The First Steps: The Start of My Recovery Story

Rate this book
Over the span of a year, I went through hell and back fighting with my mental health. I learned to cope with what had happened to me by painting and writing. I wrote poems as if I were telling advice to someone else and then I was able to read them myself to get an "outsiders" point of view. In my recovery, I've found that it is easier to help others than to help yourself so that's the point of this book. I feel that my experience can help others. If I can help at least one person who's struggling with mental health or any other difficult parts of life, then this was worth publishing. A little about me so you can see if this book will help you at all. I was raised in an abusive house hold, which caused a lot of emotional damage over the years. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and anorexia. This book does contain some sensitive topics such as suicide, self harm, abuse, etc. This is not a story about those things, but how I am recovering.I made my story in the middle of the pages so you, the reader, can draw, reflect, write your thoughts or how each part relates to you. Maybe this will be an outlet for you as well.
