Fall in love with the McAllisters of Seaview, Maine in the 1st of this contemporary romance series with plenty of sweet, steamy, and a dash of suspense.
Resilient to the core, Maddy McAllister has worked hard to overcome a rough history. But, when her slimy ex comes back with plans to win her back, destroy the town, and bulldoze her father's fisheries business, she has to face her past head-on, and the stakes are much higher this time.
No stranger to danger, former deep-sea diver Chase Anderson will be there for Maddy every step of the way - if she'll let him. Passion ignites when these 2 reunite and can no longer ignore the sparks between them.
When Maddy’s past threatens to crush everything she cares about, her world is turned upside down. And, maybe that’s not a bad thing...
Carrie Thorne is the author of sizzling romance novels, specializing in white-hot chemistry, healthy relationships, and a mix of action and dreamily falling in love. Whether it’s a sinuous flow down a lazy river or evil bad dudes hot on heels, Carrie’s stories will draw you in and ruin your sleep. Happily ever afters are for everyone, and kindness is everything.
She’s also an introvert who loves people, travel, fitness, video games, food, and is a true Pacific Northwesterner who lives for rain and outdoors and trees and mountains and ocean, and… she’s a total dork. At home, she’s lucky to have two creative and confident kids, a witty veteran husband she fell at-first-sight for, and a tiny pup snuggled at her side. In addition to writing romance, Carrie has been a nurse practitioner, a Martian and Earthling geologist, a banker, and she is usually elbow-deep in a DIY project in which she bit off more than she could chew.
This story has some dark elements, but it contains an exciting storyline. The listener is immediately drawn into the story, and is given a solid glimpse into each of the protagonist’s personalities within the first two chapters.
This second chance romance is wonderful. Full of suspense with just the right amount of humor to break the tension. Chase and Maddy are off the scales in sexual chemistry and very romantic. The secondary characters are engaging and add just the right amount of support to the main couple. The bad guy is creepy and a little over the top to be truly effective but I loved the whole story. If you love small town second chance romances with some suspense then this book is for you.
I hate to criticize authors publicly, but I couldn't find an email for Carrie Thorne.
Although I thought the book had an interesting plot and interesting characters, I was disappointed in the author's ability to write correct English. She often used the wrong spelling of a homonym. For example: she used discrete instead of discreet. Discreet means a person who doesn't gossip or tell stories about people. Discrete means distinct and separate. It is often used in mathematical parlance.
Another example: She used peak instead of peek. "He peaked out the window." Peak means to reach the highest point. Peek means to look.
Third example: Wreaks vs reeks. "Because of his body odor, he wreaks." If he smells bad, he reeks. If he wreaks, he is causing damage or destruction to someone or something.
Finally, my pet peeve is authors who don't use he/him or she/her correctly. This is an easy thing to figure out. The mistake is made when a writer is using he and someone. So, Carrie says "Jean and her took a walk." To check if this is right, drop "Jean and" from the sentence. Would you say "Her took a walk"? No, you would use "she". So then you should say "Jean and she took a walk" or "She and Jean took a walk".
Same if you are writing something like "He sent candy to she and Mary." Or "This is for she and Sue." Drop Mary and Sue and your sentence will say "He sent candy to she", or "This is for she". That sounds terrible, so you should write "He sent candy to her and Mary" or "This is for her and Sue (or for Sue and her).
Please use correct grammar when writing this type of phrase. It drives me crazy to read it and makes me not want to read anything else by that author.
This is just the sort of book you want to kick back with a good glass of white wine and read with your feet in front of the fire. The characters pull you in right away and you don’t want to put it down until you see it through to the end! Nice balance between realistic characters fighting modern day struggles and the levity you want from a good romance novel.
Amazing characters and a well developed storyline. Love the bits of humor woven in. This book is like a warm sunrise. A wonderful start to a new series. So well done. Realistic. I feel like I’m living the story right next to the characters. There is a dark thread woven through that adds so much more to the story. Seriously an amazingly well written book. I absolutely loved it.

Book one of the A Beachside Romance series and the first book I have read by this Author. Chasing Forever is the first book in A Beachside Romance and a great start to this new series. Maddy McAllister and Chase Anderson are well-developed characters, strong, likable, and relatable. The storyline is well written and captured my interest from start to finish, with mystery, suspense, and a wonderful second chance for romance.
I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
This book was amazing - full of plot twists that helped develop already strong characters into people that seemed actually real. It was super fun to read, and even the side characters were awesome! I really enjoyed it.
I read through the night! This is the kind of book you want to curl up on the couch with a nice glass of wine to read. The characters are engaging and well rounded. The story flows well making it hard to put the book down. Looking forward to more from this author.
I won this book as a give away. i truly enjoyed this book. The plot and setting was great. it made want to live never the beach or go on vacation to warm and sunny place. The characters made me laugh, and cry at the same time.
This is a great read with an awesome storyline that has well developed and engaging characters that have lots of chemistry. The smooth flow of the storyline makes for a good reading time.

