authentic Old Lady (First Lady) from the actual Knights of Havoc MC based in South Dakota I find it extremely disrespectful that someone would use our club name for such garbage!! I'm very offended at the image this book leaves about the MC community especially my boyfriend's club. The Author should have done her research on how REAL MCs opperate or at least researched legit MCs and asked permission to use their name. A club name is VERY sacred in the MC world and many brothers and old ladies wear their patches proudly!!! It can be compared to a soldier wearing his uniform. My club does a lot of community work and to have this stigma tied to our club's name is appalling. Please consider changing the name of the book and DO YOUR research BEFORE you title a book!!!

I thought this book could have been so much better. For one I hate books that are written in 3rd person, it was hard to keep up with who was speaking. The characters lacked depth in their back stories and i think this also comes from the third person perspective as you had little to no insight on what was going on in there heads aside from "i want her" and "i want him".
For such a graphic and traumatising experience the H went through it lacked depth and had no emotion behind it.

Overall, it was okay. I pushed through at times but ultimately belived that it could have been much better.

Still needs an editor

Let me start by saying this story starts typical MC style with some of the main guys including the H, Dakota, messing with other women getting BJs. Once the H, meets Minx right after this, THERE IS NO CHEATING, he is full on into her and does not entertain other women. So once you get past like the first two pages, you’re good to go. Was there a club sl*t still interested in him? Yes. Did he play with that? NO!
This story had a fairly interesting storyline for an MC book. The heroine, Mercy / Minx was likable and I enjoyed that she rode a bike. She’s one of the better heroines I’ve read lately and I didn’t want to slap her.
The H, Dakota, was really good. I enjoyed how he was affectionate and kind to Minx. He never yelled at her and fell in love with her. I didn’t not like that he really did not get a part in the book where his role as enforcer was shown or high lighted. This seemed odd. But the story seemed to be more centered on Minx.
This book still desperately needs an Editor! The writing style in 3rd POV proved hard to get into. And I stuck with it simply out of curiosity, but I know some other women who just gave up on it due to editing, grammar and POV issues in the writing.
The old ex trying to sniff around again was pointless.
I wish Dakota would have thought on his actions soooner in the book that he would stay with Minx even if the nomads all left. He did end up saying that he would have likely stayed anyways, but still. I don’t like how the guys always put the “cut” above all else, usually that includes their women too. That’s one of my pet peeves with MC books.
I did not like the brother, Tucker, even though he later in the book admitted he felt bad about what happened to Minx when he left. I just can’t find myself wanting to forgive or like him for leaving for ten whole years. What kind of person stays away THAT long without zero contact? So while I liked the H and h, the brother sort of put a damper on the book. I hope he does NOT get a book. Besides we already know his story.
There is a super sad area of the book where a secondary character gets hurt, it had be in tears.
There is mention in this book of the heroines previous abuse / rape in the past. But she is not raped IN this book or during the books current time frame. So in that regard, it’s safe.
The mention of the other MC club hurting the dog when she was a teenager twice when she tells them about her past was horrible and while brief, I wish it had not been included in the book. It made me really hate the other MC group and then their end was not nearly as violent or satisfying enough for what they had done.

Good MC Book to Read

So... I have read many of the reviews left by others, always interesting to see what everyone else thought. Some really loved it and others didn't. But from what I have gathered, the ones who didn't like the book had the same issues over and over:

1. The book needs editing, or don't like reading in the 3rd POV.
2. Some were offended by the rape/sex slave storyline.
3. Some don't like 'instantaneous' love, or love at first sight.

All that being said, if those types of things do not bother you, then read the book, because its got a really good story going on. For me, I have fallen in love with Amazons book borrowing policy because it has allowed me to find new authors and read books I probably would have never even picked up at a book store. in fact the only 'romance' novels I would read were of Scottish Highlanders! But then I was browsing through the kindle books one day and came across an entire genre of MC Romance novels... I had NO idea! I love motorcycles and beautiful sweet badboys… PERFECT! Here are 3 reasons why you should read the book:

1. She has written a very interesting storyline. (And its a real life storyline unfortunately).
2. The female lead is not a princess.
3. The male lead is not a caveman.

I honestly believe her books will continue to get better and better, and this one was not bad.