I enjoyed the characters in this book. Love the beach setting so that was nice too! Good plot. This was a first by this author, but I would read more. I won this book from a Goodreads giveaway.
....I dunno. I don’t think I cared for the writing style in this one. Everything was very explicit. It didn’t leave much to the imagination. While I did find myself falling for Chase, I also thought, “Well, of COURSE I am.” He is painted as the perfect man with a troubled past, and Maddy is the independent woman that balances him out perfectly; with her fair share of a rough past. (Not a single character let’s you forget about that, either). For a shorter read, though, I found myself unable to but the book down, constantly wondering what Dylan would pull out next.
I am giving 3 stars because, even though I couldn’t put it down, I often found myself confused by the weird grammar choices. I rolled my eyes at the perfect couple that molded together so easily with little to no pushback. I am forgiving of this because they had to share a strong bond to overcome such a terrible predicament together. I am forgiving for the cliche protagonists because of the unique circumstances, and the involvement of the realistic abusive ex-boyfriend. I found Payson to be forgettable, but perhaps I just really dislike cliche best friend characters.
Overall, I think it was a good read. It is definitely better suited for teens, I think I would have rated 5 stars if I’d read it 10 years ago!

Another great start to a series that looks very promising. It’s different than the other Carrie Thorne books that I’ve read. This one has more intrigue, action, and drama, by far. Her other books have been more lighthearted romances. Not this one!
Chase is returning to Seaview after a decade. He left behind a troubled past and a reputation that he’s afraid no one in Seaview has forgotten. Now, he’s returned to take over one of the town’s most prosperous businesses. He’s also reunited with his best friend and cohort in crime, Aiden. Oh, and Aiden’s little sister, Maddy. There’s no dating history there, but there is something.
Maddy returned to Seaview a couple of years ago. She fled town and an abusive ex. Not many know the entire story and Maddy had some reservations about returning, but she quickly earns her position and respect on the Seaview PD. Just as she is getting to know Chase again, her past comes back to haunt her.
There’s a little bit of everything in this one. The Beachside Romance series is going to be a good one!
Chasing Forever A Beachside Romance, Book 1 by Carrie Thorne was a Laid Back, Sweet Read!
This story was like sinking into a lounge chair, and enjoying a beautifully reflected, painted picture of a heart warming coastal town.
The peace and tranquility of the characters, and the storyline was palpable.
Chase Anderson, the H, and Maddy McAllister, the h, were the perfect afternoon excursion.
There were a few extra added words in the story, that distracted from the flow of the story, and a character last name disagreement, which is why it only received 4 stars.
Overall, in short, I enjoyed this story immensely!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.)
I absolutely loved this "beach-side romance!" Especially as I read it At The Beach! LOL.
Chase is my absolute newest book Boyfriend! He JUMPED into my heart!
Thinking he's not worthy of Maddy, he shies away from wooing her! And, she's his best friend's baby-sister on top of everything! And Maddy, OMG, poor thing with her ex-stalker, boyfriend.
Maddie moves back to her hometown of Seaview, Maine and at the same time after she is comfortable at her job and home; two men from her past come back as well- her crazy ex-boyfriend and her brother’s best friend who she has always crushed hard on. This set up the series great with wonderful intros for most of the characters, the town, special meeting places in town, and a feel for the people.
I liked the main characters and their friends and family. I am not a fan of another story with a psychotic ex boyfriend stalking the protagonists. I hope the next book has a conflict not based on disgusting villains.
Despite the cover, which looks like one for a light and frothy beach romance, this book is not a contemporary light romance read. In fact, the first scene details the aftermath of an explosion on an oil rig out in the ocean. This happens right before the hero learns about the death of his father. Our introduction to the heroine also has a hard edge to it. I'll admit to preferring a light and breezy contemporary romance rather than serious ones like this one. Therefore, I really couldn't get into the book. I essentially liked the characters, but I found the plot to be a little darker than I prefer for romance. If you like romances on this darker side, with elements of danger and suspense, you might enjoy this book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
If I didn't love it and want to read it over and over, it wouldn't have been released! I love second chance romances, about reuniting with the one that got away. One of my favorite aspects about Chasing Forever is the friendships the characters share, how they relate to each other when things get tough. Enjoy! Next up: Running Forever, out September 20. If you liked Chasing Forever even a little bit (which I hope you liked it a lot), you'll love Running Home. Thanks for reading :) - Carrie