Safety: hero gets bj from ow before meeting heroine but he pushes her away before she can finish, after meeting the h he is faithful and there is no cheating, there is a club slut who tries to cause some drama but it isn’t really bad, his ex girlfriend shows up at the end and tries to get him back but he’s all in with the heroine, there is attempted rape on page and a lot of violence,

The writing got me really confused. Sometimes I didn’t know who was talking.

What bothered me the most was the heroines brother, the president of the club. I just couldn’t believe what he did and how easily the h and his old lady forgave him. He left 10 years ago to be a nomad with his club. And he left his little 16-years-old sister (the heroine) and his PREGNANT old lady behind. He thought they could support each other. It was always his dream to travel with his club so he just left and also took some money from a rival club. This rival club of course came and took his sister and his pregnant lady. His sister was held in a cage for two years and was raped and beaten over and over again. She had to fight for food with other girls. When she turned 18 , she had to run drugs for the club. His old lady gave birth to the baby in the rival club and was the sex slave for the president for 10 years!!!! So when the heroines brother left, he never, not once, reached out to them and he thought that because they never reached out to him, they have moved on. So he „got carried away“ and never came back ( yes he got carried away with a lot of ow while his old lady was being held as a sex slave). He didn’t even reached out to know about his child. The first thing back in town was to get a drink and a blowjob from a club slut. AND they have club sluts traveling with them, but he couldn’t take his sister and pregnant woman with them? They forgave him way too easily:

(Tucker: heroines brother, tricia: his old lady, bianca: their daughter, minx: heroine)

“Tricia,” Tucker begins to say.  “I-I don’t know the words to say.  I fucked up.  I fucked up so badly.” “When we were together, I knew I’d come second to the cut.  I was okay with that.  I was okay with raising Bianca alone and even Minx,” Tricia says.  “There are people out there who live a lifetime not knowing the kind of love I had for you.  It wasn’t the kind of love to possess.  I was happy because you were happy doing what you love to do.  We just...we just didn’t know this would happen.” “I don’t know what to say,” Tucker says. “I don’t hate you.  I don’t hold anything against you.  I’m extremely thankful that you helped us.  You and me are good, Tucker.  Your relationship with your daughter and your relationship with your sister are what you should focus on mending.  One wants to know you so much, it hurts her.  The other’s been broken by the amount of love and admiration she has for you.” “Thank you, Tricia.  You always did get me, didn’t you?”

Garbage- get an editor

I recently read another book by this author and while the other one had some issues this one takes the cake. The plot line just seems meh, the characters were alright. I’m sure the author got the ambiance of biker life right but it got a little disturbing. I’m not 100% but this book needs to come with a warning with dark themes of sex slavery and graphic scenes of a rape that was going to happen but didn’t. It didn’t bother me too much but for others who knows?

There were an absurd amount of grammatical errors that if I bought this book, I’d be ticked that it’s this poorly edited. There’s talent in certain aspects of this writer but a creative writing style is not one of them. I don’t like to be told what’s going on through everything I like to imagine and visualize (she wrote another book that has the same problems see my review for that to truly understand). Disappointing.

Had to stop reading

I found this book hard to read with all the over use pronouns. I'd have to stop a number of times to see who the "he" was referring to. I felt the author wasn't consistent. I didn't like how after getting a beating, knowing that and worse could be happening to a woman and possibly a child the author throws in a swimming party. Just didnt mesh for me. I felt like there were similar pieces the same as a couple other MC books. Mostly for me it was the sentence structure and constantly having to double check who was being referred to. Maybe it got better but I'm good.

MC Club/Instalove/Abuse

SYNOPSIS: The FC, Mercy, is the sister of Tucker the president of the Knights of Havoc MC Nomads. 10 years previously her brother had skipped town leaving her and his pregnant girlfriend whilst taking off with money belonging to a rival MC club. The result was that for the past 10 years Tucker’s girlfriend and daughter have been prisoners of the president of the rival MC. Mercy, who suffered years of sexual abuse at the hands of the rival president has spent the past 8 years, since escaping from him, still having to do his bidding unless she wanted to see her niece hurt. Tucker suddenly returns with the rest of his nomad MC and Dakota is his enforcer. There is insta attraction between Dakota and Mercy and the story simply covers their relationship and how Mercy and her niece get free of the rival gang.

Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆🍆 There is plenty of spice and hot scenes pretty much for the get go. Unfortunately the dynamic didn’t work for me. For example, after first orgasm the MC says “you owe me one” - really? Reciprocation/keeping score? That’s romantic – not. Then there’s the fact that the FC is happy to go bareback without even a question despite knowing Dakota is a biker who has been with a lot of women who have been with a lot of other men 🤢

Let me say that I very much enjoyed this author’s original story with the King Family. Whilst her grammar and writing style are not the best those books were enjoyable and the story was unique enough. This book, however, is dreadful. There are editing, grammatical and spelling issues galore which are beyond irritating. I mean, what is a “chaise lounge project”? It’s either a “chaise longue” or not and it’s unclear what the project is! The start of the book is beyond confusing with changes in tense and too many pronouns being used without it being clear to whom they actually relate. One minute they’re in a bar and the next they are in a club house? Further, the basis for the story is completely irredeemable which results in none of the characters, including Dakota, being redeemable. I understand that MCs are supposed to be misogynistic, chauvinistic ar$%holes (which is why I rarely read this genre and don’t understand women who like this type of MC – but each to their own) however the complete lack of sympathy, guilt or caring on the part of any of the male characters is unbelievable.

The basis of this story is the return of the FC’s brother with his MC after he and his MC buddies abandoned the FC and the girlfriend 10 years prior. During that time the FC and girlfriend have suffered terrible physical and sexual abuse as a result of the brother’s actions. There is no explanation as to why the brother never, at any point, tried to contact his sister or girlfriend during the past 10 years despite knowing the girlfriend was pregnant and there’s no real remorse or guilt felt by any of the men when they discover what the FC and the girlfriend have been through (and continue to go through). It is truly disgusting and the men are pathetic. Even though Dakota was not one of the men who left the FC when he does find out what happened there is little in the way of sympathy or him standing up for her and what she is still going through. No, the MC Club comes first 😠

Then there’s the FC. You don’t really get a clear understanding of how she escaped from the rival MC or why they allowed her to go despite them knowing where she went and the fact that they make her continue to work for them. You are told that the FC spent at least 2 years from the age of 16 being kept in a cage and sexually abused yet. (The author doesn’t blend this gradually into the story but has the FC happy to just tell seemingly everyone what happened to her at the drop of a hat. For me, this method of providing backstory lacks depth and credibility). There are no real signs of the after effects of that abuse as the FC leaps into bed with the MC within minutes of meeting him and seems to have no hang ups over sex or men. The author seems to think that this is explained by the fact that she had years of therapy after what she went through but even so, you cannot tell me that someone who went through what she did would be acting so happy and cheerfully jumping into bed with strange men with seemingly no deep trauma? That is just beyond unrealistic. It’s like the author wanted to add depth and darkness to the character by giving her a horrific backstory but not actually have to deal with how the consequences should really affect her in the story. To me this is lazy writing which trivialises the real effect of sexual and physical abuse which some women go through. I feel if an author is going to use such weighty topics for their story then they should treat them with the respect they deserve.

This whole book is just too chauvinistic for me. The FC is the one that was done a massive wrong yet she’s the one letting the MC take over her home and call the shots, she’s the one running around like a puppy pandering to them and being grateful that Dakota even looks her way. Unfortunately she is beyond pathetic and weak and, as mentioned above, the men just come across as unfeeling, selfish ar%$holes.

Tricia’s, (the brother’s girlfriend) speech after the climax that she doesn’t hold anything against Tucker despite everything she has been through and the fact he did not try to see her or her daughter in 10 years is sickening and so beyond anti feminist that I wonder about this author. Tricia is portrayed as pathetically grateful for Tucker saving her (and his) daughter😖 – I mean really? She was abandoned and she and her daughter suffered for his sins and she’s GRATEFUL that he saved them??? Then, to cap it all, suddenly the brother can’t be separated from his daughter because “he’s missed so much time with her”? Whose fault is that? This man spent 10 years enjoying his life, knowing he had a child somewhere but not caring enough to even pick up the phone to introduce himself but are we now supposed to think “ahh, how noble, he’s willing to put his life on hold to spend time with his daughter?” 🤮

Finally, when everything settles Minx/Mercy asks Dakota if he’s staying and he says “I don’t know”. Really? He’s supposedly madly in love but doesn’t know whether he wants to just abandon her to hit the road again? In fact its is only his president deciding to stay that makes his decision for him??

The nail in the coffin for this horrible, anti feminist, misogynistic, chauvinistic rubbish is when it turns out Minx is going to be the one providing financial support for Tricia &her brother’s daughter AND set up a college fund. How much bigger of a waste of space could Tucker or any of the MC actually be?

In summary, if you are a woman hating, anti feminist who doesn’t care about decency, grammar or a coherent story then this is the book for you. Otherwise, give it a miss 🙃

Good story..awkward flow

I liked the story for what it was..but I found myself confused sometimes. The chapters are labeled Dakota/Minx as if those characters were speaking but it was never from first person. So I'm reading a "Dakota" chapter where he's talking to his guys but it never says "I" only he. Many times I reading passages over because I couldn't tell if the "he" was Dakota or one of the other men speaking. It was odd and didn't quite flow easy. It distracted from the story

Dakota

As far as a storyline goes, it's there, however, the way this is written it was very difficult for me to figure out who was talking and doing in the beginning. It's not written in first person like most and seems like the name of the person at the beginning of the chapter means the "he" or "she" in the chapter is that character which gets confusing when there is more than one he and/or she. Because of this, it was a difficult book to get through. It is a really good story and I fell in love with Dakota, but definitely could use a little more editing.

I give up

I've searched and searched for a decent MC story and each one I've come across has been one let down after another. This story the writing seemed very amateur e I don't really know how else to explain it. The only constant with all these stories they love to compare themselves to SOA and good lord they don't even come near being as good. It's like sad fanfiction they can't compete. Anyways I believe I'm giving up on finding a decent story. Time to change genres for good.

Good story

The plot is good but the writing style is hard to follow. Like other reviews have pointed out, the way it's written is not good. It makes it hard to follow at times as you don't know who is speaking or thinking. Not sure why it had to be written this way as each chapter is labeled for POV. Even with that, it's still confusing. If you can get past that, then the story is pretty good.

Intriguing story, kind of hard to follow

I was initially intrigued by the story and the characters but I found there were many places throughout the book that were hard to follow. It was sometimes unclear which character was speaking or being referenced. I think if the author did an extra read through or was able to do another edit, it would help make this book go from okay to great!

I really enjoy reading MC books, this book however l struggled to get into. The 3rd person POV was very difficult at times to know who was saying what, which made it hard going to read. I did persevere though and it did have so much potential but just lacked in the development of the characters at times and felt like some aspects to the book were just thrown in haphazardly. It was overall an ok read but l probably won't rush to read book 2.

Decent story with plenty of potential. Definitely not a fan of 3rd person POV. The triggering thoughts towards the end were rather unnecessary. We knew it was bad, but the extent and her reaction seemed to be an afterthought. We don’t even really get to see her actually deal with it. And the ex? Just filler. She wasn’t even really dealt with.

Only good part of the book is the description

I read the description and expected a good book. But few pages in, I lost all interest to read it. It's boring, too long, meaningless. Not worth the time.

DNF at 15%.
I found it really jumpy, and it was written in a way you were expected to know the background and the ins and outs. I also didn't feel it was very well written, a bit jumbled and stilted in a way. Just wasn't for me.

Wanted to give up. I kinda did then went back to it. I always have to finish a book. There was too many name. And a lot similar names like Tristan and tucker. Then I’m sure there was a bad guy with a T - little too confusing to picture this in my head. Wasn’t as smooth

I love MC books, their my fave of all genre's, this one however was kinda hard to get into, a little confusing as to who was saying what and from who's pov.
I kept at it though, and it did get better, one of my favourite parts has to be the kiss on the wrist, then the head. SWOON!!

Tittle: Knights of Havoc MC (Dakota)

Star: 3/5 ⭐⭐⭐
Mature Content: Yes

Dakota is part of Knights of Havoc MC. He and his other members of the club return to Tucker hometown where he end up meeting with Minx at a club where they are drinking and he end up falling fast for Minx without knowing that she is actually a Tucker little sister who he left 2 years ago to go on a ride. Dakota is end up in a roller coaster ride emotion when he is trying to save Minx and the Club from Reapers.

Minx is a Tucker little sister. She is left behind by her big brother. After Tucker left her alone with his ex-girlfriend (Tricia) who is pregnant at that time with Brianca, Diaz who is the president of Reapers MC end up taking both of them to be used as a sex slave. Minx is raped and ask to sleep in a caged that is usually reserved for dog. She is end up for 2 years in that kind of situation before Maddox and Austin save her but right now is she is doing a run for Diaz so that she can keep in contact with Tricia and Brianca

Actually I like this book more compare from the author first book. The first book that she publish is more like what people at wattpad write. You guys should try to give this author some review but be warned that this book is full of mature content and really graphic. Don’t read it if it trigger something to you.

MC romances are my jam. They’re more than my jam. They are what I seek out when I’m in need of comfort. And they led me to Ami Van who has written one of my favorite MC romances of all time.

This book is the perfect mixture of cute and dangerous (my favorite combination, if were being honest).

This follows a girl named Mercy who waits for her brother to come rescue her and when he finally she shows up, she greets him with a beer bottle thrown across a bar which upset the MC’s enforcer, Dakota. Dakota and Mercy are thrown into each other’s paths almost as if that’s where they belonged all of this time.

This book hits all of the key points that makes up a good MC romance and I recommend to any and every MC avid reader

There is this one scene in this book that is chef’s kiss, five star worthy. It’s when Dakota claims Mercy in front of his brothers. Y’all, it is everything. Read this book just to swoon for one page.

will pooh ... I just noticed this book came out in the beginning of June ... I was ready 2 start book 2 ... nuts ... guess I'll have to wait a while ... hope not 2 long?? Sometimes when I read MC Romances I feel the filler stuff ... sorry I don't know what else to call it ... the backstory ... like info other than what is going on with the couple u really wanna read about ... that ... I just sort of skim over it and move to the juicy parts. For this read I really wanted to know what was going on with the MC dudes. great style. I look forward to more from Ami Van. I am curious where she will take the next books in this series. Hoping it will continue to pull me in and have me curious. Dakota was a man who makes u wonder what he would like in the real world. Like you wanna really see him ... what a tall drink of water. great writing style. Now what will I read ... back to KU to see??! MC Romance, must read if that is your style!

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of insta love, so that is part of the reason for my rating. However I did love these characters. Minx is hardened by life but still thinks of everyone above herself. Dakota is a big grumpy bad a biker but with Minx he's more. This book just popped up on my suggestions and I thought why not. I was greatly surprised by the book. I have not read anything or even heard of this author before this book so I wasn't sure what to expect and I am glad I took the chance. This book mss me connect with the characters enough that their emotions were my emotions. Ad I said there were parts I didn't love love but that's with any book. I do wish it went in deeper in parts but still a good read.

I loved this book. Dakota is a ton of fun and watching him succumb to his feelings was fantastic. There’s plenty of action and angst in this book….plus some steam. Minx has a sad story and is so strong. Her feelings of self loathing, despite being amazing and so self sacrificing, is pretty common for what has happened to her and the author writes her character amazingly well. I almost hope that we DON’T get a book for Tucker because he’s awful. I don’t think anything can excuse what he did in the past, even if he was ignorant of the consequences, it still doesn’t excuse his callous and idiotic behavior and choices. I’m hoping that all of the brother’s get books - especially Titan and Atticus!

Most issues seem to have been corrected.

Other readers complained about being confused on who was talking and a confusing 3rd person present tense.
I, however, had minimal problems.
There were a couple instances where a name would have been better than a pronoun but I only had to reread a few sentences to understand once.
I've read a lot of MC books and this one was near perfect. I wished it was a bit slower but other than that, it was so good.
The intimate scenes are the usual which is somewhat disappointing.
I usually just skim over those parts anyway since everyone just recycles the same lines and sequences for them. If the author had come up with new, more exciting material for those scenes I might have given another star.

I wasn’t sure I was going to like this story due to it needing editing - but overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline. I felt invested, I was sucked in, and I felt some big emotions.

I really look forward to the rest of this series, and I hope we don’t have to wait long periods of time before we see the next couple. :)

Also- we need some questions answered. Mm hmm!!

I know one reviewer wasn’t happy that the author used a real MC - bc she was an Old Lady from the actual club, but we have to remember this isn’t real life and this book wasn’t trying to make any real MCs look bad. But that’s just my 2 cents, though I get where she was coming from.

Dnf @82%. There's a scene where the transgender bartender is flirting with one of the brothers. They're all standing there laughing about it. The next day they're making fun of him because they were in the restroom together and he came running out with his pants down.

Why did the author think a transgender woman would play a prank with a member of an MC? The scene added absolutely NOTHING to the story.

Also, the fmc's brother is a complete ahole who steals his another's MC's money and leaves behind his pregnant gf and sister and doesn't check on them for 10 YEARS?! what did he think was going to happen?
